Do your BJDs have careers?

Aug 18, 2012

    1. I know a lot of us create elaborate worlds for our dolls but I'm wondering about the 'jobs' we assign to them.

      Do your dolls have jobs?
Did you give them a job and then create the world around that or vice-versa?
Is there a common career that BJDs tend to be given?

For some reason I'm okay with my younger dolls being unemployed but I didn't want my only adult doll to be like that. :sweat She's a programmer and I'm starting to build up a little universe around that.

    2. This is something that I thought about when I began conceptualizing my doll, he's not here yet, but who he is and what he will look like is already solidified. My boy's character and looks are based on real people in my life and I decided to give him the career of the person who he'll share the majority of his looks and personality. So yes my boy will have his own career.

    3. You know, I've never consciously thought about this question. I plan on writing about my dolls, once some of my other projects are done, and I always thought those stories would take place in a fantasy realm. So, yeah, I guess my dolls do have jobs, but those jobs are of a more fantastical nature because of the world in which I picture them.

One of them is a knight of sorts and I imagine she spends her time killing monsters and defending castles. You know, knightly things. My other doll is a chaotic character who uses magic and travels a lot. (She has elf ears and purple-gray skin, so I can't really picture her in a more normal or stable career.)

    4. Careers... Let's see...

Morgana runs her own convent and basically manages the Church on the island of Britain (with interference of some pesky bishops).

Gawain's job is to save damsels in distress and to help his uncle rule the realm as heir to the throne.

While her husband is gallivanting off, Florie rules his lands, manages his household and raises their two sons. (Romance in the middle ages: your knight has crazy adventures, you are at home doing all the work....)

Gwalchmei is too young to have a career. He goes to school in Morgana's convent.

    5. Mine don't... If either of my boys ever got a job, it would probably be Iris because Yukio is far too strange to put into that kind of setting. Unless it was taking care of animals that most people are afraid of, like snakes, bugs, etc.

If Iris ever did get a job, it would have to be incredibly vein, like modeling. Or something that involved him being pampered in every way, like a movie star. Definitely not things I feel like pursuing with him. XD

    6. Some of them, yes. At least all of them have an occupation.
One of my boys studies to become a doctor, another works at a power plant, one is an author, one works as a tech support and performs certain questionable tasks for money, like sabotaging equipment, beat people up and the likes.
My girl doesn't really work but she owns an orphanage and an asylum which earns her money.

Their occupations often play a lot into their personalities, it shows what they are interested in, or are an insight to their conscience and such.

    7. Kinda... my dolls are still in their teens, but they do go to school and I know what they will eventually grow up to be:
Chloe will become an architect and work as an interior designer as well. She will set up her own design firm.
Christian will be a historian and become a famous writer of fantasy and romantic novels.
Andrea is currently going to college with a double major on Business and Political Sciences. Her father is an Austrian Ambassador and she intends to stay in the "Family business". She will eventually become the first female Chancellor of Austria.
Maxim just graduated from college in Moscow and majored in Neuropsychology. He will not continue to study since his band recently landed a recording deal with an indie label. He will be a very succesfull musician and producer and set up his own recording label by the time he's 27.

I like this sort of questions, I hadn't realized I had such a specific character for Andrea since I just got her a few months ago and Maxim is not even home yet... but this sort of made me realize how clear they are already in my head :)

    8. There was a thread about jobs a while back that got me thinking about my dolls' potential jobs.
I often don't really give them jobs, but I think about what they might work as.
And there've been many jobs I've seen owners giving their dolls. So there's definitely no *one job* thing going on. ^^

He's a graphic design student at the Grafisch Lyceum in Rotterdam, and later on in his story he works for a large company that my RP partner's doll owns :3

    10. Almost all of my dolls have careers of some sort (although some are more 'goals they are driven to achieve' than 'jobs they get paid for'). I find that it's often a very important part of defining characters for me - not just because it helps me form clearer ideas of what they value/enjoy/strive for, but also because it defines which of my characters know each other well.

Nouva is a wyrchimiste - she's trained in the art of chemical warfare. Essentially this means that she's a soldier, but instead of wielding weapons, she uses poisons and biological weapons to secure advantages for the other forces. She's currently very low ranking, and thus mostly deals in avantages (things like smoke bombs and crackers, which distract and confuse enemy troops), and aides (medicine, clotting-agents, antiseptics, etc). Higher ranking wyrchimistes are trained in more specialised tools, such as genetically-engineered plagues, organically-derived poisons, and bombs.

Falx is a Walkรผre (more commonly rendered 'Valkyrie'). Genetically engineered for flight, her role has recently shifted from aggressing against foreign enemies to defending the state against new strains of flying monsters. Her relationship with her job is complex - on the one hand, her role gives her the ultimate freedom of flight. On the other, the engineering necessary to attain it has left her with a drastically reduced lifespan - Walkรผre are lucky to see their 30th birthday, even without the natural risks of warfare. She struggles to accept her place, both within the military (where she is respected as a useful weapon, but not respected as an equal to pure-blooded humans), and within society at large.

Pr. ร†lfrรฆd Hylemedler is a professor of philosophy and biology, which might seem like a fairly boring job except for the world he lives in. The powers that be look poorly on unrestrained, unregulated thought, and teaching these is even worse. ร†lfrรฆd walks an incredibly fine line, being well known as a professor who does not follow the rules, but one who must be humoured due to his biological expertise. He constantly runs the risk of being arrested and convicted of agitation or inciting unrest due to his support of underground education and the building of unregulated libraries and schools.

Katarin is a state scientist, working in the field of improved genetic engineering. She specialises in the combination of the 'unnatural' (monster genetics) with the 'divine' (human genetics). This ends up going rather dramatically awry when she successfully creates and raises Alesonder, who has the mesmerising abilities of the native siren species, but without the modulating effect of a natural society.

Velia is a mater - a state-employed adoptive mother. Her role is complex - in part, she acts as a teacher for many children, guiding them through specially-designed classes and helping them be assessed for their future roles. In addition to that, she acts as a parent for small numbers of children. In this world, children are taken from their parents at birth, and adopted immediately by a mater. This mater cares for them for the first 7 years of life as a parent (the children live with her, are personally identified as 'her' children, is responsible for their feeding and socialisation). Once they reach adulthood (7 years), they are no longer her responsibility (though, of course, as legal adults they can choose to visit or write to her whenever they are able to).

Vermeil ("Gules") is an assassin. Specifically, she's an assassin who works exclusively for the impoverished and hard done by. She walks a thin line between acting out of petty vengeance (against the wealthy classes she was not herself born into) and acting out of nobility (punishing those who justly deserve punishment). She rarely gets paid, but works with similarly-minded thieves and cutthroats to sustain herself.

Neiรพ is a wandering monster hunter. She primarily hunts smaller monsters for farmers (who are often reluctant to hunt them themselves, since you never know if a monster is going to be the sort to spit acid in your face or to explode when you look at it). She wanders the countryside, seeking work wherever it might be (and rarely goes without business for long).

[SUB](Sorry for writing so much! I don't get to write as often as I'd like at the moment, so topics like this tend to get me rambling a bit. Hopefully it's at least a bit interesting to someone who isn't me :sweat)[/SUB]

    12. this is actually an inspiring thread for me. since 2005 i've been into dolls, and though i give them distinct personalities and interests, they do not have elaborate back stories. but just this year i've started expanding their worlds.

so far, out of all my dolls, the only one i feel i could give a career to at this point would be Iris, my volks old f-12.

      roshald is too young
      polly is a vampire
adrian used to be in the army, and was studying to be a priest at one point as well, but right now he's a bit conflicted, though i could see him with a job later. he may actually go back to being a priest...
gabriel is a lazy bum who wants to be pampered all the time
iris...we're working on it. it will have something to do with researching artifacts at some sort of museum. she is really into mythology and anthropology, so i think it would make sense.

so to answer your question, no. my dolls do not really have careers at the moment, but i'm liking the idea of getting them jobs to expand their stories. ^^

    13. I don't write elaborate back stories, but I do sometimes invent occupations for them when I make up names and decide on costuming for them. They're mostly things that reflect my own personal interests: one is a historian and archaeologist, one owns a restaurant in Chinatown and his sister is a student and hostess there, another is a celebrity chef, there is an assortment of vampires and other fantasy pastimes. One is a black widow and vodou priestess, one is a punk rocker, a clown or two, and various other occupations. I don't take any of this stuff seriously and change my mind too often to have a cohesive plan.

    14. None of my dolls have jobs or careers.

At some point, I would like to make a doll of my Skyrim character, who I intended to be a mage. She's still kind of a mage, but she uses weapons given to her by the gods of Skyrim. Like probably all player-made characters, she's what they call a sell-sword, which is pretty much a hired hand who you get to go attack people, find things in dangerous places... that kind of thing. First game I've any desire to make a character out of.

Anje: professional singer (soprano), music and kendo instructor.
Hajime: police officer and martial arts instructor.
Cirrus: was chief healer of his Drow clan. After he ran off to the human world, he enrolled into medical school to catch up on human medicin. He works as a midwife.

    17. All of the dolls I am getting are characters from Dungeons and Dragons games that I am playing in, so I suppose one can say that they have professions

Lucy : she is a character that I have played for really long, she is almost top level, so she has an extensive career, if she was just a character in a story, she would have been such a Mary-Sue , her professions are : adventurer, bard, paladin, queen and demigod (she's the goddess of rebellion)

      Zehelico :
He is an NPC and Lucy's husband, he is a fighter and a rebel, his current career is running his wife's country

Dayreth : He is a character from another game that belongs to my boyfriend, he is an adventurer and a cleric of Corellon

    28. Some of my dolls have jobs and some don't. For me, this depends on the age and back story of the character. The twins, Jack and Cleo, are babies, so they don't have jobs. Michael, the twins' father, works in a bookshop and is in university studying to be an archaeologist. Andromeda, Michael's wife and the twins' mother, is a stay-home mum (which is definitely a job!) but is also an aspiring artist and floral arranger. Tyler is a musician and he's also in law school. Sini hasn't got a paying job, but she's a stay-home mum to baby Skyla (who obviously isn't working). Paul Sebastian's job, nominally, is as an accountant in his family's business but he'd rather gamble and chase the ladies than do any real work. Xander is saving for college by working in a photography studio part-time and also doing some modelling; his goal is to become a professional photographer. Dylan is a university student who's studying to be a psychologist. Beau is a cowboy...is that a career? Cassie has a paper route. Radek and Pax don't have jobs yet; they're both just working on improving their English. Hunter is a shape-shifting lioness and she hasn't got any job. Echo is a dog, so she doesn't have a job either. :)

    29. Do your dolls have jobs?
Did you give them a job and then create the world around that or vice-versa?
Is there a common career that BJDs tend to be given?

Kari is 16 so she's a student, she studies music and languages as her second choice. When she grows up she wants to be a violinist in an orchestra, her second choice would be to become a languages translator and travel the world. (She's ever so sensible.)

Kit loves playing drums in her band but she's studying at college to be a chef.

Meredith is an assistant curator for a history museum, she co-runs the Egyptology section.

Griffin is a nightwatchman at the same museum. At weekends he gigs with his band, he's a singer.

Lorrie is a hairdresser by day and at night gigs with her band.

And Pashley works in a gym/leisure centre. Also he is a drummer in a band and also gigs with them.

All of the jobs came while I were creating them, also once I'd picked their job it also help with character development. I don't think any of them have a 'common' job but they are all very normal type jobs which suit them.

Jobs/careers are the very first things I think of when creating a character, actually...their career is chosen even before their name is.

Junko - Fortune teller/potion maker, owns a traveling curiosity shop
      Hecubus - Junko's servant/personal assistant/ward
      Noa - Herbalist/botanist
Rumiko - Space princess (although some would argue that isn't a real job :P)
Marigold - Fairy of the underworld

I would love to have a doll who's a baker/pastry chef, just have tons of little cakes and cookies as props.

    32. - Aeron is probably the only doll I own with a real job He cares for his elderly aunt's ranch next door, as well as a few plants on his own land. Not surprisingly, he's also the most responsible.

      - Zeda (the only other one from Aeron's world), is an android, and too childish to do real work. She likes to garden, though.

      - Pandora is an ageless humanoid with mind-control abilities. She gets other people to work for her.

So I'd classify myself as one of those people who doesn't give their dolls jobs. (Unless you count being my personal model for cuteness as a job.)

Ari is a companion for Lorina.
Emie is on a quest, and also takes care of Ilari.
Ilari isn't able to do much of anything.

My girl Syni doesn't have a job, but she lives in a nice apartment, has a mac, and goes to a fancy school, so me and my friend are starting to say she's an orphaned millionaire or something :) One of my boys is a doctor of xenotransplantation, and the other one is kind of shady, like a hitman or something.

    35. I've been playing too much online games, so i createed the charactrsand jobs first before i selected some of them to be dolls.
there were a couple of exceptions though, when i got the doll first before creating them and the jobs.

Kotoki Reiya- Bard. Devin's partner and lover
      Devin Vierence Krisence- Mercenary.
He held the title of Viscount, and was heir to his father's earldom.
However he was disowned when he joined the Mercenary job class, instead of the Crusader his father wanted.
Vangil Rhystrat Raleigh- Wizard/ High Wizard.
Guilds Master, and the 2nd son of a Marquess.
Lydith Ilsei- Assassin. Vangil's partner and lover.
      Winseris Lerion Raleigh- Gunslinger/ Musketeer.
Guilds Master, Vangil's younger brother. 3rd son of a Marquess.
Audrey Eliza Raleigh- Elementalist. Vangil & Winseris' younger sister.
Only daughter and 4th child of a Marquess.
Kilein Riviera Raleigh- Novice, assassin class. 10 years old.
      Vangil & Lydith's adopted son.
Florinda Cathleyn- Novice, priestess class. 6 years old.

    36. As my dolls characters are created spending time with them, I never know what they will be. But no, my two "adults" do not have a career per se. One is loaded, and doesn't need to work, for anything, and the other.... a mystery where he gets his money from. I don't want to know, he was once a politician, 400 years ago, and has been a pirate,.... and so many thing more. He is a smoothtalker and a ladysmen, even though he is quite hung up with my male diva.

So no careers, educated, yes, inteligend, very, monney, incountable, free time, all you want.

    37. My dolls and their characters are actually all true 'dolls' in their concept too, so it's a bit different. They're set in a story on a haunted/magic island, so dolls and other toys often become enchanted into sapient creatures, though still dolls.

However, for Dalia and her future family, they are rather ambitious and entrepreneurial little dollies and manage to eventually build a doll clothing store (with a Human Commissions Corner) + cafe.

It's a 'family' of five dolls, and they all 'work the register' and customer service. However, Dalia and young Tavil do it more since they're more friendly and outgoing, and they also serve people in the cafe.

Dalia is also a skilled seamstress, knitter, and wig-maker. Byrne can work metal, make shoes and knows some carpentry, so he makes furniture. Tavil can paint faceups and style wigs. Tanzi is a jeweler and can make glass eyes. Little Dallas has no particular skill or role, but is clever and makes random props, accessories, hats, or other unique odds and ends. Altogether, they make the wares they feel like and put them up in their physical or online shops for sale as they please. They don't necessarily -need- money, but dolls in this world like material things, and they like buying things for themselves constantly.

The cafe, by the way, doesn't sell actual food or actual anything! It's just a fun little area for other dolls or similarly-small creatures to sit, relax, and socialize. You can have pretend tea-time and be served fake little foods, though at least (some of) the books can really be read XD . Dolls can't eat or sleep, but they like to play house.

    38. Some of my dolls have careers but for others it's their way of life.

Taurus is a prince from another land but somehow ended up on Earth. Here he has become a paranormal investigator and hunts down demons and the like. His lover Orion is a knight who followed him and continues to protect him.

Rinzer is a different type of demon hunter (from a different story). He goes around and slays them while slowly being possessed by one. Jade (who I am waiting on) is his best friend and she is also a demon hunter but more in the style of a bounty hunter. She only does it for profit.

I have a couple elves who live in their forests. One is a priestess and the other is a hunter.

I have a couple demons who like to cause trouble in different ways.

None of my minis have jobs as they are younger and regular humans who just hang out. They do have their own stories, kinda, but not much else.

    39. Well... a lot of my dolls are in college or some other form of school, but I have two planned who are both models. (I have a floating head for one of them, but she can't be a model without her body!) But I think the dolls who are still in school will end up having jobs that relate to their favorite things, like cosplaying for Max or gaming for Ian.

    40. Given that mine are all elves (and one daemon) connected to nobility, I wouldn't say that they have "careers" per se, but still...

Andruthen is the prince of the forest-elves.
Virana (when I get her) is Andruthen's younger sister, and the Crown Princess of the forest-elves as male offspring can't inherit the throne.
Lorani is the companion (bodyguard/confidant) to the prince of the shapeshifter-elves.
Telior is Andruthen's companion and also serves as his captain in battle.
      Rohala is a priestess-mage.
Gisala is too young to have a job, but will probably grow up to be a courtier and mage like her mother.
      Caladan is a border-scout.

Telior has a "real-world" alter-ego named Rohan, who is an actor... technically all of my dolls will probably end up with actor alter-egos as I am tempted to do an AU photostory where they are all actors portraying... well, themselves. (As though their actual selves were characters in a movie.)

    46. My guild characters sort of flow into different stories but they have classes or jobs from RPG.

Finn is a jack of all trades, he can be a mage to a mercenary. One setting he is a Sith the next he is a Grey Warden.
Erika is mostly a healer or priest who works for the resident church/faith (Chantry, Church of the Holy Light etc) except in the case of Mass Effect setting where she is a medic working for the Alliance.
Deliha is the resident mage who sells her services.
Isaac is a knight/paladin/templar who works closely with the resident church/faith (Templar to the Chantry, Paladin to the Church of Holy Light and etc)
Fox and Treasure are twins who work with a scout and learn forestry, tracking and scouting. They are mostly hunters or rangers in the settings.
Breena and Ulric are both mercenaries and sell their blades, both have different reasons.
Terry is a magic user too but he works with more of the darker magics (Demons, blood magic)
Hunter is a bard who makes money selling songs and music for the people in taverns or even by a fireside.
Odetta is either a mage or summoner who as Deliha sells her talents to others.
      Bartholomew is a foot soldier.
Rue is a thief and Yonas an assassin.
Tawny is an engineer or an inventor.
Winifred doesn't have a job, she is a noble. But she hopes to learn how to run her own buisness.
Oliver is a squire, Rose and Summer are to young.

    47. My dolls have characters and story lines that go with them so generally they all do have jobs. The ones I've listed below are characters who I either currently have dolls for, are on layaway or will be coming home (God willing) sometime between now and 2014.

Ger - He works at a daycare as a teacher 5 days a week, 7-10 hours a day.

      Billy -
He is co-manager at the local grocery store and also plays the electric guitar in a band called Not Utopia.

      Lee -
He is a fraud detection specialist at the bank.

      Alex -
She works at the same daycare as Ger and works generally the same hours. They carpool to work. She plays electric for the band as backup if Billy's ever unavailable to play.

      Titan -
He works pretty random hours at several small, locally owned shops. A clothing shop called Hidden Concord, a coffee shop called Nova Cirque and a bookstore called The Umbrella Corporation.

Wesley - He's in between jobs. The rest of the guys are pretty sure he's just lazy and doesn't want to work or contribute to the bills. He used to work at a convenience store by their apartment til he was fired after being late too many times. He is also the drummer and back up vocals for the band Billy is in.

Arlette is my favorite doll, serene and quiet, she tends to the props of the circus and costume mending.
Eithne is mechanically minded, she works the carousel and makes automail.
Illyana is rebellious and angry, she's the tattooed lady and a snake handler.
Heidi is a zombie, she's in the freak show.

    49. Well since my first two dolls are based off characters that I've made, they kinda do. Guy is a member of a band, usually the guitarist sometimes the singer. Iso is a rogue/adventurer (she was first a D&D char, then turned into stor-ish char) - though lately she's kinda been more freelance in her "job." Now as I get other dolls that I don't already have 'personailites' for, they might not have jobs.

    50. All of dolls had characters written to fit them. They are all part of an ongoing story set in a magical shop that exists outside of space and time. So all five of them work at the Shop.
Fleur and Druella are general workers. Fleur does the customer service side of things as well and Dru does all the heavy lifting. Alwyn keeps the records. The two tinies are too young to work according to Fleur, though the Shop has no child labour laws. So they help out where they can and are the mascots.

    52. Almost of my adult dolls have jobs or careers. Mostly the careers came after the character, with a couple exceptions.

      Patrick - police officer
      Patricia - babysitter, seamstress
Paige - police officer, after being a clerk at the same agency
Asher - clerk at the police records department (same as Paige was before she became a cop)
Will - computer programmer, website designer
      Ron - architect
      Sean - pediatrician
      Marcus - freelance musician
Sami - retail, aspires to be a social worker
      Al - shop/tech teacher
      Janie - fashion designer/owns a boutique

I think Meghan is the only adult doll I have that I'm not quite sure what she does for a living just yet. All my other dolls are children or teenagers. And then there's Abby. I'm not sure a job or career is really terribly relevant to her story, so she will probably never have one.

    54. Not all my characters have jobs, but they do have roles in the worlds they belong to. (Many of my characters are too young to have a proper career. ^^;) A few of my characters belong to more than one world, so I'll break it up for you in that way.

      Cutie Wing
I have a comic in the works called Cutie Wing. It was originally a funny little story to give to my doll Amelie so she didn't feel so lonely not having a backstory, and so I could figure her out a bit more. It blossomed into a full on story, which I've decided to turn into a comic. So far, the dolls that have made appearances in this comic (and belong to me) are:

Amelie October: Daughter of a wealthy tech company founder, Amelie is an aspiring super hero in her city's district.
Rhee Key: Rhee attends Amelie's school. He's the nap-time monitor, but he isn't really good at it, since he falls asleep when he should be monitoring his classmates.
Reiji Haku: Reiji is a student in Amelie's school. He's the 'I Know Everything About Everyone' kid, and the best friend to Amelie's like-like interest.
Nikolai Briar: He attends the middle school portion of Amelie's school. He's the cooking club president, and he works at a cafe after school.

      Better Days
Orian Hotanoshi: Orian is a teenager, and has no job. Too many things interest him at once, and he loses interest in those things rather quickly, so he wouldn't be able to hold one for long, anyway. Sometimes he does odd jobs. (When he grows up, he'll be an odd-job sort of person.)

      Wolf & Crow
This is an urban fantasy world, so jobs are a little strange.
Inu: Inu is an Alkemer, one who practices visual and verbal spells (called teleo) to manipulate energy. He is one of two people who can create new teleo, and he takes this role very seriously. He travels the country, using his gifts for those who need him, and he never stays in one place too long.
Reiji Haku: Born Reiji Nokoren, the youngest of the prestigious Nokoren family, Reiji is currently traveling with Inu across the country. He does this throughout a good chunk of his childhood, working as Inu's assistant and apprentice.
Rhee Key doesn't have a job, but travels with Reiji in the form of dreams sometimes.
Nikolai Briar is a collection of inhuman living energy, sealed away in the body of a twelve year old. He is the servant of Qaida, the other guy who shares Inu's power.

The unfortunate thing about creating these worlds and these roles? You get ideas for other dolls to supplement other roles in that world. T^T I have four SDs planned just from writing these stories alone... not including the ones I already intended to buy. @_@ My collection is growing at an alarming rate... as is my wish list!

    55. My doll's back-story sees him training to be a ballet dancer, and he ends up taking up modelling to see himself through his dance classes. Once his training is over, he only manages bit-parts in stage-productions, so he keeps up the modelling to keep money coming in. All the while, he holds on to his dream of being the star danseur in The Nutcracker!

With Alex being an SD doll, however, the ballet poses will prove difficult to pull off without some sort of aid for him to be able hold them long enough for me to snap the photo! I've had him in two easy poses, but I might have to get creative to get the rest! That's sort of why I supplemented his back-story with the whole modelling-career-on-the-side so that I can easily take plenty of photos of him in [very generic when compared to ballet] poses.

    57. All of my dolls started out as the very obvious fashion models. Being aliens of a sort to Earth, they felt that staying in the limelight rather than avoidiing it was a better way of hiding. No one would question oddities as eccentricity is said to be a characteristic of the rich and famous. So is moving around a lot. As time went on the Shogai family banded together to make Orihs Talent Agency. It started out simply as an agency for strictly models and grew in reputation( my imagination) for having some of the most beautiful and sought after children, men and women in the world. Eventually Deimos started to see the other infinite possibilities and Orihs branched out into other ares of the talent industry. Music, fashion, literature and video. Orihs started slipping straws into every flavor of the talent's world's drinks and adding their own spice. The company began spreading its reach a couple years ago, opening satellite offices in Greece and Japan and is now negotiating for a place in Korea.

Deimos owns the company..his twin Aliere recently took over as the PR representative.
Kaxian/Iram is the CEO. Greta Solomon(not a Shogai but has been with the family for ages), is his Executive secretary.
Kaisen takes care of advertising and is also a model in the elite male model group Black Russian and plays drums in the band Strings Attached.
Taiho, the youngest, occasionally comes in to help handle some of the paperwork or meetings. Taiho is adept at contracts and manipulating people into doing what he wants by making it seem they came up with the idea themselves. He is however, just as ruthless as his older brothers when things come down to the wire. Generally Taiho is only called in when the others suspect a person with extra sensory abilities might be attempting to influence business matters. He is impervious to psychic suggestion, though he will open himself up to see what he is dealing with. He mostly attends Draconem Prep, masquerading as a spoiled, rich boy that ditches class and somehow continues to get good grades. By his side most of the time is his nephew Chesei who does nothing more than be himself.
Chesei's a quiet, soft spoken prince that has very little to say and even less of it good when forced to speak. He works in the security division of Orihs with his twin Darach Deshamadaun( different last names....long complicated story), keeping an eye on Taiho's back. Tai'an, Kaisen's only daughter, also works for Orihs under her stage name, as an actress while attending college majoring in botanical sciences.
The rest of the familes attached to the Shogai, Yueh, Deshamadaun, Shiro also work for Orihs in some capacity but I won't go into it because I have far too many dolls. Needless to say some jobs are what others consider glamorous and others not so much so. Lawyers, security, food, design and then too Orihs has a slightly dark side with the security division being tied to assassins and mercenaries.
Newest on the scene is Oneiro Darkwatch. He's a greek shipping magnate that plays the risk game like it was hopscotch. Like the rest he isn't the average human, in fact not human at all. What he is happens to be a mystery as the handsome brute refuses to elaborate . All he says to me is he lost a soul and what better than building ships and sending them everywhere to help him find it. Other than building ships, his other favorite hobby is to assess businesses for their net worth then he usually absorbs or breaks them. He says it depends on if he can make them grow or not.

    58. This thread has been interesting reading!!

I try to give all of mine occupations, but there are a few who avoid employment.

All of my characters 18 and under are students. I have a security chief who started out as a night watchman, and another guy is a counselor going to school to become a physical therapist. One of my girls is a prosecuting attorney. Another of my guys owns an art gallery and is an artist himself. Two of my characters are therapists (one a hypnotherapist). I have a part time waiter, a part time bartender, and a yoga instructor. I need to find a professional career for another older girl I have, she might be able to pull off being a model or publicist. A few of my characters aren't wealthy, but they have guaranteed incomes so they don't have to work. And at least one is an unsavory type who no doubt stashed away money illegally so he could be independent. There are also a couple of mysterious freeloaders in there, but their housemates like them enough to support them, LOL! Two of my elves have not been introduced as characters yet, but they will probably end up freeloading as well, unless they can procure some means somehow. It's tough to find a job for an elf in a modern world!

I also have some characters in a band, but the band hasn't made it yet, so it's not much of an income! They all have other jobs (some of which still need to be determined).
