Custom House Little Junior and Junior discussion part 1

Ah! I was staring at her on the MP. Congrats. I love her and she reminds me so much of an Unoa but with a softer younger look.

So I may not have pictures yet, I'm working on his faceup, but I just welcomed home a brand-new Little Junior Hades! I suspect that with the December and January orders finally shipped, I may not be the only one. He's absolutely precious, but I was hoping to get some advice here?

First of all, while I'm happy with him either way, he is REALLY pale. I ordered NS, but he matches a MNF in WS almost perfectly! Is that typical with newer CH resin, or did I get a whiteskin by mistake?

Second, I know I've seen a list of links or a thread about clothes that fit the LJ boys--does anyone have a link to that by any chance? I've had no luck find it, and right now he's stuck in a pair of MNF girl pants with a piece of string for a belt! I'd really appreciate some help tracking down info on good clothes.

Wolfie, every CH doll I received (3 total) since last September has been cream white, even though I ordered normal resin. Their "normal" is just very very pale. I suppose their white resin, if they offer it, is going to be paper white by comparison. So, you definitely got normal resin

Here is a photo of my mini Cebee, which I received late last year. As you can see, she's pretty pale!

I got the normal skin and its almost the same color as my ringdoll in white I am not sure if that helps anyone.

Yea, they have really un-colored their NS... I would be very interested to see what their WS is even like at all, if they'll even release more white dolls...

 

I don't know if it's true, but I've heard that the more color you add to the resin, the more air bubbles and the more difficult to get a good cast. So I suppose that using almost white resin would cut down on the costs?

 

Ah, that makes some sense then. CH was having all those casting problems; maybe that's when/why they switched.... But still, lol, I still have no idea how they'll be able to differentiate between NS and WS. X3

 

Custom House has used a very pale NS resin for a long time. For reference, here is a picture of basic NS Yeondu and the LE WS Yeondu as Alice, both from before all the problems with Custom House.


PS: The WS is very white!

 

My Selene and Dione (from... I don't know, 2006 or so?) were a lot darker than the current resin, though. I also have several dolls on older Little Junior bodies, and they're nowhere near as pale as the more recent CH dolls... I don't know when they started going lighter.

 

The NS Yeondu is from mid 2008 and she is the very pale NS. So maybe in 2007.

 

here is my Yeondu from this year with the natural skin tone on the left with a custom house body(sorry about the cat eyes). On the right is the Miyo head with a ringdoll body you can see how the pale the coloring is almost a cream color.

Oh, I'm glad I clicked on this thread! This helps so much since I just got a used Mars head and I was considering a ringdoll body to put it on, but was wondering how well the resin might match up. Thanks!

I haven't spammed my sweet little Annabelle here for quite some time!
She will be turning 2 this month.

 

Oh goodness, she's beautiful, guls207. Icarus is one of my favorites out of the Little Junior sculpts. I've never seen one as a girl before, but Annabelle looks just perfect.

I could have sworn I'd dropped by this thread before, but it seems I never posted here. I have some pictures I took of my LJ Jupiter from ... over a year ago, actually, but I suppose sharing them now is better than never. XD;

I miss my own LJ boys - I sent them back to my mom's place because I have no room for them here and I figured that I haven't been in the hobby for a couple years and I wouldn't play with them much.

Not three months later. . .Ahaha. Oh well! I'll get them back in a couple of weeks.

It's been a while since I wandered into this thread. Yesterday I gave Paul, my Little Junior Mars, a new faceup:



I'm fairly pleased with it - all the lousy practice face-ups I've done are starting to pay off a little. He's also on a different body these days - it's a Soom little gem body, which is a pretty nice match, proportion and resin-wise (it's the cream white.)

 

@kristo: Wow, what a group! Max almost looks like he's too cool to ride, haha!

@solitary agent: Ooo, I really like how you did the lashes! That's good that the Soom bodies are a good match - I'm curious now, is your Mars made from the newer resin or the older?

 

Thanks! He's the newer resin, from 2010 - the very pale "normal." You'd think it'd be at least a little darker than anything called "cream white," but nope. It's almost identical. The blushing makes his head look darker in the picture up there, but it's really a great match, even texture-wise.

Yes, she is on a Leeke Art body! I thought it was very fitting - she's supposed to be the mother of the little Doll Chateau Merlin that she's holding here, and his body and her body are very similar in their pear shape!

I've been constantly trying to get Paul's faceup right - he must have had ten by now! I'm pretty satisfied with his current one. He's got some fancy new clothes too. Of all my dolls, I think he's the most spoiled in the clothes department!

 

Awww! How adorable! You did a really nice job on his faceup! I love his clothes too! I found the little junior body a PAIN to dress. T_T Where did Paul get his dashing outfit from?

 

Thank you! His outfit is from Kondoll. He doesn't have the LJ body any more, though, I put him on a Soom Little Gem body. Much easier to dress However, I did have pretty good luck with buying regular 1/4 clothes, then altering them slightly to make them a little smaller - taking in the waist on shorts and pants and shortening the sleeves on shirts.

 

Hi all - I don't have a little junior myself, but I am swapping with one, and I wanted to know if slim mini teeshirts fit them okay? Or if there are any easy places to get clothes for LJs that aren't too hit and miss? Do YoSD tees and pants fit them?

 

Hiya Miss Carrion~ You can check this database. From my experience, the newer ones from Ai Dolls are smaller than when they were cast by Custom house, and depending whether it's a LJ boy or girl body.

Back when Paul was on the LJ body, I just used MSD shoes for him. Socks help to keep them on if they're a bit big.

@solitary agent: I think I'm beginning to understand the sailor suit phenomenon you've been having with Paul. We put a sailor outfit on my sister's little Lester (an Icarus) when he returned with his new faceup, and now we can't imagine the little rascal in anything else.

 

So cute! I must have 5 different sailor suits now, they're so addictively adorable.
Dropping in to share a new boy - I was thinking of selling this little guy but after giving him a new faceup I decided he works as a younger version of one of my SD boys - here he is with his older self! His name is Liang.

 

Hi! So I just got a Little Jr. Jupiter head, so as I put him together the rest of the way I'll be hanging around here, I think
Speaking of which, does anyone know what a good hybrid body would be with a little jr head? Since it seems like little jr. bodies might be hard to come by, but maybe not, I dunno.

My Mars is on a Soom Little Gem body and it works really well, both resin matching and proportions-wise. I've got my Hades on a Dolkot MSD body, resin match is a little off but not bad.



Paul's all dressed up to go to Anime Weekend Atlanta with me, but he's spending some quality time with his boyfriend Robin before we leave.
