DearMine DearLover Mini 40cm Discussion Part 2

I'd love to see if that'd be all right, thank you for offering ;w;! And ahh I see! I'm just worried if I go for the current one, another set I like even more will show up right afterwards or something.. It'll be my first ever doll should I go through with it and I'm nervous about making such a big purchase!

edit: Oh goodness I do have a crisis now: Dolk Station only has two Nocturns left in stock, but it'll be around a week until the winter products get announced..! Should I bite the bullet or do I hold out and see if they release a new version I like better? What do you think are the odds of a standalone head ever going up for sale? I'm sorry for all the questions!

I can do that for you, no problem. I'll take a photo tomorrow once it gets light again (it's as dark as a cave in here).
Personally, I doubt very highly that DearMine has ever released just a head. they don't really seem like a company that does that sort of thing (sadly). I'm unsure of whether they'd release a new version again so quickly, so I really can't say. But I can understand your nervousness over buying a new doll, especially when it's your first. It is a big investment.

 

Took Florence out to the woods in her finished outfit. Have you guys seen the new Dear Lover releases coming up for the winter event?

Quick question: is there anyone here who bought the new Oskar ~Festival~ and does not want his outfit? I'd really like to buy it but it's not sold separately.

 

If anyone else was curious, I asked DearMine when the next Nocturn release would be and they said.. probably some time in 2017 so I guess I've given up on getting a Nocturn for now.. Instead I'm considering getting just a basic Dune, and I just got MP access so I'm super excited about that and was wondering if anyone has any faceup artist recommendations for anthros? I'm also really curious if anyone happens to have an unwanted Creature Claw Oskar's outfit lying around-- I hope it's all right to ask that here since the wanted board for clothing is down at the moment! Sorry for all my newbie questions and excitement!

 

On the upside, it means you can save up for the re-release of Nocturn next year.
Dune is super cool! If you're looking for a good anthro artist, IzabethS runs a face up shop and she's done a few DearMine dolls in the past, which you can see in her gallery.

 

It's so far away though!! Though, you're right... I'll sit tight and watch out for the secondhand market in the meantime..! Thank you for the recommendation too, if I end up going with Dune I'll definitely keep her in mind!

Also, I'm not sure if a post like this belongs here, but I'm just really hyped up on everything DearMine lately so I was wondering if anyone would like sketch requests of their dolls?

Hmm, not entirely sure but it's DearMine themed so I suppose as long as you share art of an on-topic doll that would count as being ok? Or don't share art...eh, I'd need a mod to check what the ruling on that is.

 

Hello everyone, very long time since I've been over here on DOA! Thought I'd pop by and say Hi! I tend to spend more of my online hobby talk via various FB groups these days so don't come over here much ^^

Last year my Dear Lover family grew when my Evans ~Tea Party~, Callum arrived. Here's Callum wearing a slightly altered (I used a wire brush on it to age / wear it a bit) cape I received as a gift from a local Sydney Halloween meet:-

Oh wow, love them ♡ Dark merlot / blood plum colour by the looks of it, one of my favourite shades. Hehe, and they'd have to show them with what looks like the new upcoming DL dress I've been eyeing off too, can't wait to see more of both. I have a good $50+ worth of Dearmine points to use, looks like I'm going to be doing some Dear Lover wardrobe shopping when the Spring releases arrive

 

Everyone's Dearmine dolls are all so lovely. I am a huge fan and actually own two of their MSD sized anthro dolls. I have a Priscilla and an Angela. I hope to post more pictures of them in the future. Here is my lovely Angela. This is not what she is dressed in at the moment, and this is an older unaltered photograph. Nevertheless I hope you enjoy!

JenKat, thank you so much for the compliments! I did indeed do her faceup. A lot of the details are hiding in the photo, but I can probably take a few detail shots!

I'd love to see more of her face-up I don't have an Angela yet although she's been on my wishlist for a while and I love seeing how different she can look depending on what people do with her sculpt

 

I hope it's okay to mention this (since I think mine is OT,) but I thought it might be relevant and helpful here: I have a tiny bjd fox with a resin fox tail and the tail is VERY heavy. It won't stay on with clothes and it falls off so constantly that I typically just display her sitting down next to it, rather than actually wearing it.

I'm guessing that Dearmine probably tried fox tails at one point and then went with cat tails to avoid the added and unwieldy weight.

(I'm new here, and enjoying seeing everyone's photos! I love Dearmine! Their sculpts and makeup are sooo cute! They're my favorite bjd company, I think.)

 

That's not surprising, a solid chunk of resin would be very heavy, especially if we're talking MSD-sized. I guess a hollow tail might be more manageable? Or just buy some fur (fake or real) and make your own!

 

@sprinkles No fox tails sadly, the closest would be the bushy Nekomata tails for Dear Pets Roy, Nabi, Skull & Rose - not really suitable for a regular fox or a traditional kitsune though (you would need 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9 tails for a kitsune) & a bit small for a Dear Lover. However, as Quiet & Insane has said it is fairly easy to make a tail out of fur fabric with a wire armature that makes it easy to pose. Much lighter weight than an MSD sized resin fox tail would be

@sistercuervo Deb, sorry I missed complimenting your wonderful trio there Yes, it's very difficult getting a good group shot (getting everyone to stand or sit straight is a lot like herding cats ) but you did a great job there

I can't believe I forgot to post of pic of my boy with his tail *head desk*.

While I did initially name him Shae-Lin, the name isn't sitting right with me and I'm thinking of changing it. I also still need to get around to making him a wig out of the coyote fur I have. However, I'm chronically lazy and added to the fact that he has 3 wigs to choose from... yeah, not really getting on top of making him a new wig very quickly.

 

Boy is he cute! I haven't seen a lot of Evans (then again I haven't seen a lot of anything, I'm chronically out of touch right now OTL), your picture is a great reminder of the guy!

Yea, they gotta be heavy! I've even had issues with my Oskar's cat tail staying in place (probably the clothes there!), and having Oz with his fox tail, well, same deal a lot of the time. With everyone else chiming in about fur tails again.....I remember thinking that would be super cool to look into for my Oskar, Leo.....if I can get off my butt I should look into that again! Thanks for the lovely reminder everyone!

I just completed my Priscilla's faceup.
I am unsure if I will keep this wig on her or not. My apologies for the bad photograph, its from my phone in a dimly light area of my apartment.

Thanks so much. It's a Tonner Tyler outfit called "Ski Retreat" Luckily the sleeves were wide enough that I didn't have to remove her hands. The ski pants are nice & stretchy, too.

Q&I, your Nocturn's so cute...!! I love the contrast between his serious face and his ridiculously fluffy hair. And that's a lovely outfit you've found for your Irene, @sistercuervo! It suits her look really well.

In other news, after three months of daily searching I finally managed to find a Nocturn secondhand, and after some shipping hassles he's on his way to me at last now ;____;!! I've started shopping around for him already (and burning a hole in my wallet)... I'm really glad I decided to hold out for my grail to be my first doll in the end.

During this time I've also managed to pull two other friends down with me into the world of BJDs, and one of them's getting a Festival Oskar! Dearmine will seriously spell doom for all our wallets at this rate.

 

Thank you @jaywalk! It seems serious faces and ridiculously fluffy hair are a theme among my dolls. XD I'm so happy that you found your own Nocturn! Just note that some tops and pants may not fit because of his huge hands/feet and weird calves. Worst case scenario you have to remove a couple of limbs to get him dressed. I know I've done that before. Congratulations on getting your friends into the hobby as well.

I am investing in a new camera atm. I just took these with my ipad mini.
I have had my doll hobbies on hold for awhile, but I still have them sitting in a particular spot looking pretty. I cover them up to protect from sunlight, since I have a small apartment, but here they are on the doll couch. I like to pull them out every now and then just to mess around with them.

@Quiet and Insane -- Yeah, I've had the problem with getting hands through sleeves with my Cocoa Dune. I got him with the fs outfit and his hands do not fit through the shirt and coat sleeves--and the outfit was from DearMine, made for that doll...

@jaywalk -- Oh, congrats on finding your Nocturn! And Oskar is a cutie, too. I hope you and your friend enjoy your dolls! Dearmines are pretty addictive!

@april - Oh my gosh, I hate it when that happens! You'd think the outfit they send would fit the doll properly, or at least be somewhat easy to assemble.

 

Heh... well, I really should just remove the hands and deal with it! (I was thinking of ripping the seams, but that seems a bit extreme!). I'm just lazy when it comes to removing heads and hands...!

 

Just a little extreme. I'm so used to removing heads and hands that when I end up buying clothing that already fits I'm surprised!
