Contest Customizing Contest ~ Diamond Anniversary

I didn't enter but just submitted my vote's, I thought the guidelines were really tough so everyone did an amazing job of fitting into those parameters!!

 

I voted ^_^ there were so many great interpretations and entries! Some of those dolls I'd like to bring home with me haha >.>!

 

I had a huge rush in doing my own, I finished mine 4AM, only a couple of hours before deadline. XD I'm sad that all my glitter didn't show up in the pictures... But it was nice, I loved the theme! There's so many pretty faceups done! Well done everyone!

 

Ok that was a blast to look through. There were a lot of "ooooh!"s coming out of me as I went through them all!

Oooh, all these amazing entries, it'll be really hard to decide, but I loved seeing all the different interpretations of this year's theme. And the Star Trek ones - I don't know who you are, but I love you guys! Star Trek FTW

Ehh, on the glitter-not-showing-up thing, I feel all of your pain. On the last day the weather was so overcast and dark that I was happy to just get some pictures, there was absolutely no hope to get any of the glitter to show up. Next day, a mere 3 hours after the deadline (different timezone)...I look at doll, doll blinds me with the shining glitter. Heh

I didn't have as hard a time making choices within the given categories with this competition. Beautiful work!

 

Yeah I feel you on photos not capturing the full glory thing. I wish I could just submit a 360 degree video so people could see all the detail I put in. A lot of it got lost in the photos. I really wish I could use it in my faux finishing portfolio.

now i'm really glad i pushed myself to enter this contest - originally i wasn't going to enter any contests because i was out of town for half of august, but when i saw the theme for this challenge i thought it was a chance to finally get around to painting up my girl.

i fell in love with her, and i'm thrilled to see that others enjoyed her too *^^*

Hmm...perhaps trying to do a face up for the first time ever and enter it into a competition was far too ambitious...on the up side, two of the entries I voted for won! So congratulations guys!

...now to wait for the results to see if anyone even liked mine...oh well...it was good practice at least.

 

Hey hon, just remember; even if you didn't get any votes, or a lot, it doesn't mean your faceup was bad, ok? There were 4 categories to vote in, and there were a lot of beautiful faceups that didn't really seem to fit very perfectly into a vote for any of those categories, but they were still lovely! I didn't place either, but I think it's so damn cool that you entered a contest on yer first faceup! Even if you improve later and think you don't like what you did not, that's freaking badas and I sure wouldn't have been able to do that

Congratulations to the winners! The voting was so close, it was kind of excruciating tallying up the final totals! Here is the raw voting data, since it's nice to see that some other entries got recognition for specific criteria.

 

Very true, choosing to vote for only four was extremely hard even with the categories to split them into, I could have easily chosen to vote for a dozen or more!
Thank you for your kind words. If anything, this experience has given me an idea with what to expect for next time. I can only improve from here - a little improvement to everyone's skill set is never a bad thing; and a contest like this would let those who are a little more confident to play around and explore, while those of us who are just starting out can give it our best shot and learn from that.

 

i think it's very brave to enter with your first face up - it took me a long time to get comfortable enough even to just do a face up, and a lot longer after that to enter one into a contest. but it's true - just use it as a chance to learn more ^^ i know i saw techniques in this contest i hadn't ever thought about and would love to try out (those cosmic inspired face ups really blew me away personally)

 

Congrats to all the winners! I thoroughly enjoyed participating in this contest and wound up with a new muse in the process. Now on to start customizing the body that my robot/android queen has claimed... Not looking foward to working with more silver leaf though, may have to use that sparingly. It is not always cooperative.

 

Kudos to all who entered, you are talented and brave! I would like to mention one entry that really caught my eye and imagination, #29 with the crackle glaze. Great concept and well-executed.
