CP Delf Discussion Part 13

Hoo boy, I've been missing this thread! Most of my dolls are packed up still from the move, but this month Vivienne is my desk buddy since I'm working on a skater dress for her. I walked into the room and she was looking super beautiful and poised at that angle, so I snapped a quick pic! I love my Nanus so much, but it's really making it hard to not go on the hunt for my other CP Delf faves... someday, lol. She's on an AoD body, I think it really matches her demeanor!

Introducing my Nanuri07! His eyes have been modded open and he’s on a Feeple65 body. Name is still in the works and he’s likely to get a new wig and eyes but in the meantime these are his placeholders.

@SacredMonsoon thank you!! That's Leekeworld's "Sandy Brown" and I feel like it's really neither of those, lol, but it sure is pretty anyway! It wasn't what I wanted for her at first but it's really been growing on me the longer she wears it

I have not been good at resisting the temptations recently, and picked up an NS feeple OE Breakaway (I believe the same as the '08 luts version) that I saw being sold at a very reasonable price. He's not strictly on topic for this thread, but I am very curious how he'll compare to my '05 as I recall there were small differences, including the mouth shape.

Some of my dolls will likely be going through a body shuffle so he may claim the type 2 delf body from the Moon I have on layaway... Forever a struggle of too many heads and not enough bodies

 

That does seem to be an eternal issue.

I really thought I had a picture somewhere of my original and second release Breakaways together, but darned if I can find it. I'll keep looking, because it is an interesting comparison. There are some small differences between them.

 

That would be amazing! I will always appreciate any Breakaway spam I can get. I've had this rule of not owning duplicate heads but my love of the Breakaway sculpt just threw that out the window

On another note- are there any suggestions on a slightly taller body (~62cm) that would work for delf heads and reasonably match NS? My dream would be the old muscular feeple 60 body, but assuming that's near impossible to find, am open to any other suggestions. I pondered the feeple65 body but it may be a tad too tall

 

Depending on the resin batch the head was from, you might be able to match a Volks bod reasonably well. My not-a-vampire Sleeping Breakaway head from the Fairyland release is on an SDGr body, which is a little taller than a Delf. I haven't tried him on an SD17 bod, so I'm not sure how that would go proportion-wise, but they're even taller.

One of the old April Story guy bods might work, too. They were also fairly tall IIRC. I had Monarch (A "sugar skull" Fairyland head-) on the AS Senior girl bod for a while, and the resin wasn't an exact match... but it worked pretty well. It would have been very easy to blush her to get an exact match. Flying Fox, my Migi Siho, has that bod these days, and she matches it well, too, so MigiDoll's own bodies might be another possibility. I've never owned one, though, so I can't say much about height or proportions with a Delf head.

 

Don't have good photos yet, but the feeple Breakaway arrived much earlier than expected! Wow... He's definitely very different from the '05 version, as if inspired by but not casted from the same mold. I guess I'm not very surprised as I've generally known that Type 1 Delfs just have bigger noggins and wider faces compared to later releases. I'd always wanted Loki to be NS (or have an NS shell too) but I suppose he can stick to his good ol'BW self, and I can feel less guilty about owning 2 of the same mold given how different they are

Pardon for the atrocious lighting, but sharing my Feeple Breakaway (on a 2020 F60 motion line body) next to my '05 Breakaway for reference! The feeple head has sharper features overall, but regardless I still feel all giddy when I see Breakaways

The head is from '09, and matches my other CP resin from around that era. While the color is even, I find that CP's NS from that period yellowed more than earlier time periods where NS became more peachy.

 

Sorry for the double posting, but I'm almost done with my Lishe boy project too (just need eyelashes and his body to arrive)!
Thank you so much to @overlordu for the tip on the pan pastels. He was originally quite unevenly yellowed, but after a lot of work and blushing, he's now close to the original BW color. Unfortunately, this means I couldn't send him for an artist faceup, but you win some you lose some I suppose

I've bought several over the years, and they never stayed as I couldn't find the 'look' I wanted for them. I currently have a blank one in a box that I've been ignoring, as I know I'll end up putting it up for sale if I think about it. And who knows, the money to get him faceupped may coincide with a rush of inspiration, and he'll get done. I have a Volks SD13 body lingering in a box in the cupboard under the stairs ready for him as well...

 

That's for sure a tough line to walk, trying to figure out their character/vibe and if they'll be staying or not. I have definitely struggled with most of my Delfs, but in the end that only ones who've stuck around have been Shiwoo/Chiwoo, though I wish I could find another Breakaway of some variety someday

 

His body arrived!!! It's an ALM body in WS -- the color match is miraculously ~95% and the fit of the head on the neck works quite well. I love when random hybridizing works

 

Hey guys. Quick question. Were dreaming Shiwoo and dreaming vampire Shiwoo both available as type 1s?

I was thinking of putting out a wtb for these sculpts but I prefer type 1 delfs, so if they're out there I was thinking it would be worth looking for a type 1 in particular.

 

From the CP database, it seems that they were available as Type 1 at some point, but those might be pretty rare

Help guys!! I am in a bit of a worried spot, I'm unsure if Feathers ankles both have cracks in them one on the inside of her ankle rotator, and one on the outside on the other, could these lines be seam lines? I've never paid much attention until recently with her joints, so I'm not sure what could've happened. Its really hard to get photos of, they're very thin lines, on a steep angle, and not completely across the ankle balljoint. She's a type 2 from 2011. Any help, I'd really appreciate it!!

I just went and checked my only delf girl, who is either a type 1 or a type 2 as well as my type 2 delf boys..and at least on my dolls, the seam lines on their ankle ball joint (the floating piece, which is what I assume you are referring to) is going around it, not top to bottom. So what you see could be cracks? HOWEVER, if you are able to unstring her partially, you can try putting a bright light behind it and see if that gives you a clearer image of if it's a crack or the ridge of a seamline. I've also never seen seamlines on the inside of a doll? I really hope she doesn't have cracks though.

Thanks so much!!! I the lines aren't up and down, they're on an angle, very similar to the photo you showed! And by inside i meant they're both on the same side of the ankle, just opposite ankle ball joints! I'll see if I can get a photo to share, i'll try and see, but thank you SO much! And your Shiwoo is so cool!!

Edit: i tried to get some pics, this was the best i could get with my dslr and a flashlight with no ones help to hold her!

Ah, those do look like seamlines to me! So glad they aren't cracks! The seamlines on the ankles are at a very strange angle aren't they? lol

Since I've crawled out of the void..I may as well ask this....Does anyone know of a hybrid body that would fit and match an old WS delf head? I recently acquired another Shiwoo who's pretty yellowed (but not beauty green) and am on the hunt. I was thinking of maybe just getting the AoD 62cm body in WS. Their resin looks pretty creamy, but it's hard to tell.

I second that the lines in the ankle balls look like seams. I’m pretty sure my Delfs have them, too. Nothing to worry about!

I have a yellowed WS Lishe head on an old Custom House body and the resin match is near perfect...I've also seen where old Volks matches Luts, but that might just be normal skin...

 

According to users on Taobao, the consensus is AoD WS is similar to Switch Rosy White, so it won't be a match to old CP WS.

 

Back in the day I had a BW El head on a white skin B&G body, and they were a good match, but B&G was a little yellower. So for an older Delf that would be a good thing. I don't even know if B&G is still in business, though, and I rarely see their dolls secondhand anymore...

 

Thanks for the feedback, all of you! I'll keep looking for a creamy yellow ws, as well as just stalking the MP for a body that might work. I have a WS 2008 Nanuri on a type 1 B&G body and it's a perfect match, and my Shiwoo is of similar color but yeah...it's very old. haha One thing I have going for me here is that my Shiwoo is very heavily blushed. I adore his faceup and if I can find him a body that's even close in color, I'm going to try to match the heavy blushing style on the body. I've found that adding body blushing does wonders for resin matching.
