For all that are currently waiting on he Ex Machina 2.0:
I communiated with my dealer in October regarding the status and completely forgot to share it here ^^" They wrote:
"The master mold of the 2.0 has been completed for a while, D.Lace's factory has a lot of trouble making all of his dolls because of how complex they are. I'm afraid that I don't know the progress of the adjustments, only that the artist has to do a lot of the work that's normally done by doll-casting factories, so the progress is slow."

But since this info is now already two months old, does anyone here know any more current information? tbh I kinda doubt there is, so I didn't want to bother my dealer again, but still wanted to try my luck here

 

I ordered through BJDivas and they told me pretty much the same thing. That parts were fiddly so were being cast by hand. This was about a week ago. I do notice DLace offered a new doll, though, so maybe the works are moving along? Have to admit, artists should have a better idea of production times and costs before they offer things for sale. My money is important to me. Dolls becoming less so with every long wait or every jacked up price (looking at you Fairyland.)

just sayin' emails to your customers on specific orders would be appreciated. keep us in the loop.

 

@petiteballerine yeah it would be good if DLace were to give a clear new estimate of the waiting/production time... (like if they produce a doll or two per week and look at how many orders they have, then how many months are left) it's easier to wait when there is a clear deadline ^^"
I'm continuously stalking their weibo for that kind of info, but except for doll convention photos and what seem to be private collection photos, there really isn't much new info on her production...
But which new doll do you mean?

 

DLace posted this reply to a post a day ago with the (eng translation) caption: "Looking forward to more returns" and the photos look like possible owner photos, so maybe it's not going to be long until we'll get new info? except if that person is either his factory or other helpers/quality checkers...

@Lady Ravenswood it's true that with the level of intricacy it's expected to take a long time (the jointed robotic arms are going to be mind-blowing I think!!) I also settled in for a long wait and am by no way worried, I have yet to see any bad feedback for DLace, which is amazing ^^ I'm just too exited so I'm trying to find as much info as possible
It's really interesting to hear about the reactions to the previous releases (oh I wish more people would post owner pictures...), what do you think of the Ex Machina 2.0s release? While other dealers seem to only have a limited amount they could sell and are now sold out, dollyplanet seems to still have some in-stock, so I'm wondering what reactions there are to that (or of course it's possible that the 2.0 is not as popular, which would be a pity) Were the previous comments on his weibo?
Oh, may I ask how long you had to wait for your two machinas?

@Lady Ravenswood Ahhhh that's so amazing to hear that you'll soon get yours!!! I'm knocking on wood for you that nothing happens in the Mail, Christmas time can be scary... (did you contact the postal service about the other package? sometimes calling them helps)
Now that she is on the way to you, what are looking forward to the most about her? For me it's the head and the robotic arms

 

I feel like with DLace's dolls, one really has to splurge on their mechanical doll parts!! they are beautiful and such a rare/novel thing for BJDs! I'm still eyeing the statue of liberty head to put on the 2.0, because it can m o v e on its o w n and that kills me
But is the mechanical arm of the Ex Machina male jointed with string or hinge-jointed? The 2.0's hands kinda look more hinge-jointed, right?

 

Im getting in the mechanical arm for male ex machina, plus two no.4 heads, whenever they're ready... I had them on a 5 or 6 month layaway that ended in October, and divas says they're coming in as they're finished, aka, they're not in im good with it, though. I'll let you know once I get the arm, assuming someone else doesn't beat me to it!

People who have done faceups on the mecha stuff that comes with paint... whats your strategy going to be for faceups/faceup removal without damaging the inner paint? I'll admit, i've never had to worry about not getting remover inside the dolls head before. I guess I'll just... be careful?? But I usually do a bit of messy scrubbing, and im willy-nilly about removing faceups whenever i feel like it... oh well, part of the charm, I guess. Maybe I can mask it somehow

 

Oh yes, I have the male only right now! I'm sure his inner parts would come out somehow, but im afraid of all the tiny hinges, I dont know how well they'd go back together

 

I saw the pod as well!! It'd have been nice to put one of the other Ex Machinas in it, but the size won't work... but it could be a fancy doll carrier for smaller dolls?
I like the male 2.0's head a lot due to the mechanism, but I'm not sure on this body version

@Xila please keep us updated on if masking off helped!! I'm sure others might run into the same situation in the future ^^

 

Looks like Dolly Planet will be selling the Machina Male 2.0 and there will be a refundable interest deposit for the SD version of this guy. If there is enough interest (10 deposits) he'll be around 1500USD for the SD version 68cm, and 850USD for the Fashion Mini version, both fully painted with no other options currently available. There is no limit to how many can be made, but this first run 20 of each size will be available. The Fashion Mini version doesn't need an interest deposit, only the SD

I think male ex machina 2.0 loses me with those bulging veins and raw biological look, even in SD size, which I'm relieved about! lol. Interesting that (iirc, haven't checked in a day or two) they're leaning to a smaller SD, not a honking 75cm like 1.0.

I was surprised to see she was in stock on Dolly Planet so I placed my order yesterday... but the order status says the order "failed". Does anyone know what that could mean? The money did go through.

 

hey guys! i want to buy a body from dolly planet (this one: 白零|WHITE 1/3 BJD – 68CM Male Body No.1 - dollyplanet ) does anyone has their doll in white/normal, AND switch doll in powder beige? I want this body for my switch head, but I'm not sure about skintone, so if anyone can help me, i'll be very grateful!

 

@Lady Ravenswood I just checked the order status and it now says "Paid"! I guess they had to confirm the order manually. Gah I'm so excited I haven't received any emails from the company though, just PayPal. Is that normal?

How long do they usually take before they ship from your experience?

Have you guys managed to find any bottoms that fit her bum or eyes that fit her faceplate? I think I may try to just make a pair of eyes myself when she arrives.

 

@Matango Hi! I don't know how it is specifically for Ex Machina 1.0/original, but Dlace is currently working on and shipping off the 2.0's one by one. Since the 1.0 is a bit less difficult to cast I guess the caster they work with can lighten their workload, but it would depend on how much of the process they do themselves. I don't know how long your layaway is, but I highly doubt she will be ready to ship before it ends, it'll probably be a wait that is a few months more even

I haven't found eyes that fit the 1.0's head yet since the inner parts are a bit bulky, but I haven't tried eye chips yet, perhaps they are flat enough! Otherwise selfmade should work ^^

 

@Miistery Thanks for the info! I actually paid the whole amount upfront but I'm mentally ready for at least 5 months of waiting. If they ship her out early it will be a pleasant surprise.

I was looking at clothes and shoes while waiting for the 2.0 and found a few cute shoes that would require heeled feet and not the flat feet she has. So I was looking into which company has compatible feet that I could hybrid her with for the shoe styles I'm planning for. I realised I also would love to have Tabi-compatible feet, which as far as I've seen only Volks has right now?

Onto my question: Does anyone know or could anyone try out what feet she's compatible with within your respective collections? I'm not looking for resin matches since she'll usually wear socks or long clothes to closed shoes, but I'm looking for shape matches. I've seen that the 2.0's ankles seem to have an ankle ball? But I can't tell which company's feet the ball shape/ankle size and the hook system will fit...
@Lady Ravenswood , as far as I've seen you're the only one currently active in this thread that already has the 2.0, would it perhaps be possible to see close-up photos of the ankle system? I would be very thankful

I feel like I am much closer to finding good feet for the 2.0 especially the ball size is probably going to be very useful. I'll ask around on insta/facebook for the specific brands I'm currently looking at if other dolls have the same diameter. Thank you also for the info that Dollmore Model heel feet would probably not fit!
It's interesting how the s-hook is shaped and that the bar is made of resin, the first is perhaps because of the diameter of the leg channel, but the second I've always wondered if it were structurally better or worse than metal bars

 

Got so much pleasure looking through photos. Ex Machina male in his first version took my breath away. Too bad that Dlace don't have his grey 1/4 variant.
Also I absolutely fall for Healing Angel and hope I'll be lucky enough to get her

 

@Le Sombre Soleil the angel really is amazing, if I could, I would buy her wings just to display them looking at DLace's weibo/instagram, seems like they're currently doing more for blythe, including a head with similar wings!!

Ordered the 3 april my first ex machina 1.0 in WS.....crossing fingers to have her less than 5-8 months.....I don't know if the transparent bust is included in the set.I wish it's included ...

 

Still waiting for 2.0. Not happy. This is a long silence between artist and customer. It's getting Dollshe-esque.

 

@petiteballerine I was informed by my dealer (when I asked for a timeline) that DLace is working on them one by one (so when one is finished and shipped, the next is started) since her parts are too complex for parallel quick production. Of course since we don't know how many people ordered and where each of us is on that list, it brings a certain uncertainty. But DLace always delivers, even if it takes long, so it's not even close to Dollshe.
If you want to hear more infos, I would recommend asking your own dealer for an update. There doesn't exist a direct line of communication between DLace and customer. So it kind of falls on the dealer to update you and to send the artist the questions you have.

 

Thanks @Miistery . That's the info I have too. Of course it isn't Dollshe, but it's taking money and then silence from the artist for a long time. I admire their work, but not the professionalism. There should be updates, pictures of progress. Let us be part of the process. It's the artist's responsibility. For me, it's disappointing, handled badly.

Hi! so I wrote to BJDivas this week and asked them what number I am on their waitlist for the ExMach2 since I was curious too and received their response today. So I ordered mine on Feb 1st 2021 and I am nr.5 on the waitlist. Now there will be customers in-between from other dealers like dollyplanet etc, but it does tell us a little bit on how long it's going to take. Personally, since I ordered so late, I expect to receive mine in autumn if there are not too many customers in-between. Since you @petiteballerine seem to have ordered around Dec 12th 2020, you're probably much higher on the list ^^
It seems the wide-spread Covid restrictions and closures have been an added obstacle to getting the parts from the factory to the artist for further steps and assembly

 

on another note, did anyone also see this video from two (half) unboxings of ExMach2? () I thought it really cool to see the difference between no spray putty and spray putty!! I personally got mine with the spray putty and hadn't seen any owner photos of it until now (as far as I could tell), so it was so cool to see!!

 

I ordered 2x no.5 head, with ex machina 1.0 mechanical arm, 4/13/21. No news as of yet, so it seems the production timeline is fairly long at this point.

 

Aaaaaa I just got a shipping invoice from DollyPlanet ($160 ouch). Does that mean my Ex Machina is ready? I doubt it but maybe... I ordered 1.0 in January.

I ordered my Male in May of 2020. I ordered my girl 8th of December. I paid them both off in 2020/2021 respectively and I really have tried to get straight answers from Divas with no luck. I've asked every few months and I get the same answer (Can only work on one at a time etc etc) I feel forgotten. I've seen so many people's v2s and males and I'm still waiting (25 months/17 months respectively) I don't know what to do at this point. I just want my dolls. (I understand the shutdown issues as well, but 25 months for the Male has really put me in a sour mood as people who ordered after me received theirs from Divas.)

 

Tbh the more I hear here how long or not long some wait for specific dolls and pieces makes me wonder in what order DLace goes about making them... Are some orders stalled because DLace wants to ship one person's order in full (all ordered items together, even if not ordered together)? Or do some buyers have some sort of priority, like local buyers or buyers from specific dealers? I really want to order one of those cute Mars Zoo figures that are now on dollyplanets site, but then again I think DLace really should finish all the old pending orders before opening pre-orders for new and possibly complex, time-consuming stuff...

 

Hello all, I have a question, do you have information on whether the no.5 head have recast or not? I really like her but she sold out so I was thinking of buying her second hand in Xianyu (taobao 2nd marketplace), and given she originally did not have a coa, it was even more difficult to indentify whether she is legit or not.
Also, it would be great if someone have information whether the artist planning on open another pre-order for her or not

Oh that's a difficult one. Until a while ago I would have said that since DLace's sculpts are usually so complex and not that well-known/sought-after, that even without COA, there's not too much to worry about, but recently I saw a recast of the witch's head on aliexpress... I think DLace should really start creating COAs... I don't know Xianyu, but perhaps you could inquire for a proof of purchase? Like paypal receipts or similar. However, as of yet I haven't seen a recast of the No.5 on the internet.

As to if DLace will offer the head one more time is difficult to say, perhaps message them directly on weibo or ask a dealer to ask them for you?

 

SHE'S HERE I expected the production to take longer, I guess the 1.0 version is less complicated so it can be done and shipped faster? I ordered on Jan 28 from DollyPlanet and they shipped her June 1st. Unfortunately they didn't let me know the package was on it's way and what the tracking number was. I also ordered a wig that wasn't in the box :') I hope they'll respond to my email because I haven't had any contact from them except for PP invoices.

I wasn't expecting the mechanical parts to be painted tbh, what a pleasant surprise (I only bought the base nude doll). You can kinda see the resin looks darker where they shine through. The brain part is secured with eye putty and got loose during transport. A tiny piece broke off but it will be easy to fix. The moving faceplate is sooooo neat.

I know it may seem like complaining but those are all small gripes really, I'm so stoked to have her! It's my first 1/3 scale so I'm still a bit scared to move her lol, some of the joints require so much force and I don't want to break anything.

Some quick pictures, I'll post more after I do the faceup and sort out her outfit. It looks like flat glass cabochons fit her eyewells even with the mechanism inside so I'll try to make her a pair of eyes.
