Do you put underwear before clothes on your doll?

Underwear can help prevent stains from doll clothing, but the best way to avoide them is to wash all the clothes you buy for your doll before putting them on it. Washing removed the excess dye from the fabric, which stops it leeching out and staining the resin.

Personally, only about half my dolls wear underwear. No real reason, I just haven't yet bought undies for the whole gang yet.

The only one of mine who wears underwear is the one with the short skirts who likes to flash people. I may make some undies for the other girl when she's wearing skirts as well. All my boys are commando, though. I really don't like the lumpy lines you can get, and many of their pants are too tight to fit underwear under anyway.

If I wanted to prevent staining I'd use a bodysuit or something, underwear doesn't cover enough to be that useful to me.

 

Many companies sell a "body stocking" that covers the main parts of the doll to prevent staining. Volks has one for the DD since they stain so easily. Avesha always wears panties under skirts, almost always has socks and sometimes a bra.

 

hehe my guys ware underware, because their leatherpants don't have zippers..
And my girl doesn't bacause it doesn't fit under her tight dress, so it depends..
but it's not to prevent staining because just as AmyAngel says, it doesn't cover enough.

 

The only underwear any of mine wears is the frilly knickers with ducks on that my Tan Shiwoo likes to wear as outerwear! LOL

 

Clarice currently has bloomers on, does that count?! I think they are needed under a puffy style dress/skirt, but if I was going to put her in trousers or tights I probably wouldn't worry too much about it...

 

The only time I worry about undies is if one of my girls is wearing a skirt. It's funny now that I think about it because they are full length skirts and there is no danger of a "wardrobe malfunction", but I feel better knowing her resin groove is covered.

For the record, my girls always wear underwear. (That's what actual outfits are like, no?) Bras, on the other hand, are optional. The extra fabric gets in the way of tighter tops.

I like to have my doll wear underwear, because I don't like thinking she isn't wearing any, but I don't like that it gets caught in her hips all the time. @_@ I whenever I move her legs the panties are stuck in the sockets. I feel even stranger adjusting her underwear all the time. e_e It's a lose-lose situation for me.

 

I really only put underwear or bloomers on my dolls if they're wearing skirts..... my mom made me put an undershirt on Harper because she didn't want her boobs to be out in the open.... or be flashed by a doll

 

I bought underwear for both of my boys but Matt's is sort of too small o_o and Adeon is just .. not the type to really wear anything under his pants û_u' so in the end - useless purchase. I didn't have any problems with staining anyways so far.

 

Only my dolls with short skirts wear underwear, and they are my dolls that are meant to be little children. I think it looks too bulky under long dresses and pants.

 

uhm... my boys didn't wear boxershorts XD no one.
my girl nerili likes without a slip but my girl esra wear short skirts so she HAVE to wear underwear XD
but I don't like underwear so much...because it jammed in the joints or the clothes fits not so good.
but when my girls wear a skirt or a dress and we are outside they have slips on ;D

 

While this is ultimately up to the owner, I strongly recommend putting underwear on your dolls for the exact reason you mentioned. Dolls obviously don't need underwear for the same reason people do, but it does protect their resin! I make sure my dolls all have socks and underwear on before clothing them, especially with dark was jeans and black clothing. I put thigh high socks on all my dolls (even the boys) because it protects their legs!

Also if you have already experienced staining problems, just in case you dont know this , try using Mr. clean magic eraser on the stained parts, it works like a charm (I've need it before) and it doesn't harm your doll! Just don't use it on the face of your doll, because it is string enough to remove the faceup!

Dark jeans are notorious for staining, if you get it off fast you can get the rubs off with a magic eraser. Washing the jeans helps but it still can rub and stain (heck my car's seats have some rubs from my jeans) stockings can help but I'm still not trusting dark jeans on abjd.

For my dolls its optional, but the kids usually wear them, its a good idea with dolls in short clothes. But a for protecting against stains, yeah a lot of dolls get stains on the rear but thats as far as it protects, I tried dark blue jeans on a doll before and it rubbed everywhere, it was fortunate I had a magic eraser on hand.

I've had trouble getting underwear to fit under a lot of the ABJD clothes except dresses and baggy pants. Dollheart makes some great boys underwear sets though, my MSD ken has some (which he wears under his baggy pants)

Undies are a great idea, but I find there is not much room under most clothing for it to fit (hence most of my dolls going commando most of the time).

As for fear of staining.. I just do a good vinegar/water soak for anything dark and check for smudges every once in a while. Vinegar is your friend.

 

For the 'OMG it might stain' clothing, I make body stockings to put under their clothing. Very easy to make out of a cheap pair of tights. As far as 'underwear', only for my doll that wears skirts, because I really don't want him flashing everyone.

 

Nah, mine go commando. I make sure their clothes are un-dyed cotton and silk.

 

My girls always always wear underwear. It just feels weird and a little perverted to me when they don't have any on. Bras on the other hand tend to be optional. I thought when I was first getting into dolls that they would always wear a full set of underwear but bras tended not to work with the outifts I like.

 

I only have one pair of girls' underwear. The girl who's wearing a skirt at the time gets the underwear ;D Otherwise, I see no point in it.

 

My girls wear panties/bloomers/shorts under their skirts and dresses to make sure things are covered, but they just get in the way when they're wearing pants.

I would put the underwear on all the time simply for the times when the doll would wear a skirt, plus it seems to complete the outfit.

My girl arrived with a pair of nice cotton undies and a boob tube style bra and they fit nicely under her clothes, so I have no problem with her wearing them. If they were bulky then I wouldn't bother.

 

Hrrm, that's a really good idea you know. My boys are currently going commando, but I do have issues with high top boots rubbing on the back of legs and leaving black marks. Who'da thought socks! (Talk about a durr moment) I do have one girl who's currently as nakid as the day she were born, though at the moment I'm simply concentrating on getting her fully clothed, the undies can come later.

 

Yes, I put boxers on my boy before putting his pants on. xD He even wears them to sleep in his box. When he's not fully dressed, he's usually in his boxers and white tee. Heh.

And yeah, I guess I'm really afraid of staining him so I take the extra precautions including never leaving him in his clothes for more than a few hours at most. And I make sure that he wears socks before putting his shoes on. His sneakers stink of rubber. >>

 

Some of my dolls have underwear and some don't- if I have underwear for them I'll put it on, because I like that it makes the outfit more "complete" and lifelike, even if it's not in a visible way. But I'm probably not so concerned that I'd go and buy doll undies unless I'm already buying stuff from a shop and they're cheap, or they come with an outfit.

I've seen some really beautiful lingerie sets for sale and auction, though those are sort of a different matter and many of them would be a shame to cover up with clothing. Maybe if I get an EID girl one of these days I can have a resin lingerie model...

 

My elves tend to wear historical clothing that predates underwear as we think of it, but my wee girls with short skirts find panties a necessity, and why not? What cuter piece of clothing could there be than ruffly bloomers or lace trimmed skivvies?

My MSD girl I feel slightly guilty about... her outfit is pants and a long tunic, so she really doesn't need undies, but I wonder if she's comfortable, haha!

I only put underwear on if it doesn't interfere with the joints. I know that my sister's girl has a pair of undies on and sometimes the lace gets caught in the joints! D:

 

Well, I put this kinda 'underdress' for her when she wears a dark clothes, cause it's supposed to kinda 'block' the staining, but she still gets slight stains anyways. Other than that, I want her to wear undies cause it's really awkward for people to see her girl's parts even though it's no big deal. heheh.

 

Underwear is needed! I think thats make them more human when I put them some panties, even my boy have some boxers for him, and of course they need to change underwear sometime dah! =P

I love my doll so much they need to have everything I can give to them, socks, panties, boxers, even a bra(Bu she fit weird so I take her out for esthetic)

And to stay in subject, as you realise yourself, it help about stain and everything, but take care because your underwear can also stain. A thing I learned about BJD clothing is to always wash if there is no mark of 'Already washed' or 'No stain' on the page, when you bought it.

And if your girl is wearing a short dress, short skirt, YA! put her some panties please. She will get a cold :P Seriously this is not a barbie, she have genital and it can be kind of weird for people how don't know anything about BJD^^

 

I always put pants on the dolls. And almost always - socks. Therefore I can try on them new things even in the underground. And not to be ashamed.) after all the important places at them are covered.

 

My boys never wore underwear but my girls used to. I got tired of it sliding down though so now they've stopped. (Unless it's a very short skirt.) I mean, come on, they're dolls, do they really need undies?

Most of my girls I put on panties or bloomers of some kind. But most of the outfits and dresses are either period or lolita and require something beneath in order to make things lay right or to "be proper". Staining is only part of the factor as I typically don't leave any doll in an outfit long enough for staining to set in.

Only exceptions I have are the tiny girls (it's too darn hard to find something that small!) and my one boy (he doesn't need them cause he always has pants on and many of the pants are too tight for any former of underwear not to show funny underneath).

 

The only time my dolls wear underwear is when they are wearing it as outerwear, or if someone is wearing a short skirt. You can't have cute panty flashes without panties.

I store all of my dolls naked and wigless in their boxes when they are not being used. It definitely helps prevent staining.

 

I always have my doll wear underwear, but so far she only wears panties, finding a bra that will fit a dollfie dream dynamite bust is beyond me currently. It does annoy me a little though, cos you can quite clearly tell through the clothes most of the time, just by the extra bulk the undies add.

My doll hasn't been in storage yet, but I think I would probably through caution to the wind and store her with her undies on. It feels like it would totally destroy their personality if they were stored completely stripped down.

 

I would only bother if they were wearing short skirts and I wanted to photograph them without the fear of bits being shown and turning an innocent picture into upskirt dolly porn.

Otherwise it just makes pants difficult to close. And underwear is probably just as likely to stain the doll as the pants are.

 

I have a few dolls who wear underwear, but it was always purchased after actual clothing. The types of underwear they have are ... part of their character, if that makes sense? It's sorta ... a facet of their personality, I think? That, and I sometimes like to do shoots of them in only their skivvies~

It does however make pants and the like a little harder to pull up/fasten, so sometimes they end up going commando.

 

I don't even own undies for mine. o_o even in skirts, I don't much see tthe point considering I never take a picture at an angle that's gonna give the farm away.

I always have underwear for each of my dolls ^^" They're only missing if I haven't made an order or just had a doll arrive earlier than expected. I don't have socks for them though unless its my crossdressing boy who wears tights and stockings under his dresses. For any doll that wears a kimono or skirt, I prefer having underwear on, it's so easy to flash in those.

I just like knowing they have underwear on, if the pants are too tight then I'll leave them off but I like them on so the boys package doesn't show up as much. Besides when I strip them down for sewing purposes, it's better to strip down to the undies rather than have someone come in and they're all butt naked and having to explain.

 

Well, most of the people I think that they do use underwear for their dolls, and yes, it's really weird to see a girl-doll with a skirt and without underwear.
But I doll doesn´t wear underwear because he is a boy and I think that it´s not really necessary, but I think that I will make one soon......

 

It took me ages to get around to it, and it really needs to be redone, but I've made my one and only girl a bra/knicker set. I really hated having Peitan in her super tiny skirt (which conveniently wouldn't ever stay down) flashing her goodies for all the world to see! I think it's a good idea to have knickers at least on dolls, I personally don't always need to be reminded that my dolls are anatomically correct. Plus, it keeps other unsuspecting non-doll people from going "eh..WHAAAAA!!!" I have enough random idiots traipsing in and out of my dorm room for that to be a VERY uncomfortable discussion one of these days. Thus, Peitan has her goody bits covered. The bra isn't awfully necessary I suppose, but it has exactly the same function, and I just don't like my girls going indecent. The boys however, are going commando until I can sort out enough money to buy some boxers as I can't make those. I will however, make a pair of knickers for Morghan since he's a bit fey.

 

I don't have any underwear for Ollie just yet, but I will when I can find some that look vaugely okay on him. Though he wears trousers all the time, so doesn't technically need them. Hm.

Same here. It is either undies or bodysuits if they're in a short skirt. I have bras too but I rarely use them.

 

...And mine doesn't even have any underwear... She's so small and I don't know yet where to find or how to make undies for her. But anyway to me it's ok to keep her without one - if the skirt is too short I will put tights on her.

 

My girl will wear undies about half the time when she gets home.
When she's wearing pants I probably won't bother with them simply because panty lines aren't cute, but when in a skirt she'll wear undies to avoid flashing the world her girly bits all the time.

 

The dolls of mne who have undies wear it when underessed and stored, the undies are light colors so that I don't worry about stains. One girl wears boots and with them tights, but it seems like most the ABJD stuff doesn't give room for tights or socks?!
