Right, I should have clarified I meant do they have larger feet than the basic adult boys? My Erwin's foot is maybe 7.5cm?

 

Anyone have an idea of how the wig on Kevin is made? Looks like yarn... maybe a hard-cap?

 

i have no idea, but i need him as a fullset, badly. he's gorgeous!

 

It's GOT to be yarn! Cut and styled of course. It's pretty far-out! The wings on these two are crazy cool too!

 

Hello, I own 4 doll chateau dolls. I have to say the new Kevin doll is very creative and very desirable. I was going to get the full set but, that adds up to $1180 for one doll. Really? Does anyone else think this price is out of line?

 

Sounds like Soom/Volks prices... Too much for me :S

 

@Manscan I spent that much on Mephisto. Almost exactly that much, actually. I think it just depends on if Kevin's worth it to you. Those wings are probably pretty hard to produce so I understand that they'd cost a lot.

If this body had been out when I ordered, I might have gotten it instead of the embossed body. Maybe I can get the wings in a split and mod his body to be able to take them....

For the record..I LOVE the jointed feet. I put shoes on. Then take them right off. I am thinking flip flops might be the answer for me. I am constantly messing with all those toes.

Okay!! I order through DDE and originally only order Mephisto.Pheles (plus some extras) but once I saw Kevin I contacted DDE and added him to my order on an extended 5month layaway payment. I love DDE

Kevin is way cool- from the body's buy page it looks like the wings are partially jointed? Anyways, his fullset is badass. Love that outfit.

Oh man, I look at the DC website now and then and mmmaaannn one day I want to save up for a few of them!! At first I didn't think I'd enjoy their sculpts, but the more I've looked at them the more I enjoy their uniqueness. Someday!!

Chalco hooves fit perfectly on the Mephisto body with absolutely no modification whatsoever! Even the elastic was the right length!

kittydorkdork- very pretty! She's giving me a pseudo hippy/bohemian sort of vibe. The clothes, pose and slight desaturation remind me of W magazine photoshoots, for some reason. Just rings a bell.

Spookyjester- Pizza and Nightshade just seems like such a comical combo to me, haha. I always like seeing him though- fun mods are just adorable and he's one of the unique ones out there (dem teefs!)

Finally got my guy in, at long last and I finally was able to post his box opening without the forum eating my posts for unexplained reasons.

Got a couple of questions about these big guys- first of all, I'd read that 8/9 was the wig size for them, but that almost doesn't seem right?... It's not that his wig slips off, but it just seems to sit on his head in a really different way than my DZ Chen (Dok), and they have the exact same size and style of wig (just different colors). I had noticed the head shape for DCs was a little bit funny, but could this be what's going on?... Keep wondering if I should trim it but I'm terrified of trimming such a nice wig.

The other question is that his finger joints came in already a little chewed up with teenie tiny pieces of loose resin and flakes and such- did this happen to anyone else? Sorry for the questions- this is my first doll straight from the workshop.

Here's just a snapshot of him, excuse the blankness as well as the slight wig issues that he was having that first day. I've started to be able to tame it a bit today- maybe Monique Gold wigs just take some time to settle in?... But he's starting to take shape!


And just in case, I'll post this here too.. here's the sketchy mock-up I just did for my plans for his faceup.... It's not quite finalized but I'm hoping I can get better at faceups and sort of pull off something a bit like this. The cracks/scars should look a little less dark on the final, if I do them right. I'm also planning on having one run all the way around his extra neck joint, I think? Just for fun? If I can get it off that is- I'm sort of dreading taking apart this guy to restring him....I'm not sure I understand how he works, ha.

For reference, Nightshade's wig is from For my Doll and it's 8/9- and it's just eeeever so slightly loose on him? but 7/8 is much too small, I tried my youth boy's wig on him and it didn't fit at all. They could have a funny shaped head, like their funny shaped every other part. Awesome mockup btw, looking forward to it!

 

He does make me laugh- but not in a bad way! I just tend to find most spookier BJDs downright adorable and loveable.

Good to know I'm not going crazy with the wig! My guys' is a Monique Gold and its super nice if finicky but yeah, I kept adjusting it going "wtf? is this fitting? or not?". Haha, they DO have funky shaped everything. You may have a point there and our possible answer. Good to know you were able to check it against a smaller wig size. All my guys take an 8/9 wig so I have no way of checking and I don't know any doll owners who live close by.
Thanks! It's a super quick mock-up and I can't decide on the eyebrows yet. I know I'll be trying to give him and Dok sort of similar eyebrows because they're meant to echo one another. I'm thinking of doing his first rather than redoing the other two guy's faceups, just because I'm super gung ho about making him a weird albino creation. Poor guy doesn't have a name yet either!

Von Alk - I have a Monique gold 8/9 on my Dolores with on e of those silicone wig caps. It's a little loose . I had to style the hair a bit. I think it needs some hair gel or something. The "bangs" seem a little long but I don't want to cut them. BTW, love ur mock up.

There are like three Doll Chateau Dolls I want to get there kinda scary but that's y I love them.

 

has anyone tried different hands on the y-02 60cm boy body? or any of the bodies for that matter? I was thinking of putting Soom Amber hands on him since they're long and slender like the bodies.

 

Decided to post a pic of Mephisto, who came a few days ago. I got him on Dolores's embossed body and DC kindly agreed to blush the embossing to match the horns. I'm very happy with him, with the only problem being the black pants I bought for him were way too big. I'll have to make my own. I also have trouble standing him with those huge horns. I even wired his legs and he still has a lot of trouble. But he's so pretty I don't care if he can't stand.

Alystair- goodness! What a good idea! The embossed body really helps to balance out the horns.

Here's my new guy! This is my third faceup ever so I think it's not too shabby! He needs low dome eyes so the difference between the two can be seen. I might redo the stitches on his extra neck peice sometime too. Basically he's meant to be an albino looking frankenstien's creature type of creation of one of my other dolls. I wish I could get a better photo of the brushwork around his eyes.

Aernath- thankyou very much! Yes it's faceup number three! My first faceup was barely passable, done about... 6 years ago? Then after getting this guy I really wanted to try my hand at it again. I'm glad I did! I learned a lot, especially about controling a liner brush.

Alystair- Holy crap is he cool! I seriously did NOT like the Dolores embossing on their site with the dark blushing. But in the green to match the horns it is amazing! Just love it!

For those who tried earlier only to see a bunch of broken images, here. I fixed them.

 

I have just realized that the A01 body is sold out... and there hasn't been any annoucement from Doll Chateau... at least Olivia can still be ordered, but still... it's another case of good communication!

 

Yes it's true ... no more A-01 and Olivia if ordered will come with the Y-03 body.

 

That's shocking! So.. Olivia will come with the extra jointed body?

 

So no more A01 at all... it's sad... it was a really lovely body...

 

Yes... it's a lovely body even though it's DC's 1st version of adult girl body.. my Olivia is still on A01

 

They stopped selling that body and the youth girl body when they stopped production of almost all their adult girls (except olivia). I found that the newest youth girl body actually has much of the same measurements as the A-01 body, and actually looks to be larger than the A-01 in some areas o.O

 

BTW Olivia has disapeared from the Doll Chateau website... only her head is left...

 

Hey everyone, sorry if this has been asked before but I scoured the forum and couldn't see anything, so I'm going to ask here if that's ok
Im seriously considering saving up to get a fullset Kevin because ahhhh he is so gorgeous! And I'm absolutely in love with his wig.
but, on the DC website, there's all the pretty pictures of him, and then him with a different face up and a blonde wig saying 'this wig will be sent with your doll' or words to that effect. Does that mean if I order the fullset, I'll get the blonde wig instead of his beautiful red dread one? I'm just a little confused, I'm not quite used to buying dolls just yet and don't really know what to expect

 

On the picture with the blond wig I think it's Erwin and not Kevin... and indeed the fullset wig is the blond one... sadly... you may be able to commission someone to make this kind of wig or use a DIY tutorial to make one...

 

Oh really? That's such a shame why do they change the wigs? I was going to buy from angelesque, and there's no mention at all of it being a different wig. Is that standard practice, or is this an unusual case?
Might have to rethink if I want the fullset, one of the things that really sold it for me was that beautiful wig (silly, I know!) hmm....

I guess that the wig on the promotion pictures is a OOAK or even that the hairs are directly glued on Kevin's head...

Hi everyone - I've just fallen in love with Christina after seeing this box opening http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...rst-Doll-Chateau-girl-Lividia!-(DC-Christina) mainly because it's the first time I've seen a DC body with no extra wrist and ankle joints! Am I guessing right when I think this must be the A-01 body which you are saying is now discontinued?

 

Sorry elve, yes that seems to be the A-01 body.
I have here some photos I took when I got a Christina on a Y-03 body and swaped heads to see how Christina looked with the A-01 body (just leave a photo here so you can see the difference between both bodies, the Y-03 is without extra joints)

 

thanks for that photo Graratiam It seems DC have moved away from that graceful aesthetic now I like the willowy limbs on the old body, although the extra joints on the new bodies are interesting in a different way - they are more kind of 'skeletal' I think? They're quite chunky and sturdy-looking compared to the old body too
