My spouse and I ended up both getting too spooked of losing the s-hook that we gave up though… maybe another day. This will be helpful for next time—but maybe just taking the foot off like normal will be better too, lol. What do you use to hold the hook that will still fit through clothes?

I have some LUTS clothes changing parts which are basically resin balls on hooks. I like them because they also have a long part that is easy to grab. But you could use say a larger s-hook (or any hook from the hardware store) that won't fit back into the leg. Or a part of a dowel or chopstick through the s-hook or elastic loop. Or a wire thick enough to handle the elastic tension bent into a U shape. I forget how strong/tight Dear Mine's stringing is but you could possibly even try widening out a larger paperclip. (Although it seems papercilps aren't made as strong as they used to be.)

Oooh, I've just seen the new Tiger Dune! Ever since I started collecting BJD i've always had in my mind that I would like an anthro Tiger. I've also been interested in Dearmine's anthros but not had anything that clicked with me up until this point. So this seems like a perfect combination for me

 

I know, isn't he stunning! I'm so tempted, but I promised myself no new dolls until I work on the ones I have haha

 

Dearmine has really been on point with their last couple fullsets; it's been harder for me to resist their big dolls lately. Their faceups are always so good!

 

I really like him too and I love Dearmine cats! Now I just have to justify getting him…

 

I really wanted to love him, but the Dune sculpt just isn't tiger-like enough for me. Maybe they could've done a new face mould for this fullset? The face up and body paint are great, just wish the sculpt fit a bit better imo.

The jacket is AMAZING though. Might just attempt to buy the clothing by itself at some point. But his tail is... fabric, for some reason? Maybe it would've been too difficult to do a resin version?

Also, definitely gonna grab Vivien when she comes up in their rotation again. I keep kicking myself for missing out on her last time

 

I adore the new Dune! But oh my gosh I wish his clothing was available separately because it's such a cool outfit! I might have to try and draft a pattern similar to that one because Tsukito is in dire need of some spoiling.

 

The tail threw me off too - the fullset descriptions lists a "tail cover" though so I think it's just a... sock for the resin tail. Not sure why it wouldn't just be painted like the face/ears though. Maybe so it still looks tiger-y even if you don't get the body painting done?

 

I know! Why is it when you don't want to buy a new doll, that's when a really cool one gets released?

They do seem to be getting better at getting the face ups to work with the unusual face sculpts which makes the dolls look more appealing

Yes, DM doesn't seem to put out a lot of new sculpts so it would be nice to see a new one. I kinda wish they had made more rounded tiger looking ears but not a deal breaker for me. I was also confused about the tail but looking at the outfit description, it lists 'tail cover'. And in one of the photos where you can see the tail it seems to be the same shape as the resin one. I'm guessing it does come with the resin tail and the fabric cover is a sleeve that goes over it? I hope that's the case as i'd prefer a resin tail and to blush it myself

DM seem to be fairly good at re-releasing sculpts so hopefully you won't have to wait too long for a Vivien to be available again

Haha, I wish they offered the outfits separately as there's been ones i've really liked in the past. I have to confess on the fence about the default outfit, I think I would have preferred it to be optional to bring down the cost of the doll. But I have to see if it grows on me more when I see it in person as it's looks like it has some fun details!

 

I believe they've offered some of the basic outfits separately in the past, but I'd love it if they did it more often! I'd love to see photos once he arrives. I'm thinking I might use the lovely Japanese fabric I have to make something similar.

 

I don't think I ever got around to posting my unboxing of my Nocturne when I first got him years back, but I've been slowly getting back into dolls recently, gave him a good dusting off and want to share some pics! Here he is with his little fox buddy! (Pipos Felix)

His head is now back on his body where it belongs and I'm shopping around for some new clothes for him! I feel terrible neglecting him and Felix for so long, but it's been really nice cleaning them up and taking them out again. For clothing purposes I really want to get the DL human leg parts from the site, but it's a tough decision to make (for my wallet).... though I'm actually wondering if there's a colour-matching pure white body that has great poseability I could get for him instead, since I'd love something a little more easy to pose & dress. Does anyone have recommendations?

Lastly, I'm also getting a naked Dune ~Silver Scales~ soon to join the doll family and I can't wait! He has one of my favourite faceups and when I browsed around for dolly stuff for the first time in years and saw him up for secondhand sale, I just couldn't resist

Thank you!!! He is indeed! I got him secondhand shortly after release and while some of the recent Nocturnes might be more of my personal style he'll always be my special first boy

 

Heh I thought I recognised the face up! I used to have the Eclipse version, but sold him a few years ago because I decided to shell his character in SD size to better fit in with my crew. I still just adore Nocturne.

 

Aw yeah I remember seeing your Nocturne back when I lurked this thread constantly before getting mine! I loved seeing the pics of him in his bright red cute shirt with his rocks (iirc??) alongside your lovely Tsukito, I hope he's got a wonderful new home ❤ He just has such a charismatic face!

 

Yeah, he was such a cutie! His character is a geo-mancer and I wanted him to fit in with my Egyptian pantheon, who are all giant SDs, so he looked really out of place sadly. His character has kept the nickname "Noc" because he's one of the few dolls I've ever had that kept his sculpt name. I do partly regret selling him to be very honest, and I think if I ever had the money to spare I'd love to get him again, but perhaps as a different character...his son maybe?
I hope he's enjoying life with his new owner, and I hope he's bringing them joy in return.

Edit to add: I still have that red shirt too I figured I'd give it to Tsukito to wear but he much prefers his collection of yukata.

I want to share mine: this is Koon from "Toxic" I'm trying to make a suit for him now, but I still haven't succeeded.

 

He's so cute! Did you blush his hands and feet yourself?

 

I love these guys so much, but I have yet to get one. As a Dearmine fan it's only a matter of time, I'm sure.

Apologies for somewhat bumping this older thread! I've been really interested in DearMines for a while, specifically the female cats. I'm trying to understand, but is Vivien always a special doll or has she ever been available as a Basic? Also, does anyone have photos of her without a faceup? I'm trying to decide between her and Angela because I like both of their sculpts, but (as far as I've seen on the official site anyway) there's only really photos of both of them with makeup on which kind of inherently alters my perception of them. I've managed to find blank Angela photos, so now I just want to compare the two!

Ah, Vivien. I believe she was actually discontinued in 2017? She's one of their Dear Shine girls and they discontinued the lot of them a while back. You may have to look around for her second hand.

If you're comparing Vivien to Angela you probably mean Vivien L which is Vivien rereleased as a 40cm Dear Lover size. She has been released in several special editions but is not a basic doll.

 

Oops, that is exactly what I meant! Okay, I thought so. I wonder if they'd ever make her a basic doll since she seems popular. I won't get my hopes up though hahaha!
