Do you prefer to buy dolls from the same maker, or a lot of different makers?

May 21, 2019

    1. I definitely prefer buying from multiple dollmakers. I have three favorite companies and I could never choose between them.

    2. Having various different dolls from a lot of makers is part of the fun for me.
As a bit of an odd case who only collects dolls to shell my two favourite characters it comes down to seeing a cute body or a fitting head sculpt and that might be enough for me to get prompted to branch out more. I usually will try to have something from the same maker for both boys, but it doesn't always check out. There are some makers/brands that I have more dolls from (Volks on the DD side and a few that are off-topic), but I like to keep my eyes open, even though I want to limit new additions to the family.
But I just enjoy seeing my two favourites in many different scales and renditions.

    3. I have dolls from multiple makers, although I prefer one maker -Volks, over most others. And I by far have the most SD, SDms and Yos. the only other makers where I have multiples are Unoa 3 dolls, Spiritdoll 3 dolls, and Customhouse 2 dolls -now long defunct company so unlikely to get more.

I have orphan dolls 1 only from: Dollshe, Luts Delf, Bimong, Xagadolls, and Angel Region -also a long defunct company.

I have been on the fence about getting a Dollstown doll for some time now.

    4. I like having dolls from various makers so I can experience the different styles of different sculptors, seeing the differences in face styles and joint/body style is really cool to me and I think that it's sometimes a bit more interesting when they're together.

BUT I also just got /another/ Unoa because I'm just absolutely in love with Gentaro Araki's work. Similarly, I'd love to have some more Fairyland dolls because I love Cerberus Project's work! (I'd love to get my hands on some of the garage kits from both of them, too...)

So basically, I want to enjoy the work of as many artists/companies as I can, but I will always have favorites that I just can't help but want to collect more of... xD

    5. Definitely wound up going the 'lots of different makers' route...
I have a couple pairs of same-company dolls who I specifically wanted to be part of the same stories, and I DO want to keep adding to some company-specific groups. But I also want to buy from some other companies I love the dolls of... and I do love having a lot of different bodies.

    6. It depends. I usually factor in the doll in its entirety first, then the maker. Right now, it just so happens that all of my wish lists are from either Dream of Doll or Crobidoll so I am sticking to those two for not. I am eyeing Luts recently a bit too though!

    7. I have dolls on my wishlist that are from different makers.

Force is from FallinDolls. Charlotte, Rudy, and Deborah are from Pipos. Freya and Freyr are from Hujoo.

    8. Lots of different makers! I've really enjoyed seeing the variety amongst things like sculpts, bodies, etc, but I do have a soft spot for Crobi in particular and by technicality, (one is a hybrid,) I have the most dolls from them clocking in at two.

    9. I love experiencing dolls from a variety of makers/companies. There's definitely a few that show up more in my collection than others, and at the moment I definitely have a preference (usually informed by how much I enjoy handling a doll, how it feels to touch, and the fulfillment process), but I am open to that preference changing over time. It definitely has.
