I like kdramas. I don't know if I can discuss kdramas on doa on brigadoon. Why is brigadoon called brigadoon? What's your favorite kdramas, movies, or shows. It doesn't have to be relating to kdramas or have to be a favorite, but something you enjoy watching like I don't know a youtuber. My favorite kdramas or ones I enjoyed are: Son the guest, it is horror and very scary. There is no romance from what I can recall. I had a hard time watching, but watched because I enjoyed the story, acting, ost, and cinematography. Mr.Sunshine, it is a period drama and has romance. It isn't completely accurate. Kill Me, Heal Me, it's cheesy and a little over the top at times, but still fun. My Name, it's violent, but an entertaining revenge drama with lots of amazing action scenes. Squid Game, way too violent very different from the kdramas I've seen most of my life, but makes you think about things. It is worth a watch. I was shocked by a scene where two individuals were inappropriate because I thought it was a family show before I watched it. I never seen a kdrama with a scene like that. It was shocking, but this whole show is shocking. Anyway it is a good drama, but very hard to watch because it is so violent and gory. All Of Us Are Dead, reference Sewol Ferry accident. It is another thought provoking show, but too gory and scary. Vincenzo, very funny and entertaining. It isn't too violent or gory for being about a Korean-Italian mafia. It's okay to not be okay, I enjoyed the animation and the acting. The stories are relatable. It's about mental health. A White Christmas, I haven't watched this in years, but I recall I enjoyed this mini series. It's about serial killers and nature vs nurture. I think I can't exactly remember. Black, about Grim reapers and a big mystery that the main character js trying to uncover from what I can recall. Mouse, about serial killers. The sound of your heart, based on a webtoon. It's entertaining and goofy. Hi Bye Mama, heartwarming Hotel Del Luna, very fun that's all I recall I binged watched it. Flower of Evil, about serial killers and a cat and mouse sort of chase. My love from the star, very funny Reply series, about an interesting time period I didn't know about and find different. Haven't finished yet. Goblin, I enjoyed this, but still haven't finished the last 2 episodes because I am scared the ending will be disappointing. Strangers From Hell, it psychological horror. It was too scary, so I stopped watching. However, it is well-made. Bulgasal Immortal Souls, it is entertaining. I enjoyed it, but along the way it felt a bit messy the storytelling. It's about the bulgasal, love, and revenge. The school nurse files, very quirky and entertaining. D.P, it's about Korean mandatory military Prison Playbook, I binge watched this, so dont recall it well. It's a about a baseball player who is sent to jail, but he is a good person. Kingdom, about zombies and a period drama. Very well made. Sweet home, I was scared, but found it entertaining. It's a bit choppy the way it is made. Hellbound, interesting and a little depressing. Vagabond While you were sleeping, fantasty Scholar who walks the night, vampires Strong woman do bong soon Happiness Master's Sun, I recall one episode had bjds in it. Secret Garden, fantasty The moon embracing the sun, period drama. Taxi driver Signal Misaeng Missing:the other side Bridal mask, I enjoyed it, but I think it was cheesy at times? I can't remember. Etc
"Definition of BRIGADOON from Websters. :a place that is idyllic, unaffected by time, or remote from reality" I guess that explains a forum area that only pops up once in a while, and is otherwise completely unrelated to the rest of the place, well enough And yes, you can talk about Kdramas as well, but it might be better to open a proper thread about this within the Brigadoon (look at how other threads are labeled and started for comparison). That means, renaming this thread title to "Do you watch Kdramas?" would be better than your current title.
Thanks for the advice. How do I open a proper thread? I will go do that. @Ara Thanks for l the advice. It's been really helping me.
Since you renamed the title already, it's fine But usually when opening a thread you should try to do the following: - concise, short and self-explanatory title (so no "Help!" or "I've been looking around for X and bla bla bla" but instead "Iplehouse/Granado hybriding question" or "Searching comparison pictures of Volks NS and Fairyland NS" - direct, organized opening post (no unrelated rambling, no huge wall of text/run on sentences) The title should tell people immediately what to expect from the thread , and the opening post should give them an easy way to understand what you want from them.
I enjoy Kdramas! Been watching since 2019, and I tend to keep to the more 'current' ones. I don't really watch anything older than from 2017 due to my own tastes. I enjoy romance, and also legal and police procedurals. It's too hard to list/quantify my favorites so here's what I'm currently watching: Crazy Love, Tomorrow, Military Doberman Prosecutor, Our Blues and Grid. My favorite Kdrama from this year so far is Twenty Five Twenty One. I actually have named a few of my newer dolls after characters in Kdramas. ^_^'
I tend to watch the current ones too, but sometimes I end up watching an old drama because there isn't anything I want to watch right now or I don't want to get too invested in the drama, but I end up liking the old drama. I tend to stay away from the scary, violent, and gory shows, but somehow this year I watched a lot of these types of shows. I didn't think I would like the shows, but once I got pass my discomfort I enjoyed that it was thought provoking like Squid Game. I'm watching Tomorrow, Our Blues, and a few others right now. Have you watched Signal, Black, Beyond Evil, Flower of Evil, Vagabond, Vincenzo, Mouse, He is Psychometric, Hello Monster, and Taxi driver. These deals with crimes or are police procedurals. I haven't gotten around to watching all of these dramas, but it's on my to watch list. You might enjoy Through the darkness. I haven't watched it, but it's about criminal profiling.
I’ve been watching kdramas since…maybe 2011? It’s the anime to drama pipeline (shout out specifically to boys over flowers) two of my favorites are rooftop prince and that one that…once again I can’t recall the name of…it’s black something I think? The mc can see when people are going to die, and then she befriends some reaper? It reminds me a lot of the shinigami from kiroshitsuji so it instantly scratches my brain in just the right way lmao
I think you are referring to Black. The mc can see reapers because she is half. Is it that one? The male lead is a Grim reaper and there is a mystery he has to solve. The main female is Go Ara. If you like Grim Reapers you probably will like Tomorrow. You might enjoy Hotel Del Luna with IU and Jingoo. It's about death and other things. You might enjoy missing: the other side. It deals with the afterlife as well. @Eggenthusiast Both are great dramas. You might enjoy Son the guest it is dark and a great story like black and Hotel Del luna. All three of these dramas are supernatural if you are into supernatural. I guess Son the guest is somewhat like supernatural that American show, but I consider son the guest far better (my personal opinion). There are some things I really dislike about that supernatural American show. I feel like the show is disrespectful to females and there are other things that bother me about it, but overall that American show supernatural is okay. I watched it to pass the time, but there were way too many things that bothered me about that show. I didn't watch all of supernatural I couldn't get pass the stuff that bothered me. One thing I like about that show is how Sam and Dean would do anything for each other because not all families are like that. Besides that I have a lot of complaints about that show, but I won't go into it because I don't want to be negative. I know there are a lot of people who love that show and I don't want to hurt people's feelings because some stuff bothered me. It's probably popular for a reason. I'm not really sure what tat reason is, but it seems like a show that is well loved. For me though there were too many flaws for me to really feel comfortable in watching the whole series. I think that supernatural American show has like 13 seasons? I watched enough to think son the guest is kind of like that show, but not enough to know if it is really similar. I forgot why I mentioned supernatural. Oh right because I thought it was kind of similar to son the guest. Anyway I would recommend son the guest, but not supernatural even though both are somewhat similar. @Amet Thanks, do you have any recommendations for Chinese dramas? I used to watch, but I haven't watched in several years. I lost interest in Chinese and Japanese dramas a long time ago, so I don't know where to begin. I probably won't go back to watching Japanese though. It just isn't for me. I forgot to mention I don't watch BL.
Yup! I never finished it-- I plan to one day though when I have time. I think I've seen some clips of Hotel Del Luna! It looks really cool and its definitely at the top of my summer watch list :]
Brigadoon is a movie reference. The film is about a mythical town that only appears out of the mists for a day every hundred years, if I’m remembering correctly. The off-topic forum used to only appear on the site during anniversary celebrations for a set period before it disappeared, hence the name. The mods decided to make it permanent a while back since people were enjoying it. Otherwise on topic, I’m more into C-dramas these days, but I did binge most of Hotel del Luna recently and it was SO CUTE. I started watching Semantic Error recently too (BL silly romcom where the sunshine one and the cranky one get together), but I’m only an episode in so I don’t have many thoughts beyond general amusement at the first round of shenanigans.
I was totally obsessed with K dramas for about 3 years. Mostly the lighthearted romance types, Boys Over Flowers etc., but also a couple of heavy drama series. No horror! I did start to watch Vincenzo, but got side tracked when FFvii Remake came out. Song Joon-ki is my favorite actor. My fave series is Descendant of the Sun.
I watch both C and K dramas, but I am *very* slow at watching most shows, and especially so with ones where I need to pay close attention to the subtitles like C or K dramas. I like the more historical ones and some of the modern ones with a fantasy aspect like Bride of Habaek or Mystic Pop-Up Bar. Rookie Historian is probably my favorite of the ones I've watched so far.
I watched Mystic Pop up Bar too. I think one of the actor is from Goblin. I liked Mystic Pop Up Bar, but I think I liked Bulgasal a little more.
The First KDrama I ever watched was Hello My Twenties and The Time That I Loved You: 7000 Days (it's kinda long), Then I found True Beauty which is my absolute favorite. Hometown Rookie is fun, Her Private Life is good (it's about a professional woman trying to hide her obsession/fandom) and I am trying to finish Hometown Cha-cha-cha.
Hello My Twenties was the show that got me into K-Dramas. Also really loved Her Private Live, Because This is My First Life, Business Proposal, Squid Game, Itaewon Class, and Mine. Next on my list are The Fabulous and The Uncanny Encounter.
I watch both K and J-dramas, most recently I finished watching Revenge of Others and I really enjoyed it!
