DiM (Doll in Mind) Mini Discussion Part 5

I am expecting an Myou v1 body for my Luria head in December. I'll let you know about skin match, etc., when she gets here.

My Miru is on a Loongsoul v3 body, which is very curvy and lovely, and a great match. I have the small bust, but there's a larger one available. The only thing is that the hook that came with the body didn't fit into Miru's head, so I had to get a new one.

 

What color is your loongsoul body, if I may ask? I've been considering it for another hybrid, but I've been a bit confused on the loongsoul colors since it seems they're all "imported" resin colors now, and it's been hard finding resin comparisons!

 

It's normal pink urethane resin. I ordered from Alice's Collections and requested the urethane type. This was in 2019, so I would think it's still available, even though the environmental resin seems to be the default now.

 

I just bought a Larina head secondhand, and she shipped today! I can't wait for her to arrive.

I wanted either her head or Laia's head to shell my girl, and this cutie popped up at just the right time. I'm gonna hybrid her and dye her. But I'm super nervous about the dying process...

 

Hi! I'm quite new here, and this question maybe have been asked like hundred times, but I need your help

I bought Ace head quite a while (I think around the company announced that they will stop selling) and now he's still a floating head without body.

So, does anyone has any recommendations? I like body with a bit buff but not as much as model delf body type 2 or 3.

 

I think is it charm doll? have a pretty nice buff looking body, it's sorta toned but not stacked. v1 body I believe it is.
DFH also have a really toned body but i'm not sure how tall it is and whether the proportions would work.

there's also resinsoul's tang body who's muscular and fairly tall.

and the slender model delf body but he has pretty chunky legs doesn't he? hahaha.

My Myou body arrived earlier than I expected! She's got beautiful curves. I was mistaken before; she's actually the version 2 body with a small bust. The head fits perfectly. The only problem is I got the pink skin and it's... really... REALLY pink. DIM resin is pink but very pale, so the match isn't good. I'm not worried though; I was planning to dye a couple of other dolls soon so I'll just toss this head in with them if I can't blush it close enough. If I did it again, though, I'd probably get the body in white.

Her name is Lux and she's the preteen daughter of a family of supermodels.

My Charm Doll body arrived today! I was too eager and didn't take a picture of the doll undressed so you could see the whole hybrid, but I'll be sure to do that later when I disassemble him for dyeing. However you can slightly see in the below image that the two white resins don't match at all. Which is fine for me personally, I am familiar with how paper white Loongsoul is.


Here's a super grainy (sorry!) picture of mine! Benetia on the left, and Jullis in the middle (the one on the right is an original sculpt I made myself after getting annoyed with the second-hand market prices for Larina/Laias earlier in this thread haha. I have actually since seen them for reasonable prices again, but it's too late now, I made my own design!).

I'm very glad to have my own small collection of MSDs complete! I'm not sure when I'll be dyeing Jullis, but hopefully soon.

 

So nice to see your little gang! Your original sculpt looks like she fits right in. I look forward to seeing your hybrid pictures. I always wanted a Jullis but when I had the money, it was Ace who showed up for sale at the right price so that's who I ended up with.

Once I get Luria painted, I can take a picture with my DIM gang! That'll be so cool. I never thought I'd have more than one DIM kid, even though I love almost all of them.

@thessalyrose Thank you! I designed her specifically to have facial proportions that matched the DiM sculpts, so she could fit in, but with some of my own style thrown in so I wasn't making some kind of knock-off DiM.

Here's that hybrid picture I promised:

DiM Jullis on Charm Doll boy body v2, both in white skin. It's possible my Jullis may be a little yellowed since I don't know how long he sat at the company before I bought him, but even if he were, I think it'd be safe to say you wouldn't get a resin match out of these. Charm Doll white is paper white.
The body is absolutely stunning, and poses amazingly which is to be expected when it comes to Loongsoul's engineering. I like the ratio to the head, it's in-keeping with my Benetia/Doll Leaves hybrid. My one complaint with the body is one that is extremely easily fixed and not actually an issue; just that it arrived strung so tightly! It's going to be a pain to pull parts far away enough from the body to get them unhooked and disassemble him!

 

@nattherat - Does this body sit at 90 degrees or does it lean back when sitting?

 

@xyuemoto Just checked for you: When nude, it sits exactly 90 degrees. If the clothes it is wearing are thick and bunch up around the hips, they will interfere with that and the doll will lean back slightly.

A friend of mine has bought a Benetia and is looking for advice for a body. Does someone have a Benetia hybrid and can help, please?
I've seen different solutions here, but what is the best in color and neck match?
I personnaly like quite much the loongsoul girl body shown by @thessalyrose, but the DC and DZ hybrids I've seen are quite good too.

 

@Follow-the-Wind There's no "best" really, just personal preference! Every solution you've seen on this thread is pretty much each excellent in their own way. It all depends on what is desired in terms of aesthetic and posing.

Very grainy picture and no face-up for now but I dyed my Jullis! Rit Dyemore, a mixture of a few different colours.



It's gonna be a while before I actually have time to do any painting, but that's fine. The clothes I ordered for them won't arrive for ages either!

 

@nattherat he looks amazing! DiM resin is the BEST for dyeing. I swear it takes dye better than any other companies.

The Dollzone body is a popular choice. But I personally prefer the DKD-B body, in terms of proportion. They both look great though!

 

I agree, I really love the chunkier proportions of the DKD body, I mean it's expensive but it's such a nicely sculpted thing.

 

Hello guys.
I bought 3 DIM heads, via email last year, directly from DIM's Denny.
At the time, he was unable to send them to my country, so I asked him to keep them until he could send them. This was in May 2020.
I've been trying to contact him by email and facebook for 3 weeks but I don't get a response. I understand that we live in a very complicated time but I am a little nervous about not having an answer or paypal protection.

Is anyone in the same situation? waiting for Dim heads, directly from the company or without an answer?

 

I emailed recently just about general info because I wanted to see if he would allow me to host a group order but I’ve had no response so maybe he just hasn’t seen the emails yet.

 

I would definitely reach out to PayPal though if you don’t hear anything within a month they can clearly see it hasn’t shipped even if it’s past the date so they should be able to at least open a case /or contact him.

 

Ooh, that's interesting, if you do get an answer, will you open the GO to other people somewhere ?

I will follow your advice, wait another month and if he doesn't say anything try to ask for help to paypal. But I don't know if they can do anything since my protection is over.

 

They may be able too since he never provided a tracking it would count as unfulfilled if anything maybe they can reach out to him on your behalf.

Hi all, just popping in to show off my Miru. I'm so in love with this girl. She's my favorite doll, although my Luria has eyes and a body now and will be getting a faceup soon, so she might provide some competition.

My Miru's name is Elena. I did her faceup, made her eyes from UV resin, styled her tibetan lamb wig and sewed her top. Her headband is one of those fancy elastic things they sell for hair ties.

 

Ooo An oppertunity to order more DIM heads would be neat. Sadly so many of them were so nice and I lust after them lol.

 

I also emailed DIM, about whether they will restock the flowne elf heads again and haven't received a reply even though it's been a few weeks. I even checked my junk mail. I've been wanting one for a while and it always says, "available soon", but it never comes back into stock. Has the company gone m.i.a.?

 

They closed 2 years ago, they sometimes take big group orders but that's pretty much about it.

 

A few months ago I bought My first two MSD heads. A Flowne normal skin head and a Jullis in white skin head and I'm not sure what bodies will work best proportion wise. The resin match should be close, but doesn't have to be perfect. I was thinking either Doll Leaves or Doll Zone.

For Flowne I'm thinking of either
Leaves 43cm Girl Body Ver.I (S Bust)
or
DZ 44cm Girl Body (B45-017)

For Jullis
Leaves 43cm Boy Body Ver.II
or
DZ 45cm Boy Body (B45-014)

Does it matter or should I just pick whichever one?
Would slim msd clothes be too small for those girl bodies?

 

Some of the DIM heads are pretty huge, Jullius and Ace I think have fairly bulky heads but i don't have either of them to try on a ds body for you i'm afraid. I have an annabeth on a DS type 2 body and it looks okay, his head is a bit large but no more so than my other msd dolls.

The girl body is taller but quite slender, mine is wearing just whatever msd clothing I happened to have (lol) but it's the same size as the stuff I use for my resinsouls and so on and they're also "slim msd" right? The website should have measurements which you could compare to the dolls slim line stuff is modelled on?

I know people have done both doll leaves and doll zone for hybrids, but as always it's finding those exact combinations that's a pain.

 

I don't have a version 1 body, but I have version 2's. Here's normal skin Flowne on a normal skin Doll Leaves version 2 with L bust that I got this year. The skintone for the head is slightly darker than the body, but it doesn't bother me. For comparison is my DL Amara in white skin, version 2 with S bust. Honestly, the size difference between S and L busts aren't that different, and the DL L bust could be considered a regular bust for other companies, imo.

Hope this helps some. The same comparison goes for the white skin. Both companies have a creamier white that's not white-white... I don't have a Jullis or WS boy body, but I have a WS Benetia that I could compare.

Sorry for the silly question, what is DS? I'm still looking for a body for my Annabeth. I need a boy body but a lot of the MSD ones seem very slim.

 

Doll Leaves, they go by "ds" for short because some other company is "dl" (doll love maybe?)

 

Here's Meriel on the Myou white skin body, I believe it's the second version, the one with the wider hips. Perfect fit.

 

Finally finished my Flowne with my lovely roomie's help last week! This is Constellation! I still need to really bust out a proper wardrobe for her but I am SO THRILLED to have her done! She's on a Dollits DKD body!

 

I love her! I always wanted a Meriel, but she was discontinued so soon I missed her. I love the pink hair on yours.

I have my Luria on an Myou version 2 body, and I agree she's a good fit. She's much bigger than my other two msds! Finding clothes isn't really an issue because I sew for them myself, but it is annoying that I have to make all new patterns for her. I am thinking about replacing her body with the Version 3 because she was supposed to be skinny. I was going to get that one in the first place but I chickened out at the last minute because Luria's face is so wide I was afraid it'd look weird. I should have gone with my original plan. Ah well, I'll make it work.

I sew for my dolls as well, I made Mariel's outfit except the long sleeve shirt, that was gifted with a doll I bought here on DoA. I think Larina would do better on the skinnier body, only because I had my Larina head on the body but this body is more suited for a bigger head like Meriel. It was cute with Larina on it though, I’d have kept her like that but since I got Meriel with the regular Dimdoll body, I put Larina on Meriel’s body and Merial on this one.

 

That is a perfect body for her, how adorable! Is it yellowing at all? I know my Myou one is changing colors slowly, I’ve had it a few years but never near uv. It’s always been in a dark covered cabinet in a darkroom.

 

hii! not sure if this has been answered already but i just bought a dim benetia head secondhand and i was wondering what resin color would work best hybriding with a doll chateau body? theres one in stock on denver doll and its in peach skin but im not sure if that would match.

 

It took a while but Garret and Ambrose's final outfit pieces finally arrived!
Which means they finally get photos! lol.

Garret (Gayane) is on a Doll Leaves body while Ambrose (Annabeth) is on a DFH body.

I still have a Larina head I haven't worked out what i'm gonna do with yet. I feel kinda bad.

I've only had the Loongsoul body for about a year, and so far no yellowing. I did spray it with Model Masters sealant, and I don't remember if that's UV protectant or not. Probably not. But yes, I love her. She might be my favorite doll at the moment (don't tell any of the others!).

 

Anyone just get the email from DIM about one last order?

I am unbelievably excited! After watching the second hand prices for these heads rise to stupid levels, I am so glad there is one last chance to buy them at the original price and support the creator.

I’m interested in Laia I think. Anyone else trying for a head?
