Very nice group! Are they all CH, or a mixture of CH and the new Luts w/CH face molds?

They are all CH, my 2012 Hani face are fatter than my 2010 Hani.

 

I got new Hani and a Modded Uri, so my Aidolls family expanded.

I got another Sunny, 2010. She comes with original box and coa. Altho her condition was really bad, i try my best and gave her a new faceup, restring. Its getting harder to find good Aidolls, those nice ones i saw are really expensive.

Having bought another Petite Ai Gabriel back before the first lockdown!!! I finally got around to sending the head (along with a few others) to Jay Searle for a faceup, last year.... then failed to get around to repairing the resin hook that had snapped off the inside of her headcap until this weekend just gone (when I had to get out the Milliput anyway to repair a chipped buttock on a second hand body I'd bought).

Anyhow, with the headcap fixed so it will actually stay in place, little Celeste (as I'm calling her) was finally ready to be wigged, dressed and join Claudia (my Existing Gabriel), Raphael, and my other tinies :

Here's my Umbriel (Custom House Petite Ai Uriel). He is my second BJD, I got him way back in 2006.

The name "Umbriel" means "dusky, melancholy sprit". It is the name of one of the moons of Uranus. Umbriel is originally a character in Alexander Pope's poem "The Rape of the Lock".

 

Luts has got the rights to the sculpts and has released some of the heads with their own Petit Dlef bodies: lutsdoll co.,ltd.

Your Umbriel is a cute little lad.

I don't tend to know the meanings for the names I give mine - I just like the sound of them (or not in the case of some dolls who settle on a name I don't like). Raphael kept her sculpt name but neither Claudia or Celeste seemed like a "Gabriel" to me.

I have all three of them at work with me today, sitting by my keyboard, keeping me company

I know Luts makes their own versions, but the face ups are quite different from the original ones.

 

If Raphael's facup is original, she's the only one. But I don't know if it is, or not. I got her second hand some time back around 2005 or 2006.

Both of my Petites are second hand adopted in 2006, they were some of the first Yo range kids to join the Troop. I know that the Luts versions of the Ange AI sculpts is definitely different, I just presumed the Petite AI version would be as well?

 

The only one I can really comment on is Gabriel - and I haven't examined a Luts one in person but, to me, all the ones I've seen pictures of are instantly recognizable as Gabriel, even the larger Classic Ai version that they did for the Baby Delf body.

I have the Luts Honey Delf Gaby, she's close in appearance to my Gabriel but there are some differences. Not sure how the larger Luts versions compare or the CH Ange version.

I need to get a comparison with my Raphael/Raffy girls, I think.

 

But how does the Luts Gaby compare to the Custom House Gaby, is more the question.

I never thought that most of the Ange Ai sculpts looked very like their Petite Ai counterparts when Customhouse originally did them.

I don't know of anyone in person who has the Luts versions of the Petite sculpts, unfortunately, but here are the company photos for both, Luts on the left and CH on the right.

There are slight differences in the eye shape and mouth, but they're pretty close.

 

Here's a comparison of Luts Petite Uriel and my Umbriel. The sculpts appear to be quite similar, but the face ups are totally different. It would be impossible to see the Luts version with factory face up as a boy, but the original Custom House face ups were much more neutral. It seems that nowadays most factory face ups tend to look like the dolls are wearing heavy make up. It's fine with adult dolls, but I think child dolls should have softer face ups.

Yes . Too me at least, they're recognizeably Gabriel.

I keep hoping Luts will (re)release Raphael.

I always figure it is dependent on what condition the molds were in when they got them from CH. Luts did release a version of Raphael using the Raffy sculpt, which is the AngeAI version of Raphael, and it's very obviously the same mold even with different resin colors and very different faceups (unfortunately my CH girl has a custom faceup, so she doesn't show what the factory faceup was, but the sculpt is spot on). I don't have a Petite Raphael, but I adore this version, such a cheerful sculpt.

No, it wasn't a full set. CH used to have a special outfits section where they had very limited outfits.

I acquired a doll that I can't find an established chat for this specific line. And at this point, it might be impossible to start one with any engagement. She's my Aidoll Enfant Ai Cho. Their forgotten chubby 21cm sized line. I'm trying to spread around this little cutie as company and owner pics don't seem to exist of her anymore. Thought ya'll might enjoy my little Dot.

I hadn't either until I found them by chance as I was looking at the old CustomHouse/Aidolls website on the wayback machine. There's not much info on them even there. These little chubs became a grail that I finally found on Mandarake! From what I can gather, the Enfant Ai line came out in 2011 with their first sculpt Mong. Cho came out some time between 2011-2013. Enfant Ai are like the older Bebe Ai line just made a little bigger.

Petit Ai, Ange Ai, Enfant Ai, Bisou Ai, and Bebe Ai

 

Amazing. Both the Enfant and Bebe lines entirely apssed me by.

Does anyone know if Luts Petit Delf Gabriel and Customhouse Petite Ai Gabriel are the EXACT same face sculpt (not modified). Somehow they look different to me so I want to know.

 

I just compared both of my CH Gabriels to the Petit Delf pictures and I can't tell for sure

POSSIBLY they have an everso slightly more upturned nose than the Delf sculpt but I coudln't say for certain.

Thank you. To me the eyes look different, CH Gabriel's eyes look more opened and Luts is squinting a bit.

Nope, the eyes were the first thing I compared.

My girls have two different sizes of Iris and tghe one with the bigger iris looks liek her eyes are more closed than the one with smaller ones. I think, what you're seing is the difference between empty sockets and ones with eyes in them.

Poking a very old thread, but can owners of the old Petit or Ange Ai describe the resin texture? Has it ever changed in their history?
Trying to help a friend roughly guesstimate the age of the Ange Ai Uri that she picked up in Japan. The resin reminded me of Luts and I would've assumed that this was an HDF Uriel (same head sculpt as Uri) were it not for the single joined CH body

 

It’s sort of stippled feeling? Not shiny, not velvety, but it feels nice and finished and has a dull eggshell sheen to it, at least for the Ruciel I have

My Raphael is older than her and he has less texture to his resin, but there’s still a tiny bit

 

My Raphael is the oldest and has very smooth un textured resin. My two Gabirel's are more recent (in boht the body details and resin) and their resin is less smooth - not rough but it has a little texture to it that sounds like @PearlZenith described

My Custom House Petit Ai Uriel from 2006 has very smooth resin, it's actually shiny.

 

Ange Ai was first released in 2007. My Ange Ai from 2008 has fairly matte textured resin. She has a hook in her head instead of magnets. Im not sure of the age of the other 3 Anges I own as they were all bought used without boxes or CoAs, but they are all on the newer body which I think was released in 2010? Thank you all! This is helpful to know. I'd describe that Ange Ai as more eggshell like than smooth so I think it matches my hypothesis that this is a slightly later CH.
