Do you believe in haunted dolls? Do/could you have one?

Jul 11, 2018

    1. I should note - I'm not saying I believe this was possessed but my experience of something (more than likely a coincidence) but here goes...

When I got my doll I was really pleased with her, she looks amazing. I was trying to get a pair of trousers on her but no luck, so my partner (without permission) picked her up and was looking etc and I pointed out she hadn't asked etc so that was that (long side story short we had dolls before but sold them as we didn't have the money to invest, and my partner did all of the clothing etc last time so I wanted to learn myself).

My local pagan shop got some double pointed quartz in which is pretty rare, and I hadn't put it with the rest of my crystals yet, and it was on the table so I thought. Anyway I packed her away once I'd done and we went on with the rest of the day. When we were sleeping, my partner woke up choking and my first thought for some reason was of my doll wasn't happy and it was her (no idea why) anyway I made sure she was OK not mentioning this at the time. So next day when I get time I get the doll out she looked... Off. Cold, or sullen, and I couldn't explain why. My partner was the other side of the table and noticed the double quartz point was in this box and I swear I have no recollection of putting it there

After that, just to make sure I smudged her to be on the safe side!

    2. I'm not really sure about this, so I can't give a definite yes or no.
Ever since I was little, I have loved dolls,
(when I was little I collected Barbies, then as a teenager I collected Porcelain dolls, as a young adult Pullips, and now BJDs.)
and never have I experienced anything odd with them, although I do have a few people in my life who think they're creepy.
However, I do feel like one of my Groove dolls (company that makes Pullips), specifically my Glen Isul, watches me sometimes but then I just shrug it off and think that it's my love for him that anthropomorphizes him (he's my favourite out of all the Groove dolls I own).
This also seems unreasonable when I think about my great-aunt's doll.
It's an old doll made in the early 1900's it used to belong to her when she was a child.
She has porcelain(?) arms, legs, and a head, the rest of her body is soft.
She is not in good conditions at all, but I decided to bring her home when my great-aunt passed.
No one wanted her and they wanted to donate her (she was most likely going to get trashed there), so I kept her.
All my cousins constantly ask me about her because they were creeped out by her.
Nonetheless, I have her sitting next to my bed and she is a very calm girl, nothing has happened and believe me,
if this one is okay then Isul should be good haha.

    3.
    4. I do believe in them, the majority of my dolls contain a spirit. I had a friend that was a reiki master...at the time, I thought my doll was simply that, but when I placed him in his hands, he told me there was definitely something there.
A lot of my friends were clearly very intimidated by him, but were completely charmed by some of my other dolls. They would even tell me that they didn’t like being in his presence.
So yes, I believe that dolls can be haunted. Either on purpose or completely accidentally.

    5. Omg! That's so special. :) i know a reiki master too, definitely going to ask her whether she experiences the same thing with my dolls.

    6. So I dont believe in ghosts but im an avid thrifter and estate sale goer so many of my things were put into my possession after someone has past... and while I don't believe in ghosts I believe energy can linger. I have one fabric doll, all white with no features that I was given free from a thrift store because they couldn't figure out the price. That doll freaks everyone I know out but I find it calming.

    7. I believe, yes but I've personally never encountered a haunted doll. I don't believe dead humans haunt dolls though so I would not keep such a doll because I don't share my home with negative entities. My dolls numbered in the hundreds and I had a lot of thrift dolls so that's saying something. I don't have but a handful of dolls now but when I did, I felt protected by them not threatened.

    8. My brother accused me of bringing home a haunted doll because I found it in a parking lot.

I told him a plastic doll cannot get haunted, because it's not ghost-absorbent in the same way porcelain would be.

(idk what the consensus on resin is)

But at any rate, I treat all my dolls as if they were haunted just to be on the safe side. (Treating them with respect and gentleness, giving them attention, and making sure their needs are met)

    9. I do not have a bjd yet but I completely believe anything can be possessed. As a child my mom put her 1950s doll and teddy in our room on top of my sisters tall dresser. Many times my sister and i were woke up with a loud crash. the doll was on the floor and the teddy was in the center of the dresser. A week later i was alone in our room and heard something behind me. When i turned around the teddy was there. Off the dresser on the floor and about a foot away from me. i screamed and didn't stop till my mom came to get me. Even my brother was freaked out by that thing. When our mom went to visit someone all three of us were in the living room watching a movie. The rocking chair started to rock by itself. When my brother got up to check it out he found the teddy in the floor mostly hidden by our mothers lap blanket. My brother said we are getting rid of it. All three of us walked to the park and my brother threw it in the duck pond. Mom came home and found it outside. Even our cats would hiss at it and when the neighbors dog started barking and growling at it my brother tried to get rid of it again. He threw it in a garbage truck one morning and yes he had a witness. Someone brought it back. Mom had sewed her name into the bow so she knew it was hers. We got into a lot of trouble for that. One year later our mom was having a yard sale and for some reason she had to leave( can't remember why) and my brother and sister had to take care of the yard sale. I was crying cause i did not want to be alone in the house with it and i must have said the words teddy bear. A man walks up and asks my brother if we have bears for sale, he was looking to buy and he was a collector. My brother gave it to him and all three of us kids never told our mom. We kept that secret till she passed away. I'm sorry this Post was so long but that thing was horrible.

    10. I'm a weirdo in that I've always wanted one, even when I was a kid. In fact, I think I actively hunted for them when I was young. :sweat

Fairly certain I lost these dolls, so I can't say, but I do remember having a pair of twins who would keep disappearing and ending up in other places, and one time showed up tucked into my bed like people. I assumed my sister was doing it for a while until I found out that they freaked her out, lol.

I guess they just hid very well one day because I have no clue what happened to them. I also remember that one of them kept losing her pants. If there's a ghost in there it must hate pants. :nowords:

    11. I don't believe in ghosts or haunted objects, but I will say that some antique dolls have *that* energy if you know what I mean. Maybe it's that they look so unusual and are so old, I can't say what is it about them that gives me an uneasy feeling.

    12. I believe... Will not share a house with one. My mother has collected literally thousands of antique dolls her whole life. The house I grew up in had shelves of every kind of doll on every bit of the walls. Most were never of concern in that regard. A couple felt different. Only 1 made the whole family uncomfortable. Even with all the other dolls eyes, it was the only one that felt like it was watching. So my mom sold it as quickly as she could. This was before ebay and she went to antique/doll conventions regularly. She bought and sold dolls alot. But that one took a while to sell, even when she priced it much cheaper than it was supposed to be worth.
