Shipping Delaying of shipping because of the coronavirus

Mar 18, 2020

    1. Hello all,

Is anyone here also dealing with the shipping problems, especially inside US? I have one package going into US (a doll), and one out of US. The most important is the one goes in. The package was sent on 14th of March, before all restrictions, and now I read on our EMS and Post site that the packages will not be sent to US from 18th of March and onward for one month. I guess mine was gone, but does the post work in US now? Is it slower now? I live in Europe but not EU, and the restrictions about posting never touched us.

P.S Forgot to say that I'm using EMS, not the 1st class.

    2. I live in the US and there are no plans (from my knowledge) of the post shutting down. It, along with grocery stores and gas stations and a few other places are considered “necessities” for now and will continue operations.

I got a package today a day early than it’s predicted date, and I got another in expected time as well, so I would not say it’s going slower. This is my own experience, though.

    3. I live in the US, California to be more precise, and I'm still receiving mail. The package could just be stuck somewhere and just needs a couple days before it begins moving again. Hopefully the doll makes it to it's destination safely.

    4. That's great news! I feel better now since I sold the doll and I really want it to arrive to the bew owner! Tracking is silent though... hope it will arrive on time.

:D *a sigh of relief* thanks, I feel safer now! I'm hope it will too!

    5. Things might be slowed, but mail is still being delivered. I have something that seems to be stuck in customs, no updates on the tracking since the second of March.

    6. Is this ISC in NY? I have a BJD that has been in Customs since March 6th with no updates. Siiiigh.

This was EMS from China that was mailed a month ago. -__-

    7. @honeyedbiscuit Yes, it says it processed through there then it has just sat there since according to the tracking. I had another package come from the same place in Russia and it was processed through in NY and then didn't update until "delivery was attempted" so they also may not be diligently scanning and checking in packages. I also heard that medical supplies are getting priority, which is good, but explains why some things are slow moving.

    8. My tracking isnt updated since 14th of March -when it was said it left to destination country. I wont be surprised that it will show up only after delivery >_<

    9. Volks USA has posted on facebook that per California's safe at home rules they are closing as of today 3/20 and orders placed henceforth will be shipped (hopefully) after 4/19.

    10. The package is now in US! WHEEEW, I can breath :D usual 3 days for EMS were turned into 7, so this is I guess the "normal" speed for EMS in our not normal situation at all.

    11. At this time, shipping is super delayed in the US but according to the local post office packages to/from international addresses are still being accepted/delivered it just may take quite a while as the large majority of flights have been cancelled and many areas are operating on essentially a skeleton crew for safety reasons.

    12. I'm gonna chime in with my Legenddoll order that was shipped (EMS) the 7th of March. No new updates since. So from China there is a delay.
But within the EU things seems to work as normal, in my experience.

Edit: is now in customs as of March 23

    13. I had a shipment from Russia that went through pretty quickly, but my parcel that's still sitting in ISC NY hasn't moved. It was sent via EMS from China, which is slow, but normally not this slow (but understandable given the situation). That said, the package has been in transit since mid-February. My parcels from Singapore and Russia have cleared through ISC within a couple of days, but this one eludes me. I guess waiting is all we can do!

    14. Yes we will just have to wait.

    15. I had a EMS package from South Korea to US take about a week, and it wasn't updated at all locations like people were forgetting to scan things so it's possible things are moving but being neglected to be scanned. It never updated from customs until it was scanned as delivered this was between March 12-17th an it had gone through Chicago.

    16. I figured I would post an update on my package that was mailed from China around mid-February and was sitting in ISC in NY since March 6. It's now moved onto the Foreign Center Jersey City facility, which is the first time a parcel I've had has ever gone through there. I am guessing they are really backlogged.

    17. I'm not in the US but I expect post everywhere is going to be very backlogged soon. Borders are closed here and Crobidoll are holding onto an order for me because my country has stopped accepting any shipments from overseas completely. I have another package in limbo so I'm not sure where that one is at all but it was on the way from the UK to NZ.

    18. I had a mishap with one of my SOOM dolls (I lost a part) and asked SOOM if I could order a replacement, they said yes. This was a couple months ago, and now the replacement part is ready to ship. It was originally going to be shipped via Air Mail, but SOOM decided to mail it via EMS without extra cost. I was told it could take up to a month due to shipping delays etc. I’m glad, but I wish they would have asked me, I would have opted to wait. It’s just some tiny little parts, not worth EMS prices! Thank you SOOM, I know you really care about your customers!

    19. I'm from the Netherlands, not the US, but I do have two dolls stuck in transit atm>.<. One is coming from Japan by Fedex, that usually takes 2-4 days, but dollie got stuck in Japan for 4 days and is now hanging out in Belgium, no delivery date yet. The other doll is in my country, most likely even in my city. He came from China (bought through Jeeryama) and took two weeks to get to the Netherlands. There was a delivery attempt on the 24th but I missed the mailman, they were supposed to come by again the next day but the tracking has been stuck on "parcel has been sorted" ever since, with a general message about there being delays because of corona attached. From what I read PostNL/Dutch Post seems to randomly be returning packages to sender rather than delivering them to a pickup point lately, I have to admit that makes me worried. I just called PostNL and they'll start an investigation into the whereabouts of my doll, here's hoping he'll get here (preferably on his own) quickly anyway. Any more Dutchies here that have had recent experiences with PostNL?

    20. I'm in the U.S. Had a delivery middle of march shipped ems and it took the normal amount of time, but tracking didn't update each step of the way as things normally do. This was a bhiner/taobao order. I don't thinks have slowed much at all coming out of china.

    21. So I was considering ordering a ResinSoul body and I just wanted to know if it was an exercise in futility? I'm in Australia and things haven't been bad here in terms of processing packages. I had some delay from heads a friend shipped from Germany but that was on Germany's end, not mine.

    22. Many of my packages from Korea arrived on time in early-mid March but that was before things started really exploding in the United States. I have a few others that should ship soon from Korea but the biggest delay has been China.

My Taobao order was shipped on March 21st and has not reached Los Angeles yet. Looks like other packages from China here took about two weeks instead of the usual couple of days. I'll wait another week before asking them to look into it...

    23. My SOOM order has at least arrived in the US. It took less than a week from Korea. I’ve heard that US Customs is really slow right now. I’m glad it is one step closer to getting home though.

    24. I just wanted to pop in and say that I've received two EMS shipments (one from South Korea, one from Japan) recently and both transactions were smooth. I'm in the United States.

One was from Iplehouse. It shipped on 3/24 and I received it on 3/30. My other one was from Mandarake and it shipped 3/29 and I received it on 4/3. The only change was that for both, my postal carrier left them at my door instead of requiring a signature, but I was expecting that.

    25. My EMS package from SOOM arrived today! Very quickly too. Phew, that was my last international package.

    26. I'm in Canada. I've had two parcels in particular experience significant delay, one from Canada and one from Germany.
I'm still waiting on the one from Germany, it's been in Canada for three weeks now, and it hasn't updated in 10 days. I'm so very worried because one postal customer service rep told me it was in my city, but that was on march 30th and also that's not on the tracking updates. I'm so scared my girl is lost. :/

    27. In the UK here. I’ve had things take varying times. A packet from France took ages, which is really unusual. About a month from shipping!
A packet from Korea was shipped on March 31. Yesterday it said it had been delivered - in Korea! I checked with the seller and they told me all packages they sent airmail had been returned to them and now only EMS was available. So I will need to pay an upgrade. I don’t mind because the sellers have no control over the situation, which changes from day to day :/
I’ve got a non-Doll-related package on its way from Australia by ordinary airmail that was supposed to arrive on March 21. There is no sign of it, but I suspect there’s an enormous backlog.
And something from Poland where it seems they only have surface mail, which takes a very long time, or couriers like UPS and DHL etc. So the seller and I have agreed to wait.
All of this is basically FYI...

    28. It's getting worse, a package shipped from Iplehouse on 4/1 didn't arrive until 4/11, taking 8 days before even leaving South Korea.

A package shipped from Mandarake on 4/10 has yet to move past the initial acceptance.

Both EMS bound for USA. Iple was an outfit and some wigs, Mandarake is a large doll.

    29. I'm having the same issues. (Also in Canada)

A package from Germany was returned to sender, so I asked her to wait and we'll try re-sending later.

One of my doll heads coming back from the face-up artist has been processed at the local facility and stalled there for two weeks. The mail was closed for about a week and just started up again a few days ago... So, I'm hoping she's delivered this week. :eusa_pray

    30. I had an order from an agent in China for Taobao ship my package EMS to the US on March 7. It arrived 3 weeks later. The box had extra cardboard firm supports on the corners so it would be harder to crush, but it was crushed anyway! Luckily it was mostly doll clothes and wigs, and everything was fine.

    31. I have 2 orders from China sent EMS with no tracking since 3/28. I live in the US. I'm also curious if US people are getting EMS orders from South Korea since I have an order being held from there.

Not good news about the crushed package since one of my items is a head.

    32. Got a package from Iplehouse delivered on the 11th that was sent on the 1st. Took a good 8 days to leave South Korea.

For anyone keeping track of Japan my Mandarake package still hasn't moved but I'm not expecting it to for a while. It's a big heavy box and there's huge delays so he's not really easy to slip in to a spare corner lol

    33. @Ian-KunX thank you. That's a lot better than from China!
And I have a wig that shipped from Japan!

    34. I pray that you and everyone else is luckier than I was, and get a better handled box!

    35. anyone know of bjd packages from, like, russia? i'm from the US.

i pre-ordered an artist doll off instagram (a respected seller/artist) in october and my doll shipped on march 26th. tracking updated saying it left russia on the 31st but hasn't updated since.

the only information i can find is for packages leaving the US or going into russia, not going OUT of russia INTO the US and it's driving me insane.

this bjd isn't exactly replaceable since it's a limited artist cast and i'm extremely worried :(

    36. I think most of the delays from other countries are caused by reduced air travel since packages travel in passenger planes. No one is moving these days. I hope the backlog can be resolved soon. The notice I saw from EMS in early April said there would only be suspensions and delays till May, but I wonder. At least we can worry together. :frownyblush:

    37. @Zest
Shipping from Russia is usually slow, but things do come in the end.
Was it sent with EMS or airmail? In my experience (before the Covid-19 virus) EMS takes two weeks while airmail can take up to a month or more.

    38. @Kaname Kimura it was EMS, and today marks exactly 3 weeks since it shipped and over 2 weeks since the tracking stopped updating :(

@Mahgiep i've had problems finding any information about delays, they're all incredibly vague and only seem to account for mail leaving the US and going into another country, there's just seemingly nothing about the other way around.

    39. Grrrrrr.

    40. Oh no...reading about these package delays is not making me feel good about the fate of my order ;; I ordered a 1/3 scale doll that should ship out today from Tokyo, but I’m expecting it to get stuck for a while even though it is EMS :/ Oh well, I can wait as long as my package arrives to me in the US safe! I’d be completely devastated if the contents got damaged in any way or lost :( I’m a worrier by nature so now I’ll always have that in the back of my mind :pout:

I remember last month I ordered two things on the same day (both small items)—one from Taiwan and one from California. The item from Taiwan arrived in about a week, but the item from California took a little more than two with no updates on tracking until the last few days. I assume things have only gotten worse now :/

Hope everyone receives their items soon and safely!!!

    41. Amen. Getting really tired of checking all day.

    42. I ordered some items from Alice collections and they are shipped via airmail around end of march, it's still "item left destination country". I'm getting a little anxious, I don't live near a major city (but on the east coast) and typically it takes a week or 2 before tracking shows it's in NYC... I have another package shipped from Japan around the same time and it has the same fate, I really hope they go through sometimes that it's just unfortunate delay. :(

    43. Exact same here. From China and Japan. I live in a small town in New England and get packages that go through NYC. I think they did not leave the destination country at all. Just were scanned to do so at the airport.

      • x 1
    44. Yeah mine says "Origin Post is Preparing Shipment", normally I take it as it's on a plane that's coming here. But since I haven't see any update for 3 weeks maybe it's possible that there was a delay at the original country.

    45. If you use a site like 17track it may be more detailed with international shipments since they run the number through trackers in both countries. USPS doesn't track with actual details until it is inside the USA. and even then, sometimes they do the "on its way, I guess" message when no one bothers to scan it en route. I've had times when a package never gets scanned except for delivery confirmation.

One of my recent Alice Collections shipments was listed as "put on a plane" like separate three times on China's postal tracking. Usually it's a direct flight from an outbound Chinese international airport to Los Angeles since I am in SoCal so maybe fewer flights due to the current situation might mean it took a less direct route or something. Or it kept getting bumped to other flights. Not really sure.

    46. My Mandarake order shipped on the 10th still hasn't moved past initial acceptance on tracking, I'm checking the Japan post website and USPS both, so the backup is *bad* even for EMS. I'm starting to wonder if DHL might have been a better choice and I don't trust DHL as far as I can throw them. XD; I know he'll get here eventually and that there's more important things going on in the world than my doll but I still worry a bit.

    47. I think what makes waiting with no movement hardest is the fact that this hobby is usually my main relief from worry. And now my worry is impossible to get away from.

And I'm buying more heads, etc. domestically but I really should be saving my money for the stuff I really want from Asia! Hahaha.

      PS I have a 17Track app.

    48. My head finally arrived from the face-up artist. The local facility had it for two weeks before delivering it. She's lovely and worth every penny. :chibi

My dolls coming from Alice's and Mandarake are still not updating though. The ones from the US have updated after around five days and should be here this week.

    49. DHL is definitely the better choice right now. 3 day delivery from both China and Japan to me on the West Coast. EMS is horribly delayed. I have 2 EMS packages that have been sitting at the facility in Seoul since April 10th.

    50. Yeah, unfortunately I hadn't realized how bad it had gotten back when I ordered the doll. XD Oh well, he'll arrive eventually, hopefully in one piece. >_>;

    51. i sent my heads out for faceups. one set for spain was shipped on the 23rd of march and arrived april 10th. 18 days. one set for thailand on the 25th. Both first class mail. its been 25 days and she has not arrived. they are sent from the US and Thailand is just getting COVID rn. it be like that, but hernias oh my :doh

    52. The last update for the shipment of my order from Alice's Collections was on the 24th of March.

Since then, I've only been able to determine that "the origin post is preparing shipment" - which I can only assume means that the USPS has not yet received the package - I hope that everything is okay.

I'm of course not happy to come here and see that so many other people are experiencing similar delays, but it is comforting to know that I'm not alone.

Stay safe and well, everyone. May our dolls arrive soon!

    53. My doll from Alice shipped via EMS on April 15 is still showing "Origin Post is Preparing Shipment" in Nanjing. From the looks of it, I'm going to be waiting for a long time. Which kind of sucks, since I've already been waiting on him since December.

And my March 31 order from Tata's Paradise hasn't even shipped yet at all. I understand, but I'm also just feeling really impatient since I've been out of work and in quarantine for a month and really need a happy distraction!

    54. Just checked again. My Alice's order is still just idling in China since the beginning of the month.

But! But, my Mandarake order (sent at the beginning of the month) just updated from en route to Canada to having already gone through customs and on the way. :D

    55. Was your Mandarake order shipped EMS?

    56. Yip. It was the method that they had available due to the postal changes.

    57. Then mine should move in another 10 days or so. Well, US not Canada here, but. XD

    58. I'm glad that I found this post, there's a few things I have bought from Mandarake through EMS that have been stuck in NY for about 15 days now. :doh

    59. I just got another update today and my Mandarake order is in the city and will be delivered tomorrow. It must've been held in the Japanese facility forever as when it finally hit Canada it sprinted.
