Dante has a job- he's the owner of a modelling agency. He's always scouting for that, really.
Ava... Does building a harem of sexy dolls count as a job? Because in that case, she sure has that down, haha.
Morgan doesn't have a job- he goes through a generall college, not really doing anything else, together with Eve, though Eve is aiming for papers in marketing.
Amane, Rin and Alpha go to school.

Nope. Well Dani's a priestess of Lolth but that's not so much a career as a lifestyle choice lol. The rest of them, just are. OH wait Power Girl is well Power Girl lol. Karen Starr her alter ego is a CEO of a company, at least in the comics. As of right now though she's just the crazy lady who lives under the bed and doesn't realize she's still wearing summer clothes.

Fantasy

Empress: She runs her Empire and works herself hard while looking good. Her job is so important to her she even sacrificed being a mother to rule (only a handful of people know she even has a son as she kept her entire pregnancy a secret). She claims it was also for his safety as she does have many enemies.

Mayzee: She's was once a Madam and now makes potions to take to market. She's also a full-time guardian of the Empress's son Kurai (in transit).

Sanguiene (he's just a head ;_: he is a member of an academic council and as a scholar documents all events he's assigned to which unfortunately involves being the old man on a quest he does not want to be on. He also earns extra money by tutoring Kurai.

Kurai: (waiting for him) Doesn't know he's the son of an empress and gets an education under Sanguiene, He helps Mayzee with potions and collecting ingredients which for a child is his job xD.

Isola: (waiting for her) A young vampiress who lives at Lady Edria's orphanage who earns her stay there by sewing and spinning thread. She also earns an allowance after she's paid her room and board.


Futuristic

Asen: She's a futuristic cyborg sent to protect Haru so she can create another robot to help humanity, she thinks she is going to be sent to an older mature Haru, she was wrong. She gets a 15 year old freshman whose emotional and a bother so her job entails putting up with this girl. Which includes sleepovers, doing girly things, and being annoyed with her.

Haru: She was a highschool student who had no idea what to do with her life (she liked building things) before and after the apocalypse she is protected by Asen who is sent to help nurture her scientific and mathematical knowledge. School is her "job".

 

Skylar didn't get to go to college because his father was never around so he just got a job at Starbucks to help pay for his brother's schooling but later his family, which is an Irish mob, kidnapped him and brought him back to Ireland because his father the journalist was about to spill the family's inner workings and blah blah blah. Eventually he became the head of the family like he would've been if his father never left Ireland, but he's not a very good boss so he let's his cousin make all the decisions and then he just tells people what to do while he enjoy's the spoils. He's a reality tv junkie though so he runs a lot of blogs dealing with his various fandoms~

 

Kaname's a trauma surgeon and Haruka is his assistant (in their RP vers normally their two highschoolers in love.)

Riven and Yuichi are Kekkaishi who are also in love.

Haruhi's a witch.

Yes they do! They're all in this big hired killer group, but they also have "normal" jobs that they do during the day as a disguise. There's a doctor, a teacher, some students, a CEO, a model, a musicien/artist, a sales person...some are undecided since I haven't thought of any that really matches their character.

 

Mackenzie is a violinist and Aislinn runs a boutique but in past lives they were a ship captain and wandering herbalist respectively.

 

My nameless boy is a photographer, and I haven't thought of Layla's job, and then my LTF Gabriella is an angel... which I guess is a job.

 

My Sarah is a wildlife biologist specializing in Elk and Whitetail Deer. I wanted her to have a job in conservation like me. She is also a skilled hunter and volunteers by teaching hunter safety courses in her spare time.

 

Joel works in a bookstore, Bella is a hired gun and Pixie plays bass in a punk band.

 

One of my dolls, Kiki, is a photographer. She has several cameras and computers.

Wiishu has the most important and difficult job of all, maintaining his position as cutestest house elf ever. His job is to be impossibly cute and say and do crazy things to make the household laugh and charm everyone he meets.

Pooki's job is almost as difficult: pestering Wiishu.

Morgaine's job is to close space-time gates before the universe implodes, suck bad guys up into black holes...minor things.

Vanye's is to obey Morgaine's every command.

 

Some of my dolls do have some sort of career (the human ones at least)...but most just have titles (the non-human ones).

Such a fun question! I honestly never thought about careers for my boys. But all of them are artists (musicians), college graduates and trying to find their way. All but one basically come from exorbitant wealth so they have the luxury of figuring out what's next. But here goes...

Theodore: Works/owns cafe where all the guys hang out
Julien: Trust fund, doesn't work, hangs out in Theo's cafe/helps from time to time
Mika: Old money rich, doesn't work, hangs out in Theo's cafe/helps from time to time. Avoiding taking over family business
Timi: Exhiled K-Pop star, starting life over, also helps Theo
Martine: A hustler, done everything from working in fields to short order cook. Now he's a small time local R&B singer/sings in Theo's cafe

 

Tetsuya is a web designer and he owns his own company, which he started from scratch. I had made up the job for him way after I developed his characteristics and background.

 

Jack is a photographer. He's not bad, but most of his notoriety comes from his father who was a famous actor.

Parker works in fashion, and eventually modeling.

Haven't figured out Abani's yet. And of course my future dolls all have set careers, but that can wait til I actually possess them, else this would be a wall of text.

Shin - he was a famous rock idol, then his group was disbanded for few years and he started studying at Yonsei university, music college. Sometimes he did modeling.

My RS Gang (Ryder) is a self employed illustrator/graphic artist who mostly sits around on the couch all day. His girlfriend Vivian supports him mostly. (She's a very pretty OT doll that has a lot of money and clothes)

 

Elda's career is Gypsy. She was actually created as an oc for a video game, so she was created for that world.

 

Charlie is a preteen demon hunter, and he's actually done pretty good up until his collapse on the job...then he had to take a break for a bit.

 

Sonia is Seamstress and Textile Witch to Her Most Serene Highness, Elena Krasavitsa. Gerard, when he gets here, is a composer/violinist and demon hunter, along with his wife, Rowen (who dances, because she can't read music, and sometimes sings to accompany him).

 

My crew has backstories which include jobs. In order of arrival, Katja is a part time fashion model, part time blogger, Konane is a professor of mathematics, raising sisters Kamea and Kai, who are children. Lan is an engineering teacher at the same university where Konane teaches. They were just married. Vaalen is a post doc in biochemistry, raising his daughter, Kari. He is independently wealthy. Karyn, is Konane's sister and has just returned home after a stint with Habitat for Humanity. She starts classes in the fall. Elesar is a free lance investigator and Kiki is a mysterious newcomer who has told no one, least of all me, any of her background.

Avery is a statistician.
Sebastian works at a gas station.
Titiana is a smuggler.
Patrick owns several businesses and is a landlord.
Vivica is a grad student with an assistantship.
Brody has a lawn care business and works part time at a crepe shop.
Fyodor owns the aforementioned new age shop.

 

Aoba is a writer/film maker. She also has a part time job in a music store.

 

Felix works three nights a week in a supermarket, Heydon is unemployed (but he kinda mooches off Felix) and Uzi is a warrior.
Though, Felix is the only one with a proper 'job'. Uzi was born into a clan where she grew up with mandatory training to become a warrior.

 

Well, can 'Prince' be considered as a career ?? XDDD

Yes, some of my dolls have careers. Michael works as a university tutor while completing his graduate degree. He is using this as a front to blend in since he's a vampire and quite wealthy. He's been alive for so long so he's able to easily tutor in many different subjects and enjoys doing it. Cameron is a high school student but works part-time at a Caribou coffee shop. Riley is a high school student, but he makes some money performing in his band and modeling on the side. He will be a professional writer in his adult life. Haru and Aubrey are still characters I'm working on, so I haven't gotten as far as the career phase yet. Amber, Astraeus, Chance and Peter are spirits of the earth/universe, therefore they have no career.

 

My girl is an Illustration major but she currently works as a graphic designer in Tokyo Japan. I created her world before I gave her an occupation but I feel it has really helped develop her, and the other characters she associates with.

 

my only current doll, Nadeko, does not have a job of any kind and probably never will (she does have a uniform so she can be a student though)

however, I do have a job in mind for one of my future boys, he's going to be an artist (specifically an ink painter)

 

My MSD girl is a waitress at a place somewhat like Denny's. My SD boy is a writer and a casual skateboarder. And my future SD boy (currently being created by Leeke) is a bartender at a swanky hotel.

 

Of those who are home:
Clavis works part time at a florist and is studying to be a primary school teacher and is a part time writer
Kakeru runs an online business but he won't tell me what he does... and his brother Ari isn't fond of how much time he spends on the computer :P
Natsu is a model (that still needs his own body)

Of those who aren't yet:
Rei is the main income of the family and works an executive position at a company
Kotoba owns the florist which Clavis helps out in
Shiki earns the second most income and works with Rei
Len writes novels from home

The rest are either students, not old enough to work or just don't work ^^

 

Half of them do, actually... Max is an accountant and civil defense volunteer, Yuri is a cosmonaut who works on the Jupiter frontier, and Rene is just a few years away from national level kart racing with sponsors waiting in the wings. Aeka, Niki and Shadaloo are dirty freeloaders.

 

Do your dolls have jobs?
Yes, they do. Mostly.

Mandie runs a B&B.
Chulyen is a lawyer and Roane's his paralegal.
Hannah's a vet, specializing in large animals.
Kaz is an expert on Asian art and works as an appraiser.
Mattie and Pepper are still children, so their "job" is to go to school.
Leo's the CEO of a corporation & is on the board of many others. His "job" is to make lots of money.
Charlotte. . . I'm still not sure. She seems to be a free spirit that refuses to be pinned down.

As for Qwill . . . well, he's wealthy and prefers to work as little as possible. He's lazy to the bone.

Did you give them a job and then create the world around that or vice-versa?
It started with Mandie and Chulyen. They were the 1st to arrive in my household. The idea that Mandie ran a B&B out of the home she inherited from her grandmother came up early on. We started from there, and expanded into the world they currently reside in.

Is there a common career that BJDs tend to be given?
Hmm. There's a lot of creative job descriptions out there, but there does seem to be a few common themes, usually having to do with the supernatural or mythical. People build some really epic worlds out there, with their own legends, gods, demons, etc. Mine are a bit more modest and on the "average" side, but there seems to be quite a range.

A lot of people put some really impressive amounts of work into creating their worlds. It's a great thing to see, all the creativity flying around this place.

My MSD Audrey is available for anything you could pay her for, except she would never sleep with some one (that's probably the one thing she wouldn't do... At least... Not for money.)
She will do any odd job, just to prove that she can, or for the thrills. My other MSD is tour guide for a museum, but she's also a skilled hacker for Audrey on the side... Just in case.
So far the other ones don't have anything... They're half fish and all fun...

My girl Elsie is a college student training to be a social worker. While she's in school, she works at an organization dedicated to helping homeless LGBTQA youth ^^

 

I only have one doll right now, and he is a student at university preparing to be a businessman ^o^ (as you can also tell from my avatar~)

 

My boy Desmond is employed as a private doctor to a wealthy family, and is entrusted primarily with the care of their youngest daughter. ^^

 

I haven't gotten that far just yet. I think it depends on how it all fits together. I have a storyline, but I haven't decided which character my first boy is.

Annabelle would probably be an aspiring model, but she can't find work, so she started working at a coffee shop, and that's where she met Jordan!

 

Well Erin is a computer programmer and an expert in technology. His "job" has a major influence on his character personality and storyline.

 

Cairo is part of a Theatre troupe; his job was created for his personality- he wasn't created to fit the job. I tend to see a lot of BJDs as part of a band or as models (but not all).

 

Most of my dolls are university students who take on odd jobs as they can get them. One works around the library/school grounds and tutors others, one works as an amateur model, one has been known to deal illegal/controlled substances. -cough-

Uriah's band will probably never go anywhere, but that consumes a large piece of his time. Knowing him, even if they disbanded and he had his 'sensible' business degree to fall back on, he would probably still choose to busk and live off tips even if it meant he had to be destitute.

Lysander thinks he wants to be a psychologist, but I see him as the receptionist at a spa, maybe a massage parlour or waxing salon.

Gailan is studying History and hoping to be an archaeologist, but we all know he'll likely end up in a classroom as the adorable clumsy professor.

Keaden is a high school sophomore working at the gas station and local supermarket. He wants to be a superstar, or maybe just the undisputed leader of a new world order.

Gladys is supported by her manipulative guardian. She has never had to work for anything, and he never misses a chance to warn her of all the terrible things she would have to do to support herself in the 'real world'.

 

I thought I answered this before, but I guess not! Three of my girls have jobs.

Kennedy--college student. She is studying counseling and psychology. She is working on her graduate degree.
Louisa--is a kindergarten teacher!

And it's somewhat complex to answer. The characters in my head are around early-highschool age, as I focus their narratives around when they were in high school. However, the dolls I currently have portray them as young adults, focusing on their lives after university. I do plan on shelling their high school selves, but that will come in time (aka when I get more money. LOL)
So it's interesting how their careers in the future differ from the goals and aspirations that they had in the past.

One of my boys, Frankie, composes music and writes songs. He always wanted to be a famous singer, and as such he performs his own songs, does various gigs, small concerts, and has amassed a small fanbase online. He hasn't been employed by a major record label or anything, but he's happy where he is so far. He's planning on going back to school to get a degree in music education, and a second degree in composition.

My other boy, Gabe, has always wanted to be a writer. He loves writing, and is on the verge of finishing his first book. Meanwhile, he works part-time by writing small articles for the newspaper, and is currently planning to move to New York because he applied for a desk job for a major publisher. Still, he loves creatively writing, and often writes poems. He sends many of these poems to Frankie, and together, they make many songs (or at least concepts for songs). Some of Frankie's most popular works feature Gabe's lyrics, and the two of them work well together.
