This thread is a godsent, so I can still enjoy these beautiful CP Delfs, and the great people who still appreciate them. Sadly, it seems like current collectors are only interested in posting about new dolls. And, I seriously get that, but I would hate to see these classic dolls being forgotten.

Thank you SacredMonsoon! I need to get some new eyes for my non-vamp LuWen, and I couldn't remember his eye size. The eyes he currently has are an ancient pair of 20mm Masterpiece.

My Nanuri07, wearing one of Luts' gorgeous outfits from 2007. Luts' used to have such beautiful clothes for their CP Delfs.

 

@Akai Okami and @Rabbit-moon what size eyes do you have in your Lu-Wen? I’ve tried a couple that worked for size but still have some gapping because of the domes. I really struggle sizing for dreaming-eyed sculpts. I’m currently looking at 18mm to ensure no gapping around the white but have reservations that the iris might be too big, even though the eyes on Lu-Wen are fairly wide.

Absolutely loving everyone’s wonderful Lu-Wen and now El photos! This helped keep my focused on finishing this faceup. Thank you!!

Faceup and hands/feet are finally complete and I’m debating on eyelashes or not since there’s not a lot of eye space. I’m waiting on a proper long brown wig and green eyes to arrive for him. Not digging this blue eyes and blonde hair for what is supposed to be a very viking inspired vision for this guy, but wanted to share.

 

Here's my second Delfuary photo It's Paimon, my OE El! I ordered him right before the Delfs were discontinued on Luts. His beauty white resin has aged incredibly well compared to my older BW Delfs- it makes me think they were upping the quality at the end, so that's even more of a shame they were discontinued

I have a dreaming head for him as well, but never painted it. I'd like to repaint him this year (this faceup is 12 years old, oops...) so maybe his other head will get done to match!

That's Naberia, Vampire Dark Elf Soo. I always loved this sculpt but I was focused on boys only for a long time. Then I got a DES in a trade and she instantly became one of my favorite dolls! So when I found this VDES on eBay it was a no-brainer

 

@overlordu Naberia is gorgeous!!! That lighting really adds a subtle drama to the photo, too, I love how it brings out the iridescence in her faceup!

Wow! Overlordu, you are incredibly talented! It's amazing how gorgeous your face-up for your Naberia is! It's just breathtaking!

I wish Luts had been doing such beautiful face-ups when I ordered my VDES back in 2008.

Here she is with her company face-up. I'm still pretty pleased with her, but she really deserves a lush fantasy face-up to compliment her vampy awesomeness.

However, now that she is so rare, I'm afraid to mess with her default company face-up. If it ever gets damaged, I'll look into a new, more exotic fantasy look for her. But, for now, I'm just happy to even have this special girl.

 

@overlordu - wow, she is stunning! Like you, I prefer to do my own dolls' face ups. Unlike you, I don't think mine turn out so great! I'm utterly and completely out of practice, having not done any face painting in years! I'm waiting on the weather to become MSC spraying friendly and will just make myself start painting my dolls again!

@Rabbit-moon - I don't blame you for wishing your girl had a fancier face up - but, I honestly love the simplicity of some of the earlier face ups! It's amazing that you have her default face up and are also taking such good care of her to keep it there as long as possible.

I'm loving all of the Delf pics! And Happy Birthday Feather, that wig looks amazing on her! Wow, you two being together since you were16 is pretty impressive @SacredMonsoon , especially with Feather's factory faceup. I don't think any of my Delf still have theirs since they were mostly pre-loved/second-hand, but some of my CP MSDs still do.

Adrastos, my Tanning Shiwoo got a new suit recently. I've always wanted him to have a nice gray suit, and I just love the style of this one!

I think I'm going to start looking for some low-dome eyes in this color. I want to be able to get him away from the intense stare he currently has. I love this eye color on him though!

Even though I stubbornly repaint all of my dolls, I have a healthy respect for those old Luts faceups. They are so gorgeous! I really admired the skill it took to make those clean lines when I first fell in love with BJDs. And yes, they are increasingly rare to find these days, so I can see why you're keeping your VDES as is! She's beautiful!

I avoid buying Delfs with Luts faceups because I know how treasured they are. I think I've only wiped one Luts faceup, but it came to me damaged so I didn't feel too bad about it at the time...

 

Thank you Overlordu! I do love my VDES' default face-up. But, just looking at the beautiful face-ups you give your dolls makes me long for a fantasy face-up. Your OE Elf Soo is GORGEOUS! Love-Love-Love her!

It's the last day of Delfuary, so here I am with one final photo. My Woosoo, Anavel! He's one of my few dolls that doesn't have a character. All of my love for him is just as a doll, which I think is valid because he's such a special doll Woosoo is so iconic.

 

I failed the Delfuary photo prompts by not taking a single new photo of my Delfs that wasn't what I was sewing for them this month lmfao, and technically I didn't finish any of those projects either. So I'm rolling it forward into March and hoping to get some appreciation photos for these kiddos sometime soon!

 

Rolls into Delfuary three days late with photos, lmfao, but hey better late than never!! I made Lasalle a long vest and bandana for February's sewing project over in the Workshops subforum and I layered them over an outfit I put together for him (Dollmore shirt, cuffed shorts from Alice's, boots are from like 2009ish so idk). It was overcast today with perfect diffuse lighting for outdoor photos, so we had a blast!

Overlordu, your Woosoo is gorgeous! Another amazing face-up!

Man! I remember, back in the day, when everyone wanted a Woosoo. I wanted one too, but he was always out of reach. He was such a brilliant sculpt.

OMG! Is that an old 2006 Nanuri? Mamo, he's so adorable! What a sweet and quirky little face.

@Rabbit-moon it sure is! He was my first doll, got him on the MP as just a head and did a split in winter 2006 for his body. A previous owner sanded the tip of his nose to reshape it, I've evened it out a bit more over the years to make it more of a smaller version of the original nose shape. I have one that I'm reasonably sure is unmodded as well, she's up next in my personal Delfuary appreciation projects. Here's a pic from last year of the two of them together!

She's a hybrid, the resin match is more forgiving IRL but when she arrived I was completely floored by how absolutely unyellowed she is after all these years. And somehow she seems to have avoided the Beauty Green batches her brother got caught up in, lol!

I don't think I introduced him here yet, but this is the newest addition to my gang, a WS dreaming El (a rather green WS dreaming El... ). His wig arrived yesterday and it is somehow the most perfect wig for him.



I've been wanting a dreaming cp delf sculpt for aaaaages and I'm not disappointed! Since his wig arrived I've been carrying him around my flat with me. I slept with him sat next to me on my desk (and then woke up in the middle of the night and got freaked out because I forgot I put him there ) I haven't decided on a name for him yet. I've learnt not to force names on my dolls because then I just end up changing my mind once I've got to know them better.

I was actually thinking about quitting the doll hobby recently (or taking a big step back from it at least) but, uh, I guess not

 

It warms my heart that there are still old school CP sculpts still alive here in the thread ^_^. So far, the only CP sculpt I was able get is my dream doll way before I bought my first BJD in 2008: CP Delf El with both open-eye head (bought second hand in DoA marketplace way back 2011) and dreaming head (bought from Luts in 2011 before CP sculpts were discontinued). Not too fond of the Delf body though, so I bought him a Fairyland F60 body during one of their site anniversaries.

I'd say he is still a work in progress though, even after more than 10 years since getting him. His face-up still needs to be changed and his dreaming head *needs* a face-up. XDXDXD

Well first off, I would tell you that I learned to restring on a Delf girl and they are so sturdy and strong you really don't need to be afraid of breaking her. They are also one of the easier dolls to restring! The only complex part is the neck piece, but once you've figured out how to loop the elastic through that it's just a matter of arm strength and practice. Delfs are built like tanks. It's one of the things I love about them! I've never had one crack or chip during restringing or general handling. Definitely restring on carpet or your bed or something soft if you're worried about pieces sliding away or dropping.

Also, resin isn't weakened by age, at least that I've noticed (I have dolls that are almost 20 years old and just as sturdy as the day i got them!), or humidity, and sun just causes yellowing. Now, if you put your doll in the freezer...they will be more brittle from cold but...who does that? xD I would recommend watching and reading restringing tutorials from multiple sources until you're more comfortable with the idea of it and then just...go for it!

After 10 years in the hobby, I got my first delf! And it was my absolute favorite too - Shiwoo! I managed to snag two Els as well (one was not for me) so all the sudden there's a lot of delfs in the house lol. The only old delf style doll I have is an old Feeple Karsh, so not quite the same, but he prepared me a little for the bodies lol. Their legs are soooo frustrating. I really love them though. Shiwoo is the most amazing, special boy and I can't believe I have him

Still deciding a name for my Shiwoo mod boy, but I got him a new hoodie that goes perfectly with this color scheme and he's just so dang cute.



I keep thinking how perfect he is...If I had an old green Shiwoo head and sent it to Krowbar for customizing, I would have literally asked for exactly this boy. Elf ears, cute little teeth, and the sweetest faceup you can imagine. I always wanted a sweetly styled Shiwoo in SD size, as I have one of the old MSD ones already...and this is just the cake, the icing on the cake, and the cherry on top! ....maybe he needs a sweet dessert themed name.

Gosh, what a cutie! I love Shiwoo but mine always end up "head empty, no thoughts, only chaos" which is ....on brand for me tbf but it makes the sweet ones I see even more impressive. A cute dessert name would be perfect for him.

 

Oh my god. I was in the wrong thread. MY PEOPLE ARE HERE. When I was a young teen I was lucky to have a Chiwoo (I wanted a Chiwoo army). I miss that doll a lot (I traded him for another doll who I still love) But the CP Delfs went out when I was an older teen and thus never was able to buy one new. At some point when I was 20 (I am 28 now) I was able to save my birthday funds for a Lishe on the boy body and have been thankful since. Even though I don't like having white/pure white dolls I made the exception. Please forgive the terrible/old face up on my boy.



I am always on the hunt for more CP delf boys but never know were to look. Aside from the delf body being singe jointed, its my fav boy body for 60cm dolls.

Just received this absolutely lovely 2007 Na Nu Ri event head this week and I already can't wait to get them a new faceup! Does anyone else have this sculpt and mind sharing their faceups?

 

My bestie has one, and I know she wont mind me sharing a pic I took of her girl. She's styled as a girl (the twin to my vamp Lu-wen boy) and her faceup is by Krowbar. It's very unique but I quite like it!



Looking for photos of her...I have realized I need to get new photos of the twins together, as the only ones I have were before I redid Fayt's faceup as well as before he was fully styled! yikes. xD
