Do you put underwear before clothes on your doll?

yes! the first thing i bought for my boy was undies x3
the second one had to wait a few months. it really annoyed me. i was like starring at him and kinda twitching thinking about it XD
since those dolls are anatomicaly correct i think it is important to put underwear. especially if they wear skirt XDDD

 

I never actually thought about it until I came across a listing for bjd bloomers.

I've since put in an order for a set of bra + panties and I might get some bloomers for her when I expand my girl's bjd lolita wardrobe.

 

My partner requested that I make some underwear for Ginger. She's currently wearing a silk dress that likes to ride up. He said it was distracting ;-D

 

My boy hasn't even arrived yet, and he already owns two pair of undies.

...Whether or not he will wear them remains to be seen. ^^

 

My dolls both have bodysuits by BeachGirlNikita they wear under their clothes most of the time. Yumiko's is beige and lacy and very pretty. Zetto's is made of white stretch cotton/lycra with a matte finish and looks like a T-shirt and socks under clothes. In fact, right now the top part of the bodysuit is exposed and looking like a V-neck long sleeved shirt on him. When I pick up Namiko I'll probably spring for a Volks body stocking for her. Yumiko also has one, and it's nice to wear under dressy stuff because it looks totally like hosiery. Namiko will probably not wear hers much but I wanted to make sure she had some staining protection. With vinyl, a stain is forever.

Namiko-tan is here and the thing about the MDD body stocking is that it's constantly riding DOWN on her. Why? She's got no boobies to keep it up...as well she shouldn't because her back-story age is 12. The Volks body stockings are strapless. Yumiko has no problems wearing hers because, well, M-bust is substantial enough to provide something for the stocking to hang onto.

There is a very cute camisole and panties set made for MSD up on Volks USA but it's perennially out of stock. I'm waiting on BeachGirlNikita to get more of the matte white stretch fabric so that she could make Namiko a bodysuit like Zetto's, but so far no joy. I've just been keeping Namiko in light clothes and hoping nothing she wears up top will stain her.

 

To be honest my boy doesn't have undies but his pants are white so I'm not too worried about staining. I've got some clothes on order for the two boys that are on the way but underwear was not part of the order. It just seems too bulky under the pants especially if they're tight fitting. I'm still tossing the idea around - maybe I'll craft something thin together like a reverse thong. I do appreciate the comment about washing new clothes. That's something I hadn't thought of but it makes perfect sense.

 

My boys don't wear underwear because most of their pants are too tight and underwear makes putting them on difficult. XD However, my girl does have panties because I don't want her to wear skirts or dresses without anything under. XD

 

My boys don't need underwear because they're usually wearing tight pants. It's probably not necessary, and just gets in the way and makes pants bulky.

 

I put underwear on my doll if his trousers are loose enough that there is room. He always wears socks under shoes though.

 

My boy's currently commando, but I'm thinking about making him body fitting tights so that his pants stop staining him. I've washed the pants more than once, so it's underwear or resign myself to cleaning him often.

@tonboko: what ratio of water to vinegar do you use and have you ever found any colors/materials that are harmed by it?

 

Simply it depends on the outfit. She hardly ever wears a bra because you would see it with her tops and if she wears tights or leggings she doesnt even wear panties. Oh well, she is a "free" girl.

 

Yes, unless the underwear makes it so the pants don't fit right or something of the sort. For my MnF girl I'm not concerned about a bra (her boobs won't sag after all lol!) but undies are a must... I remember my SD girl not having any and wearing skirts... so embarassing when she flashed her privates >////<
My boy it's more optional but if I want to change him then it's less awkward to do it around non-dolly people if he already has undies to cover his bits. ;

 

it depends on what my girl is wearing...usually she's in dresses and skirts so i made her a few simple pairs of undies because my boyfriend always likes to lift up her skirts since he knows it annoys me XD if i put her in trousers or something like that though, i don't bother. at that point they mostly get in the way. lol

My new girl came with underwear and a bra, which was nice - it's a very good thing, since she's wearing a strapless dress and it slips sometimes xD I would hate for her to have to wear a dress or skirt without underwear underneath.

I put on underwear to the doll.When there is not it with the tight clothes, I do not feel the need of the wearing.
However, it seems to be very cold not to put on underwear.

I didn't use to make my dolls wear any underwear, but after one 'accident' I ordered some and started putting them on, unless e.g the pants are so thight that it's hard to have them fit with underwear. The accident happened when my friend came over and I showed her my dolls for the first time. Well, one of my dolls had kinda loose jeans on, I was used to handle them with care and had no problem with them being like they were, but you can imagine what happened when my friend wasn't and she pulled them a little. I'm still embarassed about the fact that one of the first things she saw in the 'doll world' were my boy's balls... I hope she has forgotten about this

 

I have underwear for my doll-- it was the first thing I got-- but her undies really don't fit under her pants, so no, now she wears them as PJs only. O.o;

 

Two of my (SD) dolls wear underwear. They both wear dresses and skirts. ^^ If they are wearing tight pants they do go without.
Both of my Tinies wear panties while wearing skirts/dresses.

I do plan on getting my girl a bra, some of the shirts she has accentuate that she has "high beams" and it can make for some uh... interesting photoshoots.

My boy wears crazy tight pants and i will work getting them on for hours just to make sure he's got undies under them! lol! It's just weird to me for him not to have undies...mostly when changing! I change him in front of non-dolly people all the time and I don't think they wanna be expose to his goodies! and if anyone ever manages to pull down his pants..well they won't get much outta it! XP I'm pretty sure underwear was the abbsolute first thing i bought XD

My boy always wears pants, I think he&#8217;d feel embarrassed if he didn&#8217;t plus it&#8217;s better for if I decide to change his trousers when other people are around ^^ I recently bought a dollfie dream and the first thing I bought for her was a pair of stripy pantsu as she will be wearing dresses/skirts most of the time so in the long run it will spare both of our blushes!

 

Over here, it really depends on the outfit.

If there's a skirt involved, or a stain-prone pair of pants with a relatively loose fit, then yeah... To prevent "malfunctions" and the later scrubbing of awkward bits with a Magic Eraser, I always put undies on them. If the pants are tight-fitting or light-colored, or if there's no real possibility of people accidentally being flashed, then I may not bother. As someone else mentioned up-thread, sometimes underwear just looks odd under a doll's clothes.

 

Not usually. Mostly because I haven't gotten around to purchasing them. In the future I would like to though!

 

Mine do wear underwear; my SD-sized boy wears boxers and my little Yo-SD-sized girl wears old-fashioned stockings and pantaloons under her dress. I like having underwear for them because it prevents staining and I feel like it makes their outfits more realistic in a way.

 

I do! Cause I feel weird if they dont wear it and one of my boys constantly wear skirts, so to prevent exposing his bits, underwears are vital! XD If they're wearing tight pants/shorts, then it's unnecessary.

Only my girl wears panties - and that's only when she's in a skirt~ Otherwise, I don't see the point, and I find some clothing doesn't fit as well with the extra layer underneath. ^^;

cause my dolls are dressed up in ancient Chinese style. they always have ZhongYi inside in stead of underwear..

since they r always white, i'm not afraid that they will stain my dolls~

 

Both of mine wear underwear. My girl mostly only needs it in dresses, and the skirts I've made I started making built-in underwear (to keep it from sliding up and around her waist, as they tend to be prone to do). My boy has some thicker briefs because his stringing is a bit odd and he has tried on several occasions to use his leg to sand or snap his bits off. The reason for them both having underwear (and also how I first noticed his trying to take his bits off) is to protect the painting I've done in the area...... and also to hopefully not surprise anyone if their pants come off. I've already accidentally surprised a friend when she wanted to take a good look at my girl's jointing and I forgot to warn her of my detailing. XD

 

yes i put on underwears for them for fun. but the red color or dark blue color's can really stain the body , so i will only go for light color now

 

Since the beginning and always. All my BJD use underwear. That is what all they my characters do. Besides, that is the way I like it, just like I put my clothes on, and farther more it is very helpful for maintenance.

 

Yeah, I put underwear on my doll. It's not a personal thing, I just think they make an outfit look more natural.

 

My dolls wear underpants if they are wearing a dress or skirt....as many of you have said...seems most pf the jeans and slacks do not fit with "unders" on.....some of my boys wear unders if it fits also....for some reason, their outer attire seems to accommodate underwear easier than the girls....
I am usually surprised that most "FULL set" BJDs come with no underpants even though they may have socks and shoes...hair adornments and necklaces....I have come to believe that Koreans do not place a high value on the wearing of underwear unless it is all you are wearing....and than it is quite lacey and seductive.....
Alas, for some reason I do not like the girls underwearless with dresses and skirts...especially short ones...even if Barbi has spent her life like that....

well I learn from a friend I got to leave undies on my dolls. I had a straight guy friend over and wanted to show him the new doll and poped him out of the box and he wasnt impressed! I found it funny but I think sort of scared him a bit. Guess I should warn people.

I just got used to it so Toki always have undies on =P unless he's pants won't fit on or something and i only put undies on for my little girl if she's wearing skirts or dresses, but i won't for pants coz i looks sort of bulgy ;P

Most of my dolls don't have underwear.

Nym came with boxers, which he wore until I made him proper clothing. But he doesn't wear them now due to the fact that his leather pants ride a little low on the hips.

WHen I got my girl, the first thing I bought for her were panties because it didn't seem right that she be naked under her dresses.

The only other doll that has underwear is Celyn.
And I bought him underwear for two reasons:
His outfit was going to take months to come in due to production time.
The underwear in question came with a free sheet of celtic tattoos which I needed for his mod work.

Total win-win there!

 

I often put undies on my Pukipuki before her clothes. They won't fit under some of her things though so she doesn't always wear them. I also only have one pair and i'm hopefully getting another Puki soon so they will have to share, hehe =)

 

I made some boxers for Kai because I heard about dreadful stains that people get from jeans and such..but when I put them on him his pants didn't fit lol. So he goes commando for now. When I get my girl in I would imagine she would need underwear since her outfits will consist of skirts butttt I need to see which ones I like first. There are some major advantages to having them though.

 

Nope! They all go with-out, unless I'm doing a historical outfit and the bloomers/panties are a part of the costume.

 

under skirts, yes, I prefer it. Under pants, eh, not so dire. I find sock and stockings to be more important, if only to get shoes on and off more easily. I'm investing in cheap suit sock or tights for making my own. Dollar stores are my best source. The same fabric might be good for underwear. Hmmmm.

 

I think it's more necessary for girls than boys, modesty wise. Unless you make your boy cross-dress, then it's not a huge modesty issue. But I definitely think that girls need underwear (panties at least). It's embarrassing enough that my Jun's skirt reveals her undies. I don't want the skirt showing anything else. She does really have that problem now, since she's borrowing a pair of khakis from my Tsukasa.

But for keeping your dolls clean, underwear is pretty useful. Although a little water and vinegar helps get rid of the nastier stains.

 

If the underwear may be visible I put it on to conserve my girls modesty.

 

I've only went out of the way to buy underwear once, and haven't bought any since then. Unless it comes with a clothing set I buy, I don't make a point of getting it. I will put it on a doll, but only when I actually think about it in the first place.

 

All of my dolls have underwears on, I don't know, it just doesn't feel right for them not to wear any.
Especially for my Esther, who usually wear skirts most of the time, a girl has to protect her modesty you know, even if she's a doll in my opinion anyway.
