Crescent Shop Questions

Jan 24, 2006

    1. I searched thought the forum and didn't find the excat answer I was looking for.

When buying from Crescent Shop and you bid on more than one item from different users will they wait for everything to arrive and send it to you in one package. Or do you have to pay shipping for each item.

Also, I read that for the Unoa Pre-Order that the EMS was a flat shipping fee of $15 USD, does that apply for all their items or just for this Pre-Order. Also how much are the fees, do they depend on what you are getting are are they the same for everything?

      Thanks

    2. They hold everything till they've all arrived and ship in one package. Alternatively you can select certain items to ship that have arrived in the warehouse while waiting for others I believe.

For the $15.00 shipping fee that applies for that pre-order.
The fees depend on the final price of the item, and are listed on the website.

    3. Thank you! *goes on shopping spree*

    4. I am using Crescent Shop's auction deputy service for the first time. I'm confused about something, and hoping someone might be able to clue me in.

I have bid on two auctions, and won both. I understand that the user's auction page on CS does not refresh real-time, but rather once a day. It has finally refreshed to where both my auctions are showing up as having ended, and both say "won". When I go to pay, however, there is a little click box in front of only one of the auctions, not the other. I'd like to pay for both at the same time. Is there a reason that only one has the box you click for "pay"? The only thing I can think of is that the one without the pay box is for a very small item, which will be more than covered in its entirety by my deposit. Or is it that the pay box for that auction just hasn't appeared yet?

    5. Yeah, it just hasn't appeared yet. Maybe give it a day or two and it'll show up. <:

    6. Thank you so much, Devil's Trill! I was confused since I thought the payment screen would refresh at the same time as the list screen. I'll give it some time. :)

    7. An auction won't be payable until Crescent has paid for the auction themselves. This means that if the seller flakes and doesn't contact Crescent, or starts to behave in some unprofessional way, Crescent doesn't pay for the auction, and you don't have to either.

Crescent is the only shopping service who does this.

    8. Hi!
I have a quick question about Crescent Shop's deposit. I did a search and only came across a somewhat answer briefly explained in another thread but, my question is:

If I have a deposit of $100 in the Crescent system and and bid, and let's presume to say, win an item about 30,000 yen. After I pay the fees, shipping, and have received my item and such can I have my $100 deposit refunded back to me? Or does the refund only work for an auction that has been lost?

Thanks to anyone for clearing this up for me!:D:D

    9. The short answer is, yes :D

You can have your refund back anytime, as long as your auction payments are all cleared.

    10. Awesome!:D:D Thank you soo much for clearing that up for me!:) I felt a little silly asking about it but I didn't want to be out a $100 somehow...

      Thank you! XD

    11. Or you can leave it and use it to bid on something else, but I got it back as I needed the money! :)

    12. Hey everyone :)

I've been stalking an auction on Y!J for a few days now, and there are 22 hours left. When is the best time to actually place my offer so I have a good chance of winning it? Is it real time, or do I say I want it and they bid for me?

      Thank you! :aheartbea
(I got this, I just need the next part now~)

      edit;;

Ah, I forgot to ask about deposits. Do I actually have to deposit money to them before I bid? I don't want to bid over a certain price, so how do I calculate that? I don't want to go over $515... so do I deposit $500? Or?

    13. I usually bid on something when I see to discourage others from bidding, it usually works. Also all bidding is done in real time, so your bid will show up after you place it.

    14. I just don't want to bump the price up too much :sweat Would it be a good idea to bid now, and just bid again if other people start bidding? There are 2 bids so far.

    15. It might sound like skimming it really close but I would start bidding maybe an hour, 30-20 minutes before the auction ends maybe even closer like 15-10 minutes, it just depends on how comfortable you are with bidding so close to the end:) This is advice learned from my boyfriend who just loooves to snipe auctions he is bidding on, which I hate. But you know? Anything to win the auction if it is truly something you want:D:D

This way the price doesn't get bumped up, hopefully, by too much and with Yahoo's automatic extension any bidding beyond 10 minutes or so pretty much wins you your item granted that the person on the other end isn't pushing refresh every few seconds like some do on ebay--but don't hold me to that! lol XD

      Hope that helps any :3

    16. Thank you :) I've always wondered what the automatic extension is... it just extends the auction for a few minutes then, or?

    17. From what I understand, and I am quoting this from Y!J,

So I was wrong when I said 10 minutes left, as the quote says it is 5. Though you can definitely try for 10 minutes if you reaaally want to make sure you win or maybe even try 7-6 minutes left to the end of the auction if you are feeling adventurous! XD

I know the times sound so close to the end of the auction that it is scary but this is how I usually win. *ducks because she doesn't snipe with 15sec to go like her BF*

And hopefully if the other bidder isn't too tenacious and keeps bidding to extend the auction (which I don't see that happening) you should be in the clear:)

Good luck on your auction! I hope you win!:D:D

    18. Oooh I understand! Thank you so much! :aheartbea

I just have to figure out deposits now :sweat

    19. I probably shouldn't bump this so early, but I need an answer about deposits before I sleep, so up it goes.

    20. There is a deposit chart on Crescent about how much you need to deposit based on how much you want to bid. Its kind of like insurance for them... that way if you dont go through with paying for your won item, they have a deposit from you...

      Heres the Chart

    21. Are they two separate things, though? I don't have enough to deposit $500 and THEN pay another $500... do they take it from the deposit if i win?

I'm looking at the chart; I need to deposit 45,080yen if I want to have a bid limit of $500. So I only deposit $100? This is confusing :sweat

    22. From what I remember, yes they do take it from the deposit if you win.
I bought something more expensive than my deposit and only had to pay the balance.

    23. and dont forget crescent charges fees as well.

    24. Ah okay, so you can bid more than the deposit, as long as you pay the difference? I think I'm getting this now.

    25. yes...
if you deposit, lets say $200 you would be able to bid up to 100,000 JPY (aprox $1,040).
The deposit is approximately 5 times less than what you waht to bid.
So determine how much you need to spend and divide it by 5. Thats what you need to deposit.

    26. Okay, I did it! I put in $100, and I have a bidding limit of 50,000. I hope I don't need to use it all, since the auction is at 37,000 now, but we'll see.

Thank you guys SO much! :aheartbea

    27. 37,000 is about $386... so youll have to pay the difference if you win. balance is due 14 days after the auction ends.

      good luck!! <3

    28. Actually... > < the information you were given with about the deposit and time limit for payment is unfortunately not true... :sweat

Just letting you know that as a crescent-shop user, you cannot use the deposit to use as payment for an item. It's completely separate and you only have 7 days to pay for auction winnings. You can refund the deposit only after you have paid for the item in full.

    29. That's okay, as long as I get the deposit back :) Thank you!

    30. And to add to the automatic extension info...

The extension doesn't just happen once, I think there is some limit where afterwords it no longer goes on extension but it can be 30 minutes of extension. (I know from personal experience.)

It's supposed to discourage sniping, but it doesn't.

    31. I don't understand how to order through Crescent Shop - it always just directs me back to the main login page when I try to search :( Can anyone help please? (I'm actually only trying to search to see if they have something, I'm not actually trying to order right now... no monies >_<)

    32. They don't keep things in stock -- they're a shopping service. On their website, you describe the item you want by making an inquiry, and they then charge you according to how expensive it will be for one of their agents to purchase the item at its physical location.

You can read more here: http://www.crescent-shop.com/shopping/shopping02.htm

    33. crescent shop isn't an actual shop, its just a shopping service or middle man if you want.

You can bid on auctions through them or shop using them. I've never used them for shopping though, only auctions... but they do have fees and the have their own yen to dollar conversion that is weaker to the actual yen to dollar. right now crescent has 87y=1d were its really 93y=1d ...

    34. I know it's a shopping service, but surely they have somewhere they say what they will do the service for?

      Oh wells, never mind.

    35. Nope! That's the beauty of it -- they'll get anything that's readily available in Japan. Anything you want. That would be a mighty big list for their website. :)

    36. No, not the fees :sweat

And ok, thank you for the answers everyone :) I think I understand now.

    37. How do I know when they get the payment? It has been so long since I used them I have forgotten if it's instant or not.

    38. Hi there, I was wondering if someone could please help point me in the direction of cresent shopping service's fees page? I can't seem to find it anywhere and don't want to place a bid until I know how much to calculate in for shipping and their fees. :sweat They've changed everything so much since the last time I checked out their site. There's an auction I'd like to bid on that ends in 3 days, so I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks so much!

    39. Ah, thank you so much! :) For some reason half of the menu is greyed out on my browser and it won't allow me to click them. :o I think I'll see if using another browser will fix that.

Ahaha, oh boy, their fees page is more confusing than I remember. :sweat

    40. So I bought an item via crescent shop...

but I'm not sure whether it's yahoo! jp or what??!?

and I don't know how to pay for it!

I've tried asking them questions but they just direct me to a page that doesn't help!

      I am just too confused!

      Could someone help me out??

    41. Have you read their very helpful FAQ?

Did you bid on an auction, or did you find something in a webshop and ask Crescent to buy it for you? If the former, it's from Y!J, if the latter it's not.

      Happy reading!

    42. okay, I did end up reading the FAQ.

I still have some ?'s about the deposit fee...

Can you get refunded for it say if you only pay an auction worth a small portion?
Or is it added to the final price? I really don't get it.

The FAQ helps, but not as much as I would like.

    43. The deposit, to my recollection, is not put toward the cost of paying for an auction or purchased item. You have to make a separate payment, and if you're not planning on bidding on or buying anything else right now you can request that they refund your deposit, which they will.

    44. okay, thank you so much!

Could I still get a refund if I bought an item?
Like if I'm not planning to buy anything more for a while?

It seems like such a waste of 50$ if I'm only going to use a small portion...

    45. The same thing happens when you have paid for a won auction - i.e. instances when you no longer owe Crescent money - you can choose to refund your deposit by pushing the nifty "Refund" button.

    46. There was an auction I was dying to bid on and rinyka wouldn't let me (found out later my deposit needed to be upped -gee it would be nice if their decline message would tell you that when you try to do it, but no). In the end it was easier to make a purchase through Crescent. The auction is won, by me, well not really it was BIN.

Anyways, how do I pay them? I don't even remember which card I used to open an account with them (I've never used their service before, I thought at one time I wanted to get a unoa so I signed up a long while back, but changed my mind).

With rinkya once you win everything is automated so you jwsut press a button complete the payment and voila!

So anyways, do I wait for an invoice or email or is there somewhere on their site to go to pay them, or not yet. I've been up and down their FAQ and terms and can't figure it out.

    47. Did the auctions just finish recently? I haven't ordered in awhile but there usually is a pay button but it doesn't show up until Crescent recieves the items... :)

    48. Yes, it was yesterday. good to know I'll just be patient then...

    49. Still no paymetn box, should I be worried? They say you have 7 days after they've paid for the auction to pay them or you're penalized.

Gah! I've been in this hobby for so long and feel like such a noob right about now.

    50. I don't think you need to worry, I once had the payment box show up about 2 weeks after the auction ended, it seemed it took them very long to complete the transaction with the seller. I think what they mean is actually to pay in 7 days after the payment box appears.

    51. After the auction is payable you have 7 days until you get a e-mail reminding you to pay for the auction. You have 7 days after the e-mail to pay, if you don't there will be fees added.

    52. Thanks for the info. i will be patient. We are going on something like 11 days now since the auction was over.

    53. Hello all, I have a question regarding Crescent Shop. I know that in the past I used crescent shop to pre-order a Unoa, and now when I try to access the site it says that the connection to crescent-shop.com is untrusted, and my comp wont allow me to access it (I dont know if it's just a problem with my MacBook or something). When I search for Crescent shop I also get the option for Noppin.com, and I see that there are some Unoa updates on the sites home. Is this the site I need to register for to get Unoa Pre-order updates and information now? Thanks to anyone who might be able to help.

    54. Crescent changed the name to Noppin. So yes you'd need to register there.

    55. Noppin now handles all the Yahoo! Japan auctions and shopping service parts of the old Crescent Shop, but they also set up a side-store for Unoa stuff: http://noppin.ocnk.net/

(Yes, they're legit. I've just bought from them some Unoa parts, no problem at all)

Please notice, however, that they're currently having an UnoAne preorder from the main Noppin site, not the unoa minisite.
