Alternate title โ the reason I was late back to work after my lunch break! A box opening in two parts. Using her magic powers, Creature Doll Guardian Phyllis traveled half way around the world in only two days โ having shipped May 31, arriving June 2. Literally the biggest doll box ever โ bigger than my microwave! As I took this picture, I noticed the โThis Side Upโ sticker pointing down :/ Cheeseballs! j/k I like that the doll box was well protected from scuffsโฆ. I have an unhealthy love of nice boxes. I blame this hobby. So glad certificates of authenticity are standard these days too.. Nice posing! Now a lot of times I see people say things like โoh my doll is too loosely strungโ and I usually donโt pay much heed like eh thatโs just nick pickyโฆ.. but not this timeโฆ. She really is super loosely strung! Can still hold a pose anyway. I have never had a doll with such.... detail oriented breast sculpts. Then Toddler noticed Mom was Doing Something and had to come help. โBaby. Nakedโ So then we dressed mommyโs new โbabyโ but alas! Her sleeve things require removal of her hands! Thatโll have to wait till later. Onto the next box!
Bubbles! OMG so many bubbles! As I took this pic, tiny toddler hands snagged one of the bundlesโฆ Add wig! Erhmmm not super impressed with the wig. Decided to just open one shoe for now then I headed back to work. Husband inspected if it was too big. Definitely a platform shoe! And now part two! Toddler is asleep so time to check out the armor! OMG. I canโt tell you the tiny heart attacks I had, knowing she was loosely strung and could fall at any moment. Time to restring, put on the sleeves of our outfit, and get our shoes on.
Say what? Why does the inside of her head have multiple ways to rest her S hook?โฆ.*shrug* Is that an S hook in her pelvis? Oh ho it is! Man, BJDs have sure evolved in the past four years since Iโve last had a new oneโฆ Side note โ I looked for my dowel rod, but it was mysteriously missing (ahem tiny toddler) so I used two toothpicks โ and it was great! The groove between the two toothpicks holds the s hook steady as I hook and unhook her feet/hands. After figuring out all the different ways to put her together wrong she is finally assembled! Behold! The Guardian has arrived. I was able to tighten the elastic inside her torso, but I never could locate the knot to tighten her legs? Kind of nervous to take her all apart to find itโฆIโve never had a doll with legs on a separate piece of elastic before. So her legs are still loosey goosey. Iโve been in the hobby since 2009, but she is my first ever complete fullset (the next closest one is my Souldoll Iraki V3, which was complete except I did not get the faceup or blushing.) Sheโs also my first new doll in four years (Iโve only been buying the occasional second hand older dolls.) Iโm very impressed with the quality of her resin and the sophistication of her joints. The armor is held together by magnets that were pre-installed and while it makes me nervous, I think itโs secure. I do not feel good about the bottom of her shoes being completely slick, so definitely add some cork or rubber or some other kind of sole to her shoes is on my to-do list. Iโm also not impressed with the quality of her eyes or wig, so those will be replaced soon too. Definitely needs some kind of natural hair wig, so it can blow about in her magic wrath! I pointed out Saireth (thatโs her name now) to Toddler this morning, and her said โBad Guy.โ Her eye makeup is a bit heavier than her company photos alluded to, and her hair is browner as well, but everything else is exactly as pictured. Iโll post some posing and comparison pics in another gallery thread soon! Thanks for looking, time to go play!
Wow, what a gorgeous doll! I really like her fullset; all the detailing in the armour is impressive. Congrats on her speedy arrival!
Everything about her is beautiful! Her armor painting is particularly lovely. Congratulations on her arrival!
She looks great in any case, and I like the look of these joints so far! I'm quite interested in the way her legs are strung as well, but I'll be finding out on Monday, I guess. ^_^ As for the notches in her head, Iplehouse started having those extra settings a while back - they give you a larger range of motion for raising and lowering the head. Makes me wonder if this was the artist who started that. Congrats!
Gorgeous doll! That's some impressive armor, too. Although I have seen other dolls with their legs strung separately, she's the first one I've seen with an S-hook in her pelvis. I hope the Lucia I ordered doesn't arrive loose, because I don't relish trying to restring her. I was going to mention the notches in her head but I see @Sianserais beat me to it. It looks like she has the Iplehouse ankles; it's too bad the sculptor didn't come up with something different. Her dress reminds me of the Elemental Guardian Aurora dress, although thank goodness without the transparent panel in the front. I wonder if he worked on Aurora while he was at Iplehouse. Congrats on her arrival. I look forward to lots more photos!
Aaa, she is totally awesome! I'm glad you got her! \o/ Are there any particular eyes you're thinking about getting her? And what size? :0
So gorgeous! That armor and outfit is so beautifully detailed. She really is like a fantasy character come to life.
@Youzen thank you! I like the shiny quality of the armor, it was worth purchasing the armor painting! @sakana_hime thank you! @Leeloo she certainly is full of adventure! Thanks! Oh! Good to know! Thank you! I had to look up Elemental Guardian Aurora and ugh! What is that sheer panel!? Terrible! The lace on Phyllis' dress surprised me as it is sheer, but not THAT sheer... her feet tend to flop about, but so far I've assumed it a stringing issue rather than a sculpt issue. Thanks! The site says she takes 10mm and I want something vibrant and magical! A contrast to her dark eyeshadow. @bickazer thank you! I particularly like all the tiny chains and bling she sports
Congrats on the new doll! I marveled over this set on the company site, and it's great to see more pics!
Ooooh, what a nice set. That armor is just so awesome, and the dress too. The shoes seem like a nice design, it's a shame they're so slippery! I look forward to seeing her in different wigs since there is definitely something off about her original one, too.
@Kittzel Thank you! Yes the company pics are sooo gooood and so is she! @Anneko Thank you! @Mutation I ordered three wigs today
@Kaname Kimura thank you! @animemom thanks @I.R.Kitsune thanks! Yes I'm very impressed with the quality of her outfit and accessories @Noelblue thanks!
I am super sad I am 4 years too late to order from Creature Doll so thank you for sharing your box opening!! The quality of everything - minus wig and eyes - is amazing!
I am super sad too. Phyllis was one of the first dolls released, and the artist was so nice, he later sent me replacement elastic that was better quality, and his dolls were so imaginative and thoughtful. The next closest doll artist to what he was doing is Sartoriaj IMHO.
Awww that is awesome! Yeah, I want to order some stuff from Sartoriaj but I need the money first. I collect elves so anytime I see an elf I go OOOOOHHH and have to research and decide who gets to come join my odd band of elves haha!
