Do you have a Smart Doll? Pt.2

I don't have any smart dolls, but I remember the very first time I saw Mirai on tumblr! It was when there was a direction towards the mini robot/computer aspect - I think? - and I remember being enthralled at the idea of having a little Chobit, but as a broke high school senior, that wasn't going to be happening anytime soon, LOL. I did get into Monster High/Pullips after that, though, and not super long after that, into BJDs. I guess it's good they're not actually like little chobits since buying a mini sumomo would probably be extremely painful on the wallet.

I am hoping to buy a smartdoll pear girl in the future, though. I think she'll be a Fortitude in cinnamon... she's so pretty. I was going to buy her at the start of summer, but between getting my wisdom teeth removed ($1,400!) and getting a new-to-me car this summer (along with a fun unplanned tire replacement...), I've delayed any big doll purchases. And... honestly, I need to finish up some other doll projects before buying another doll that will require it's own sized clothing - I only have one SD, my dollfie dream Karin, I haven't even bought her clothes yet and I've had her... for over a year now, I think. Maybe two?! There is a seamstress I've been thinking of commissioning in the future for the pear girl's dress, though, and I've been thinking of commissioning her for a dress for Karin in the meantime. I'll consider Fortitude again in the future after dressing some of the perpetual nudists in my collection, ahaha If I do end up selling some stuff in my downsizing and curating of "the herd," though, getting Fortitude might be back on the table sooner rather than later.

 

I finally bit the financial bullet and got a Pear girl! With PayPay recently updating their conversion rate, she was actually cheaper than either of my regular girls, so now is the time to get one if you've been on the fence apparently.

I had Generation 2 frame resilient second hand, somehow did not bond with her, sold, then bought Mirai for my birthday two years ago. She stays. Then i bought Multiverse Chitose tea skin, did not bond with her, so she was sold. Now I bought Dauntless semi-real with original blue eyes and the original wig - evolve frame. And could not hesitate to buy an early present for my birthday - Pear tea Fortitude. she will be with me tomorrow as tracking shows that she is in my town.

She's so cute! I keep telling myself I'll print the Smart Doll Pear bodycon dress pattern, lengthen the skirt, and make my girl a goddess dress, but for now she's borrowing a boyfriend shirt and lounging around like it's her day off

Yes I finally found my smartdoll peeps on here. Hard time finding the forum. I own two Smart Dolls. I had 5 of them at one point. I am still loyal to my first ever Smart Doll Chitose (Stella) OG in milk and my Sana OG V1 (Pamela). They are gorgeous dolls but I feel like they have a certain distinguishable look to them that they look too similar so I am happy to remain at two and I feel fulfilled.

 

I have one smartdoll right now, a Mirai. I'll be giving her a little make over within the month once everything arrives so I'll post her when I do. I've always loved the look of the more custom smartdolls. I'll be leaving her faceup, but I'll be getting new eyes, hair, and changing her outfit up a bit.

 

Working on a project with three of my SmDs making humanized versions of my favorite Digimon. So that's a thing, I'll share pix of the group once I finish a face up on my fav of the trio.

 

I just got into Smart Dolls and I really like them so far. I got a girl doll for my first, but I really wanted a boy doll too. They are so expensive on the second hand market though I feel like there’s no way I can afford one without being really lucky when the next one drops on the main site.

 

I bought my boy through Fabric & Friends. Yes, he was stupid expensive but they do allow layaway.

 

I literally did this with a Smart Doll as a Gijinka of Umbreon. I can't wait to see your Digimon!!

 

Someone mentioned this to me before, it’s probably my best option tbh. I saw a new guy smart doll on the SmD website that looks like it hasn’t released yet, so I’m keeping my eye out.

Do you guys know if the pear XL busts are limited or will be in stock again? I wanted to get some for my tea pear girls but they are currently sold out. Thank you in advance for the information.

 

I'm sure they'll be in stock eventually, but it'll depend on when the team has time to make them. If you're respectful with a request, though, I'm sure Danny would like to know there's interest! Just don't expect them to them immediately, haha

 

Smart Doll Challenge

 

My Taquita is home. She is a pear Chitose in coffee color with the XL size bust

 

She is beautiful.

 

I finally bought my first Smart Doll today! I’m so happy I could cry tears of joy. I love her so much already! I got her pre-owned, for a price that was miraculously affordable for me. In my eyes, the fact that her listing was on eBay for over a month without any takers is proof that she was meant to be my doll. I just couldn’t stop thinking about her. And now… she’s finally coming home.

Specs:

Head Sculpt: unknown, possibly Transcendence (Cocoa)

Body: 3D printed in a similar color to Cocoa

I’m probably going to give her a new faceup and wig. I definitely want her to give her a new pair of eyes.

I’m also unsure of what to name her at this time.

Update: Bought my girl a new wig and eyes this morning~! The color of the wig and eyes were selected as a loving tribute to my favorite childhood anime, Inuyasha. I’m already feeling a little more inspired when it comes to my doll’s name and personality!

Final Update: Got a refund from eBay because my Smart doll was never shipped to me. Like my grandpa used to say, “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.” Good news is, I used my refund to buy a new doll (UF Doll Drink Plus, 1/5 Scale) from a much more reputable source (KikaGoods). At least I know for a fact that my new girl will actually arrive on my doorstep this time. Be careful out there when buying secondhand dolls, and always remember what my grandpa said.

Where do y’all find nice clothes for pears? My gal is currently stretching a dress someone I used to know made, but I’d love to be able to expand her wardrobe! I might even get patterns so I can start sewing for her!

I got this jacket from Volks for my pear girl. I desperately need a wig cap though, that wig is falling off every chance it gets

 

You could look at youtube. I found a few free pattern there. Smart doll has some pattern too.

 

Careful with silicone wig caps. It's been said that the silicone can get heated and cause the vinyl on the head to warp. Instead, a light colored cloth cap was suggested.
