CP & Fairyland Doll Project For Display At Comic-Con

Jul 15, 2011

1. If Luts only owns the rights to the Delf sculpts and bodies that have already made and not to anything else, then Fairyland would have already had CP make a 60cm doll for them to sell. There would be no possibility of a lawsuit. If Luts owns the rights to CPs 58-60cm dolls with that particular aesthetic, then its a different kettle of fish. The Delfs are a BIG money maker for Luts, and they're not about to let Fairyland take that money maker off them - especially if they release a 58-60cm doll which is the SAME aesthetic as a Delf.

Feeple70s were originally the prototype doll for the Delfs, CP is quite open about that. They share the same construction on the shoulders, knees and hips. If you look at an F70 female, you'll see what the "type 3" Delf girl would have looked like, with the same knees as a type-3 male Delf. But 70cm dolls are not everyone's cup of tea. Selling the F70 is not going to take owners away from the 60cm Delf.

Minifees are the same - they're a smaller version of the 60cm, yes. But if you remember, Luts sold the Minifee too at one stage, before Fairyland was created to sell CPs works. Unlike the 60cm, CP had not sold the rights to the Minifee, so they were able to take them from Luts and move them to Fairyland. Again, while the MNF are massively popular, Luts has no rights to complain. (plus, people still I would think, buy more 60cms than anything else.)

Thus we come to the F65. They are a completely different aesthetic to the F70s, Delfs and Minifee - much more like a bigger Chic-line. Their bodies are more realistic, the proportions are different, and their jointing is VERY different. CP has already said they spent years creating this doll. F65s also take a different, more realistic style head. There is no similarities between the F65's chunky build - which is more Iplehouse in proportion - and the Delf/F70 slim anime style. Again, a 65cm chunky doll is not going to take sales off Luts with the Delf, simply because again, its not everyone's taste.

If Fairyland then sell a basic version of a Delf - 58-60cm, same aesthetic etc, they are taking sales off Luts - even if it simply has an updated body. They will be making Luts loose money. Therefore - lawsuit.

2. but who is to say it is a modified delf?
It's just another 53cm doll that they're putting out in their style.
It's not a delf.

they make small adjustments here and there and it's no longer a delf, it's a new 53cm doll and there's nothing anyone can do.

ETA: I don't know if they'll be putting this out as a delf or not, obviously. I'm just playing devils advocate.

3. *fingers crossed*

4. I have to agree with you on it being a new doll.

5. HOWEVER! ... teaparty you may have a point. Maybe part of the reason that FL is scrambling to say that they're not saying anything about this release is because this head is on what FL sees as a new and improved delf body? mayhaps?

they want time to sort it out with luts before they say anything?

6. I dunno about all the lawsuit stuff... but if she's a MNF I NEED her full set... I just do... hahahaha

7. Because CP wanted to peruse other avenues. As a sculpting group, they take pride in doing things that are new and different.

http://dollfairyland.tistory.com/68

It's all in the blog if you do enough digging.

Edit: Wanted to add this, too:
Can we stop the bickering now and get back to admiring this beauty and being excited about the upcoming event? :)

Still hopeful for a 60cm -ranged size doll~

8. I don't get what the feeple65 thing has to do anything??
where is that quote pulled from?

9. http://dollfairyland.tistory.com/94
That's where the quote is from. I quoted it because they're talking about how they've put out the Feeple 65s, despite knowing that many customers are waiting for a Feeple 60.

Perhaps this says it best:

Taken from: http://dollfairyland.tistory.com/68

They just want to be different, innovative. Maybe it will be a doll in the more 50cm range :) The shoulder joints haven't been on any dolls aside from the Feeple 70 and the Delf lines.

10. They also say in that same post that we should look foward to an SD sized soon, that they're working on it, but put the chicline out first.

:) this could very well be it.
to me it makes sense with them holding back information on this one :D it's probably their biggest release yet.

11. I'm trying. I spoke to Justin this morning, and he has no clue. I searched through the Around The Booths document, nothing. I'm all for a buzz, but there are 1100 exhibitors at our show, and the aisles are very crowded. If people don't know where to look, they could miss it, especially if they're somewhere like the Art Show instead of the Exhibit Hall. I've got an email out to them asking for info, but so far no reply.

12. I really hope so! I can't really see them putting out another MSD scale doll body, since they have the MNF lines and the Chiq lines already. :D It has to be an SD scale doll, or just below SD scale. Still holding out my hope that'll be regular SD scale :whee:

13. Just saw this! That doll looks really neat. Really like the unique style, will be waiting for the information to be updated. :)

14. Well this doll project is a combo of CP and Fairyland, so it is probably a combo of body parts as well. She looks like Delf Small Boob body, Feeple65 arms because of the elbow joints, and her legs are a mystery because of the long like dress, but her feet look like either Delf girl or Feeple65 girl flat feet. AND they won't answer any questions about this doll, so we have no choice but to wait until after Comic Con and see what happens. I do love this speculation on her body and such, but this was just my opinion on her from what I can see so far.

15. Fairyland is just the company who sells the dolls... they don't make any themselves.

16. I believe fairyland casts the dolls.
So they do make them, they just don't sculpt the originals - someone correct me if i'm wrong.

17. Judging from a first glance. I thought that she would be a mature look MNF. But looking at her shoulder joint, she has Feeple 70 shoulder joint, well, still I kinda think she's a MNF as she doesn't look tall in the pictures (in my opinion).

Could Fairyland re-scrupt their MNF body???

Any size she would be, she's a gorgeous mold and it would be great if Fairyland would launch her to the market.

18. That would certainly be interesting, wouldn't it? I would be sad, though, as I love the body she is on...I think I would like to see more photos of her!

19. I think this girl is lovely, imginative and fascinating! She does look taller than an MSD to my eye though. I would say at least 55cm. That is a pity because I have vowed never to buy a larger than MSD doll. But she is lovely enough to almost tempt me...

I would love it if Fairyland would move towards a more realistic style! This girl could give give Iplehouse a run for its money in realism and beauty.

20. Somehow her being on display at Comic-con rings a bell....reminding me of DOD Tan/Elf Luke and him being an OOAK :(
She looks really beautiful, and I hope FL doesn't make her OOAK though >.<

21. Yeah !!! pls take pics and as much as possible pls

22. She could be OOAK since it is (C) Victoria Frances, but then again, her work is everywhere! x'D

I would love her face sculpt a little better if the lips where just a teeny tiny bit more parted, showing some teeth maybe?

I might get her wig, eyes and cloth, but I don't have the need for this doll (Yet), BUT! If she and her "new" body becomes basic and Fairyland does new face-sculpts that I like better, I might consider getting one (This is what I say about F65 too, because I hate the Chloe face sculpt x'D)

Would still love to see pictures of her :) I think they did a great job in doing Victoria's girl ^__^

23. well, I've got Chloe FL65 and like her face.

Concerning new FL doll .... the eyes you can buy here on DOA http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...11;▋▋▋-9.59-Glass-Doll-Eyes , the wig is available on Luts or Leeke website, the cloth you can sew by yourself or buy on http://www.antiquelilac.com/forest-fairy---gallery.html from Martha Boers so you don't need to buy anything from FL :)

I don't undestand you. Which company will create special doll just for you ? But okay, everyone can voice his opinion.

I'm wondering whether to buy this doll because she is very well done and finally I want to buy the full package.

24. UGH - 5 days to wait before anyone tells us what size this beauty is ... why does FL torture us this way? Why can't they at least tell us the size?!?
And really, what would be the point of showing her to us if she's just gonna be a OOAK piece - that's just mean spirited :(

Seriously, I'm mentally rearranging my dolly plans all in the HOPES she'll be released and in the 50cm range. I even photoshopped her a bit. Don't get me wrong, I love her look but outside of one or two pics posed in her fairy outfit, those eyebrows won't work for me soooo:

25. I particularly love the eyebrows! I think they're beautiful, plus they give her the expression that goes with the tears!

ETA: I'm referring to the original, not the previous poster's "improvement".

26. I don't disagree - as I said, "I love her look" and I'm a huge fan of VF, just won't work for me (neither does the bloody tear) to each her/his own;)

27. I'm not understanding why anyone thinks CP has any obligation to do anything except post a couple of photos of an awesome one of a kind doll that they are showing at a convention. As far as I can tell, it's just a way to let more people see one of Sunny Day's really cool custom dolls. :? It's a one off. That's what Sunny Day does. I have never seen one of her dolls turned into a more widely available quantity limited doll fullset.

28. tongue in cheek - grief

29. Wow. Is it my imagination or are people just being exceptionally snarky. Why not just respect other people's opininons and not have to resort to " " just to tromp on someone's feelings. My good old southern momma taught me that if you can't say something nice then don't say anything.

And there is nothing wrong with hope and speculation. Oh yeah, *flamesuit engaged*

30. I think she is super pretty in the original pics and the photoshop pics (the original eyebrows weren't working for me either!). I am curious to see what size she is whether she becomes available to the masses or not.

31. [IMG]

Here is my version :P What I would like her to look like... (My Photoshop skill isn't that good I know...)
I would like her to have more and longer blood tears, but failed at making them longer x'D

32. Whether she is a OOAK or not, I am going to agree with:

She is very pretty and I hope she makes more people interested in FL/CP dolls as well as the hobby itself. :)

33. what's wrong with your photoshop skills? I think you did a great job and look ... teethies !!!

34. I would have liked to add some more, but that just looked stupid x'D I'm quiet happy with the teeth too 8D If I get this doll she WILL have this mod X3 I love her like that! So cute! :3 (*Fallen in love with this doll*)

35. Nice work, I really like the look of it - it'll be interesting none the less, regardless of if she's released or not :)

36. I've been going through a great deal of stress lately, and I fear I came off sounding rather curt yesterday. I truly apologize if I've been anything but civil and courteous. :sorry

*ponder* I guess a Delf/Feeple 65 hybrid body is possible too, though she has new hands, and the arms are perfectly proportioned to that body. The arms of the Delf girl body are totally different, simple single-jointed. It'd take a total re-cast, and a lot of tweaking to get them looking that nice and fitting so well. Those shoulder cups do pose quite the puzzle!

I'm going to keep hoping for that 56-ish cm body. ;) If those lucky enough to go to the comic con can take pictures and give us an idea of how big she is, that'd be wonderful. :aheartbea

37. anyone here....have the feeling that she looks like a female EL? ^_^ like even more than lishe! she's quiet lovely, love those poses

38. Hmmm... not really a female El... Lishe looked more like that, I think. But she's very pretty!

If they want us to actually trek about to FIND this display, which could be at just about ANY booth, they will need to post the Booth Number on the blog or somewhere. Otherwise it'll be impossible. Comic Con is just too huge!!!

39. *aside* luckygurl36, your avatar photo is really cute. :)

I don't care for dolls with teeth as a rule so I'm thrilled to see she doesn't have them. Still, seconding the sentiments that everybody has their own taste and there's no need to be snarky. hamsterpile :hamster:

Perhaps just her outfit and faceup style will be a one-off but the whole doll will be available... maybe? I am not sure Luts would go through all the trouble of sculpting an entire new doll just as a one-off. but who knows.

I think she's gorgeous, I'd get her blank if I could and send her off for a faceup. Minifees don't have that shoulder joint so maybe she's SD sized, or a minifee with a new body, or bigger, or who knows! it is fun to speculate. I really like her eye SHAPE. I think she is really pretty. I hope she's a minifee or SD sized!

40. I'm with you there, Sher. I'm hoping no larger than SD size. Even though I got out of the SD size and sold off most of my clothing for them, I'd be tempted to re-purchase that size if this girl is SD. Any larger, I'd sniffle over here a bit but would be safe.

41. I LOVE her face. Well, I love pretty much all of her. Oh well....
if she is only ever a OOAK then I don't have to worry about
ruined doll plans....silver lining I guess.

42. me too - sold my SD Lishe 'cause she was too big and it's harder (For Me) to photograph them but honestly, she was 55cm standing flatfoot, which isn't that much bigger than a 42cm MNF when I look at a ruler standing up ... I might be tempted too, 'cause I'm really dying for that more realistic face partnered with a FL body and if this is a new line, that means they'd be releasing more, eventually, so I can FINALLY dream of a more mature/realistic guy !!! (someone with meat on his bones)
PS: thanks sis, you know why ;)

43. It's quite possible they don't even know the booth number yet. I have no clue how organized SDCC is compared to other cons, but it's not unheard of for booths/displays/vendors/etc to head in with an idea of overall space they get but not the final location.

44. Vendors have known their booth spaces for months, as we sold out onsite (as usual). Exhibitors were placed and notified earlier in the year. Everything has been posted online for the public for over a week. Neither Fairyland, CP, or Sunny Day are vendors, so they're coming in with another vendor if they're on the Exhibit floor. There is no mention of doll display/release/anything in the Exhibitor section of the Events Guide, so whatever exhibitor they're coming in with did not do a write-up about them. The Art Show people have no record of a doll display in their 3D section. I'll talk to the Artists' Alley person at the meeting today and see if she's heard anything. The lack of coordination and communication is definitely not on *our* end.

45. One week to go :D

46. very beautiful...
she looks a bit like natalie portman to me... but then i am not that good at faces :(

47. When I went to FL picture blog I was doomed. If this girl is SD sized she would be the perfect doll I was looking for quite few yrs. I am ok wih 57cm (like delf girls) size, but all above 60 can be difficult. I also wouldnt want her to be msd, as I am not a fan of this size either. Anyway I really hope she wont be very limited and she will be avaible also as a basic, other way I will have no chance to get her unless I quickly sell my other dolls - which I dont want to sell (I sold what I could and I have 3 dolls, that are my fav)...last night I was regreting that I went to the picture blog site, cause I am truly in love with her and I am scared she will be limited or somewhat unavaible to me. I dont have to have the outfit, faceup...I just want the mold and body :)

48. Same as everyone has already said, wish I knew the size of this doll also. I'm going to go out on a limb here though and say she could be anywhere from 40cm-60cm. She looks too short to be any taller than that. I also agree that this is either an OOAK or a new doll from FL.

*Keeping my fingers crossed for new doll*

49. Anytime. ;)

50. Everything I noticed right off the bat has already been said, but I haven't read every comment to see if this had already been mentioned... but I do suspect that this doll might be in the 50cm range. Her legs aren't long enough to be a Feeple 70, her shoulder joints and bust size obviously aren't Feeple 65, and she looks too mature to be a Minifee, which leads me to believe it could be an entirely new sculpt, unless they updated the Feeple 70 body, which could also be a possibility- they have been listed as "sold out" for a couple of months now.. perhaps for an update? :D

Edit: I see a lot of people mentioning the "Delf" bodies.. I think we can get off the idea of them putting out another "Delf" body if they have already stated that they weren't doing it again. And after the Feeple 65 line was released, it seems pretty clear that they are planning to start going in a different direction with the bodies. I also don't think they'd be re-sculpting the MNF when what they have already works just fine, and has a pretty open system of options. I could see them putting out a "60 cm" doll, but creating one similar in proportion and mechanics to the Feeple 65 line would make much more sense to me.

51. she has delf shoulder joints... I am thinking she might be a small bust delf, not the lishe bust. at least that's my wish if she can't be a minifee. feeple 65s don't have that shoulder joint, either....

but who knows! without anything photographed next to her, there's no scale. she might be weeny or something! oh my!!

52. TEE HEE! Awesome!! XD

53. I'm just going to be over here in my corner being ridiculously jealous of that. I'm so used to the information being available one to two days before or even the day of.

54. We have 1100 exhibitors and many of the major corporations/studios/publishers who need that info way ahead of time for their own PR machines, so organized doesn't even begin to describe the huge responsibility the Exhibit Hall staff have. We started move-in today and it won't be finished until Wed evening about a nanosecond before we clear the doors for entry on Preview night. It's pretty impressive to watch the whole thing go up.

Well, the Artists' Alley person didn't recognize any of the names, so they must be coming in through a third-party exhibitor. Hopefully they'll post something soon about location.

55. Well, since the image the doll is based on is from Favole, perhaps she'll be at the Dark Horse booth?

56. The Dark Horse booth is more geared towards autographs. This is what it looked like last year:

That is Joss Whedon's head blocked by the girl with the cap.

Just to give a scale of the Exhibit Hall at Comic Con. This is the sea of people and the Warner Bros booth. Its the cast of Fringe doing a signing:

When it gets really crowded, the aisles will have lanes of foot traffic much like a street.

These are the rest of my pictures from the 2010 Dealer's Hall:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/68154176@N00/sets/72157624626590210/

I'm going this year and I will keep an eye out for this display and take photos. But without a Booth number its going to be a lot like looking for a needle in a haystack.

57. On Victoria Frances webpage they say a little about the doll, not much...
They mention that the cloth is the Fairy's Atelier...
I can't read Spanish but it was what my friend got out of it ^^'

Take a look :)
