@Nieomy Now that he has a wig and clothes on it's a lot harder to tell. If you really stare at it the right eye is a bit smaller and I believe it's because there is a bit less makeup on the right eye near the waterline and lashes (lashes on the right also extend much further down). I was upset that night and some friends had also commented they didn't think it looked right which hyped me up a bit. Now that I've slept on it I'm OK. It's human to have one eye a little smaller anyway Also, I did order smaller eyes! I think it will help. I think this photo shows the difference in the right eye best. Meet Davey! I wanted a Yuri ever since Crobidoll first released him years ago. I was so happy when they announced the 2019 version. His faceup by R. Dean is also impeccable. The B line body seems like a titan compared to my other boy bodies of similar heights. Crobi’s website states he takes 16-18mm eyes, I prefer the look of 16mm (as shown). A Yuri!!!!!! how lovely is your boy! Yuri and Hobin will forever be my favorite Crobidoll sculpts (together with Red, but I don't like thinking about him because I mourn the fact I will never own one ahaha;;; ). Please share more of him when you can! He is literally to die for. Reminds me that I should -really- take some photos of my boy though, he has been a little neglected lately.
Hey, wondering if one of you lovely people can tell me how Crobi's M-line girl (specifically the maiden body)'s posing is? Bonus points for photos with said body.
i have the Chaste body, it’s pretty bad. Aesthetically it’s my fave girl body but the worst poser of my 20+ dolls. She really can’t stand and I’m always worried that her knees will crack. I only have the heeled legs but I regret not getting the flat feet.
Thanks for that, I heard similar about the M-line girls and decided to go with a different body. It's good to know that that was the right choice!
Hello, does anyone here know if crobidoll white skin matches well with Illusion Garden lace white skin?
My lance Ezra finally has a face-up, thanks to @SugarCoatedStars I'm so happy that I can finally photograph these two handsome crobi boys together, properly:
Hey friends! I'm planning on ordering a Lance sometime this summer and I'm so excited to bring one of my dream boy sculpts home. I was wondering if anyone had some pictures of the R-line Evolve body in action (especially compared to the vers. 2 body). I like the sculpting of it a ton, but I don't see a whole lot of pictures out there!
Hello friends, I am contemplating a Crobi B-line Yuri for a beloved character of mine, but I've never owned a Crobi, and I'm particularly concerned about dressing a B-line boy. His measurements seem close to SSDF, but does, say, FreedomTeller's 70cm stuff fit...? This fellow wants to wear tailored suits. I'd be grateful to hear from B-line owners about clothing choices!
I've not been active lately but managed to take some snaps of Ho-bin. @green_judy - I'm not sure about FortuneTeller exactly, but my B-line boy fits most SD17 and 70cm clothes pretty well.
Does anyone have posing advice for the M line girl bodies? I have what I'm fairly certain is the chaste body (she was purchased secondhand) and she can't sit??? I was trying to get her to sit with her legs straight in front of her, but she's extremely prone to either just falling onto her back when she's not propped up or will sometimes slide down if she is propped up. Sitting with her legs bent and dangling is also a dicey proposition, and she doesn't seem to like standing either, even with flat feet. Currently she's just sitting on the bottom shelf of my bookcase, in the corner so she has maximum support, and basically on the floor, because that seemed like the safest place for her.
Guys, I accidentally a Mandarake and now I have a Crobidoll Red Riding Hood Geroe coming my way. I literally resisted him for 3 days and then I could do it no longer XD I am so stoked for him to get here but I have nothing for him and will now not be able to purcahse anything until at least May next year >.< He gonna be nakey baldy boy for like the next 9 months! @_@ And I really want to post pics!
Does anyone else wish they had the extra cash? Crobi’s latest limited Lance dolls have me yearning so bad. A tan skin Demon Lance and the E-line Halloween Lance.
Thank you~! I absolutely adore him~! One of my favorite limited releases from Crobidoll. I missed his initial raffle sale so I was very fortunate to find someone who was wanting to transfer their pre-order.
hello folx, happy new year! i'm popping in on the off-chance that any crobi owners have both a crobi doll in tan resin and also a luts doll in either tan or light tan (not real skin brown)? i'm trying to see if either crobi tan/luts tan or crobi tan/luts light tan may be an acceptable resin match! i have a thread in photo reference here: /threads/luts-light-tan-tan-vs-crobidoll-tan.851048/ if you have any photos or insight, i would highly appreciate~
Hi! I was wondering if any of you had any photos of a blank M-line Ys or R-line Lance, I feel it might be a bit easier to find Lance since they're more popular. I'm currently trying to shell one of my grail characters
So, I just received my first SD doll last week; a Limited Crobidoll Lance. I absolutely ADORE him. He's a bit "floppier" than I anticipated but he is so beautiful and his face just speaks to my heart. He has definitely become my favorite boy and I find myself just wanting to stare at him! I feel like I don't see too many Crobidoll around. I wanted to discuss with others who have a Crobidoll and if you feel the same pull I do? What drew you to Crobidoll? I first became aware of them through the Otome game, Nameless, and just couldn't get it out of my head. I'm so glad I followed through with that feeling! He is beautiful! I love the Lance sculpt
I'm still at a loss for what to do with my M line girl (chaste body, I think?). She does not balance even a little bit, even when sitting. She's currently sitting on the lowest shelf on my bookcase, supported by walls on both the side and behind her, but if I even move the doll next to her that's bracing her other side, she slides down onto her back. What? How? How do I fix this?
Is it her stringing? Elastic can lose its tension over time and will no longer be able to support the doll or hold it tightly enough.
Oh that’s entirely possible! I’d never really considered it as I’ve had dolls recently that couldn’t really sit because of weird engineering choices and I assumed this might be more of the same. Will look into it!
*drops in, posts a photo of genderswapped Lance* 13 years with me. Still as lovely as on the day of her arrival.
I love Lance too - such a fantastic sculpt. I enjoy what everyone else has done with their boy Lances, but I could only ever see a girl in that face... but an androgynous one and a particular kind of girl archetype/trope. So that's what my girl Syr is now.
Absolutely! My Lance, Dimitri, is male but I give him a very androgynous look. I feel like that particular sculpt lends to such!
This is a LONG shot, but if there are any old-timers here who remember Crobi's history... I'm looking up the release history of Daydream Lance, the very original version released by Crobidoll back in ... I want to say 2011? 2012? My question: When Crobi first released limited Daydream Lance, did he come in normal skin or "soft white" skin? (Soft white was limited edition at first.) Was there an option of skintone? Thanks in advance - I'm hoping that the DoA brains trust will come through for me!
@aihre : The first version was released May 2009, according to the Internet Archive: Lance ~Day Dream~ Limited, and was only in NS and limited to 30! Version 2 was 2010 - Heart Queen version, in Sherbet White (limited to 2), and then again in 2011 in NS as a time limited. Good luck in your search!
Thank you so much for digging through Archive for those! I was under the impression that white-skinned DD Lance had more releases, but I might've been mistaken... maybe more were released later? I'll keep looking, thank you~
Hi @aihre - I've been looking for similar info too about the newer releases of LanceDD, and it's tough since their website change over, even the standard Lance with the artist collabs are hard to find now... but, there was a LanceDD release in 2020 for "Wisteria" faceup, and they offered milk white, normal and cookie cream that time. Dolk's site still has the old ad up, plus some others, but I know Dolk's sales might not always coincide with the factory releases since they do special collabs as well. a lot of the old ads do not give the sale period sadly. my LanceDD is a cookie cream, and has a birthday in 2023, but the new site doesn't seem to keep the limited sale records that well. I have no idea how I missed this sale originally, I got him second hand. I hope I can figure out how to get more future notice for the cookie cream resin especially, I'd love to get him a body in the CC tone. it's very hard to find any comparisons of this resin tone. I love him in the milk and soft whites too I hope they do another sale period sometime soon, I've only the standard Lance in a soft white so far.
@Grimalkin Yes, it's sad and a bit frustrating that so much of this old information is now lost with website changes and such. I'm looking far back in Crobi's history about Daydream Lance because, as far as I know, there are two versions. The original version was released during the "Crobidoll - Cross Ambition" days - it has a closed mouth and is basically the same as the normal Lance sculpt, save with dreaming eyes. The second version has teeth sculpted in, and is the current version of DD Lance available in Dolk collaborations, etc. I want a DD Lance as an alt head for my very old soft-white Lance girl, but for personal and aesthetic reasons, I want the original closed-mouth, not the open-mouth. I'm trying to track the history and figure out when the releases changed over to the open-mouthed version, so I can vet secondhand sales. I don't mind getting a white-skinned one that doesn't quite match my girl's skintone, but I refuse to have one with teeth.
Hi @aihre - ooh yes, I can imagine that's tough, it's very hard to tell about the version, my COA doesn't say 1 vs 2, just R line, but he is Ver2 with the little teeth. The Dolk site shows the Wisteria version as Ver1, so you might get lucky there. I wonder if Crobi would answer you about it in their Q&A forum given the website changes? in case it's interesting, the teeth are not very defined, you might be able to do a light fill with PVA glue for closed lips appearance, if it comes to that. I hope you can find the one you want
@Grimalkin Thank you, I hope I find a closed-mouth Daydream Lance. Unfortunately modding the sculpted-teeth version isn't going to fly. I have personal, admittedly irrational reasons for refusing to own any kind of open-mouthed/toothed doll, and I'll always know what is underneath any mod. May I ask - how different is cookie cream from soft white? It seems that cookie cream has a browner tone? I'd love to see a comparison between your Lances if possible!
I understand - no worries! I swear more of him than I care to admit have slipped through my fingers in the second hand market, I'm somehow always just a little late, so I was very happy to finally catch one, but... the resin is very unique. it is a really beautiful colour, like a very soft pale grey brown. I can take a picture of them together, no problem. my soft white is from 2022, been in the box the whole time but he might be a little mellowed. the hard part is lighting, I have to dig out my soft box so it might take me a little bit to get a good shot.
@aihre - just a tiny update, and so sorry to have to say that I'm having some trouble locating my soft white Lance. I've had to pack up a lot of things to paint the room, thought I'd be done by now LOL and meanwhile unlabelled boxes got jumbled around . I'm also missing the cute little NaNa boots I got in the same order from Crobi, hoping they are together. found the soft box light at least . meanwhile, if there's another maker WS resin that's similar to the soft white you would want to see with the cookie cream, I can check if I have similar, just let me know.
@Grimalkin No worries ^^ Do you have Dollstown/Dollshe old fresh skin? It's identical to Crobi soft white (my girl is hybrided on a DT body and the colour match is practically perfect). This old freshskin dates from around 2008-2017, before Dollshe/DT changed the formula in 2017 to something more pink-hued. So if you have old fresh skin, or something in your collection that is close to that, it should be suitable for a Crobi soft white dupe. Thank you again, and if you can't manage it, not a problem at all. As I said it's mostly for my curiosity, but maybe it can help with hybriding too.
@aihre - good news! I found the missing boy, and also a Dollshe Mystic 2017 Fresh. my lighting is terrible, I apologize in advance. I can tell you neither Lance matches the DS Fresh. DS Fresh is pinker than the WS and the Cookie Cream is like a tan-grey. A slightly pinker toned faceup would be easy to match a WS to the DS Fresh. I am unsure of the WS I have is what's called "soft white", the COA just says "white" and I would class it as creamy like Doll Chateau/Doll Zone and not as yellow as my Soom cream white (which might be age of the Soom). this pic seems to show the best what I see with my eye. I have more of the head with the body, if you or anyone else wants to see them. Was interesting to see the DD head was larger overall then the standard OE Lance. The white background shows the cookie cream tone better than the grey in my other pics.
Thank you so much Grimalkin, that's a great comparison. The Dollshe/Dollstown vs. Crobi comparison makes sense to me. I understand that Dollshe/Dollstown freshskin after 2017 is more pink-toned, while pre-2017 freshskin is more yellow-toned/creamy. My Lance girl has practically perfect match to her Dollstown body -- both parts are around 2008-2010 vintage so that wouldn't work now. Cookie cream is so interesting. It has that strong grey tone with a touch of brown. I'm now wondering whether a very pale grey body might work for resin matching/hybriding, since there are more grey-skinned dolls being made nowadays. Withdoll and Switch are offering grey on the regular, so maybe a bit of strategic faceup can help to blend the brown-grey of cookie cream to a grey body? It might not work so well though - maybe a very light tan is better... Can't talk about my Lance girl without sharing pics... here's Syr.
my "ancient" Lance which has a faceup is often on a Doll Chateau A-body-02 - both are very "mellow yellowed" so they work for the cookie cream boy, I too had been considering a very light grey and toning toward the brown tone as well, since so many tans have that orange undertone. finding this in the right shoulder ratio, well that's the challenge, eh? I was surprised how small both heads looked on the Mystic since they look so large on most everything else. there's a couple on my flickr, one of each head while holding the other. guess they'll be body shopping So nice to see your Syr, her wig goes so nicely with her faceup. something about the little pinky finger arched out on the magazine too, just perfect
Yeah, I think you may have better luck finding a match with a grey body than a tan one. Talking about colour temperature (warm vs cool colours), cookie cream looks pretty cold in temperature, and I think most tan bodies would be too warm. The only tan I can think of that may come close is Switch's milktea rose - I have a MTR-matching doll (ie. it has no Switch parts but is made by a company that resin-matches to MTR, there are a few out there) and the tan is quite dusty and cool. It may still be too warm and saturated for cookie cream, but probably worth a look. I can take comparison photos between my soft white Lance and that doll if you like. Lance on Dollshe Mystic, oh dear the shoulders are getting wide but I think the neck thickness is the main issue. If you want him more realistic proportioned, I think he looks best on 64-68cm -- IIRC Crobi's R-Line body is 66cm tall. But the neck thickness has to suit. And thank you, I'm glad you like Syr I commissioned her faceup and asked the artist to match that exact wig. She gives me a lot of joy, after all these years I still feel really lucky to have a Lance.
