Custom Plastic- 1:6 scale mature dolls & props/Scenes (ie customaction figures, hottoys or others)

Mar 29, 2019

    1. Honestly I'm doubting DollShe will EVER produce those. It's been years now. Also they cancelled the fashion maxi size of the kids they make because he hated trying to make small hands, and considering that fashion mini hands will be even smaller, I can't see him taking it through. If I had money to burn right now, I'd actually bet a very large amount that fashion mini will never happen, and I'd be happy to be proved wrong.

Better to ask Granado, Soom, MiracleDoll, DollZone, Xaga Doll and other BJD makers of small slim bodies that you specifically are after some lanky dudes? Granado definitely listens to what people ask for on Instagram, and most BJD companies are interested to hear directly what folks might be after. The doll may then be made this century at least.

    2. @nattherat they seem to have done several preorder periods of them and now the site says sold out, but when I contacted Dollshe they said they hadn’t yet made the moulds so who knows! I’d love to have heaps of them if they ever exist, now I’ve got a couple of 1:6 scale boys it’s just such a portable and easy to clothe size, my 70cm dudes are neglected!

im only into the Dollshe body aesthetic though, didn’t like the Granado ones... Enzyme might?

    3. My point is more that you can ask Granado to make something more to your liking. The sculptor seems nice on Instagram, and they sculpt way more different styles than perhaps is what is apparent from the website. There'd be no harm in asking them if they would think about making a softer male body. Frankly I wouldn't be surprised if they were already considering one.

I was perhaps a little vague in my post haha, but Dollshe repeatedly opens orders and shuts them, that's nothing new. The dolls aren't sold out, the order period is just closed. And the minis were announced years ago with absolutely zero progress being made. Honestly, they're never happening. Don't get me wrong, I agree, that's why I initially ordered one all the way back when they were announced. But when you follow DollShe for long enough, you get an idea of what will eventually happen and what will just absolutely not happen. He never even made Selly haha, and that doll pretty much already exists. If you're not already a part of the DollShe threads, I'd recommend reading through them to get some insight into the history. If he isn't interested in a doll, he doesn't make it regardless of the fact that it was announced or that he took orders for it. He hasn't worked on the minis since mid 2018 and I doubt he ever will.

(EDIT: Not to say he's an outright scammer. He refunds anybody who asks for their money back, and in the cases of fashion Rosa, etc, he made classic size versions for anybody who still wanted the doll instead. You WILL get a doll or your money back, but the doll is going to be one that he actually wants to make/has the moulds for or it isn't happening.)

    4. @nattherat I’ve owned Dollshe dolls before, unfortunately I’ve an inkling, I’m just so gutted because I like all of his slim bodies and just the thought that they may one day exist in 1/6 is giving me life lol!

    5. @psycholily, my father collected the Enterbay Bruce Lee figures for a few years, he stopped because they were fragile as all heck so he would just look at them from his glass cabinets. They were pretty expensive as well, so it was kind of pointless for an action figure. He kind of stopped for good when I got him the HT Bruce Lee figure for Christmas when that came out quite a few years ago. Although, I am not a huge fan of HT and own only a few figures by them, their bodies are not half as fragile as the Enterbay ones, so that kind of made my dad realize how overpriced the Enterbay ones were back then. Not sure if they have improved any over the years, but I hope you have fun building your current project. I'm sure it will at least be a lot more sturdy than when Enterbay originally released the body. DX

I have seen the Asmus slim/teen body you showed me, I am not quite a fan of the aesthetics but I have never seen it for sale, or comparisons of it -- I'm not a fan of Granado (I do like their HS) nor Dollshe's aesthetics either, but I'm trying not to purchase more resin so it wouldn't help me if they made a 1:6 male body. I did purchased the WorldBox AT011 body quite a while ago, but didn't realize it was a pre-order, so now I'm just waiting like an idiot for it to be released (again). With the more serious issues going on in China, I doubt it'll ship this month as it was intended. I am not all hopeful it will be the body I need for my 1:6 female head sculpts, but from the one photo I was able to find of it online next to a Hot Toys narrow-shoulder body (which I do own one of), I kind of think it's going to be too broad as well. Regardless, it can't hurt to have more bodies, particularly when legitimate things go for so much more after they sell out in the 1:6 hobby. The WB AT011 body was less than $20USD when it released a few years ago, I had to pay almost double and I'm not happy, but at least it's not four to five times more like with the Volks bodies -- which I still regret trading to this day. DX

I can never find anything at my "nearest" Walmart, so I might have to get the palest slim Ken to try and modify some articulations onto, from Amazon or eBay (at inflated prices plus s/h). I'm not unwilling to do that, but I was hoping an already existing articulated male body would work, or at least one with a bit more decent looking body sculpt. Oh well. I guess I do enjoy chopping plastic, so I can't complain too much.

    6. You probably have already seen toyanxiety.com but if not, they have a lot of loose 1:6 bodies that might give you some ideas?

as you may have seen, my enterbay body has most of its joints snapped. The problem with the nba figures is that they have a really firm sort of incremental mechanism in the joints that holds poses extremely well, but is also stronger than the plastic pins holding the limbs into the mechanism so it’s 50/50 whether you will move the shoulder or snap it off! But when they work they move beautifully and they hold poses like nothing else

    7. Yes, I've been a TA customer for quite some years now. I got a few Triad Toys Otaku bodies and head sculpts loose from them a million years ago when they were already kind of going out, and a bunch of other HT clothes and bodies. I got HT Kamui Gaiden from them sans his neck, because apparently necks are very popular to buy loose in the 1:6 world; all accessories, body and HS were still in-stock but the neck was all sold out by the time I noticed. He was released in an "Asian" skin tone, so finding a neck for him was an ordeal and I've sadly still have him with a "Caucasian" one to this day, because "Asian" toned ones in a narrow-shoulders size is pretty much impossible to get loose from HT figures. DX

    8. I'm looking for slimmer male bodies with wide necks, but that's not a possibility with the Japanese fashion doll bodies like Volks or Obitsu. If I owned more Volks Neo EB Goh, I wouldn't mind modifying one to be broader, but because those are super rare second-market/hand, and even more expensive I wouldn't want to ruin one of mine (I only kept three). The Ken slim might be an option for me, but I'll need to add articulation myself, because there are no M2M slim Ken as of yet. I am not aiming for any FtM characters however, just bodies that won't be too disproportionate for my 1:6 female head sculpts but are 100% male. (:.

    9. Thank you very much for the link to that tutorial, psycholily! I don't think it would work for my female head sculpts, but I own two artist cast sculps of a male character (MGS2 Raiden & MGRR Raiden ), which are kind of smaller than most 1:6 males. I was wondering if I should purchase bodies for those, since they'll probably won't work on most due to them looking pinheaded, but not as much as the female ones. I'll probably try that mod for them, if I find a pale enough body... or maybe I just won't undress them. Lol! DX

    10. Adding my updated Leon S. Kennedy from the Resident Evil 4 version of the series. I painted him a few days ago, and tried cleaning his eyes a bit, because I suck, but I think I made one of the eyes worse, and I'm pretty sure it was the "cleaner" eye. DX I own the RE4 main outfit, but I am missing a more accurate shirt, and all of his weapons and harnesses. I don't think I'll ever be able to get those, because they are very specific to the game, and the only way would be to custom make them myself. I don't think there's enough time in the world for me to do that (I'm not dying, that I know of, I'm just lazy), so I think I'll just settle for finding/making his black 5.11 shirt someday. (:

This is the first time I paint sculpted hair, I wasn't looking forward to doing so, and I even removed it from a previous head sculpt I posted on here to avoid doing so. However, I don't think it was as terrible as I thought it was going to be. I don't own the proper gloved-hands for him either, so most of these are very repetitive upper-body shots. The gray turtle neck is a bit short, so I avoided full body shots.

Forgot the back to show a bit of the rest of the hair. I had the genius idea of adding matte-medium, and now the hair photographs a lot darker than in person:

    11. Anyone know where I can buy extra feet for the TBLeague (Phicen) male bodies? My M36's feet are too big for shoes, and I'm tired of him being barefoot. I'd even like shoes that attach like feet as long as they're black chucks, but I already have a nice pair so I'd prefer feets.

I've finally got clothes for him, and have managed to get the extra hands on, so I'm planning on finishing up his mods so he can be done finally. But shoes would be nice.

    12. Oh, cool! Phicen/Hot Toys collectors!! (I'm new - thinking of changing my username to 'Magpie Collector')

I bought a Hot Toys Suicide Squad Harley Quinn head and outfit. Because I didn't do any research, I bought a Phicen body. I mean, it was only $70 - why research? (*headdesk, headdesk*)

Then I got a Captain Marvel from Hot Toys, and I realized why Harley's head looks too small for her body. Sigh...

      See for yourselves:

    13. Does anyone have Ringtoys Padro?
