Doll Chateau Kid Dolls Discussion: Part 7

Guys if you don't mind me asking TTuTT I finally put my order for my Austin and Colin in after getting sidetracked at least four times this year (I suppose, good job DC for the amazing event dolls to push me to take the dive)... Just curious though, what size eyes do you guys use for Colin? I plan to open the eyes of mine just a little to bring him closer to how my character looks and I don't want the eyes to gap if I get them in a size too small >__<; I'd ask for Austin too but I've literally never seen one owned by anyone... ever... so I suppose I'll wait for him to experiment once he's here... Also do you prefer 6-7 or 7-8 wigs on them? My Hugh is wearing a large-ish 6-7 I believe and fits him just a bit snuggly but I'm not sure if there are differences between the heads...

And I'll leave you with a picture of Mephy, that I honestly cannot recall if I've ever posted on DoA or not with how wishy washy I've been in this thread, as an apology for spamming you with questions you've probably answered a million times before.

I'm currently planning out my first DC doll and I was wondering, does anybody here know if the DC 1/4 jointed hands will fit on the K-01 body at all?

I just put the jointed hands on my centaur, but I'm not sure if they will fit the k-01. I would certainly think so.

 

Thanks @Beansproutmomo I hope to get Bella but I'm also thinking about maybe getting Elizabeth on the K-07 body, or perhaps making her a hybrid and putting her on Dollzone's b45-012 body instead. Haven't quite decided yet. It'll be a few months before I can get either one of them though so right now I'm just planning them out.
I can't see why the jointed hands wouldn't fit, but I emailed DC about them and they said they don't fit the K-01 body, but on all the pages with the bodies that have jointed hands (K-11, K-07 etc) it says "The hand and feet of this body can use for other kid body." so now I'm just confused Unless someone confirms they don't fit, I'll probably chance it and order some along with Bella since I can't imagine the wrists on the different bodies are THAT different.

 

@Zaliayn, ooooh I see! Maybe it has to do with the wrist-ball not fitting into the socket correctly. This might be fixable with a sanding mod though.
What we need is a size comparison between the K-01 wrist openings, and the later models.

And thank you everyone for your kind words about Mephy! ;v; When I first saw DCs it was on their body detail shots and they had Bella and Hugh modeling... I fell in so much love with the Hugh since, like, honestly... I'm really missing him while I'm away from home though... same for all my dolls that had to be left behind. xD;

 

If it's just a little sanding needed then that wouldn't be a problem, although after scouring flickr I think I've found a K-01 using them, a Queena that I believe belongs to [MENTION=67475]kamia[/MENTION] .So at least I know that they can fit, even if they needed some modding done, which is great as I love the look of DC's jointed hands.

 

Ooo, hello! Yes, I do own a Queena on K-01 with jointed hands. The wrist joint is identical to the one for the non-jointed hands. It's worth noting I bought her second hand though so I didn't make her hybrid personally! Everything works fine with the jointed hands on K-01

If there is some adjustment needed I wouldn't sand the opening I would do the boiling water trick, dip the wrist into the water until it softens a bit then use the wrist ball of the hand to push it open. There are tutorials in the workshop on how to do it.
I want to put the jointed hands on my Colin after he arrives, he is on the k-01 body.

Thanks for the tip SteamWitch. It would never have occurred to me to boil the wrist - it would be a lot more straight forward than sanding - but hopefully the hands will fit fine without the need to do anything. It would be great to hear how it went with putting them on your Colin when he gets to you.

She's so pretty kamia, and the hands definitely suit her. I'm glad to see photos of them on the body - I'll definitely be ordering a pair when I order my doll then

Can someone with an Elizabeth PM me please? I need a few measurements, like what Eye size she takes.

Okay it looks like 12mm fits best. If anyone has comments on what fits the rare K-09 body that Elizabeth has as an option, I'd love to know more.

 

[MENTION=39311]Rosslyn[/MENTION], I don't have Elizabeth, but if I can read Angelesque's pictures right, the K-09 body is identical to K-07 excluding the ankle and wrist joints. So what fits K-07 should fit K-09 too.

 

Speaking of eye sizes... I asked before but I'm about to make my order... XD would 14 or 12mm eyes fit better in a Colin? I was thinking 14 since mako eyes -Which I'm getting- run a little small to my knowledge, but I'm not sure?

I've been struggling finding a wig I like for my Bella, Andromeda. I finally found a wig I like from Leeke, but I have brown and blonde. My dollie friends say blonde, what do you guys think, is this a good look?



The brown wig is identical, but, you guessed it, brown.

 

She is so sweet. I think the long curls look lovely on her, it suits her calm expression. The brown would look terrific, too, I'm sure. I think it comes down to what you like. Try them on her, see which one makes you smile. (That's how I choose anything artistic - took me a long time to figure out that simple rule). I would choose the brown, I know - I love the dramatic contrast between light skin and dark hair - but she is yours. Make yourself smile.

 

I have 14s in mine - they're similar in size to makos I think...so they'd probably work.

12s might look better, but his eyes are wide, so 14s fit better (no gapping)

And I wanted to share my Elizabeth, who is actually a guy....and has a face so he can finally take off the mask.



Does anyone with the k07 or similar size body have theirs wired?? My usual wire is pretty thick and I doubt it'll fit....I was just wondering what else would work.

Thank you!! I made...some of it. Sort of. My friend made him the pants, and gave me that shirt, which I dyed and tied with a piece of the burlap. I made the mask and hat. And wig. I love the hat. It's my favorite thing - it's got wire so I can shape it!

I can't wait for my Colin to get here, but I'm broke so I have to wait out my self imposed layaway plan . I'm dying to make clothes for his skinny little body.

Wow, all this guys are simply gorgeus! Doll Chateau dolls are just so... eerie in a lovely way!

I'm planning to order DC Charles (he will be an artificial dragon in a human body) but so far I haven't been able to decide which body I should get for him. I simply love the newer ones (especially k-12 and -06) but I have to admit I'm a little worried about the proportions! Those long, lean legs and arms could make it difficult to find any suitable clothes for my guy. And should I ever get some company for my Charles it might end up difficult to match the scale with any other mini dolls... Not to talk about the fact that I'm not sure which kid bodies Charles' head would even fit, since the oldest kid bodies have the neck size of 6 cm and the head is said to fit the body with the neck size of 5,8 cm...

Too many choices and too many things to find out before I can actually order! XD Still I can't wait to some day have a DC of my own

 

My Chael (Colin) is the Pied Piper for now. I'm sure this outfit will fit his DC kid body when it arrives in December (or earlier). He has the face of someone who will steal your children if you don't pay for services rendered.

i've been so absent lately with moving and this stupid broken ankle...lovely dolls everyone!!

 

Just dropping out of stalk-mode for a moment as I am still waiting for my boy *cries*. Everyone's dolls look so beautiful!

I received my NP jointed hands from the MP today and I'm stunned by the delicate, sleek beauty of the sculpt! I have been playing with them non-stop lol The posing and fluidity of the hands is gorgeous.
So happy I was able to grab them!

I am having difficulties in choosing a body for my Charles. His default body is a K-08 (neck size 5.8cm, 52cm) and I prefer the K-12 (neck size 5.5cm, 50.5cm) if I look at the body only. Lance has a 16.5cm head (shoulder width 8.5cm) and Charles has a 17cm head (shoulder width 8.5cm). I am worried that Charles head 'slips' on the K12 and looks slightly too big on it.
Has anybody got a Charles on a K12 body? What worry me with the K08 body is that I have seen a few pictures with the neck extension removed.(fretting over nothing...probably).

Alchimere, I've just discovered we have the Kind of same problem!

EDIT: I just brought this problem to my bestfriend, whose remark was: ''he is too pretty, keep looking, you haven't found the right one yet.''. She didn't like Lance that much either (he was my first love on that new body). . On the plus side, she agrees Elizabeth is fantastic.

EDIT2: kID Elizabeth with 2 bodies? the Spider one + the K12? her head is 16.7cm and her neck is 5.7cm. It could work. It would be the first time I would have a floating body. I keep seeing Lance with wings.

It never ceases to Amaze me how inventive these sculpts are and how they inspire everyone so creatively - Loving all the piX!

I am looking forward to the next Doll Chateau event. I am not buying my Elizabeth till I see it. Or the next event if any new sculpt does not interest me. The great thing with Halloween coming is that a lot of fabrics are designed with spiders and web in mind. It is the perfect time of the year to buy for a little spider.

I am still not happy with either the Lance sculpt (no smile, not many owners' pictures, but great proportions, and I have a head who has the same lack of eyebrow archs and it is a nightmare to give it a face up) or the Charles sculpt (he was released with Elizabeth so they kinda match, I would like to see more of him, he Is pretty but I worry he would indeed jar with the rest of my crew).

Historically, Doll Chateau next event is around the 15 November...the wait is going to be so hard!

LIttleWinter, I couldn't believe how nice the jointed hands were when I saw them for real. So delicate!

 

My full Colin is scheduled to be here on Thursday by end of day. I have been surprised occasionally and have them arrive early. I like those kinds of surprises.
Meanwhile I'm working on his demon side. not sure if he will remain as I have him now or if I'll get a wild hair and wipe it.

@Lilla Waiting on events is always a smart thing to do! Even if what's offered for it doesn't interest you, you can always sell it secondhand to someone who wanted it but didn't manage to get on the event so that's pure profit for both people. I've had my two on my wishlist for longer than I can remember but it was the lovely little Jakov that was offered in the event that really finally gave me the push I needed to go ahead and take the plunge. That being said though... I didn't manage to hold off when I bought Mephy (my Hugh) I wanted him so badly that the moment I had enough funds I rushed ahead and placed the order for him.

 

Thanks I am looking forward to Colin's arrival. It is interesting watching FedEx, they track the truck your package is in. It went through Arkansas and now is in Fort Worth. Getting closer now that it's in the same state but Texas is so darn big.
