@Chriandra That is a wonderful idea! I love it how you decided to go with completely other direction and make the doll look like more "you" so it feels more special and personal.

 

I'll be honest, I had the head before I fell for (and oh god I fell hard and fast jfc) the man but when I looked at them I saw how similar they were I was just like... this is the perfect chance to be able to have my own version of him that I can keep close.

That might sound weird but I guess not since this is a thread mostly made up of BTS sculpted heads ahahah

 

@Chriandra It doesn't sound weird at all! My friend styled and did faceup for her Jaeii She also went for her own direction and made it look a little different.

I had planned that if Esthy releases the RM head, I would by 2: keep one at the original state and mod the other

 

It's a shame that ARMY kind of ruined it for her. I feel so bad for all the work that she and Author put in that just will never see the light of day now and all the people that were so excited to be able to bring their faves home that just can't now.

 

I really like Yunho and Changmin! But I just saw that Jay looked like Yunho. I will wait for the finished image!

 

Btw does any of you know how many copies of for example Jaeii were produced and sold? It would be interesting to know how many of them exist. A hunred or a thousand?

 

That would be interesting to know! It's always a bit of a mystery with BJDs. Unless they are limited to a specific number I feel like companies and artists often don't say anything about the number of a sculpt made. I wish they did. Not for exclusivity, but just because it's neat. But I guess maybe it could get out of hand...

That doesn't sound odd at all. I don't have a BTS sculpt, but my E-Yeon is still based on an existing character that I wanted to re-create for myself: Yuri Katsuki from the anime Yuri on Ice!!!

 

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have a Changmin too because lets be honest, they belong in a set lol. But his face is... very special and I have no idea where I would even find a base that would work for him.

@Lady Ravenswood I guess I'm just kind of worried about being seen as like silly or sad? Idk, it's something I struggle with sometimes to not be ashamed of my feelings. Hopefully I can learn and overcome it like most people in this thread have.

Ah, I understand. It can be hard. Sometimes I feel really brave about things, and sometimes I feel silly about the same exact things. But I think it's not worth it to let that stop us from liking or doing the things that really make us happy.

 

I think Jaeii is suck a perfect head for the mod! I'm sure he will turn awesome! ^^ Keep us informed!

Practical question! Do you also feel like getting wigs for DS heads is a little difficult - or is it just me?
For example, I got a SWITCH M - sized wig, and it was way too big... Even though Esthy says the heads are 7 - 8 inch on the website, I still feel like some wigs end up being too big. The head is so tiny! Which is cute, but a little troublesome. I only had a perfect match with McCurly Brokin, and I'm afraid to get anything else in case it ends up being loose...

Any tips on wigs here?

 

I'm finding wigs to be hit and miss too. The 7-8 wigs I already had were too small. I bought some msire wigs with the smaller circumference in 1/3 size off Alice's Collection. Some fit better than others despite supposedly being the the right head circumference for these DM boys. I found they were a better fit for Hwayoung than Sunho and Jaeii's heads. Whenever I order again, I'm going to try the msire MSD size wigs.

 

I ordered my boy a DF-H 65cm body today. Does anyone have one? Do you like it? It's been a little hard to find reviews and opinions on it but I might just be an idiot?

But the color that I ordered did not suit me. I fixed it with a make-up of the head)))

 

I'm glad you like it, the size match looks good (though who knows how it will look once my boy is modded lol)! I ordered it in DM color so I'm hoping the match will come out well. I assume he just fits standard sd17 clothing? His measurements were pretty much the same as a volks sd17 when I compared them.

I've ordered him with jointed hands, which I've never had before. I've played with them like once and thought they were cool so that's kind of exciting as well. They always look so nice in pictures. I'm a bit worried about getting a set then needing to have them on all my other dolls lol

Because of who he is... I bought him a little lightstick. This isn't my picture cause mine isn't here yet but it shows the scale next to a normal one. I'm hoping it's not too big/small but won't really know until both it and he gets here lol

I feel bad because I’m just not connecting with my sunho as much as I wanted to. He stays in his box 90% of the time. I’m thinking of getting him a different body and he’s going to theugliestwife next month for a faceup and just hope I connect with him better afterwards
I feel kind of guilty that I don’t love him more. Like he’s my grail but there’s no attachment

Thank you. I hope so as well. I’m not going to sell him because I’d never be able to buy him again and hope to find that spark soon. Maybe a more standard 65cm body would make me like him more. If he had clothes that fit.

 

@Smol_Chim , you have to make him YOUR Sunho !! It's in the personality you create for him. For me, it really starts with a great pair of eyes! I recommend 5/14mm....But a face-up you choose will reaaaallllyyy go a long way too.

 

I totally feel you. I have this one doll I just can't connect with. I don't know why, he is so beautiful, but still it does not happen.
I guess it's a matter of lacking concept. An idea of a personality, that is not thought through to the end. It's connected to what you do with the doll. A doll you have fully understood will inspire you and show you new things. You will spend time with this doll to explore these.
But I guess if you don't see the inspiration in him from the start it will not come with time.
At least for me it probably won't.
A connection is there from the start or never. I will probably end up selling that doll one day... Though I won't right now because he is still too new. But in the future it's probably not possible to keep him.

 

Btw. while searching for Hwayoung I found Sunho is not that rare. I was often offered a Sunho head instead (I found him three times in one week).
It frustrated me a lot... I think the sculpt is pretty but Sunho is the only DM head I'm not interested in.

 

It happens really. I've been there, a lot of us have actually I think. Sometimes even something as small as a different wig can change everything.

But if it still doesn't, don't feel bad!! Sometimes, sadly, it's just like that.

 

Dollfamily H is also nice for their custom orders!
You can request them make basically anything when it comes to colormatching. I'm ordering their 58cm girl body in 2017 Luts normal skin. So they can do spesific years too! Which is nice.

And I like how cheap the bodies are compared to some. So it is a good alternative for our DM boys

 

I ordered the 65cm boy body in 'DM Jaeii' skin. I'm hoping it comes out well and doesn't take a year lol

Whoa! It's so nice to see everyone's beautiful dolls! Haven't posted anything in this thread in a while xD My boys have been sitting on the shelf waiting for their photoshoot, but that photoshoot ain't happening anytime soon I guess, lol!

I bought some 7-8inch wigs from MSire for my DM boys and they do fit nicely. A veeery little tight but they do the job! JK's wig in the photo is a 7-8inch MSire wig

 

Just checking in to see how you guys and your dollies are! My boys mods are getting along. I guess I shouldn't be so stressed over clothing and wigs yet since even once his head gets done I'm probably still in a good wait on his body. Oh well.

Thank you!! Left to right: Monochrome, Nobility Doll, POPO, and Distant Memory . Eventually I want to get another Monochrome body in white skin. The apricot Jaeii has now is too dark. And the Nobility Doll NS is perfect, so maybe another one of those down the line too. I'll use the current bodies for other floating heads, lol.

 

I'm pretty sure I'm done with my boy and I will share pictures soon! I am even thinking of getting an Instagram for this purpose. (so, I'll follow you all when that happens haha)

@Rococo Doll Distant Memory sells their dolls on a limited bases. So far, once a doll is sold out or the ordering period over, that's it.

My boy's mods are done but I don't think that I can show pictures. I wouldn't want to offend the artist doing them and I haven't asked.

But he looks good and he looks like my baby. I honestly cried a little bit when she sent me pictures lol

I hybrid my DM head with a Volks SD17 boy body and the proportion is off. May I ask what are the body options one would have for hybrids? Any photos would be appreciated..

My Distant Memory boys use Luts Senior65 Delf body and DF-H 65cm body and they look great to me!

 

I've got a Doll Family-H 65cm body in Jaeii normal skin on order. I wanted a better matching body for my Jaeii also . My Hwayoung is on the Nobility Doll body right now and looks great I think. The color match is 95%. Sunho is on the Distant Memory white body, so no problems.

His mods are done and he's color matched. Lightlybattered says his faceup should be done in the next weekish. It's a little scary thinking that he'll be done soon. Like suddenly I'm just not ready! His body isn't done yet either so even when he gets home he'll be floating for a little bit.

Oh no. Pretty much everything on his face has been modded.

His chin has been extended, his brow/nose/underlip/jaw has all been sanded and shaped. His eyes have been partially closed. His teeth have been re-sculpted.

 

Gotcha! Can't wait to see him finished!
