My Moon finally has a face!!! Now he just needs a better fitting wig and eyes But no English name yet. His name in Chinese is Jiexi 杰希, but the closest English equivalent of "Jesse" really doesn't suit him and I just haven't found something that fits.
And a bonus pic with Elias. I'm over the moon (pun intended) to see them together (Please excuse the wonky color balancing that makes his head look so much darker than his body... I don't know why my phone likes to change the colors like that)
@Serraphym You're making me soooo tempted to wipe my Moon. I love your Moon's faceup! I already shared him in the Delf discussion but completely missed this one, whoops. Was lucky to bring home a Moon last month. And I believe he is from the limited Redemption the Moon release based on the faceup.
I had meant to reply earlier, but I actually love her red. It's such a striking color, and the micro-bangs look really fits her. Her faceup is gorgeous (is it a default faceup?)
May is pacific islander heritage month so I definitely have to give my Hawaiian Harang his spa day! Restringing, sueding, face up, the works!
NOOOOO! Please don't wipe his faceup! It is so unique to see a Redemption Moon with a default faceup! I thought that my vampire Shiwoo Tielo had an original faceup, but then everyone here pointed out to me it was just painted to look like an original one. Perhaps Ethan's faceup is an original one with lip and freckles added? Can anyone tell me? I suspect its another one that was painted to look like a Delf faceup. Ethan is a (suspected) 2011 El in Beauty White, but he seems to be a bit green to me. Tbh, I don't care that he may be green, it adds to his charm. Old pic is old. Ethan's new wig by Ryuichi Sakuma I also suspect that Spoiler: Manfred, 20210304_194627 by Ryuichi Sakuma my Shine, may also be an original Delf faceup. I hope that I have at least one CP Delf out of the 12 or so that I have that has an original faceup. *fingers crossed* Ryu
That's always something I feel so hard about. The original delf faceups. One of the things I like about the hobby is the customizing aspect. I paint all my dolls and make their clothes so when I get a doll second hand with the factory face I feel so GUILTY about wiping it but it won't truly by "my" doll until I paint it. Anyone else have this crafter's guilt?
I feel about the same with a couple of my dolls who have faceups from noted artists who no longer take commissions, @Lei Xing !
I've had many a big internal debate on wiping original faceups. Once upon a time I had a Chiwoo with damaged company faceup. I didn't have the heart nor the skills to fix his faceup so ended up selling him, which I now regret given how increasingly hard to find the old Delfs are. I'm now in a similar situation with this Moon. Only to add another layer is how this faceup is so rare. As it stands, I don't dare wipe him. Moon is the only old Delf I have now so my current plan is to hopefully try to get another old Delf that already doesn't have company faceup.
The lines on her face on her brows and eyes are so clean and sharp, thats classic delf She's also very well cared for!
@Cap'n, I wonder if one of our wonderfully talented faceup artists could "correct" the damage to the original faceup?
Probably could have searched for someone, but I sold that Chiwoo a couple years ago. I believe the next owner wiped the faceup anyways. But I've been on the hunt for a blank Chiwoo head ever since.
Just dropping in here with my dreaming El, River. I haven't been interested in my dolls at all for ages, but yesterday I had a random desire to get him out and photograph him. I'm kind of obsessed with his default faceup. I know I have a bit of a reputation for loving the defaults anyway, but I definitely do like some more than others, and I think this is a particularly nice one and really suits the sculpt.
Ahhhhh River! So happy to see him! He's definitely a fave El-ss and yes the default face up definitely suits him well
Never! ; A ; my cp hunt is just on hold cus of finances, but I will be repainting my Harang and El soon! I will gladly share pics when they're done
I was thinking too how quiet this thread's been. Heaven forbid I contribute. I adopted a Soo hybrid recently from my bestie but she's still blank and needs a faceup and new eyes but man is she CUTE. I had a special Soo for awhile that I loved but my friend begged to adopt her and I let her. xD (I get to see her all the time) But now we both have a Soo and are happy~ As she still looks like an alien, here's a pic of my vamp Shiwoo. In black and white so you can't see how green he is. link
I have another contribution to make too! Hugo, my vampire Woosoo, recently came home from the amazing AngelToast. I wasn't sure how he'd turn out because of the eye mod, but he's so cute!
It's so nice to see all these CP Delfs and to know that people in the hobby still love them. Delfs were always among my favourite dolls, but it's kind of sad to see that Fairyland doesn't seem to be interested in bringing them back in their OG form. I would've loved to get a Type 1 El and Chiwoo directly from the company. I was lucky to have found two Type 1 Els (only the heads, though) in beauty green, one of which might have been through an eye opening mod. I guess I'll find out once he arrives. May I ask for your recommendations regarding possible bodies for hybrids? Any help would be appreciated! I already have one of the old type three bodies that is a 95% colour match, but unfortunately it looks soo tiny with a type 1 head. The body is around an inch shorter than my junk type 1 body, too. I would've gone for a Fairyland Feeple60 boy, but they look so spindly... I really miss the Type 1 bodies and would love for El to look a bit more mature.
Can't help with the body match, but as far as CP and fairyland goes, from my understanding... the legal issues with luts forbid them from selling exact matches of the old molds. Which is why there are variations like elves and subtle sculpt changes. Don't quote me on this tho o.o
Well, I'm as much to blame. I haven't done much of anything with any of my dolls since moving.... I need a dollieh double shot! LOL
Yay for this thread being kept alive! I'm still on my hunt for a Type 1 El head, so I'm definitely jealous you managed to find them @Nighton_woN ! please do share photos of them! =D I definitely understand what you mean about the Type 3 bodies -- they're my least favorite of the Delf bodies and can look a bit disproportionate with the larger Type 1 heads. Personally, I'm planning on hybriding my future El on an Aolingshi 62cm body, which has broader shoulders. The fortunate thing is I think Type 1 heads should be easy to hybrid as their neck size is standard for 60-65cm dolls. My Type 1 Lishe, for example, is on an ALM body and fits perfectly.
Time to wake up the thread! Here's my boy Hoshi with his bestie. (He purposely wanted to dress like him)
Hello~ I need a little advice from anyone who has/had Delf Type 2 or Type 3 hybrids that don't use the CP neck mechanism. So... I've been looking for a body for my Type 2 Breakaway head and I'm leaning towards a non-delf body, but the big hole in his neck to fit the delf neck mechanism has posed a bit of a challenge in how to fix/string the head to the body. Since it's almost impossible to find a neck mechanism secondhand, I have settled on using a neck donut. However, the donut sits on only a small portion of the resin which makes me worried that the uneven pressure over time might deform or break (?) the neck part in the long run. It works for now since he's just borrowing a body so I don't keep his head strung this way for long, but for his actual body I'll probably end up leaving his head strung to the body for LONG periods of time (like months to half a year maybe) so I'm a little worried. Does anyone have experience with Type 2 and Type 3 hybrids without using the neck mechanism and was this ever an issue over the years? I've been thinking about it for a while and at this point I can't tell if I'm overthinking things and getting overly paranoid Anyway, here's the gap that shows the neck donut only sits on a small portion of his head... Any help or experience is appreciated! Thank you
I have so many donut babies. I love that turn key mechanism but it makes hybriding such a pain. I will say, I've had dolls using just a donut similar to yours keep their heads on just fine with zero damage for years (10 years for one and 15 for another!). I've seen no evidence of stress on the resin donut or the doll's head. The main issue I have is actually that the donuts are too big and get in the way of putting their head caps on. (For that I put the head cap on upside down and try to use donuts that are a C shape instead of a circle for more room.) If you're still concerned, you could look into getting a bigger donut, or making a custom one that's a little wider to offer more stability and distribute the pressure more evenly. I've seen people do this with clay or 3D printing!
I currently have 2 type 2/3/fairyland heads on other bodies without a turn-key and haven't run into any issues with the neck donuts breaking. My Elf Yder has been on his current body since 2017. My neck donut seems to be a bit different and bigger than yours (just the standard kind bought from companies like Luts) It is a bit annoying and his head tends to snap forward or back, but the body is wired so I'm too lazy to restring him with a spare mechanism I have. On the flip side, my Feeple Shushu doesn't seem to have as many issues on her Luts body
Thank you! It's assuring to know you've had dolls using donuts without issue for 10+ years! Yeah, my neck donut is just small enough that it gives the headcap enough space to stay on (with some tape to hold it securely). I bought some other donuts but they didn't fit inside his head with eye stems and his headcap on the right side around lol Thank you for sharing your experience too I didn't even realise my donut might be a bit smaller than what one would get from Luts. Might get that if I have enough items for an order from them to see what's the difference. It's good to know a donut works in the long run though the neck might be a bit snappy (?) I suppose that might depend on the head/body and stringing tension too.
Hey all! Any recommendations on body swaps for older Delf girls? I love my DES, but I wish she posed better! She's NS and I don't think there's any yellowing. (I'd keep her original body for Completion Value- I collect antique dolls, so I know originality matters. But I'd love to be able to photograph her doing more than lying down, sitting, or standing)
Haven't posted in a while,my lishe got a makeover I dyed him and put him on a custom resinsoul cen body
Hello! New to the thread. I was wondering if people could post some pics of their tan Els. A tan El has always been my grail (never seen him come up for sale in almost 10 years), and somehow this week I've got a bee in my bonnet after seeing a ns El for sale (it'sapretty good price). So I've been wondering if i love the tan that much, but for some reason, I'm struggling looking up pics of tan Els, so I'm asking here for pics, bonus if it's a comparison between the 2 or if they have their original faceup I love seeing any El though
@Lei Xing Love all Els, I haven't seen a monolid El before, is the nose modded too? @Alice80 oooh, lovely tan boy thank you
