Ellowyne Stripes arrived yesterday. She is a beautiful strong young woman. She reminds me of Emily Deschanel as Temperance 'Bones' Brennan. It was a challange to find her place. I don't like her next to the older Ellowyne, they don't blend well together. Stripes looks sad, i told her, she had to go if she won't fit in. I rearranged the shelf a few times and finally Serious Intention build a bridge.
I love all of your Elloyne's I have to say though, I HATE shoes that have to be tied! It's much harder to tie tiny things when you get older. I like the look of the sandals but think they would be just as cute as slip on or snap/zip in the back.
How exciting! New Tonner treasure! Congratulations BrigitteJ! She’s very pretty! Glad you were able to find a bridge for her into your collection of Ellowynes.
Glad she arrived nice and safe! I get what you're saying. I think the new Ello's are pretty, but frankly I don't see them in the same way as the Ello's I collected. I know Tonner made use of the name recognition, but he could have very well made her the 'sister' of Ellowyne. I've never watched 'Bones'. Does she resemble Temperance in expression or facial features?
Wow! That doll is really pretty, Stellarphenomena. I love her high-color face-up. Tonner did a beautiful job on her. The autumn colors really bring out her striking features. As for Autumn, here in southern California we’re still in summer mode with temps in the 90s. (*Sigh*. I can’t wait for cooler temperatures.)
Hi Everyone! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Anyone still hoping for a new Tonner doll? The reason I'm popping in is because I found this site with some Tonner merch being sold. MetroDolls: SALES You really have to be following closely to catch what's he's doing now... he's doing special editions here and there for various clubs/stores. He recently did a limited edition Ellowyne (100) for the online store Happily Ever After. I didn't get her, didn't appeal to me. Cheers!
Hi Stellarphenomena! Thanks for the holiday wishes! Hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful, too. I’m still feeling stuffed from yesterday’s feasting. Today I was laying low and watching old movies. But, as far as my husband is concerned, Christmas has officially started. He’s busy digging out the Xmas decorations from the garage. I am so not ready for Christmas…. Holy smokes! This year just went by too fast!!! Thanks for the link to MetroDolls! They have some cool stuff. And thanks for your eagle-eye on Tonner’s activities. I’ll have to check out Happily Ever After. I bought my first Tonner American Model from them a million years ago. No, I don’t have any plans to buy any new Tonners. I keep checking-out Ebay to see if anything catches my eye, but nothing so far. Actually, I really need to pay some attention to the Tonners I already have. Always nice to hear from you! Hope your Christmas holidays are great!
I'm always amazed at your knowledge of sites I never new existed for dolls! I do the same all the time but haven't found anything yet. I would really, really, really like to find his Snow White 16" doll and would love to have his Disney American Model dolls. There's a Cinderella AM on eBay right now but that price is way out of budget for a non-resin doll.
Hey Mu Shu! Happy Holidays to you! I’ve always liked Tonner’s fairytale dolls. I’d love to get his 16” Alyce Re-Imagined from 2007, but prices for that doll are insane! If you can even find her. But, it’s always fun to look. Let me say again that it’s always nice to hear from both you and Stellarphenomena! Hope things are going well for you, Mu Shu! Best wishes to you for a wonderful Christmas Season.
All three are lovely, but you know I really just love the painted eyed dolls the best. They all have great fashions though and their boots and shoes - sometimes I wish my feet could still handle cutesy shoes and boots.
@Mu Shu: Agree! Unfortunately I don't think they ever made Lizette with painted eyes (?) I wish when I grouped them all together they looked the same. The glass eyes look so vacant most the time. Lizette's are some of the better ones. I have a whole tub of cute shoes that I pretend some day I can wear again...
@Brigitte - I am very envious of your Ellowyne collection! I too really love the older dolls. @stellarphenomena - I believe there are actually 3 Lizette's with painted eyes. I had one once and regret letting her go because her secondary market prices are too much for me to pay. Here's one on eBay right now RARE HTF 2013 Tonner Wilde Imagination Ellowyne Wilde "Woefully Rich" Lizette | eBay and this one that I have wanted for some time Tonner Wilde Weekend Secret Garden Ivy Lizette doll NRFB LE 200 Ellowyne | eBay
@stellarphenomena: I too would do Woefully Rich but that price I believe there was a Basic doll release that had painted eyes and there was a Lizette called A New Girl in Town that has painted eyes and is one I have been trying to get for some time but she has normally been over $350 and that is more than I'm willing to pay. Wilde Imagination - Ellowyne Wilde - Lizette - A New Girl in Town - Doll
Definitely went by fast! Ellowyne Wilde (5) par Mu Shu, on ipernity I so need to get some updated doll pictures!
DANG! What is the deal??? I am not getting notifications on this thread, even though I am certainly signed up to get them! That is so annoying! Stellarphenomena, OMG! 2022 just flew by! I can’t believe we are already into 2023. Your Wonder Woman is so amazing! I love her! Mu Shu, your girls are so lovely! I also need to take some updated pictures of my dolls this year. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Stellarphenomena and Mu Shu, looking back, were there any memorable doll acquisitions in 2022?
I didn't add any new Tonner dolls last year or resin dolls either. But I did finally bring home my AG Caroline Abbot doll which I was super happy to have finally got. Also, I managed to get the Hawaii and Mexico Disney It's a Small World Dolls (animator size). Those 2 had been insanely expensive for some reason but I managed to be on the bay at just the right time to snag them for around $60. The only one I don't have is England and that boy has not been up for under $500 and I'm not paying that for an animator doll! Really for Tonner dolls, I would love to find the 16" Snow White doll. I would also LOVE to have the American Model Disney Princess dolls Belle, Cinderella and Aurora.
Oooooh! Mu Shu, someone is a Disney Princess girl! I heard Mattel won back the contract to make Disney Princesses again. Hope they do a good job with the new princesses. It seemed like collectors were not happy with Hasbro when they had the contract. For 2022, I did get a doll I have wanted for years. After I mentioned her to you and Stellarphenomena, in our conversation thread, my sweet Husband went looking for her and surprised me for our anniversary. He found me a Momoko “Mama Told Me” doll from 2006. Eeeeek! I was so excited to finally have her! She is so cute! (My Hubby is my worst enabler. ) I did have my eye on a Au Milieu de L’Hiver Tyler Wentworth from 2008, but I got outbid. Someday, she will be mine! (I would post a picture of her, but the Dreamcastle site seems to be down. I sure hope they haven’t gone away! I really depend on them for almost all the archival photos of Tonner’s dolls.)
@Rabbit-moon @Mu Shu: Happy New Year! Wow, I just realized how little I've been buying! Neema and an Azone 1/6 the only ones I bought - love them both. I still look at dolls all the time, but I'm happy doing just that and am no longer compelled to buy.
@Rabbit-moon: Here's the repost of links for Au Milieu de L’Hiver! https://www.pinterest.com/ozdollmania/au-milieu-de-lhiver-tyler-2008-le100/
Stellarphenomena, I forgot that you had written that you fancied her. Wow! Thanks for the link. She sure is a beautiful doll. Actually, I never thought to buy her before. She’s a lovely doll but she was never on my radar for some reason. I guess I was too distracted by the Tyler2 in the modern red suit, Crimson on Park. But I saw an Ebay posting for L'Hiver a few weeks back, and she looked so beautiful, I couldn’t resist. Sadly, I didn’t win her. Next time I see her on Ebay, I will let you know. I’d love to see you get her, instead of me. I actually have my Grail Tonner, Renaissance; Au Milieu de L’Hiver was just a whim for me.
@Rabbit-moon: Aw, thanks for thinking of me but I'm not buying any more Tonners, just have to enjoy looking! What did she go for?
Yeah, I said that, too. No more Tonners....and yet there I was bidding. She went for about $350.00, which actually wasn't that insane a price for a limited edition, but I had capped myself at $300.00. It was Christmas time and my funds were already stretched thin. I would have loved to have gotten her, but luckily it didn't kill me to lose her. Maybe next time.
She is gorgeous!! Sigh. My cap for Tonner was $200. I don't think I could ever get a good doll for that anymore.
She reminds me of my AA Winter Solstice American Model Winter Solstice (1) par Mu Shu, on ipernity She is definitely a gorgeous doll!
I hear ya Stellarphenomena! Two-hundred bucks doesn't go very far anymore when it comes to buying Tonner dolls these days. Even the nude dolls with no original outfits are going for crazy prices. When we first started this thread in 2017 you could still pick up a random full-set Tyler (or friends) for under $100 dollars. Man! Those days are gone! Mu Shu, Wow! That girl is a beauty! Would love to see a full shot of her outfit. It looks amazing. I have such a soft spot for Tonner's American Models. Those big girls are the ones that introduced me to the world of Tonner back in 1995. Holy Cow! Was it that long ago?!!!
I wish I had the deep pockets that the people buying all the Tonner dolls now have! It is crazy the starting price for most of them and the Ellowyne Wilde dolls is out of hand completely.
@Rabbit-moon @Mu Shu Yes, the prices are crazy, and some collectors are dropping a thousand at a time getting multiple dolls. I got my nude American Model Ruby on ebay for $50! That was about maybe 7 years ago (?) I'm pretty sure the seller didn't really know what they had because the listing from what I remember wasn't specific about the doll. Here's the promo shot of Winter Solstice, she's beautiful like the Midst of Winter (Au Milieu de L’Hiver). I can't decide if I like the black or whiter better. It looks like the production doll had a different hair shade??
Wow! What an elegant and beautiful doll! Thanks for the photo! Good eye Stellarphenomena! I didn’t realize it was the same dress on two different dolls. They are both gorgeous! But, I gotta say, the larger presentation on a 22-inch America Model doll is amazingly impressive. Wow! I guess I’m out of the running for buying anymore of Tonner’s past beauties. Prices have just gone nuts! I really need to pour some love on the lovely ladies I was lucky to get in the past. What’s sad is the prices on Evangeline have skyrocketed too. But, it’s kind of depressing; there used to be pages and pages of Evangelines, and now there are only a few. I used to love scrolling through all the Ebay pages drooling over Evangeline.
That's true. I was lucky and found some girls for acceptable prices on lokal ebay last year. My ladys got a new backdrop. It is an image of the restaured ballroom at Ludwigslust Castle. We visited it last spring. I bought this WW-Poster 2 years ago, a few month before we moved. Now it found a place and the DC-case got a spark of color, too.
American Model Ruby (2) par Mu Shu, on ipernity Ruby is one of the most gorgeous AA dolls made! It took me a long time to be able to bring her home and I only got lucky when the original winner of the auction failed to make payment so I had the second chance offer and jumped on it. @BrigitteJ love the background pic with the lovely chandelier. Your WW next to Batgirl has always been one of my favorite versions of her.
Ruby is stunning. The first WW is the reason why i started collecting Tonner Dolls. I love her edgy sculpt. She is such a strong woman.
Prices for Evangeline are definitely out of control as well. Especially for the resin dolls, people are asking close to $1000 for those
Wow! Love the picture. Thanks Stellarphenomena! Brenda was such a lovely doll. Her storyline was so interesting, too. When she was released I had already left my Tonner collecting days behind me, because I was so obsessed with BJDs. Was she a popular sculpt?
Hi @Rabbit-moon! Thanks! I don't know much about Brenda Starr other than she was a reporter comic character from the 40's and Effanbee started making licensed dolls in 1999, with Tonner Doll making them through 2007. She must have been somewhat popular to have a decent run. I only have one, and bought her nude. They have the old body I think (no bendy arms/wrists).
I have an Ellowyne Wilde; I bought her with my collected birthday money with the intention of putting her in some of those lovely outfits, but back then I hadn’t the money to buy them, and then I got another job, discovered BJD and I kind of lost interest in her, I am sorry to say.
I liked Tonner's version of Brenda best. And I have that same outfit but not the doll. It's such a classic Tonner outfit back when the clothes were so well made. I think her popularity was higher later on (but don't quote me on that). I had that same problem and now those same dolls and outfits are costing more than they originally did and I still can't afford them
@stellarphenomena I love that outfit, actually I love most of Tonner's red dresses! Rhapsody in Red Ashleigh (3) par Mu Shu, on ipernity
@Mu Shu: I was happy to find it years ago! I miss the Tonner fashions. I'm in awe of how many beautiful dresses and outfits he created. Here's all the RED! Dreamcastle Dolls
