Since this post ended up on a new page: This is the email Doll In Mind sent out today 16th May 2022! One final chance to order three DiM heads.

The email came from Denny's usual email. The one they sent newsletters from. Here's the contents:

So Flowne, Larina, and Laia are options. Not really sure whether we get the options of open and sleepy eyes as such, but I have sent an email asking.

I'm in the UK, is anybody wanting to do a UK group order?

I had hoped Annabeth would be an option, but I could always ask him once I get the contact ! Thanks a lot for sharing this news.

@Shin__ I’m going to DM, since I don’t know if it’s okay for me to provide the email in case the sculptor gets inundated and stressed from requests, when it’s already very generous as it is to open this order period after essentially retiring. You can always update this thread with the response and address if Denny gives permission!

 

Oh wow! I'd love more DIM sculpts. I adore them.
I regret I didn't grab Ace and Julian when I had the chance.

I'd be up for a group order. Laia is cute.

 

@nattherat this might be a weird question but if you're in contact with denny, would you mind asking him if he still has all the promotional images for all the sculpts? i'd be really interested in them for archival purposes! a lot of the original promotional images for the less popular dim sculpts are either hard to find or gone off the internet with the shuttering of the website.

also, it might be worth asking him if you can post it to the news page on doa, i'm sure there's a lot of people who don't check this thread who would be interested in ordering! especially if they're open to requests for other sculpts if they get enough interest. i think there would probably be a good amount of interest in ace and jullis, specifically

 

@mangameow I will see what his response is to my current email before anything else. There’s another part of his email that I didn’t paste here, that was kind of about retirement/having moved on, so the very last thing I want to do is bombard him with requests for the whole catalogue. Since DIM has been officially closed (rather than just vaguely closing down) for a couple years now, I don’t want to jeopardise this opportunity. It’s fantastic that he is even offering these heads at all.

But if he is amenable, then yes, I will ask! I miss those promotional photos too, I can’t believe how easily official records of DIM dolls were swept off the internet.

 

yeah, that's reasonable! i wouldn't want to push him or anything, i honestly can't believe he's doing one last round this far out in the first place, it's really nice of him. i hope his retirement is going well!

 

Oh! I am one who would be interested in Jullis if he makes another run of them. Managed to snag Ace during the final sale but Jullis was just out of stock I'd love to have them both. I also kept their promo photo sets, but sadly only of Ace and Jullis.

 

I'm in Aus so can't take part in the group order, but would definitely be interested in contacting him for an open eyed Laia if she'll be available

 

It’s worth remembering that all of this is subject to a minimum order amount, and previous minimum amounts have been 25pcs. That sucks to say but I feel like it should be said to keep expectations realistic.

Anyway, news: Denny replied to me and the Laia head being offered is the half-closed eye version! I have asked if the open-eye one is available too (@sugarstitch ), and whether additional heads like Jullis and Ace (@mangameow @crowtree ) might be possible to order too.

@deathdoll I’ll update this thread as soon as I get a reply from Denny. I wouldn’t count on it, I believe these three heads were chosen for popularity, but I’ll relay his decision as soon as I find out about it.

The answer to 2 is likely disappointing, but not unexpected. You can try emailing to place an order, if you are lucky it might be possible.

 

Darn, I was hoping for open Laia, but I'll take what I can get. Maybe I could try modding the lips and eyes. Would I be able to get Denny's email so I can contact him please?

 

@sugarstitch I’ve seen someone else do that before so it is definitely possible!

I am still worried about handing out emails, but since it was already posted on the front page of DOA and 25pcs is actually a somewhat high number to meet, I guess the floodgate is kind of open now.

Here’s the email for everyone, please only ask for what Denny has agreed to do and don’t bug him if he says there isn’t enough interest in a particular head to do it!

O wow I’m so glad Denny opening orders for some of these dolls I know these 3 seem to be the only option- would there be any SD sized heads he’d do (I would love a Terrence ) Hmm I wonder if it would be more efficient if someone opened a group order to see if we can meet the minimum of these heads? I’ll commit to buying a Julius or Annabeth and Laia and maybe Latina if there are enough people

I did, but they haven’t archived the full MSD head photoshoots as far as I can tell. Only really the small thumbnails of the heads.

I’ll still ask Denny about them, but I want to pace my questions a bit so I am not bothering him too much!

 

Ahh I see- I hope he still has them then to share i haven’t asked Denny anything yet perhaps later tonight (if no one is opening a US order I’ll probably open a US then) I see in Discussion there are a few others interested in Julius- I would be interested in getting him as well- maybe I’ll put Julius as a “Feeler” to see if there are more who would like to get him.

 

I have too busy a life to run a group order, but I volunteer to join a US GO if we manage to get enough people for Annabeth. I have my concerns about the numbers on that one. I already have a Larina or I'd hop in there too.

 

Sweet! I’m not the best at organization but since it’s a possibly the last time DIM will do a rerelease, I think I can host it. I’ll wait till later tonight to see if anyone wants to step up, otherwise I’ll open it up. I’ll add Annabeth as a feeler (and I’ll commit to one as well ) since the UK GO has at least 2 interested in an Annabeth.

 

DIM GO solidarity haha! If we manage to drum up a good number of heads between us, Denny might feel okay with casting more. I have opened up the UK to all sculpts as long as folk understand it’s up to Denny in the end. We can but ask!

To stay on topic, I have replied to Denny asking if there’s a cut-off date for orders.

 

Heck yea o awesome, then I will do the same (I guess I’ll open a US GO ) with a focus on the 3 that was in Denny’s announcement. When you say all do you mean sculpts of all sizes or just in the DIM mini line? Also, can I use your GO post as a template? (it’ll be tailored for US). I haven’t received Denny’s email about the re-release (even though I ordered from him before ) so I’ll wait for all the info from you before coming to him with questions.

 

I haven’t technically specified, but yeah I do think Happy (MSD) sized only! Denny did not open other sizes the final few group orders, so I highly doubt they will be available this time. I definitely don’t want to end up amassing an order for a bunch of the 1/6 heads that it doesn’t seem he has any interest in revisiting. The other heads are probably too niche compared to the msd line, and as I have said before, I definitely don’t want to disrespect him/this opportunity. That’s my take on it anyway!

Also, yes it’s fine to use mine as a template! In fact actually, please DM me the link when you are done, we could link each other’s at the bottom of the posts in case somebody in the wrong region stumbles across one and needs the other!

As before, I’ll update this thread as soon as I get a reply from Denny with more info.

I'm looking to get one of each the heads. I'm wondering if your US GO would be open for Canadians or should I just go through Denny directly?

 

I’ve never done a GO to include Canada- I’m just trying to get a feel of how much shipping from USA to Canada would be and it’s upwards of $27(I think I’m searching correctly). I don’t know how much shipping from Denny to Canada is- if you can ask Denny and it turns out its more expensive than US, I’d say yes join the US GO. If it’s the same as US, I’d probably order directly from Denny then. You might be paying a little more in shipping but you’ll get your heads sooner and instead of paying the shipping to us+shipping out of US I think this sounds about right

For those that want photos, I've went and scraped the (MSD) shoots I can find from Wayback Machine, and put them all in an Imgur album here. Sadly there are tons missing.

Sculpts I was able to grab larger photos of are: Ace, Benetia (open, half-closed), Bryony, Jullis, Laia (half-closed), Larina (open), Luria, Marianne (open and sleeping), and Odelia (open, half-sleeping, renewal?). (edit: actually, found and added some more!)

Likely more photoshoots, both of different sizes and of older sculpts, are able to be found too, but this is what I found for now. I figured I'd chuck them into an album together so you can all go grab your faves/take a local copy if you want!

I still hope to ask Denny when it's appropriate, but here's some stuff in the meantime.

Long time DIM fan here! I haven't been very active on DOA, I took a long break from the hobby but recently returned to it. I also received Denny's email and have been communicating with him, I am running a group order for people in the US.

This is my first time running a group order so I'm nervous, but I want to help folks who are interested! I started out asking people on Instagram but I am going to make an official group order post here on DOA for those who want to join.

This is very exciting! DIM was always my favorite company and in all these years there's never been another company that was quite like it for me

Hi guys! I wanna join the US GO but I just realized I might not be able to because I don't have access to the marketplace yet. Is there a way for me to join or should I just go ahead and place an order by myself :P (Noob question)

 

Popping in to confirm that orders need a minimum of 25 PER head, as per Denny's reply to me asking him about Annabeth, he also mentioned the mold for Annabeth was damaged but that he was willing to fix it if enough orders were made for her, so I imagine other sculpts are definitely doable as well as long as we get enough people interested.

I think we are very lucky that he is willing to do such work one last time ;( I really hope I can get this sculpt home for her last ride.
I believe spreading the word on as many platforms as possible is our best bet (IG, DoA, FB, Discords, local forums, etc.)

@Shin__ If things get down to the wire and we're close, I'll be willing to order two. Maybe even three. I'm considering that anyway because yknow, it's her last run, she's one of my favorite sculpts, and DIM heads are fairly inexpensive.

25 is a LOT and I am mildly overwhelmed but man, I want an Annabeth...!!

Anyway, I'm waiting to blast everything on my insta (it doesn't get a lot of traffic, but I am loud) whenever we get an end order date.

 

@staghaus That is why I have committed to ordering 2 already, to boost our chances. She has been a grail of mine for years and I know she's not well liked so the likelihood of seeing her again is rare

I got another reply from Denny, though it doesn't actually contain the answer to my last question (about order deadlines), so hopefully he'll send another. He did however say that actually he has some old heads in stock and he's going to check and tell me what they are next week. That sounds like it would be heads other than the three being offered.

 

And a double-post!

A little alarming, but Denny has confirmed we have only until the end of May to place orders.

yay there is hope but even if he cannot, still super grateful to get a Larina and Flowne

 

I wonder if he realised just how many people would be so excited and asking after his sculpts! I really hope this is a positive experience for him!
