Doll Chateau Kid Dolls Discussion: Part 7

Jan 31, 2015

1. Congrats ! its so exciting !

2. Out of curiosity, does anyone have an austin? If so, what size of eyes do you find fits him best?

3. @konakona135, here is Lenore in the 5-7 inch alpaca wig. I use the 6.5-7" lengths on the lowest layers and the 5-6" lengths on the top layers (except for the part). If you cut the lengths of alpaca in half, I would think that would give you a perfect shoulder-length 'do.

P.S. Somebody ages ago asked what Queena looks like with 12mm eyes. Here you go! :) They are Makos. DAN-022, I think.

4. Oh wow urbanizer, thank you so much! Your wig is really pretty. May I ask what method you used for the part? Lenore is quite a beauty :D

5. hellooo!
I have a dc bella incoming who's body I'm going to snatch for my minifee nanuri14 head.
since I'm going to be restringing the body to put on a minifee neck mechanism when she arrives, I was thinking I may go ahead and suede her while I'm at it.
anyone who has experience with the k-01 body have any recommendations? is sueding worth it, or no?

6. Why thank you! :) I used the fold-over method. It was easy enough but I haven't quite figured out the back. You can see it on my flickr stream.

7. Alright, I will! Thank you again:)

8. EleanorAnne OMG yes. Sueding is definitely worth it, especially the hips! I haven't done knees or elbows, since there's not much room, but hips, shoulders, and head/neck were a must.

9. iwasteela - thank you <3
I was figuring I'd probably have to do something with the neck 'cause I think the minifee neck mechanism is bigger around than the doll chateau neck so I want to try and help that fit a little better. I will add hips and shoulders to the list!

10. Odd question. Does anyone have a normal skin Resinsoul and a normal yellow skin Doll Chateau? I need a resin comparison.

Also, when you order a head only from Denver Doll Emporium / Doll Chateau, does it come with the certificate of authenticity?

11. The heads come with certificate. To my knowledge, resinsoul normal is closer to normal pink from DC, but they have a resin matching service.

12. Thanks Skimo. I am hoping to order a head at the same time I place another order, but am very wary of ordering unless I get a certificate with the head. Because of that that will not be spoken.

13. Mortifox posted resin comp. photo on RS thread.

14. :sumomo: Thank you ever so much!

15. You are welcome. :)

16. I suede knees too, but you have to get it smooth outer it makes things worse ;)

19. aww thanks! i did finally trim her wig, but she is still really far from done. she needs a faceup, she will be getting new eyes, a more frosty color instead of the teal, and quartz points added all over her body like ice growing out of her skin. :D here's a pic from the Boston meet I went to back in the spring.

20. Been a long time! I need to get better pics but with moving things have been a bit tough. Here's my Urda in her new home :)

21. Bambi Darling wow Urda looks amazing. so different from the original Barbara look.

22. we really need more pics of the Barbara. She is gorgeous.

23. Thank you :D I agree more pics and different styling!

24. Considering how well Queena works as my ghostly Lenore, I think you'll be quite happy with Douglas for your little dead boy. :)

I absolutely adore your Urda, as usual! :D

25. Amazing !!!

30. She is fabulous MissEmily x

31. MissEmily Completely bonkers for your Lance!! Congratulations! :D

32. Does anyone know for certain if the Elizabeth head is compatible with the kid body-01?

33. My Elizabeth head is packed, but I am sure she would fit the K1 body, there is not too much difference in neck size.

34. Thank you for your reply, Skimo. I hope you are right because I prefer the kid body - 01 aesthetically to the default human body for Elizabeth. I need to be 100% sure that the fit will be perfect, though, before I order it. I will try and contact Doll Chateau directly and ask. Should have thought of that before! :doh

In the meantime, if anyone has given their Elizabeth the kid body - 01, please post a photo of her, if you can. Thank you!

35. If you want I can try my Lydia head on a K2 body (both k1 of mine have a mnf neck connector...)

36. Thank you for offering to do this, Skimo. Even if the Lydia head and K2 body are compatible, I do not know if this will guarantee compatibility between the Elizabeth head and regular K1 body (without any connector/adaptor/modification). The Lydia/Elizabeth heads and K1/K2 bodies are different from each other, yes? Not sure. I am trying to contact Doll Chateau.

37. K2's neck is slightly larger than the K1 and Lydia's neck (K11) is from DC measurements thinner that the K1... (but compagnies measurement are not always the most accurate)

You know La Résinerie, the french DC retailer offers the choice of multiple bodies on almost all the DC kids, MiniVega wouldn't do it if they didn't fit...

My Lydia head is on a Dollzone B45-012 which neck is larger than the K1/K2/K7/K11, it's a tiny smidge too large but not enough for me to decide to mod it...

Edit : I just remembered that I had an Elizabeth on the DZ B45-012 body, the neck-head fit was comparable to Lydia's

38. Forgot to share this here! >_<
I just got my hybrid girl back from her faceup and body blushing by Mil_Mascaras. Sooo happy with her!
Going to start working on her wig and eyes soon, and make her some clothes.

Matar is home! by Morgan McPherson, on Flickr

39. Thank you very much, Skimo. I have bookmarked the website of La Résinerie to explore later. Interesting comparison photo. Lydia and Elizabeth look good on their DZ bodies. I did not consider these before. The more body options, the better. Was it easy to match the skin tones? Do you find the DZ bodies easier to pose / handle / less kicky than the DC ones, or about the same?

@ Beansproutmomo: Matar is so cute. I hope she does not mind me calling her cute! I have enough difficulty controlling two-legged dolls. Four legged dolls must be quite a challenge to pose, string and make clothes for. Love her tail!

40. Gothico, Doll Chateau and Dollzone are sister companies so their resins match one another. (I'm currently waiting on a Doll Chateau/Dollzone hybrid myself in normal yellow.):)

41. Thanks!! hehe she doesn't mind. ^_^
She is a bit wonky to pose, since her legs want to knock together, but after a bit of balancing she does well. Her upper torso and arms/hands are no problem though!
Matar currently has the jointed hands on as well, since she had a little mishap with her regular hands. (they are getting repaired though, so she'll have two sets!)

The White resins from DC and DZ aren't too bad a match at all. Especially if you are adding a faceup~
I didn't have to mod my girl at all either, just popped her head on. :D

42. I am pleased to hear this. Thank you very much for letting me know. I look forward to seeing your hybrid. Which head / body?

@ Beansproutmomo: Does Matar like to kneel and raise her hands to her face a lot? My DC Bella does this all the time. These are the two things that both frustrate and amuse me about DC bodies. I think DC dolls are weird, ethereal and wonderful. Never dull.

43. I am getting a DC Alberta head in a split and a DZ Renata body (the one with the twig limbs) which I ordered separately. She's going to be my ultimate flora/fauna forest spirit.:) I just made sure that as soon as my split partner ordered the Alberta, I ordered the Renata at the same time so there wouldn't be any age-related yellowing issues between them.

Beansproutmomo, your Matar is truly magnificent! She's so unique and dynamic a character, and I'll really be looking forward to seeing her with a new wig and eyes.:D

44. Oh how wonderful! I recently purchased just the Renata arms for a pumpkin headed hybrid. ^_^ They are tough to string together, but really pretty.
Your hybrid sounds great, can't wait to see!

Thank you so much! Always a bit wary of posting her here, because of the DZ head, but she IS on a DC body that doesn't get shown much. XD hehe

45. What a great combo! In my imagination, your hybrid looks incredible already. She will turn heads, I am sure. It will be interesting to see how you dress her. :) Those twig limbs look even more challenging to handle than four legs!

46. Does anyone know what happened to doll-chateau site and email? How can I contact them now??

47. I do not know why their website is down, but here is the contact email address I have for them:

[email protected]

48. I wrote to this email yesterday and today and I became only this:
Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently: [email protected]

So I think maybe there is some other way to contact them.

49. I really wonder what happened... Maybe dollzone knows since they are sister companies. Or ask a place like mint on card BC perhaps they were given alternate information BC they're a dealer that the site and contact would be down?

50. I heard they had to many orders

51. Perhaps you can send them a private message through DoA or is that not allowed? I am not sure. Their user ID here is sales@doll-chateau.

52. Thank you very mush, I will try here.

53. Hello everyone
My Elizabeth is called Tiu
[IMG]

54. She's so beautiful! Love the colors she's blushed in. :D

I had a question for people here~
Does anyone have tips on posing the jointed msd hands? Just got them on my centaur girl, and they are trickier than I thought. XD

55. She's very pretty! I like her colors

The only real tip I can think of is just to make sure the thumb is not flipped backwards (it's the flippiest of the digits) - I tend to make the (what I think of as classic) comic-book-girl-hand pose - pointer finger higher, the rest of the fingers trailing down. Which would make more sense if I could post a photo....which I can't do because flickr has chosen now to suck hard.

Lets try links
This one is the Y-03, but same basic hand....just bigger
https://www.flickr.com/photos/vampyre_angel13/9841503183/in/album-72157646768461996/

and

https://www.flickr.com/photos/vampyre_angel13/20227688824/in/dateposted-public/

That's pretty much what I do with them XD

I snuck back into this thread because I just got an Elizabeth of my own - he's blank atm...but in that mask who can tell?

56. Beansproutmomo ha ha the best poses!! I'm not sure they're made to do much more than look really graceful/creepy. Depending on your doll. They're so much easier than normal jointed hands tho, I go totally insane trying to keep track of all those fingers. Which is why I got some of the DC hands for my Colin. Sadly they're smaller than his default hands - which I thought where too small. So I'm not sure they're going to last.

57. @VampireAngel13
haha indeed! Glad to know I haven't been doing it all wrong. The thumb does seem to want to swivel sometimes, but it's an easy adjustment. (If I catch it before taking a photo lol)
I still have the default centaur hands, but the thumb on one is being repaired for me. (It decided to snap off randomly on the faceup artist, I felt so bad!)

The single jointing on these hands is definitely easier looking to manage than the multi-jointed hands. XD I may try to get some extras eventually for my other dolls, if the fit and size are ok. I know what you mean about the hands being too small...I have a few with hands that just seem too big. Need to remedy that...
