    1. Heeey, a Smart Doll thread. Gotta say, it's been rough trying to find a community for these. I have an account on Dolldreaming but it's pretty quiet over there, and I don't take enough photos to participate much on IG. Wonder if I was just too late to the party.

      I just got my very first doll on Friday. He's a cinnamon Gemini and wow it was an adventure buying him. He's only being released as Simplicity kits as part of Only the Brave right now, which was recently divided into male and female options, but he seems to be the only one available for the male kits. That worked out great for me because there was a 99% chance of getting exactly what I wanted (and a 1% chance of still getting something I'd want, as I've been eyeing the SmD guys for a while). But yeah, I was up at strange hours for over a week, obsessively refreshing the page until something finally dropped. The email notification feature didn't actually send me anything regarding the release, I just happened to refresh at the right time... at roughly 6:15am EST. He was sold out in about 7 minutes, too. Crazy stuff.

      This is the best shot I have of his face right now. Hopefully I'll get enough clothing in for him to be able to take proper ones soon. He's "borrowed" my Angell Studio David's virgin killer sweater in the meantime and completely stole his fullset wig. Looks like he might wind up with his fullset jacket at some point, too.

    3. Not sure if anyone here will be able to help but I just got my parts today for the Cortex cinnamon bodies I ordered and there’s an extra metal hexagonal piece in the shoulder that I have not encountered in my last two kits. I have not yet been able to remove it to get the arm shell to sit there and I’m worried it is glued in so I’m not sure what to do to fit it together.

    5. Haha. I bought the cortex chaos so I wasn’t sure if they would answer lol. They did say the metal part had to be removed so I did that this morning and now I have arms.

    6. We got another Only the Brave drop today, possibly only the She Pebbles this time, and they took at least 4 hours from when I got the email notice to sell out. In contrast, both times the He Pebbles were part of it, they were gone in minutes. It was interesting to see because there were definitely Interstellar Blue dolls in the mix again but they weren't being snapped up as quickly as I would assume.

    7. I was turning off my alarm when the email came in about it this time, and there were no He Pebbles when I went into the site to check. Lol, I would've snapped one up right away if there had been. I might've gone for a She Pebble if I had a Gemini already, though. There are so many girls out/coming out "soon" that I would love to have.

    9. I have a milk skin smart doll and she’s closer in color to the flesh tone. Even the semi white skin is noticeably lighter.

    12. I just got my smart doll, Moment the other day. I also got some chaos heads to do face- ups on. I’m not sure what I will do for their bodies though. Anyone have chaos “floating heads?” What do you plan to do for their bodies?

      I've gotten a couple of packs of them with the intention of using different heads on the same body either for expression changes or be able to have multiple characters. As it goes, my roomie has two from my set both for that and to give a vinyl head to a Cortex body because I bought her the assembled frame + shell piece kit that went up in the Chaos Outlet. That's been updated to give you three shells now, by the way, and I'm a smidge salty about that but oh well.

      I'm actually planning on seeing if I can give my F6 (Challenge, Majesty, basically any character with the narrow eyed anime face) a more masculine faceup to see how it looks on the macho body I have. The other sculpts are too baby faced for the broad shoulders, but I'm hoping F6 is long enough to balance out.

    14. @honam: SmartDoll has recently stopped making the milk skin dolls and parts, so you'll have to get the body secondhand if you're going to do that.

    15. I just saw that and I too am a tad upset about buying before it went on super sale but oh well. I got the same two heads in each of my three chaos purchases so I figure the two bodies can share between them.

      More than likely, yeah. Both are used for a lot of the girls. I wonder if they all have the same defect? As far as I can tell, the biggest issue is that the hole for the neck peg is too small. I just heated it up and stuck a chopstick in to shape it.

      Me too, honestly. I want to give my Gemini a new faceup but I also feel bad messing up his company paint so I was hoping maybe a Genesis sculpt would be in one of the bags. F6 will work for now, though.

      Honestly, I'm just figuring based on my roomie's vinyl girls. She tried to get one on a neck peg and it absolutely wouldn't budge. No clue, though, as that's the only thing I see that could've been a "defect". Maybe they're all just surplus or something? It is a mystery.

    21. I also looked the ones over that I got and couldn’t really find anything wrong with them. The eyes weren’t cut out, but I think that was just a matter of when they were pulled.

      Yeah, they don't waste time cutting the eyes when they see something wrong with them right off the bat. Only heads that made it through the first look over get cut, and sometimes they get rejected in the middle of the process so then heads with only one eye opened wind up in the mix.

      I really hope I'll get to look through the outlet items IRL next year. It seems like a fun experience.

    23. I like the new girl (there's always a new girl) with the semi-realistic face. Danny puts things up then takes them down and I'm never up-to-date on what's actually available. I see 'introducing Knowledge' but not for sale yet. Anyone have a clue about when she's going to be for sale and how long? It's difficult to plan for a doll or save up since they don't stay around long.
      And what happened to the blue girl? She was reallly cool.

      Right now she's just been announced so she may not even be in production yet. He was playing around with ideas for the new G04 sculpt and she was the result... Which is kinda funny because it was previously mentioned that the sculpt was originally intended to be specifically for a cocoa girl.

      As for the blue girls, they're due out this month, hopefully. It was mentioned somewhere that October was the plan, and there's been a lot of blue busts posted on his Insta.

    25. In one of their Instagram "tour of the shop" post last week (I think) you could see bins with tons of blue parts. So I guess they are gearing up for the interstellar first invasion.

    27. I bought technically my 6th or 7th Smart Doll, but since I have decided she looks close to me as a young girl I am for sure keeping her and eventually passing her down to my granddaughter. She is the only one here and as sold all the others to friends or people I know well. This is Bailey and she has quite the out going personality. I am hopefully of adding a Smart Doll boy one day as he won't be her boyfriend, but her friend. As I have gotten older I have learned to appreciate the ease of these dolls in posing and carrying esp.

    31. Any stains I have found I use first a DRY Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. If that doesn't work I WET it and try again. I have been lucky to not have to go any further. I have heard if you have anything that still won't go away go to Danny's tips as he uses some cream for zits and shares links. So I would check Smart Doll website.

    36. Finally, I've wrestled a (permanent perhaps?!) wig into submission for my boy!

      Working on this wig took hours. First I had to remove the extreme flip it had with boiling, slightly deepfried the ends on purpose for a textured look that's easy to manipulate, then manually removed the individual stray deepfried hairs so everything but the ends are silky-smooth. (The ends look coarser than they actually are, they're only a little less soft than the untouched hair but the texture gives them hold.) Such is working with an ancient wig. (It doesn't even have elastic! I had to manually take it in about 2mm, but it stays put!)

      I've got to think of a new name for him as the character he had changed a bit and doesn't look like him... at all.

    38. I'm curious about how the combat glove hands look on guys since they can be used by both guys AND girls, but are said to be a bit daintier. I've only seen one (1) picture of a guy with these hands on but it's not nearly enough to decide on!

      I'd really like them for my boy, but not if they're smaller than the default hands by a lot. Just knowing if they're a bit bigger than the default female hands would help, but I haven't seen that kind of comparison anywhere, either.

    41. been away for months cause I broke my right arm
      just started back sewing and knitting last Monday
      it was all a whirlwind my husband did got a kidney transplant last December 14th
      e is doing good in the mean while we stay in as much as we can and I tried some embroidery made a shirt for Smart dolls with a baby yoda

      @Shai Alison Hernandez on Munecas Poupees and Dolls says acne cream will get stains out.
      Here are my two girls, Moment and Azone Lycee. I made Lycee's spring dress this morning hoping it will help warm up the weather!

      I’m Carlos and I’m happy to see more nice faces! I love all things BJD and Smart Dolls are at the top of my list! I currently own 6 dolls: Patrick (Eiji Milk), Jaegar (Eiji Cinnamon), Timothee (Gemini Cinnamon), Faeria (Dauntless Cinnamon), Naomi (Reflection Cocoa), and Audrey (Nostalgia Tea). I think of them as the models of my company. I’m jumping feet first into sewing for other than just a hobby. I want to offer more options of clothing to other doll types. I have purchased recently two Dollshe boys (but how knows when they will come) and one Doll Family H boy. I plan of course expanding to other dolls. My wishlist includes: Dollfie MDD, Dollshe Craft, Fairyland, RingDoll, Granado, and Iplehouse. We will see what will happen in the future and I look forward to chatting with everyone soon!

    57. Whelp today I ordered my second Smart Doll, I needed Genesis version 1 before she is replaced. Mine will be a trans boy, going to rename him Hero to kind of keep the Smart Doll "Story Tellers" naming theme.

Alright, since i've looked ALL OVER the internet and comparisons of Smartdoll skin tones with resin BJD ones seem to just not exist -- any of you with Tea skin Smart Dolls have any tan resin in the house that looks similar? I already know it's darker than Volks brown but lighter than many other companies' tans.

      Actually, as a point of curiousity knowing about *any* SmD/resin matches would be interesting; I'm after tea matches in particular though.

I just toted one of my tea heads around to the various tans/browns in my collection and can say it's darker than Luts Real Skin Brown, darker than Fairyland tan, darker than 2D Doll tan by a lot, and definitely not close to old DollZone tan. Of what I have available it's closest to Iplehouse Real Skin, but with the disclosure that my RS boy is several years old (iirc 2014), and even then the tea skin is still a warmer color and possibly a little darker.

    60. Hero came today, I will share pix as soon as I find him a shirt to go over his binder. He has a lot of attitude for a doll, punched my S.O. in the face, and then stole Haruka's default skiny jeans. (Haruka is my Smart Doll Eiji) And do not worry I gave Haruka new jeans that fit him nicer and he can sit easier now. XD
