Just wanted say I got my sunho head in about a week ago and he is currently off for a faceup! I think the last batch of sunho heads were supposed to be mailed out from June 6-9 (according to nobility doll). A few have even popped up on the market place here already. He really is even more gorgeous in person! So happy I snagged him right before pre-orders closed!

I know how you feel, it was really painful shipping his head off for me as well! I actually also got the Hwayoung head off the marketplace just a little while ago too, so I was able to ship them together!!

I got Sunho head long time ago but I still couldn't find a body for him. Does anyone do a hybrid? I wanna know which company will fit this head. His normal skin is quite pale with pink under tone. It's quite too hard to find him a body.

Since there arnt too many Esthy heads among owners in general, it's a little bit hard to be 100% sure of a good hybrid with various bodies, I would start with researching the bodies that match some previously released Esthy heads (like Peroth and E-yeon) there's a few threads regarding that right here on DoA! They have some great information! I have a body coming in soon that hopefully will work but I can't reccomend it until I've seen the results

I had NO idea that was another doll head! I just assumed it was the previously made hwayoung head! Wow!!!! I am super stoked for it now! I wonder when she'd release it? Maybe in mid summer? I wish I could understand the Korean on her website

 

My Sunho is sitting on the body of the boy Luts65 senior delf. I like the this body! Skitons of head and body coincide as native. The proportions are good.

Ahaha. I think that in summer it will definitely sell.
But I would not mind having one more Sunho's head. ♡

 

I second that....for some reason I want to hoard several of the same heads (which I never understood before). And I told myself no more new dolls this year

 

I also do not buy new dolls. On the contrary, I sell half of xD. I want to get someone from Distantmemory for the future. I want to Namjoon.

 

@~Hiroki~ Thank you. I'll go check Luts body for sure. May I ask about the color matching? Both of them are similar or Luts is darker with pink undertone?

@FindAlice Thank you for your suggestion. Hope you'll get a good result for doing a hybrid. I have E-yeon and Sunho head. Their resin color are slightly different. Suhno is more pinker than E-yeon. I have only Volks and Switch bodies in Normal Skin. I can say they are not match with the head. Based on the resin comparison among my floating heads. Distantmemory has the similarity with Switch (New NS) but it's a lot paler than Switch. I can't do a hybrid between Distantmemory's head and Switch body because the body has a very thick elastic cord and big s-hook. They can't go through the hole of the head. That's why I'm still looking for another alternative body. Maybe I'll a body from Distantmemory because of the problems I state above.

 

I wrote above that the skitons 100% similarity. I can show photo my Sunho if it's necessary.

 

This is great information! I was hoping that the older heads were similar in color to the newer ones, because I used that as a baseline. I already purchased a body that was close to volks normal skin unfortunately, now I'm thinking it wont be a match at all according to your analysis. I'm not too picky on resin match, but its still a disappointment after all that research! I'll post on here when I can

I might have to look into Luts bodies too if my plans don't work out, It great you already found a perfect match!

 

My Sunho is out for a face-up but before she left I compared her with several girl bodies I have on hand and it looked as if I could get a match. Luckily the head isn't as large as some boy heads, so the size itself, as long as the neck parts fit, shouldn't be a problem.

 

Wow, that sounds amazing, I never thought about making sunho a girl. I can barely imagine what she would look like, I am totally looking forward to her! Would you be so kind as to share what bodies she has matched so far? Perhaps we can cross examine multiple companies and gather more information on these lovely heads.

 

@FindAlice, I'll have to wait until I get her back. It was all kind of slapdash and I don't remember the specific results! To be honest, I had seen a "wanted to buy" post that was offering a lot for a Sunho head to the point where I was tempted to sell and make a big profit, so I wanted to make sure I did have a possible body for her before I committed to a face-up. But now I'm really looking forward to getting her back and putting everything together.

 

Oh I might have missed your post. I just read it. Thank you so much! It would be nice if you can put some pictures of the proportion or the resin matching between head and the neck. I think It would be a good references.

I can take a photo comparison to show you when I stay with my dolls. From my memory, Distantmemory (Year 2015/2016) can do a hybrid on Volks NS. But doing a hybrid between Sunho and Volks, you might see a bit different about pink and yellow undertone but I think Volks NS is better than Switch new NS anyway. So it think it should be fine. Because the artist also stated about the resin color may seems vary based on the different production time.

 

@phanuel , I also think you should put her together first and see if you fall in love! If you still decide to sell, then you could do so without feeling forced to do it ^__^
Just checked out the wanted threads, makes me feel 10000x better having purchased directly through nobility (with layaway!)
Figures I would be too broke to even get the head in one shot!

@fancat Taking photos would be so helpful!! I would love to see the comparison between volks and sunho! The more pictures the better!

When I bought Sunho's head. I thought for a very long time what body to take.
But chose LUTS and did not regret. And legs body are plump as in Jimin's. ♥

@FindAlice Hello! I've already shot some resin comparison photos. I'm sorry for a bad light. There is no sunlight at my house. So I couldn't show the color difference between Distantmemory from the year 2015-2017. It's the best I can do now. Hope these photos help you for doing a hybrid. Based on what I see today. I'll say that a Vanilla Skin from Winterrain Studio is similar to Distantmemory Normal Skin. But it has a yellow undertone while Distantmemory has a pink undertone. Both of them is pale skin. So for me, it's acceptable. Volks NS is ok but it's not pale. It's a strong yellow in my opinion.

Wow! Glad to see this thread! New to this company. Ive always wanted a bjd that looks korean and I think I have found it! Does anyone know when they release a new doll? Seems like all has been sold out.

Yes, all Distant Memory dolls as of the current moment are sold out since they are on limited order periods. So far, there is no re-sale plan for any of the sculpts (I hope they do though)

As for the new release, I guess you will have to keep an eye on announcements on DoA or other BJD sites (Nobility Doll). There is no new release plan yet as of the moment.

 

I also really hope that they will decide to re-issue ... I regret very much that I missed the sales

 

Yes, the skin with the company Luts very well matches like the color of the skin 100% good, and by proportions. The body is like a native. I finally made special photos to compare the color of the skin. I apologize for my bad english. I am ashamed.

The company unfortunately does not plan to re-issue the dolls yet. Recently, my friend even asked them this question, and made it up that they do not plan. I just know that Memory will release soon JungKook from BTS.

 

The bodies I wanted to hybrid with the heads came in yesterday, so I took pictures today! Sadly the heads are still with the face up artist for now. I did multiple comparisons when I realized I had some dolls to compare the head caps with

Some notes on the comparisons (all photos shot in umbrella lights; results were similar to daylight): The guu doll bodies looks like a pretty good match in DSLR and in iphone pictures, but in real life, the bodies are actually pinker and the head caps are more yellower, the odd thing is in all photos the head caps look a smudge pinker and the bodies yellow

Ironically, the head caps matched okay with the Doll family H normal yellow body irl (very odd), but in photos it shows up much much much yellower.

The photos with Switch and DollnDoll are accurate to real life, with the body being more yellow compared to both head caps.

Overall I like the Guu body resin match, it's more pink then I would prefer, but I'm hoping it will mellow out and match better since the Distant Memory 2016 normal head cap matches decently (80% match) irl AND in photos.
Hope this helps out the fellows out there looking for an affordable, less muscular, boyish body from a cheaper company like GUU

Hmm, hopefully the Jungkook sculpt will be available for pre-order by the end this year. I hope Esthy-nim will not stop at the maknae line (Hwayoung, Sunho, Jungkook?) and continue all the way to the hyungs. The hyung line would offer very promising sculpts ranging from elegant to edgy look

hello! I'm new to this thread and unfortunately don't own any distant memory dolls, but I do plan to buy from them in the future! (Especially if that future has *ahem* a min yoongi sculpt *ahem*) It's great to find a thread with lots of resin comparisons for this particular company as well! I'll keep following this thread ^^ thank you to everyone who has taken the time to take pictures of the comparisons~

 

Master laid out a photo where she finished the head of Jimin and there is a second head (which is very similar to JungKook) I think she wants to release it. When she showed V head, she also showed Jimin's head ...

My boys are finally home! I took some quick pictures, the wigs are not quite what i'm looking for, I'm going to have to shop around for some that will suit them better. The eyes are also temporary, I'm thinking to give them both smaller dark brown eyes instead. But for now it will work! In photos the resin match is excellent, I have not edited any of the photos at all, I am very pleased with this hybrid. Feel free to ask any questions about them!
