Do your dolls have theme songs or favorite songs?

While I don't specifically have songs picked out for each of mine, I think Jane's should definitely be that Songify This "Can't Hug Every Cat" song!

 

My doll chateau Andre's (my avatar) theme song is by my favorite band Rancid. "Up to no good"
My doll family ShuShu's theme is the "devil's trill" by composer Giuseppe Tartini.
I haven't really thought much about my other dolls but it might help with character development.

 

Nothing springs to mind for mine. Many of them are Victorian, Edwardian, or 1920s/30s children so I guess they'd have music appropriate to those eras, Nothing modern at any rate. And one girl is a hippy so she'd have somewhat dated music too..

Well, for my archangel-phoenix Raphael at the moment it is George Ezra's "Did you hear the rain?". Tony is more like "Smoke on the water". For our always optimistic (my version) Captain America it can only be Beethovens " Ode to Joy". That's right off my head at the moment.

 

I've always wanted to go through and find songs that suit my doll characters, whether it's a song that suits them or just... what I imagine their singing voice would sound like, kinda?

Mostly the former, since I think most of my dolls would be... awful singers lmao

I feel like a lot of Caravan Palace songs suit my dolls. 12 Juin 3049 in particular suits my character Greeves because the sort of slightly sleazy, mysterious feeling I get from it suits him perfectly Plus, the tempo fits how I imagine his gait. To be honest, I can't even tell what the lyrics are saying (I think that's by design) so they don't matter.

 

Rei has something from Carbon based lifeforms or Juno Reactor.

Roux resonates with The Doors.

And Léon... I don't know. Some french possibly...

Anywho, does anyone else have a certain song that is like your doll's theme song? Currently, I'm still waiting for my baby to get here from DollZone so right now the theme song is "Here Without You" by 3 Doors Down lol-

 

Ohh for sure! Dinah (she's a hybrid but the headsculpt is a Dollzone Demi-2) was my first MSD and she has a very mischievous look on her face--wide eyes and the :3 mouth--so for some reason I've always associated "I Am The Walrus" by the Beatles with her

My doll Remy I really associate with Gregory Alan Isakov's music- the wandering and yearning in his music is so lovely and really suits her traveling spirit not so much any particular song but the artist really resonates with me and the elements of me that I've incorporated into this doll

 

I'm a character artist, character creation is my lifeblood...so no surprise that it now extends to my BJD. (Or it will...when he arrives. ) So, when I create a character I'll almost always stumble upon a song that just seems to fit them perfectly.

Oh yeah most my characters have playlists of their own, and as a lot of my dolls are my O.C.s and P.Cs they have songs or playlists. Heck on the music and dolls topic I even named my Dollfie Dream Dare after the song of the same name by the
Gorillaz.

 

Hm, not specific songs or playlists, but I have a definite idea of what their favourite musicians would be, and what their opinion on certain genres is etc. I'm less of a 'character artist' and more of a musician, so that makes sense :P

 

same! a lot of my dolls all have very specific and different tastes in music because i like a lot of kinds of music and when i write down about my dolls i wonder what their favorite sort of music is or which artists they like thats sometimes my way of deciding their character

 

My friend and I have created a very long Spotify playlist that is a combination of songs for all of our dolls. When one of us gets a new doll or finds a new song that fits one we already have, we add more songs.

 

I have never considered this before, but I definitely want to now. I think my doll leaves teresa (she doesn't have a name yet, I'm waiting until I finish her face-up) would be into showtunes...

 

I'm a dork so I make full playlists for each of my dolls. I will do my best to pick the most 'them' song from their lists.

I have songs that I associate with my characters, but no set theme songs. My characters are constantly developing more, and with that the songs change.

 

My doll is an OC of mine who is sort of an idol/singer, and when I first got my DoC Mir, my OC's current character design came to me over a combination of things, one of which was this song:

"More More More" by East Clubbers

I also closely associate her with Depeche Mode's "Heaven"

 

The doll I have on layaway I think would like Nevve, specifically Catching On, Sway, and Lottery. Nevve is a feature on all those but it should still pop up when you search.

 

I literally have a playlist for each of my dolls. The playlists are sort of arranged like a soundtrack for the story/character I've imagined for that doll, and include both songs that just fit the vibe and personality of the character, and songs that specifically fit particular moments or themes in their story. Working on their character soundtracks is an extremely fun little side-game within the doll hobby for me I try to make each soundtrack have the overall mood of the character it's about, as well as telling their story, and also make it flow from one song to the next well so it sounds good to just listen to all the way through. Kind of like making a mix tape back in the ancient days

Does anyone else have like a “theme song” for their doll?

I recently got a new doll who I named Lolita and every time I see her, I think “hey Lolita hey, hey Lolita hey” from the Lana Del Rey song she shares a name with.

My other doll doesn’t have a theme song and I’ve had her much longer, but this one just stuck.

 

One I am waiting on, Little Snow from DollZone, happens to have the song "Lullaby for a Stormy Night" by Vienna Teng attached to her x3 Just the idea of her mother character soothing the little pixie is too sweet.

 

Yes! Though I think for me, I have more songs for my doll couples than single dolls. Here's a few:

I mean most of my crew is based off of Tolkien characters so I guess the movie soundtracks for Lord of the Rings/the Hobbit movies? And my two Utena dolls have the theme songs from that anime. Oh and I guess the Final Fantasy 9 soundtrack for those dolls hahaha.

My dolls are based on either OC's or ships from books that I like, and I tend to make playlists for them, as opposed to necessarily having just one song. My dnd character that I'm working on shelling has 3 playlists- her main one, a hypothetical villain one, and a hypothetical romance one ;3 There's some overlap with her main one with the other two but it was fun making the extra ones! I wouldn't say it's exactly her theme song, but I really like Orange Trees by Marina for her, and Storm Song by Phildel is one that I added really early because it makes me think of her backstory and motivations a lot. It's also not a theme song but I thought it was funny since she has the fisher background, so she has a dance party remix of Wellerman on her playlist xD

 

My collection has two songs I think fit the vibe. “Afterthoughts” by Sleepthief and “Fairy Forest” by Adrian von Ziegler. I listen to them on repeat when I sew them clothes or work on faceups. My dolls are fairies, elves, or witches. I just love magic in general and those songs feel mysterious and uplifting to me!

 

I have a bunch of songs that remind me of my dolls or that I identify to certain parts of their stories, so I think they qualify as theme songs or at least soundtracks for them.
For example, for my main girl, Lianda, there's a point in the beginning of her story where she sees the Doctor on the TV and she starts humming the song 'Stephen', by Kesha, while laughing to herself for being so silly. And that's the song I usually hear in my head while handling her xD

 

I actually make playlists for my dolls based on their character/"personalities"/themes. Most of my dolls have a playlist. It's actually one of my favorite things to do with them

 

I named my first Dollfie Dream, Dare after the song by the Gorillaz of the same name, so she for sure has a theme song. A lot of my dolls I get to make into my RP characters and other O.C.s and many of my characters have whole playlists as I like mood music. So lots of mine have a song or two that makes me think of them when I hear it, or comes to mind when I'm playing with them.

 

I have playlists for a good portion of my crew (my Jonathan one is especially long lol idk why) but there's some like Giselle and Albrecht that genuinely I have no clue about. My fantasy themed dolls really suffer from a lack of music ig bc I have no idea what to pair with them

 

Pretty much hahaha. Makes it easy for me - I own all of those on CD...except for Final Fantasy 9...I should fix that. Or get the Dissidia soundtracks.

Aiyu also gets a bonus theme! I modeled my FFXIV Warrior of Light after her, so her theme in this alternate universe version is influenced by her character arc in-game.

Even though I don't have him yet, I feel like Force (Force Fox by FallinDoll) would have the song "Fighter" by The Score as his theme song.

 

Ilari's is "Forsaken (vocal ver.)" by VNV Nation and Emie's is definitely "You as You Were" by Shearwater. "Run" by Daughter for Lorina and lil Ari. "Bad Apple" (Christina Vee English cover) for Chara and...the Undertale theme by Toby Fox for Frisk I guess? Lol.

 

The crew has playlists!
They are all OCs that share the same world. Three of them came together to create an enka rock band (a kind of folk-rock based on a type of semi-modern Japanese music that started in the 1940's). There are real life enka rock bands out there, but they usually have a female lead (Wagakki Band or Tsurezure naru ayatsuri mugenan from the game/anime "Show by Rock"). And older visual band Kagrra, is considered an enka rock band with a male lead, but they have long since disbanded since the lead singer had passed away young. I do, however, have all of these band's music on a playlist for inspiration.

The other characters have their own music style. Two are classic visual kei, another two are heavy rock leaning into death metal. And... just to make things fun, I've got a boy who loves jazz and another girl who's more of a lo-fi type. I guess the crew have a wide array of sensitivities...

 

Music actually inspires me to write stories for my dolls! They have their own playlists rather than theme songs!

Jace's playlist is "Just Like You" and "Last To Know" by Three Days Grace, "Numb" by Linkin Park, "Say When" by The Fray

Lucy's playlist is "Listen To Your Heart" by DHT, "Fire and Ice" by Within Temptation, "Driver's Licence" by Olivia Rodrigo

Candy is currently a floating head, but her body is arriving in a few weeks! She already has a playlist, which is "Silent Scream by Anna Blue, "Here's To Never Growing Up" by Avril Lavigne, "Numb" by Linkin Park, "Bird" by Billie Marten

 

I'm actually here to look for other people's cool tunes but I'll drop some doll playlists here as well. Dante is very much inspired by the hipster-fun (like spicy sweet) combo of Tokyo Police Club and Born Ruffians. The Born in Tokyo Ruffians Club? Let's do this!

I have so many dolls I couldn't list them all! And now that I'm in this thread I can't think of a song I've ever liked lol.

Nick and Charlie: Since they're based on the characters from Heartstopper, I'll pick "Colors of You" by Baby Queen for them. I can see them feeling emotional about their on-screen selves listening to it!

Emily: She's 4, so I'm going to say "Let It Go" from Frozen.

Alexandria: I think she's a Swiftie. I'll go with "But Daddy I Love Him" from The Tortured Poets Department.

Chris and Tristan: They're super in love with each other, I'll say "I Belong In Your Arms" by Chairlift.

My Minifees are a coven, so I'll give them "Down the Witch's Road" from Agatha All Along lol.

 

I don't have theme songs for individual doll characters (yet), but I have two songs that I strongly associate with the crew as a whole - "Flight of the Wild Goose" by Iona, and "The OSF -Advancing-" from the soundtrack to the videogame, Scarlet Nexus. Very different tunes... but if my dolls' story is an anime series, these are the theme songs that will play in the intro: one for their proper angel story, the other for their cyberpunk/SF alt-universe story.

 

I have two playlists that I listen to while working on my Free Lands stories.

Most of the songs evoke mood these stand out as character theme songs:

3. Hiro: I’m Shakin’ by The Blasters
4. Lucius: Big Mess by Devo
5. Gaius: Opportunities (Let’s Make Lots of Money) by Pet Shop Boys

 

Major update is that none of this post applies anymore! The last year and a half that I've spent pondering my dolls since I posted this means their characters are far more robust and developed in my head, so their "theme" songs have changed.
