Hey everyone! Just popping in to say those looking for further hybrid options, maybe give Day Dream a look! After 6 months I finally received my Little Prince body from them and it looks FANTASTIC with my Larina head! I think their taller bodies have similar measurements (just more leg and torso), so you have quite a few choices. Just a warning though, the resin match is quite awful, so you'd either have to dye or heavily blush the head to match. But for short body options they're definitely worth a look.

Did Day Dream used to be called Blue Fairy? I see in their About page that they're associated with Minoruworld.

 

I bought a Dim Larina with a Doll Leaves body second hand. A very popular hybrid i think. And I am curious why are there so many hybrids? Are the dim bodies that bad?

 

I think lately it's been difficult to get ahold of them, as they've been selling the heads but not bodies. Some people didn't like the hands on some of the DIM bodies because it made it very difficult to dress them (the fingers are splayed rather wide). I know of one person that kept the body and just replaced the hands with jointed ones from a different company.

Personally, I would have hybrided because I'm aware the Dollzone bodies match the color and I really loved the B45-017 DZ body and wanted a doll with it, but I didn't particularly fall in love with any of those head sculpts.

My Laia's body arrived much sooner than I expected, so I took some quick photos of her all put together today. Meet Briar!



She's a modded Laia, with a faceup by Eludys

 

Dew_drops, she's beautiful. So pale, but realistic.

I think the bodies look pretty but aren't very well-engineered. I had a DIM tiny who couldn't even stand or sit. Some people make them work with modding, sueding, stringing or wiring; some people just want a pretty doll and don't care how poseable she is; and some people take advantage of the amazing versatility of these sculpts by hybriding them with a variety of other bodies.

I wish I'd thought to order hands to go with my two heads, since I think their hands are nearly as beautiful as their head sculpts; but alas, I'll have to make do with whatever hands come with the bodies I get for them.

I think for me the DIM bodies just didn't seem aesthetically quite right for the face sculpts that I wanted, the exception being maybe the GSE body.

And, omg, @thessalyrose now that you say that... they do have beautiful hands. I wish I could order a pair because I really don't like the Doll Leaves hands.

I ordered a DIM Flowne back in November and she arrived on Friday. She is a re-shelled version of my character Nova.

I am excited to give her a face up when the weather is better and will be changing her wig for a strawberry blond one in the near future. I may also be sanding down her bust, it is a little too big for me to handle haha!
I look forward to chatting with you all!

 

Man, still waiting on my Larina head. It hasn't been that long so I know I'm being impatient, but alas. Anyway, I've got lots of plans already for her look as far as her hair and face-up. I'm like 98% sure she's gonna need a custom alpaca wig in order for me to be satisfied with her, though, ugh. So expensive. I've got plans for her styling, also, but I don't know if it's gonna be super difficult to find clothes for that Dollzone body. Hm...

 

Which Dollzone body are you getting? Jeeryama has them on sale on eBay. I'm working up the nerve to snag one. I've been saving for almost two years for an SD, but I've only got enough for an MSD (it's been a rough couple of years) and that sale price will make my whole hybrid about the same as buying a complete doll.

 

I'm getting the B45-017. I already ordered it from dollzone, though :/ so I won't be able to get that deal, dang. Which do you think you're interested in?

 

The same one. I'm kind of in love with it. I's like all the qualities I like in Doll Chateau but more realistic. I'm a little worried Miru will be too big for the body, because the shoulders look narrow, but I'm willing to risk it.

Actually, I have two DIM heads and I was thinking about getting the B45-012 (or 014, whichever one is the female one) for the other one. But I can only afford one now so I will order the more expensive one since it's more of a discount. I might decide to get a Loongsoul body for the other head anyway -- I was going to get Wanwan but she seems to be sold out, so I may settle for the body and put my Luria on it.

I seem to have a steady job now, so here's hoping it doesn't take another two years to save up for another body....

I ordered a DIM Flowne from the marketplace. She has the old GSE body and damn does she pose like a champ.

 

I'm considering a DIM/DC hybrid.
Doll Chateau changed their resin color last year, so I'm not sure what will be a good match now. All the images I've seen are from before the change. Can anyone help me please?

DIM girl arrived on Monday, but I shipped her out to get a face-up without even taking any pictures. Now I've got to be on the look out for wig for her. I just got a custom one made for one of my other dolls, and I'm considering commissioning this person again. But it was rather expensive, hm...

I'm still figuring out her character, but I know she is the only (living) child of a fisherman from Scotland and his selkie wife. I know some details of their family life and early childhood incidents, but not much else. I'm still trying to place the story in the right time period (Somewhere in the late 1500s through the mid 1600s) so I can figure out some appropriate names for the time period.

 

Does anyone know what matches DIM doll tan? I wish they did Flowne or Ace in tan!

 

Oh that all sounds so interesting! And I love her dress, also. What kind of coloring do you think her face up will have?

As far as DIM girl, I bit the bullet and commissioned a wig for her, lol.

 

My Larina’s Face up is almost finished. Of course, I’ll still be waiting on her body for probably a couple more months unless Dollzone surprises me.

I found the perfect eyes for her, too...except they are Oscar Doll and sold out from the site *cries* I’ve been scouring the sale tags on Instagram looking for any. They were in the “real eyes” section. Course, don’t go looking unless you want your heart broken too, lol.

I saw that a few heads were on sale as well. I was hoping to get Annabeth and saw that her page says "available soon," so hopefully they'll release her too.

The resin match is good (DIM normal + MYOU Doll normal pink), proportionswise I am not sure, she is quite big (44 cm), but the head has a very good fit.

 

What excellent combination!
Today I bought the head Violeta and a Happy body kit. In the future I want to buy a body MYOU doll. I like proportions.

My Harlech boy got a new outfit. Unfortunately after so many years the msc in his faceup is starting to ghost over, Not sure how to fix it without removing the dye too Hes still cute though.

Cydril, one of my dolls is dyed, though not as intensely as yours, and when I was doing her faceup, I didn't know any better, so I wiped it and redid it about four times, and although her head is somewhat lighter than her body, its not that bad.

Nufa, that is an awesome hybrid. The resin match is really good, and I think the proportions are fantastic.

I wonder if the bodies being available again means we can get hands? The only thing I would change about that Myou hybrid is to use the more detailed DIM hands, if possible.

Hey everyone!
I am going to be the proud owner of a Flowne elf soon. I think her head is quite a bit bigger than my other dolls, so I think I might make her a stand-alone kind of thing; the rest of my dolls are high & dark fantasy themed, and I think my Flowne will be my "break" from that - I think I'll use her for more cute and/or casual clothing and stuff that I wouldn't usually dress my other dolls in, but stuff that I still like. I might get her some pretty, sparkly eyes too, and I am thinking I will probably get her a black or dark brown wig of some sort.

Speaking of eye size, though, for anyone who has a Flowne - what size do you prefer in her?

I assume she probably takes low domes but beyond that, I'm kind of at a loss. It seems to be around 12-14mm? But the website didn't really give me any information for it. >>; She'll be sent out Monday so she should arrive sometime next week but I'd like to keep a look out for eyes for the time being, just in case I find something I like in the right size.

Tick tick, tick tock. Still waiting on the wig and body for Vee, poor little floating head that she is. DZ is sure taking their time, though I expected as much when I placed the order back at the beginning of January. I just want to take pictures of her and my Lulu (DC Bella) together so badly! And I’ve got PLANS for how cute I’m gonna dress her, lol.

 

I finished my Benetia's face-up and hand blushing today! Her name is Claris. I'll put the pic under a spoiler because there's minor gore (blood, she's a vampire after all).

I made her eyes, and I modded her too (opened up the eyes. It wasn't the sleeping sculpt, I just like super alert big eyes on my more stylised dolls). She has hands from Angel of Dream. She's the most spontaneous unplanned doll I own!

 

I'm new to this thread! I recently was gifted a DiM Gayane on the Glamorous body. I'm in the process of modding her body to be able to sit up straight for it bothers me. She was a friend's first doll, and she gifted her to me before my big move last year. I finally got her back from the US, but without her head cap. I made her a new one out of fimo and magnets so she can wear wigs.


Her name is Autumn!

 

Congrats with being gifted your pretty girl. And yes that body is a bit annoying isn't it? I am very curious to see how you'll mod her and what you would recommend (or not) for the rest of us. I too have the body and the wish to mod it. Just haven't gotten around to doing it (there are 5 SD70 boys that have demanded that I will make them clothes first.) But I should be able to get to her early this summer

 

Thank you! And yes, the body is... janky at best. I've so far elongated her elastic slots in her thighs and she can sit up a bit better, but she's so top heavy she rocks back again. So next I will hollow out her hip sockets/butt area so she can sit on her legs!

 

Lol - it is usually a question of allowing the elastic to take the straightest/shortest route, for that is what it will do naturally. What actually annoys me most is her chest joint. I want to change the shape so she can hold a nice slouch and not heel over backwards. - but do not know exactly how yet how to form the joint.

There is a tutorial for modding a Love body somewhere on Deviant art - if I remember correctly she did a similar thing for her chestjoint. I'll have to look it up

 

I have had a look at Lucinda on the glam body and she sits fine as long as I make her slouch. But then her upper body turns sideways. I think I want a stop in her upper thighjoint so she will lean forward a bit more - and that will likely need a bit longer slots too? I can see why you would want to place her legs futher ba k in the buttocks, but I doubt I could get those sockets nice and even rounded inside.
I found the DIM love body modification tutorial again and think I will follow that on the chest joint. Her knees and arms also need work, and perhaps the channel in her neck? The heads wants to sit straight up or look up now, no looking down possible due to the elastic channel

 

I think adding notches to the back would help keep a nice slouch for the body. I have a dremel with some round sanding bits so I'm gonna use those to hollow her out in the hip sockets. And adding locks inside the thighs would be a good idea too... hmm... she's truly a project doll for me!

 

Hey everyone! Sorry to pop in with questions, but you guys are so knowledgeable when it comes to hybriding these lovely heads I thought it couldn't hurt to ask (also, can anyone link me to the hybrid specific thread for DiM heads? I can't seem to find it!)

Does anyone possibly know if the Dika Doll 46cm boy head is a good match? Specifically I'm looking to match my Alpon head, but as that doesn't seem to be a popular sculpt I think he's similar in size to the bigger-headed sculpts like Ace and Jullis. I'm mostly looking for proportions since I'll be dyeing him.

Also looking for any suggestions for a 44-45cm boy body for an Annabeth head! I'm very partial to the Legend Doll body, but I'm very nervous it won't look nice.

 

@InkyBear I just bought myself an Annabeth head as well from the doa marketplace and am researching for boy bodies. Apparently Doll leaves is a very good resin match, as is loongsoul. I'd love to hear about what hybrids others have made with boy bodies as well!

 

Ooh, good luck on your Annabeth boy! Yup, I already have a Doll Leaves boy for my Larina head Also, for those interested, Ringdoll is a pretty good match as well, which I have my Laia head on. My other Sleepy Larina head is on the Day Dream Little Prince body, and while the proportions are wonderful, the resin match is awful. Still, might be worth looking into for anyone who likes their aesthetic and plans to dye.

Mine is on a fantasydoll msd boy body. He also looks good a souldoll Vito body if you want him taller and I have always loved the twins on the DC boy bodies that someone had a couple of years ago. Resinmatches? I'll blush the head.
