CP Delf Discussion Part 12

Chiwoo arrived! His eyes are a lot bigger than I expected. Had these 20mm prepared for him and they just barely fit so I'll need to get some 22mm. He also needs to be restrung and cleaned up a bit but I plan to do that this evening. Wanted to see how he looked all dressed first! Only issue is that his nose faceup has a chip in it and he's super floppy right now.

I need a Chiwoo in my life~

 

There can never be too many Chiwoos... (Although I'm still looking for a Type 1 for my crew. Someday I'll get one. Someday. One day. If I'm lucky... There just seem to be a lot fewer of them in the world than the newer version.)

In the meantime, my Type 2, Rhian. (Who was painted by Poppy. XD)

 

What's the difference between the two? Mine has Chiwoo-1 in his head so I'm assuming that means he's a type 1?

 

If he uses an s-hook and resin disk to hold his elastic in the head he's a Type 1. If he uses the turning key-piece with the hook below it in the neck he's a Type 2. The "Chiwoo-1" just means that he's the open-eyed sculpt.

Why I want "one of each" is the slight difference between the two's facial features. The Type 2 version isn't quite as squirrel-cheeked as the older Type 1s.

 

Erg. I meant to say that the Bloody Valentine was the one who had a closed mouth Vamp, not the Count Verre - serves me right for not checking myself!

The F70 sleeping (non-vamp) is most definitely a closed mouth BA - one of the only ones it seems (the other amusing sculpt change is the MNF's snubbed nose).

@Cap'n I think it just means basic sculpt - Elves and Elf Vamps and the like would have different numbers inside their heads.

 

Thanks for the info! Guess my boy is a type 2 as well then since he has the key piece. Got him restrung and wired, and he's so much better. Now to decide if I want to wipe that faceup or not.

 

Ok THAT is interesting information. I never knew that there was a difference in the entire sculpt. But honestly... I'm a little slow at times. So if I can't tell a difference between an AES and a DES, there isn't much hope for me.

I am absolutely loving all these Chiwoo pictures! I need to take more photos of my VE boy, he definitely deserves it! Chiwoo is one of my absolute favorites of the old Delfs so finding my boy was a dream! I wish he was a full OE Chiwoo but I'll take what I can get

No name yet, I was waiting for his arrival before deciding. Often when I plan ahead the doll arrives and it just isn't right.

And I also luck out with this Chiwoo @SuperShawol. I found him at an online thrift store!

 

There are little differences like that between several of the ones that had both Type 1 and Type 2 releases. Older Els are also a little different from their more recent brothers. You really have to have them side-by-side to see it, though.

Somewhere I have a picture of Nezumi's Fuan (who's an older "first generation" Type 1-) with my Tsung Li (a later Type 1) and Amon (who was a tan Type 2). I'll have to see if I can find it, because that was a good illustration of how the sculpt evolved over the years.

The interesting discussion of differences between the original sculpts and the newer versions of the same sculpt had me searching for differences in my Lishes - I haven't noticed any, but then I haven't been looking - but I came across a shot I had taken which shows probably why I like BAs so much - I didn't realise they looked so much like a Lishe! (You can see the shot here - the photos aren't mine, they belonged to their wonderful faceup artist @elisa_maza )

And cause I promised spam, here's my oldest girl (dated by the fact she only has a CP copyright stamp in her head - unlike those early ones I can date, like my 2005 girls), she's a modded type 1 dreaming:

 

@TeaPartyRevolution Must be because El and Lishe are purposefully similar, and BA is an altered El head! But I can’t deny how cute the three of them are!

 

@JellyParade Perhaps - but they made the BA look more like a Lishe than the El does... ironic isn't it?

 

Oh, I really like the iris size on him, I hope you can get a 22mm eye with 10mm iris??

@TeaPartyRevolution I feel like if El and Lishe are supposed to be twins, then Breakaway is their estranged younger brother lol! And your girl is gorgeous! The half lidded eyes give her such a sultry expression and that makeup style just adds to it

@JellyParade @TeaPartyRevolution If I remember correctly, a long time ago on the old eLuts, CP/Luts wrote some 'lore' about Lishe and El sculpts being brother and sister. BA was supposed to be a combination of their features like a third sibling. Correct if I'm wrong!

I heard that El and Lishe were siblings too, i always loved them together!

I was under the impression that CP’s concept was that El and Lishe were siblings, but Breakaway was El with an open mouth.

 

That might explain the name "Breakaway" which I've always found odd even for a BJD, LOL @overlordu

 

@IngieBee I try - I don’t always succeed. And I often think my brain is simply full of random facts! Oh, Breakaway apparently is a translation of the original Korean name, which the sculpt now goes by - Ital. (That one was explained when they were first released as Ital by Fairyland)

@kaboomkim @clowve @overlordu Oh yes, Lishe and El are supposed to be twins. Breakaway was originally “Breakaway-El” and he’s a modified El like a Woosoo is a modified Chiwoo. They’re not the only sculpts to be related, I believe Chiwoo is Shiwoo’s older brother.
Given that Lishe and El are twins, it makes sense that Breakaway looks like both of them, but he has a mouth very similar to a Lishe!

 

I just ordered my first full set doll, so I hope you're right about the clothes and they turn out to be well made @kaboomkim
