Doll Chateau Waiting Room v.7

Sep 21, 2019

    1. Julienne is paid off now, but I need a teensy bit more cash to put in my deposit with the dealer for Cepholopod. Hopefully stuff on ebay will sell so I can have that little bit extra. The pound value crashed again so I had to redo all my maths and came up a little short, argh.

    2. Officially in the one year club.

Is DC a Chinese company? If so, the wait is about to be much, much longer with the coronavirus going on.

    3. Yeah, they are. :(

    4. It’s fine. I can do this :...(:...(:...(

    5. I have some tentative good news.

As far as I've seen, based on some quick googling, DC is located in Guangdong, which is not quarantined (found on the DZ site--It's my understanding that they share a factory). This means there isn't a reason DC would be unable to work or ship that I am aware of (unless individual employees being sick is slowing workflow, but that happens ordinarily in cold and flu season). I haven't seen any information on shipping restrictions (I've seen information about container shipping/shipping via boat being slowed down, but DC ships by plane). Viruses cannot live very long without a host, so it would not be transmissible by mail (in another thread here, I read that in cool and damp conditions, viruses can survive three days at the Absolute most, but it is typically much shorter, and besides which, doll boxes usually aren't damp). With all this in mind I don't know the impact the virus will have on shipping times, but I do not necessarily see it preventing shipping at the moment based on anything I've looked up. An exception would be if any of the effected cities are a shipping hub for airmail/ems/dhl/etc, which I am not aware of.

    7. I'm getting antsy. I wanted to order Cepholopod from the Uk dealer but she's redoing her maths and hasn't got back to me yet. I know, I still have about a month but MAN I hate time limited orders argh.

I'd feel a lot better if I had a downpayment sorted and knew he'd been ordered you know?

then I could sit back and wait.

DC are still behind aren't they? They claimed they were going to catch up but i'm yet to see evidence of this. I'm gonna estimate i'm not seeing Julienne till halloween lol.

    8. Thank you, @Chameleon, for clearing that up. My partner, @gelfling21 was worried for a minute about the corona virus, but after reading your post, they feel much better. :)

      Ryu

    9. BJDivas told me they're STILL going through that shipment of DC stuff they got in sometime at the end of last year? So I hope I hope I hope my doll body is in there, since my heads from the discontinuation event are already at BJDivas waiting for me. :eusa_pray

      • x 2
    10. I got the same email from them, the "your order is either already here or on its way".

But yeah it seems like DC/DZ sent them about a years' worth of stuff all in one go, unlabeled, so...yeah, that's gonna suck.

    11. I’m glad I was able to help!

    12. That's a big part of why I put mine on such a long layaway; I figure there's virtually no way she's showing up with BJDivas before I'm done paying her off (and if I'm pleasantly surprised and she does, it won't be that much to pay her off then). I'd be a lot more antsy about it if I'd already paid in full; I'm definitely a bit antsy about the other order I have through them. :)

    13. @mephisto what body are you waiting on? I'm in the same boat, the heads I ordered arrived months ago but the body has yet to surface. I'm waiting on the Margarita body.

This is my first time hitting the one year club. The character I had planned for this doll has changed a couple times since ordering and I'm starting to worry she's not going to work anymore. :(

      • x 2
    14. Yeah long waits are problematic for me too because it's enough time to start second guessing yourself and rethinking your plans. I've definitely done that with my DV order which i've been waiting on since July. I have days where i'm all "I regret this!" and wonder if i'll bond with them at all when they finally get here. *sigh*

At least with Julienne I have a plan and i'm pretty sure i'll still want her when she comes in.

      But arghhhh.

In the meantime, ebay auctions are going well so hopefully i'll have my downpayment for Cepholopod sorted soon.

      • x 2
    15. @vicemage, I don't know if nine months is considered a "long layaway," but I'm glad I didn't opt for a shorter one. I'm patient, but wow, a year? I suppose that's to be expected if DC's work staff is a small one. To me, he'll be worth the wait! :3nodding:

I didn't really have any plans for my Nicola, except for him being transgender and his name being Nikolai. Other than that, he's not even in any of my storylines yet...if at all. He was a bit of an :love Oooh! Pretty! *grabby hands* kind of buy.

Here's hoping that everyone in the "one year club" had dolls simply waiting to be sorted by BJDivas!

    16. I ordered the K body 5, one of the MSD bodies with extra joints. It doesn't seem to be too popular, I think ? I don't see it that often, at least!

      • x 1
    17. @Ryuichi Sakuma 13 I asked for "$20 per month," which should come out to 11-12 months total; I consider anything more than about 4-6 months a "long layaway," personally, and this is definitely the longest I've done, especially for a relatively low-price doll.

So... I guess we'll just see if the last payment request or the doll show up first. :)

    18. Even though I'll receive a lad in a year or so, I'm still very curious. Does anyone happen to know how far forward Noah or Ryan bend at the animal torso joint? I can see how much those centaur legs bend, but I really want to know how much the animal body itself can bend forwards and backwards. I'm most likely going to attempt to resculpt the a good portion of the centaurian body as is for more poseability, but I really want to know how much they bend there by default.

    19. @FuyumiAya so you want to see if he can lean forward, like over his front legs? more from the hip, right?

    20. This is exactly where I am! I got a message about a month or 2 ago that everything else I ordered had shown up, except the body, but they were still unpacking... and then.... nothing. Was really hoping to finish it, but it looks like the body hasn't turned up yet!

Layaway payment 11 out of 12 went out yesterday for my ws a-body-04, sexta head, and mephisto.philes horns, purchased during the discontinuation event!

I told them to go ahead and just PayPal invoice me for any remainder plus shipping once they're ready to ship. Hopefully it's soooooon! :wantshipping:

    21. @Grimalkin I'm not very good at explaining anything, so here's a visual. Note: there is no hip joint on the doll at all.
How much can it do this?

    22. Hey everyone, just wanted to post a clarification about the shipments we're receiving. It wasn't just one shipment at the end of 2019, they'd been continuing to come in, all unlabeled of course, until Chinese New Year. They'd be coming in still except for the export freeze.

      • x 7
    23. @BJDivas - good gracious... i can't even begin to imagine. what a nightmare they are completely unlabelled...

@FuyumiAya - ok i will see what Noah can do in the morning & put some pics up for you :thumbup

    24. Just got an update from DC/DZ literally an hour ago. The good news is, they're sending us more boxes. The bad news is, no one knows if those boxes will get caught in the export freeze. The other bad news is (for no one but us) is more unlabeled things to sort through. Yay...

      • x 6
    25. sort of not funny, but i read that more like this:
"The good news is, they're sending us more boxes. The bad news is, ***they are sending more boxes***" :doh

@FuyumiAya - Noah doesn't have much lean at all. unless he was completely loose could i possibly get any gap under the belly, and here are some of the most lean i can achieve strung tight from factory.

    26. @Grimalkin
So the deer body doesn't move hardly at all? That's pretty disappointing. I knew I was going to re-sculpt the body for flexibility, but it looks like I may need to change some of the design, too. The torso doesn't seem to lean back by much, either. Thank you very much for the pictures. They give me a good idea on what I need to do.

      @BJDivas
Thank you for your hard work and patience for us all. I can only imagine how annoying sorting through everything and comparing items to forms can be. I hope someone helping you is a librarian.

      • x 2
    27. @FuyumiAya - i have a few more notes on the flickr pages, but essentially, he is tightly strung, so if i push him by hand to the limit, i can get perhaps another 1/2" backwards over his back, and another 3/8" forwards over his knees. then, the joint on his back comes apart in a very mechanical way, not much aesthetic then. completely loose strung, perhaps 35 degrees forward is possible at the torso joint? i will say though, just handling him again today, the texture of his resin and luminescence is pretty amazing. i will forgive him all kinds of sins i suppose.

if you need any other shots just let me know, i'll do my best :thumbup

    28. Hi, sorry, I'm a little confused -- what is the export freeze? I've been looking for information and I"m not 100% sure what this is referring to.

    29. there are export/import freezes occurring because of COVID-19 "2019 novel coronavirus". critical items like food, medical supplies and paper products are also not moving. entire regions are quarantined. i hope our friends and family members in this hobby and others are not only well with their health, but that hopefully the financial impact will also be low for them.

    30. That makes sense, thank you for explaining! I also hope that people remain well and safe, and that everyone continues to provide whatever support they can.

    31. I'm talking myself out of things again. When I look at pictures of Cepholopod I do love him but the money is just.. painful. I had ordered but the dealer can't give me the event discount so it's cheaper to go via ACBJD anyway, or direct. But now i'm like "do I want to order this? Aegghhhh" and I just don't know.

How do you guys justify the really expensive limited dolls?

Meanwhile i'm expecting Julienne will be what, like August sorta time? Which would be good actually because that's summer so dry and good for faceups. My big problem of dolls arriving this time of year is it's so wet and dark and gloomy that I can't seal things easily and can't see what i'm painting anyway.

    32. I justify them as being limited, if the pine is there and I miss out, what if I regret it? I also tell myself that if it doesn't work out when it arrives, there's a higher chance at being able to resell quicker as it was limited and there's bound to be people who missed out that wanted it

      • x 1
    33. I'm the same, a limited is generally going to be easier to resell than a standard doll, so i use that as kind of an insurance policy against my not liking it when it comes in

    34. Im so worried my order isnt even completed yet because there was a fullset issue for my baby Lydia. They cant make the outfit which sucks because I loveeee it. Now I just wonder if they even finished the doll faceup, or cast her. If nothing else I would be excited to see my other dolls show up. No one else was full set/had faceups. But its a big order, and all these shipping issues are tough. I get this feeling at least the heads might be in the pile at BJDivas. So who knowssss.

Im just so anxious now after my cross country move and excited. I cant wait to be able to send my updated shipping because it means I will be close. I guess I'm a glutton for pain, with my first tattoo I went big, why not buy my first new bjd from a notoriously slow company and during a discontinuation haha.

At least now that Im in a less wet climate I can do faceups on my other dolls to keep myself sated. In portland all I could do during the longgggg winter was make clothes/wigs.

    35. Ahh I just ordered Nicola from Denver Doll and I’m so excited! :D I went back and forth on her for ages but finally decided to pull the trigger. She’s going to be my first blank doll, I’m already brainstorming her character and everything :) Looking forward to designing the clothes too! She has such a unique body shape I’m not sure what clothes or patterns will fit her so I may make her a little dress form to work off of.

    36. YAY, another Nicola friend! :XD:

I too can't wait to make Nikolai, my transboy his clothes, the wings will make them an extra challenge. :3nodding:

    37. Oh goodness, I hope everyone is alright regarding the virus. I was hoping to get my Fuya by the end on the month but I doubt that's going to happen.

    38. Today received update from Jeeryama, that my ordered in December Blanc Bella-2 will be release no early July or August :(
So if 8-9 months now for blanc body, how it can be with full set. :?
Seems no early then next year I believe.

      @Ryuichi Sakuma 13 Surely 9 months layaway it’s a wise choice !
Unfortunately Jeeryama do not accept such long layaway :(

    39. My Nicola blank arrived! I’m not sure exactly how/where to install the magnets for the horn but I’m so excited! I am concerned about one of the wing joints, I can’t tell if it’s damaged or supposed to be that way? I’ll email Denver Doll to find out. Here’s a quick pic!

    40. she's gorgeous! i love how their white resin is almost opalescent. for the horn, perhaps one magnet inside the head cap and one outside but is attached to the horn already, or with eye putty/glue? that is a lot of magnets, maybe they thought you might need extra if a wig is on and it has to clamp through?

    41. Normally, I would say that one magnet goes in the horn and the other inside the wig, but due to how the fullset wig fits on Nicola's head, I agree. One in the horn base and one inside of the head. It looks like they sent you an extra magnet, be sure to take care of it! Of course you can simply use eye putty to attach the horn.

Congrats! Your Nicola is gorgeous, that white resin is stunning! :D

      Ryu

    42. Oh! maybe like a magnet sandwich! one on the horn, then under the wig, and then inside the head cap?

    43. gosh those wings are beautiful.

      • x 1
    44. The horn already has a magnet in it, which is nice. I like the eye putty idea! I'd prefer not to glue it permanently in place since there isn't an indent or anything for it. Maybe it needs a lot of magnets to hold through the resin? It's going to be a pain to get it in there, the cavity is small and has a HUGE S hook in the middle. I couldn't get the eyes in easily so I didn't bother, they weren't a shade I wanted to use anyway. But when I order in new eyes it's going to be hard to put them in place.

    45. Joining this room, thanks to the discontinuation event! I've been pondering getting either Hyman or Jason for a while, so I purchased both of their heads so I can hybrid them!

    46. I don't want to send multiple emails but @BJDivas is taking forever to respond, they said they had my Fuya but were waiting on the accessories from the fullest to ship her, they asked if I wanted the doll shipped now and the accessories later and I responded saying yes, but it's been like 3 days and nothing. I'm going to a meet in two weeks and really want to bring her. :(

      • x 1
    47. I can only imagine that torture! It's like ordering an amazon package that doesn't come with Prime shipping. You get more and more antsy because it's coming, not it's not here yet!

    48. Bjdivas just contacted me that they had a fullset abandoned order they can ship me bc my fullset is taking so long! I'm so happy!!!! Fuya is coming home after so long :XD:

      • x 5
    49. Man, those wings! Welp, I guess I'll be looking for a split partner to get a Nicola body once my finances calm back down. I need that body for my Flower and Junior Mizi.W.

    50. @honchodolls Congrats!! The wait is almost over!

@nissi_nirvani I do remember seeing a note that while the body sans wings is available for purchase by itself, if you want the body with wings you do have to buy the full doll. I may have picked a difficult first doll to paint/blush, those wings are going to be a challenge!

    51. BJDivas said that I can contact them about finding a split or there is always the marketplace here. I actually could have had one already but I needed WS, not NS. I so very much do not need another floating head, lol!

    52. Oh, that's nice! I never thought of contacting the dealer for a possible split. I'm just starting my collection so no floating heads for me, at least not yet haha!

    53. You should remove the head to put the eyes in, theres no easy way to do it around the hook. Especially because many of my dc dolls have odd shapes/tiny heads.

Also with the horns I find putting a magent under the wig (with glue that can be removed) on the scalp has worked well. Then the magnet isnt so far inside resin it doesnt work, but is hidden under hair. I have at times wished they did indents for horns like other brands, but now that Ive started playing with undercuts and shaved hair Im glad they dont as I wont always use the horns for my own ocs. It can be such a pain though to figure out, eyes are easy, even lashes, compared to horns when they send weak magnets.

    54. I'm finally (finally!) down to four. I wouldn't normally either, but when I commented on the picture when Nicola came out they mentioned it. If all else fails, I'll order the whole doll and hope the head sells.

    55. Just couldn't resist Xiaoli anymore, she was is stock nude white skin at jeeryama's ebay store and I have just started a layaway (not reasonnable, but done)

      • x 1
    56. Bjdivas still hasn't shipped out fuya... USPS says the label was made but that it hasn't been received. I go on a week vacation Sunday I wanted her before then. This is getting kind of frustrating

    57. They're in the middle of a move right now so it's natural things are going to be much slower. Plus it's likely that they rely on USPS' pickup service? I've seen lots of face-up artists and doll clothes makers rely on pickups because it isn't always possible to make runs to the post office and still keep on schedule for production, so I'd imagine that's doubly true for a business that ships out as a regular part of their work? Anyway, I've seen enough from these individual artisans that USPS isn't always reliable when it comes to pickups so...

      • x 1
    58. Yeah I knew about that all, apparently USPS didn't pick up their packages yesterday. Anyways it's in transit now.
