DLace Discussion {Ex Machina and Other 1/3 Sculpts}

I am kinda tempted by ex machina boy, but not sure it's $1000 worth of love.

 

Ex Machina is absolutely stunning. It doesn't seem that he's limited? I thought I had all my doll plans set in stone but man, I would love to own this robot boy someday. For now I'll just admire him from afar.

 

I've got my Ex Machina a little more than one month ago. I was pretty unhappy because she came with face broken, mechanism inside the head broken, one ankle broken and gun arm broken. I hope @Lady Ravenswood that yours won't be broken. ^^'
Luckily DLace replaced the head and leg, and reimbursed the gun arm.

 

Oops I use the wrong word! I already get the replacement parts.
They were really better packed. (My girl came in one box and not enough bubble wrap)
But she is beautiful nonetheless.

Congrats for your girl! I'm happy if DLace now wrap carefully their dolls! Did you bought her extra parts?

Did you succed in putting her eyes? Mine can't wear the eyes I already own, the mechanism inside her head doesn't allow it.
The clear bust is really great, mine will probably wear it very often.

Oh, you get a n°5 too? Do you already know on which body you're going to put it? I absolutely don't know what body buy for it.

Just put in a layway for him. I couldn't help myself - he's too beautiful!

 

If the boy machina had clear parts so his robot interior could be on display all the time, I would buy him. I've sent dollyplanet an email asking them to consider it.

 

A partially transparent robo boy would be cool.

 

Glad to see this thread back! Bumping. I've heard horror stories of how thin the resin is on ex machina female... but I'm totally lured in by male ex machina regardless. It's weird to see he'll only be available in normal and white-- I've grown really used to seeing him in grey!

I also have my eye on the witch's head... PSA, they will sell it separately (head, brain, hair, Crown) for some odd $200. I feel confident I could make her a clay headback and use her as a normal head. But what body would you even begin to pair that with? What aesthetic? Such challenges, which I do enjoy...

 

I also thought of building my Witch's head a headback to use it as normal head. I actually only liked her face and I'm not really happy about the crown (I just don't like the idea they just used the crown and brain parts of their full skeleton boy). But I won't get her an own full body, the doll stand is just perfect for my lack of free doll space^^

Sadly mine is NS, and a very yellow one, so I don't know what body may fit her (or him). I thought about an old Volks body, but the neck may be too large and I don't like very much simple jointed bodies.
Well, if Loongsoul would still accepted custom color orders, I would have bought a bloom body. I fear my n°5 will stay a floating head for a while!

 

The male ex machina is very tempting. I do think he will be joining the family (my female ex machina needs a friend). Wonder if they will release more optional parts other than the guitar, like they did for the gal? Did think about picking up one of the No5 heads for my gal. Would love it if the No4 fit the male, too bad.

It doesn't look like it would be too difficult to build a head back for the witch (very tempting).

 

I've emailed dolly planet requesting some specific pics of ex machina male, and asking a few questions. They said wait 2 weeks. I waited about 3 and then gave them a nudge. About a week later, still no response. Those of you who have actually ordered through dolly planet, was the communication ok? Is this normal?

 

@Xila I ordered their new female heads and have had almost instant communication; but in the past, sometimes they wouldnt answer me, but I think its more an issue with hotmail than them, Im also thinking maybe the Covid19 might be an issue

Thanks, @GreenTeaSlug and @Lady Ravenswood ! I'm not giving up, I'm just antsy because there's a secondhand doll I asked the seller about (completely unrelated), and they havent gotten back to me, either. So I'm like, why! Let me give you money, doll people!

I was specifically asking about seeing the mechanic/flesh hips from the back (curious about the butt, not gonna lie). I was also asking to see what was underneath all his removable torso panels. We only get to see behind some. I also asked if he came with a heart, since some pics show there is a heart, and some pics show the spot empty. And lastly, I asked about their maximum layaway.

 

Hi, guys. i have ex machina female and i have a hard time to find her clothes. Apparently she's larger than feeple70.(waist, chest and hips). Did you find a similarity with ohers sd bodies? Thank you.

 

I was lucky enough to get an Ex-Machina girl last year second hand (a grail she's just so perfect I've been to scared to do her face lol....) I want to get her clear chest part and the sword arm for her but priorities of university> dolls (which is not very cash money)

She has a bunch of alternative futuristic-y clothing I made for her and a pink bob wig! I had to make custom clothes mostly because her butt is so big lol

I saw that outfit on instagram, @IpLemons ! Absolutely amazing! I think the black mesh suit with the pink wig will look wonderful together!

Also, omg rude, dlace/dollyplanet posted new pictures of the exact ex machina part I had asked for more pictures of, without providing pictures of the thing I specifically asked to see (I'm kidding, it's not a big deal, I find humor in it, and of course I'm not entitled to anything from them. I'm getting him either way, I'm just settling some tax stuff first)

seriously, though, a metal penis part for male ex machina was just released, for those who didn't see it. I was planning on just keeping the magnet parts off completely, but I'm such a sucker for getting allllllllll of the parts associated with a doll......

Dollyplanet did respond to me on facebook! For posterity: 6 months is their maximum layaway*, with 30% deposit upfront. (Or you can do the deposit, and then pay the remainder when the doll is ready to ship). I remember looking for this info on their website and not being able to find it, so I wanted to cross-post it here.

*= I specified "for a doll over $1000" when I asked, so while this is probably their general layaway policy, I cant guarantee it

 

i’m being tested to the absolute maximum of my abilities to have self control to not order a fullset with makeup. Also I wish his “extra part” was a part of the normal set lol that’s a lot of money for a little robot guy...

The body blushing on my Ex Machina is REALLY cool and I highly reccomend it and will definitely get it on future dolls. I do my own makeup on all my dolls but body blushing is a pain if the doll isn’t already in pieces etc etc. time consuming work when you are in the range of dolls I have >_>. And tbh they do a really good thorough job!!! I keep staring at him. I love his removable tiddies.

Is her entire body blushed, @IpLemons , or just the mechanical parts? Have you seen any chipping so far? The body blusing on ex machina male looks awesome, but isn't quite what I want, though I do really like how they do the metal parts. Oh, and also, I'm required to encourage you to succumb to temptation they would look so cool together!

 

her entire body is done with cute freckles and she has a mani-pedi. Her face is also freckled but lacking a faceup and her robot joint parts are colored in on her elbows and knees. The “brain” parts are 3D printed so i think theyre automatically that color. Her chest is also done.’Its really attractively done and it is a faceup that can be expanded upon easily by an artist (i would be the artist in this case)

She’s very cute just the way she is and despite my confidence in my abilities I’d need to play around in cspaint to mock up some faces for her lol.

 

Omg love seeing the pics of your ex machina girls! I'm very strongly considering getting ex machina male he's just so incredible and unique. I'm just having a crisis over which skin color I want haha

 

So happy to see DLace getting love and attention too! I only recently discovered them but I've fallen head over heels for their sculpts, which are sooo gorgeous. Plus I love that the bust stands they make are not actual busts (head and shoulders only) but rather almost full-body figures cut off at the thigh! I was considering buying a full body to hybrid my Doll Chateau Evangeline head, but now I'm wondering if it might be a cool idea to purchase their 1/3 female body stand for a Pygmalion-like character instead. ;O

Also, let me just point everyone to DLace's newest 1/3 sculpt, this Medusa boy!! The snakes' heads are even removable! He was released just a few days ago and has absolutely stolen my heart. Hopefully he'll steal yours, too, lolol.

AHHHHHHHH they need to stop this seriously this is unfair!!!! ;-; the COVID stuff has me in a financial bind!!!

 

The boy medusa is amazing I'm already planning on getting him! If anyone else is looking for ideas for him. Could also be a her easily! I believe the 70cm impldoll idol female body would work quite well since it has the right neck and shoulder length.

For male Body hybrids. the 72cm boy from Doll family H would be a suitable body as well too. If anyone else has ideas on bodies prob be a good idea to share them here!

He is already have a plan xD just no name yet but I'll think of one.

 

Could anyone inform me what the Dlace normal skin resin is like? Does it have pink'ish undertones- or is more like yellow'ish in colour? :3

 

I'd say the normal option is more yellowish, if the colors shown by the 1/3 female body stand are any indication. Here is what seems to be their white versus their normal at least for that!

 

@Lotte Rotten Dlace NS is yellow'ish. I can make comparison pictures if you want. Moreover it's not always the same NS : my Ex Machina is quite pale when my n°5 is very deep yellow. =_=

I don't own anything from DLace yet, but my gosh, this company sure is one of the most exciting new doll companies out there right now, isn't it?!! I love how they come up with designs and dolls that are so different from what other companies release! Please everybody, do share photos on here of your dolls- such unique dolls^^

 

I had been planning to buy the Male as soon as I saw him in their Instagram, but life hit and I had to move twice since then, and when i finally settled and got a new job...in comes the coronavirus
As soon as I can work again I'm absolutely putting him on Layway.
........not that I know what to do with him yet.

 

The male machine sculpt is my new dream doll but what a time to think of doll plans! =(
Their dolls in general are absolutely stunning but the male android is especially amazing.

Oh yes! I know. I was the one (or maybe not the only one) to reach out and ask them about him initially! (I had intended to ask about them sponsoring a layaway for him for me, and instead they offered to talk to them about becoming a dealer for them instead)

khjgfdsdfkjshjfsdk I am OBSESSED with Greek mythology, and once I saw their M. Medusa head, I was a goner ^^;; I actually bought him!! I'll probably get a more neutral body, who knows, as there's still a 3-4 month production period. But I'm very excited to get the sculpt!!

SORRY I didn't mean to spam the thread, but I ordered the M. Medusa head just a few weeks ago! I was getting anxiety because I messaged Dolly Planet via their email, asking about when DLace was going to close pre-orders. They replied back telling me they weren't sure when the artist was going to close! So I bought off a head of mine and immediately set off to buy the M. Medusa head ^^ Though, I'm thinking... since it says M. Medusa head, does that mean there might be a... F. Medusa head?

Oh! And I didn't know this until asking, but I believe you can ask to pay for just the head, if you're anything like me and only had the exact amount for the head. I asked via email and they told me that I could pay the shipping fee once it was ready for shipping (actually, I can't remember the exact words, but bottom line is you could actually pay for the shipping fee at another time). Which was fabulous news, as I wanted to secure the M. Medusa head.

... I'm so excited for the Medusa head. Here's to hoping all the snake heads, their bodies and the little tongue for the head will all come in one piece! I'm slightly worried bc customs here opens all packages and, heavens forbid, a piece might get losted bc of customes oH WELL it'll be some time. This thread just makes me so happy, love seeing all your kickass robot hotties!!

Hello guys. Sorry If im asking it here (due to lack of dlace topic threads), but can you guys give a good time estimate as to how long dlace processes full doll orders. Do they stick with what is shown in dollyplanet page? Im planning on doing a layaway for the ex machina male, tho. Im not sure how long should i go for. Thank you in advance! I was told about 3-4 months for my doll head. Maybe its about 5-6 months for a full doll? Its a rough estimate. You can always ask the dealer you are ordering from for a time estimate too. Might not be perfect but you will have a pretty good idea.

 

I already did. They said it would roughly take 5-8 months. Hopefully it'll be on the fifth month ahahhha. Regardless, I do hope the artist is doing okay despite the current pandemic

 

I agree It gives me time to grab the head's body so I'm not really worried too much. As long as our favorite artists are okay. Then I'm okay! I'm still pretty hyped about getting the male medusa head lol.

 

Yeah. Thats one cool head! Actually to be honest, almost all the sculpts under this brand are really beautiful! The type that leaves a really strong impression!

 

Like the MadMan I am, I put the Male Ex Machina On Layaway!
And I decided what to do with him! Or technically them, I suppose. They'll go with my Grant Phillipe, I'll just have to dye them grey to match him and they can be creepy alien robots together (that is to say, when I can get my Grant's clothing commissioned ) Hopefully he comes quickly!! I wonder if the 5-6 month estimate is true...I'd love to have him by Christmas!!

 

I hope so too! From what Ive been told (kokdoll fb), the artist have juet finished or have been finiahing the 2nd batch ex machina female. So I guess the ex machina males and other sculpts would be next.
