Darak Doll 40cm Mini Discussion Part 1

Haha, we ordered the same two girls then! Yes, the make-up is much less dramatic in real life- maybe some editing on the website? Like the lips are redder and the eyeshadow darker. I had hoped they would do the request as they did a fantastic job on my Claire adding the freckles and darkening the lips... I still love her though. Did you also get the B body?

I do love the Semy make up. She has such a sweet face. I was also so happy with the eyes they had as their defaults. So perfect.

I look forward to seeing your Semy! Did you get the face-up B too? What plans do you have for Hera?

Well here a pic/collage of her in the nude and with simple poses, but she can do more than that, her posing is incredible and so graceful!!!!

I don't have a name for her yet, but I know how she'll turn out, I just need to find time for her faceup and all the rest... sewing her clothes wouldn't be bad, either but I have to admit, I really love her in the nude, she's so graceful!

Ahhh congrats Blablette She is so lovely in tan. I LOVE their bodies, my girls (especially with the body blushing) are soo beautiful nude. The posing is insanely good right? I think the only thing I need now from Darak-i are different hand positions. But now I'm just being picky :P

What are your plans for her face? Remys are so cute

I have the idea to give her an elegant glamourous faceup. Although I can picture her well as a teenage girl, I'd like her to be an elegant, classy grown up woman. I see her in lots of vibrant colours with a slight 70's/disco feel.

They are really versatile sculpts as they can do young and older face-ups very well. Most Remys are quite young so it'll be exciting to see an older version
In my girls, I feel Hera is definitely the older sister! I am hoping to take more pics this weekend of them, they are so enthralling, I can barely stop looking at them.

Oh, my, yes the box is great!!! It's padded, and she was in a lovely blanket, too! I took pics, I have to upload them to flickr first...

Ahhh, yes the box is a bit heavy, but as I remember shipping was not more expensive than for just a doll, must check again.
What's nice is that it has a handle and a strap can be fixed and it's a carrying bag, then.

I think shipping was still standard for you because it was an event gift, a while ago they decreased shopping prices when they switched to the default box.

Today I got some new slim MSD clothes from the market place here, so instantly tried them all on Semy (Kestrel), Hera (Nissa) has the corset on which takes forever to put on and off >.>

Awww, I did a lot of sewing these last days, so Remy got pushed into the background.
I've also noticed that the wig I thought would fit her is too big and I'm hesitating to give her another from my huge pile, and give her another style than the 70's inspired one. The wig she'll end up with will also influence the faceup a bit, I think... aaaaaah! Decisions decisions... ^_^

Nissa is really sexy in your picture, in an elegant way. ;-)

She has the middle bust, and she is still half-nekkid... I've put her a bloomer short on, and she'll need a top, but the darak body is so cute, it doesn't matter! ^_^

Yes! Naming is always hard. I knew these girls were going to be Kestrel and Nissa, but I didn't know who would be who until they arrived.
Ah yes, Nissa has middle and Kestrel has small. You are right, they have beautiful bodies. I have a few clothes for these girls but most of the time they're nekkid too! Can't cover up all that body blushing!!

I wanted to ask, do you know if darak-i feet fit into shoes made for minifee, or other msd for that matter? I currently have 4 dolls and 0 pairs of shoes because I only want shoes that fit well - but have none to try... Any help would be appreciated

Yes! I am quite terrible not owning a single pair of dolly shoes >.< I'm too picky I think, and like irl, too scared the shoes won't fit!

I am so tempted to get the box whilst I can from their website, but.... it's just a box.. right??? Arghh. Sorry - a little inner struggle there!

I saw a girl on flickr using a darak-i body with an unoa head which is a very pretty hybrid. I'm sure more people in the future will look to Darak-i for their lovely bodies Especially with the variation on bust sizes being so proportionate, and being able to fit into minifee stuff.

Apparently my pillows have been shipped, I look forward to it

For she shoes, I've checked some shoes that fit my MNF and Unoa, and they fit perfectly the Darak feet. (MSD type shoes are too big, as they are too bog on the unoa etc.). So whaterver fits MNF or Unoas will fit Darak.

Here's Kestrel in Nissa's corset. The corset is from Raouken's minifee range. They fit both the small bust and medium bust of Darak-i really well.

Still no pillows, but I guess it's been Easter so European post will have been suspended for a bit...

 

This is my Semy, she just needs a makeover soon I think, since I'm not bonding with her too well anymore, so I'll change her look when I get time for it ^^'

 

I love changing up a doll's look. I hope you find something right for your Semy I love her different coloured eyes!
I'm quite pleased with my MSD gang at the moment as I bought a huge amount of clothes second hand and just trying the different things on them is so exciting, these Darak-i girls are versatile.

I will try some wig swapping with Zaïda maybe, but I really like her in her mint one, but I'll have a look for fun. I still haven't changed her clothes, maybe it's my secret wish for Spring to be more present and warm... My birthday is the 15th! When is yours?? (P.S. May is the best month :P) I'm not sure if they'll fit though... I picked them and they are currently in their box on my fiancé's desk waiting for the 15th - drives me insane!

Zaida looks so cute in that outfit. She has such a chilled out look. That wig does really suit her, I can see why you haven't tried others! I don't know if I've said it before but I love the way you put freckles on her neck, it looks so real.

Kestrel looks so sweet in that short blond wig, and the fibre of that wig looks so soft, too. Both your girls wear this wig differently indeed, but they wear it well, both of them. ^_^

Ahh almost exactly two weeks after mine! The only problem is I have exams all next week D: (Always a problem with having a Birthday in May... always exams D

Zaida looks lovely outside! I wish I had a garden to take mine out into. (I'm too worried about them to take them into a public outdoor spot.) She does look at home there among the greenery, that scarf looks so cool too! She is definitely pulling off a very cool look there!

I wanted to show a pic of Semy (Kestrel) in a dark wig, she really pulls it off with her blue eyes! My friend did the styling on the wig I love her bodyblushing so much!

I also have a question - do you ever have a problem with the double joint in the arm? Sometimes I really have to angle it correctly to make it reach the double jointed pose (hope that makes sense to you, I'm not sure my explanation was clear!).

When I go outside it's downstairs of our appartment block. I just hope that I don't freak out the neighbours... "oh look that crazy woman and her dolls...", but sometimes I take my dolls with me to different places, I got more confident, even if I keep dolly photography discreet. ^_^ What helps is that often my daughters are around, too, and people just assume my dolls are their "barbies". ;-)

I don't have any problems with the elbow joints, but I see what you mean, I have other dolls with elbow double joints, and they sometimes pop out in weird ways... but not with my Darak.

It sounds fun taking the dolls out. One day I will work up the courage to do it, but first I'd like to try it in a safe spot. We have some particularly rude 16 year olds and I used to work at their school so I really don't want to be subject to any attention from them!

Yeah it's just on one arm, I find it hard to make it do the second half of the movement sometimes, I feel there should be a pattern, but I haven't spotted one yet.

i have 2 Darak Dolld - I have a Dark Dodo 5yosd size and Brad 45 cm their only boy) and so happy with them. The resin is superb, they pose very nicely, except for the wrist that is not very mobile.
They ship very quickly and offer Layaway but not on the website you need to contact them directly.
They reply to email very quickly too.

Hey [MENTION=68704]dodie[/MENTION] - you should share some pictures of Brad - I think he's a great boy! I agree about the wrist thing but I do love the aesthetic of no wrist joint (or ankle joint), I think it looks much more appealing and the limbs have an elegant flow to them.

I really love Kestrel with dark hair, but she's never as popular as when she's blonde. I love the way it brings out her blue eyes @@

How often does Darak offer tan skin for their dolls? I'm really taken with Remy, but I'm now thinking I'd like her even more in tan.

 

Hey haiiroko - usually tan is around event times only, but I've known people to request with for example the C_Remy and they've received a tan outside of the event times. I know the last tan was part of an event limited (for the MSD Remy). It might be worth contacting them to ask if they plan on releasing another tan MSD Remy, or whether they would be able to make you one in a different tone of tan?

Good luck finding your dream tan Remy :P

I fell in love with Darak at Dollism and ended up getting a tiny Cezanne. I just ordered two Remy bodies - one in white for my new Shiny Doll Meefa head. And the other body in normal resin will be for a DiM Laia head that I've had for awhile. I bought a DC Faust head and put it on the tiny body. The resin match is perfect! I enjoy seeing all the pictures in this thread especially the full body shots showing how beautifully the Darak dolls pose. Not only are the Darak heads beautiful but, wow, the bodies make great hybridsas well!

 

I'm really liking the tan Darak dolls, in particular tan Remy and Claire tan Remy.
Just when I think I have my doll limit set for this year, haha.

Do they happen to have a physical store or showroom in South Korea?

I love both sizes so own both :P But I'm afraid I don't have any tan skin to share. I know they're going to some events at the moment, but can't say where - maybe message them? I also don't think they have a showroom. They're still relatively new I think.

Here's a quick pic of Hera today - the weather was bad and the camera ran out of battery so I didn't get anything magnificent but I love the way she looks here - like she's off to the ball!

Hera is so pretty and I love her corset! someday I'd love to have a corset for each of my girls.

I ordered the medium size bust for both bodies mainly because I don't want to have to adjust patterns. I like how natural the busts are. Very pretty!

 

Yes! I love corsets, and Raoken's mnf size fit both my darak-i girls well, although Hera (with bust B) suits it more. I think the B size means they will fit more stuff generally, but A fits more of the U-noa sized stuff. So benefits to all sizes :P
I also love Darak-i's body blushing! Did you order any for your bodies? The only thing is it makes me worried to play with them too much incase I ruin it >.<

So Darak-i update, I bit the bullet and sent Hera off to have a new face-up! She had a lovely face-up from Darak-i, but man I could NOT stand her eyebrows. Not for me, and definitely didn't suit her character of Nissa. So I'm hoping she'll come back pulling off the right vibe!

I got some mako eyes for the girls in the meantime. 12mm too, (they were previously wearing 14mm glass from Darak-i). So here's a quick picture of Kestrel with hers. I love the colour and the depth. Not 100% on they positioning. It's hard because the 12mm have quite large gaps :/ But then the 14mm is still a bit big for what I'm after.
