Recently finally managed to put all my dragons together I sold one of my Darkhorns just to get another one in grey (I'm addicted? lol). New one was, according to his coa, older than my first Darkhorn... after some tlc (sanding, sueding, wiring..), a trip to the dye pot and under my brushes, Cai fits pretty well into the bunch.
I think I have a soft spot for grey/black dragons?

The rest are some Aileendoll Picos, a Plumedoll Ike and a 'She is a dragon' from Spirit Imprint.

I received my Hecate on Tues. He is fantastic although i don't know why he is considered tiny. Here he is in his special bed with some of his toys. This is an actual dog bed from IKEA for tiny dogs like Chihuahuas.

By the way, did anyone managed to get Antares, the big dragon? First preorder was limited to 5 dolls, and me and a friend both managed tto get one and found someone else on Insta who got the third. Really just curious!

 

Thank you. I knew black and bronze would be to hard to detail face of rest of body. White I worry will yellow to quickly as do like to take my dolls outside.

 

If it helps, my now 6 years old white Darkhorn hasn't yellowed a bit, and he was always on display in a rather bright room

 

I may buy a white wolf, as well as a couple of her weasels. Just depends on space in room.

 

Been wanting a Cuarto dragon for ages, but rn I'm thinking about getting a Möbius and making him Crowley from Good Omens*. Maybe black with some red-gold shimmer?


*(much less hassle than trying to find a David Tennant minimee head, also more fun to play with )

I'm so excited I found this thread, I have been drooling over Hecate for the past few weeks! Can anyone tell me if Cuarto does limited runs of her dolls or if they are pretty much expected to stay available? I'm hoping to save up and wait for this Covid stuff to pass before asking about Hecate, but I don't want to miss my chance!
Also, does anyone know if she does any sales or promotions during holidays?

I can't recall them doing a holiday sale but I could be wrong.

Had a rough day, so Orion my Bronze Drake is cheering me up and enjoying his favorite sparkly.

 

Can't remember her doing holiday sales, like... ever. She did/does do discounts when newly releasing something - Hecate was 5% off or something? And Antares 10% if I remember it right.

 

No sales, but haven't followed her for long. I do know she allows long layaways up to six months or longer. I would opt for that myself in hopes by the time the wolf was ready and paid for at least the postal system would be running better so things aren't quite as crazy as now. They are great wolves.

 

@Rosslyn - These little dragons have a great ability to help one feel better after a crappy day.

 

yeah. He's got this resin gem I bought him at last year's PNWBJD Con and it is part of the Hoard. No one can take it from him! Possessive little things for sure.

 

Thanks everyone for the input! I think I will write to her and ask about the layaway, it's a good point that things might be settled down by then. I'm hoping to get Hecate in a coppery metallic resin.

I love the dragon and his hoard! It's beautiful how many joints he has while having such fluid movement and aesthetic

Anyone remembers Antares, the huge dragon that went for sale last December? Well he's still not finished, but Cuartos working hard on finishing mine (even though I doubt he'll be done this year....). Here's a wip picture for anyone curious how really big he is:

I am hoping she will be done in time to ship home by Christmas. But other then seeing color of resin I have heard nor seen any parts since early October.

is Cuartos still making dolls? as far as I can tell they seems to have gone quiet, and that's never a particularly good sign
(I've wanted a Hecate for YEARS and it's always sad to add yet another doll to the never gnna happen list)

 

Given the current political situation in Russia and nearby countries, I wouldn't be surprised if that is on hold for them now.

 

There's a lot of Russian and Ukrainian doll makers/artisans who have gone very quiet for the last year. Understandable and very, very sad. I'm hoping Cuartos is ok and will be able to keep making their beautiful dolls well into the future.

 

I'm well aware of the ongoing situation with Russia, and the difficulties it's creating for dollmakers/artisans in the area. But I'm also not really on social media, so I was wondering if anyone had seen a recent post from them anywhere, even just a quick one saying that they're okay

I hope so too. I hope it's their own choice if they retire from dollmaking and move on to something else that brings them joy (although I'd be a little sad for all of us that love their beautiful dolls)

 

Her last update was from March 2022 :/ Even before the war her communication/posting schedule was pretty ... Sparse, to say the least. During the period where she made the big Antares dragons it took her ages (up 6 weeks) to give me and a friend updates on our boys.

That said - never posted him here! Here's my big boy - Anjuthal

 

I tried to get a wolf before the whole war mess. Sadly she didn't give me updated PP address so I sent first payment to old one. Then it was a whole mess trying to get my money back. Long story short I didn't get my money thanks to PP not my CC and I never got my wolf as then whole war thing started being suggested with Russia moving in on border. I tried to buy one I had from a friend, but they were not willing to sell. Oh well.

 

@meanae - Oh your dragon is fabulous!

I'm sorry this company is not able to produce any dolls at present.

I was fortunate to get a pair of wolves second hand a couple years ago. I need to photograph them more.

I don't believe Cuarto is still making dolls, at least not for the foreseeable future--I think that her health is not good. Her Instagram says she can't say if she'll sell dolls in the future. I do hope she's taking care of herself...

 

@meanae - Wow he's absolutely incredible!! How much does he weigh? I tend to collect bigger SDs, I think my heaviest is just over 3kg but this dragon looks double that.

@luluna - What a stunning wolf! I'd love to get my hands on one someday. Fingers crossed orders will reopen at some point.

 

He's around 4,5 kg I'd say? Cuarto printed the very big dragons with a 3D printer, because that's lighter than resin - which I'm thankful for, because he's literally an armful to handle he got a wingspan of 135cm...

It is sad that Cuarto has not been well. If they ever make dolls again I will be ordering a wolf for sure. Here is a pic of fire lizard Ydril that I took today. I have had him nearly 7 years.

Hekate is such a gorgeous doll. I really, really hope I'll be able to get one in a glittery black one day.

 

I believe I read she/he wasn't doing well on the website. Heard from a friend that it's has since closed down.


I was lucky enough to find one 2nd hand since I've always wanted a black one as well.

Does anyone in this thread happen to own a winged Darkhorn per chance? I have two with the winged options, but they’re so heavy! I’m not even sure sueding will make them poseable. Has anyone delt with this before?

 

I remember that exactly this problem was one of the reasons Cuarto started looking into making bigger dragons :,D Beside sueding you could try wiring.

 

Oh I forgot about wiring! I do have some nice heavy gauge wire sitting around I could give a good shot, thank you!
It’s really such a shame the website didn’t stay up, so much good information and gallery pictures there, although I can understand why they didn’t fight it being taken down.

Also, you’ve modded a Darkhorn before, right? I’m trying to sand some of the seams out of one of mine and despite getting up to about 2500 grit it’s still not as polished as I’d like it to be. Do you happen to have any experience sanding them? Any advice?

Update: wiring and a little sueding worked wonders, and the sanding just needed a little buffing out with a magic eraser!

 

Oh I love them. I do hope Cuarto makes bjds again one day.
