Doll Family A Discussion - part 2

Jan 11, 2015

    1. Hi! Thanks for the quick reply! I bought the Gyoha Moebius head to shell one of my favorite book characters into. I haven't tried a faceup on him yet, i figured i would wait till i had a body for him incase i needed to blush the body to match. Do you know if Doll Family H does color matching though Alice Collections? It seems like sitting they would only do though their own website.

    2. You didn't ask me but they do as I received last month a DFH body matched to Switch mocha brown I ordered through alice collections.

    3. Thank you! Yes, in the few pictures that i have seen of the DFH normal pink it did look a bit lighter. I was thinking that maybe if the pink tone was close enough to the milk tea i could blush the neck of the body and hands to match the head. I'm super excited to hear you have the exact combo that i was thinking of. The milk tea rose looks like a kind of grey- pink. Since you have both resins together, what do you think of how the pink tones in each look together?

That is great to know! Thanks for the information! Did you end up sending in the head cap to Alice collection's then?

    4. @Gypsum I believe they do, you'd just need to email AC with your request. However, I think the Gyoha head would look to bobble headed on anything smaller then 65cm. Especially as Gyoha has more mature features. I believe Switch even has pictures of the head on it's newest 70cm bodies. I've got Waseon and Ajeong Closer who have similar head sizes, and I found at least for me that their heads don't really work on anything smaller then 65cm bodies. If you wanted to go the shorter route then you'd want to find a shorter body with at least a 15cm shoulder width.

    5. Do you have the two paired together? If you happen to have a picture of them i would love to see them!

Ahhhh. That was the other thing i was worried about. Shoot. I don't think I've seen a body like that that i liked the looks of.

    6. @Gypsum - No, DFH has the colours on file so I just asked the dealer about it an email and alice collections told me what to do when I placed the order. To me the milktea rose barely appears pink, more like a beige ish colour with a very slight pink undertone but not enough to actually match an obviously pink resin. DFH normal pink is an obvious pink, a light normal resin but obviously pink toned. I tried to take a photo comparing the head to DFH jointed hand in normal pink, link here 20220123_211052.jpg, but my phone often auto colour corrects and ate the pink out the image, so hopefully the general comparison can help give you an idea (pink/red tones will fade out of resin eventually anyway). No, I have a different head on the body. This milktea rose ruan was a backup choice in case I couldn't get yido in mocha brown which was wanted I wanted for the character as my top choice.

    7. Thank you so much for the picture! I think I'm going to have to re-think the smaller body as well. But that's great information knowing that i wouldn't even need to send off part of the head to have a resin color match from Alice collections. ☺

    8. Hello everyone <3
I have just received my petite boy body and I *love* it. It poses awesome, the single joints are super cute (very classic, volks-like).

I ordered natural pink, and below it has a Supia Lina head on it, both compared to a classic Volks SD13, old Supia & classic Zaoll from Dollmore. It fits girl heads that need to be 'boy'ified' perfectly. But its arms are longer than those of girls, so shirts/tops may be too shrot in the sleeves. I learned it the hard way yesterday xD

other than this, a perfect, perfect body. Just what I needed.

here, with the supia body on flat shoes and super high heels. They were supposed to be a couple, but now with the height difference, I have doubts. I mean, I knew he'd be slightly shorter and I had no trouble with that, plus she won't wear such high heels all the time, but I'm just doubting it all now. We'll see :D He's stealing her denims. So, all sd13 girl clothes fir just fine in arms, butt, etc. Just the sleeves (that's why his shirt is rolled up - irl it's too short xD)

Anyway, hope that such a small, low quality comparison helps (I downloaded the pics from my IG)

    9. Does anyone here have a Nick? Or has tried fitting a DF-A 62cm male head on their 68cm female body?
I just confirmed with the company it can be ordered but they seemed doubtful about the fit even if the listed neck and head sizes are the same.

    10. Hello everyone! I’ve just ordered a DFA body, and am a little confused about their resin colours. Does anyone have a Light Tan doll from them?? :)

    11. I have a light tan body from last year, I can compare it to a normal pink from this year if you like? The light tan is very light

    12. That sounds very helpful, having seen peoples wildly varying shades of the ‘Tanned’ skin I’m a bit more confident that I made the right call, would certainly be interesting to see next to normal pink!

If anyone knows how it compares (Light Tan) to colours like Resinsoul coffee or MYOU Coffee that would be great. I have an Argodoll dark brown, a DFH Tan (which seems a lot darker than DFA’s) and Loongsoul NSP (which to me looks far too light compared to the rest of my crew, so I’ve been hoping the DFA light tan is somewhat better...)

    13. I'm going to be hybriding my Lemoon Perial 70 head on a Doll Family A 75cm (slimmer) boy body. Does anyone have photos of the body and maybe their own hybrids? I'd love to see owner photos of the body.

    14. @Seki Does DF-A have two 70cm bodies?

    15. Oh! No I meant to say 75cm slim body! oops, sorry.

    16. @Seki Haha, no worries. It would be nice if the came out with a slimmer 70cm body as well. I know there's the 68cm one (which I already have four of >_>) But, I also need something in the slightly taller but not to tall category.

      • x 1
    17. The DF-H 72cm Ver II is a slimmer body if that is not too tall.

    18. @nancy_schroeder_ca It's a little on the tall side, but it's on my list as a possible back up.

    19. I received my Dake on a 65cm body on March 9th. He seems to be no longer available on AC...[IMG]

    20. I've been eyeing the DFA 68 body for a while now, and was wondering if anyone here who owns the body have any issues getting clothes for such a slim build. And the lack of a torso joint. I'd appreciate it if anyone here can share their thoughts and experiences!

    21. @Bubbleteaddict I haven't had any problems buying clothes for mine. I generally buy clothes listed for 68cm size bodies. I also have both versions of the body and I do find I like the added mobility of the lower torso/hip joint. I did a comparison of the body here, DF-A & Migidoll 68cm Body Comp - Album on Imgur.

    22. Hey Iza, hope you don’t mind me bumping this a little! Just curious about how these two compare. I’ve seen a line up of pure white, white, normal pink and normal yellow and the normal yellow is surprisingly dark compared to the pink, so I’m curious as to how the light tan compares to pink!

Also if anyone has ‘tan’ alongside any of the other colours, I’d be interested to see that too (obviously can’t change my order but, yeah!)

    23. Ah, sorry! I'm such a scatterbrain, sorry about the delay!

So, here is the comparison under a daylight lamp. The big hand is Normal Yellow from 2020, the Light Tan knee peanut is from 2021, and the tiny hand in normal pink is from 2022. Hope this helps!

    24. Thank you so much! This is a huge help (and a big relief, was getting worried that light tan was going to be too pale but it looks perfect) :love

      • x 1
    25. You're welcome! It really is a nice color, not too dark, but still definitely a tan. In some lighting it looks more like an olive toned normal skin in pictures. I do wish I'd gotten a regular tan body, as the head I hybrided on it is darker. But I can correct that with blushing the torso, I need to anyway as my boy has a tattoo on his neck.

    26. @IzabethS : I know you've shown me comparisons before for the 65 body, but I really do think this sealed the deal and laid to rest any waffling I've had on getting the DF-A 65 in the tan color. :D As always, thanks so much for sharing!

    27. It really is such a nice body, and rock solid too! I only had to suede mine because I swapped his legs from the knees down and the fit is atrocious. But he still stands pretty well!

    28. I got my male body today (he arrived with broken fingers, but that's being fixed) but wow the resin color is really different. They're both supposed to be normal yellow. They said it's different between different batches (She's 8 months older) but now she looks more like a normal to me?

Especially if you look at his neck donut, which is her exact color.

Either way DF-A normal yellow (his version) is a really great match for an older, yellowed normal resin Resinsoul. The girl's head does work on her body since she's more blushed.

    29. I noticed this too. I recently worked on a DF-A Auriel in normal yellow, who had to be color matched to his newer DF-A normal yellow body as it is much paler than my DF-A 2020 normal yellow body

    30. So strange, it's only been 8 months between dolls! They must have some kind of issue if it's this off.
Unfortunately it puts me off getting jointed hands and stuff from them, which is a shame because I love the doll engineering of DF-A, especially the hand hooks.

It also makes me wonder how off the replacement hand will be =/ Good thing I fixed the broken one with glue and some rings to hide the cracks.

    31. Hi!

Does anyone have a pic of blank DF-A Dake head??
I just wanted to try a mock-up face up for a friend but I couldn't find a blank head pic.

    32. Hello All,

Can anybody here tell me if any of DF-A's resin tones can match up well with Resinsoul's Normal Skin resin? :)

    33. That's a shame...I guess some blushing and sewing clothes that cover the joints (so the difference is not too in your face) could work wonders, but still...I wonder why they're so different. I had my eyes on some DF-A dolls too, but I'd be worried about mixing and matching then...

    34. Does anyone have a pair of DF-A 65/68cm jointed hands and could tell me the overall length? The sites I've found selling them don't seem to list any measurements. (I bought a pair of the 75cm ones and I like them so much I want a pair for another, smaller doll.)

    35. Here:

      hands length:8.3cm
      hands width:2.7cm

    36. Thank you! :)

    37. I own two pairs of the DF-A jointed hands and while they're nice I find the fingers a bit to long. I tried to get my guys to wear gloves, but the fingers being on the long side prevented them from going on, and I have plenty of other dolls in the same size range who can wear them just fine. This goes for DF-A's regular hands as well.

    38. @Cloudedmind Thanks for your input. They do look pretty darn long. But I haven't really seen any alternatives that look so nice at the knuckles and joints when bent. I like the slim Granado hands, but I just can't stomach $120 + shipping for hands right now... I own Doll Legend jointed hands as well, and they too have very long fingers and like, strangely pointed fingertips? :huh?: Still among my favourites just because of the nice knuckle shapes. But I have a thing about running the same sculpt for different characters. I dunno. I've been hand shopping for a few years now and this is the closest I've come to a decision.

    39. I have heard that Doll Family H will resin match. Is this true? If so, how good are they at it and what would I be looking at price wise for this? Any help is appreciated.

    40. Hello! Has anyone tried hybriding one of the Doll Family-A SD sized male bodies with a Fairyland Feeple60 head? I have a Feeple60 Chiwoo ordered and I'm thinking of getting the 56cm male body.

    41. My Nick arrived, I got her on the 68cm female body, I decided to name her Yao.
I noticed 1/3 male clothes fit her fine, the pants are just a bit short, I should probably get some pants specifically for 70cm dolls.

Completely blank still. I wasn't sure she'd be what I expected because the Nick faceup is a bit heavy, and the artistic pictures not very clear, but it is a beautiful sculpt and quite expressive.

    42. Congrats on her arrival!! I have the 68cm girl body at home too and I found that SD16 pants from AC fit perfectly from the proportions and pantleg lenght. I don't post her in this thread because she had a Dollzone head. If you like I can take her off the shelf and take a few full body pictures.

    43. Do you think male SD17 would fit? I saw some for sale but I was worried about the hips and torso length and couldn't find a good size chart.
She has the small bust, in case it makes a difference, I actually thought it would be smaller but it's not as noticeable with clothes on anyway.

    44. Maybe? She's a pretty slim build, mine has the small bust too and I have a modified SD16 shirt on her (I added straps to the side to pull the shirt more form fitting). I can't say for pants though, as my boy dolls all fit into SD13 or 70cm Uncle pants, I don't even know if I have any SD17 pants...

    45. I was planning to give her a boyish look, so long pants and shirts maybe even a full formal suit, that's probably not sold for female dolls and it'll likely need adjustments to fit right.

Which do you think will fit better between SD17 and SSDF? Luts is on the slim side and looks like it might be a closer match.

    47. Does anyone know the Neck Circumference of the DFA Practice head from Alice Collection? I recently got mine not too long ago and was wanting to get a bust stand for it to sit on.

    48. I think it's a mini, I got one and is pretty small, but if you have one can't you just measure it yourself?

    49. I suppose so but I just wanted to make sure if it's right or not I just didn't want to end up getting a wrong bust size. I'd feel more comfortable if someone else could confirm it is all, but I guess its 9cm or 9.5cm probably.

    50. I wasn't sure because this is the Large Dolls discussion forum.
No it's more like 8cm, or less, 9 would be too big. Unless you're willing to sand it down, or enlarge the neck hole, but it might still have the wrong proportions.

    51. Thank you, I'll look for Bust with at least 8 or 9cm then.

    52. Which grade of paper did u use for that?

Also, thank you @Nefla I was looking for owner pics of the DFA 70cm body and yours were perfect ❤️ (I know has passed a year, but thank you anyways)

@ninive is that white skin? I know I read somewhere that DFA white skin is paper white but maybe I'm wrong (I've reading a lot of threads these days) and I just want to be sure xD

Edit: it's getting easier to buy clothes for the DFA 70cm body? I'm not sure between said body or LS 73cm, I'm gathering info yet D: I love the two bodies and idk how to break the tie

    54. Yes it's white skin, DFA actually seem to carry two different types but not every dealer has both and it's not labeled very well either. If you order from acbjd that's the type of white you'll probably get.
It actually looks almost creamy against actual paper, it doesn't have a blue component, but it is very white in person and tends to reflect light in pictures.

    55. does anyone have Switch MB they can compare to a Tan or Light Tan DF-A body? I really like their bodies/resins but wanted to see if it was in an acceptable range.

    56. In the case of DF-A, if you pay an additional fee, you can combine it with the skin color you want. In some cases, famous companies are already in harmony. I tend to use TAOBAO. It was more friendly to buy from other TAOBAO stores than to buy from their headquarters. (Sometimes they give discounts) Rather, it seems that the headquarters did not have the option to choose skin from other companies. I think we need to coordinate with the seller.Switch MB is this option : SNG(=Switch’s previous Name)MB
      I use 爱の发源地BJD娃店 in Taobao

    57. yeah i know they do resin match but they require a sample being sent. I just want to see what their tan they already sell is like and compare. I know Doll Legend pink is a great match for switch RW or DOD normal pink. tans are just all over the place.... my back up is prime frame Nutt as that seems to use the same tan formula.

    58. @Nearachan I can't answer your specific question, but just wanted to add that DFA only requires a sample for colors they don't already have on file, and I believe they have samples for mocha brown.

    59. thank you! that's good to know. I'll keep that in mind but the problem with switch MB is that they vary....its even hard to match with their own mb color....lol..... also why im content with a close enough match vs perfect.
