CP Delf Discussion Part 12

Aug 27, 2020

    1. Thank you!!! :...(:aheartbea

    2. has anyone ever sanded that middle piece in the girls body down so they could slouch? Or is that piece actually not why they can’t slouch? i just got my type 1 body in today and was wondering if I could mod that part for a little more upper body poseability

    3. Some of the photos are broken, but someone did this mod on a Delf.
      /threads/made-my-luts-girl-slouch-mod-lishe-update-4-19.279940/

    4. Thanks everyone for your kind comments on my new breakaway :D

I'm having an issue and I'm hoping you guys can help me. I've never had a type 3 delf before and I'm struggling with the twist lock mechanism. It's super stiff and I can barely turn it. Is this normal? I managed to get his head off after some struggling, but now I can't fix it back on again :doh I feel like I must be doing something wrong because surely it isn't meant to be this difficult?!

    5. How tight is your stringing? You’re right in that it shouldn’t be difficult to twist at all. If there’s too much tension, it could be creating friction between the sliding surfaces?

    6. My Shiwoo’s body is like that, too. It’s a type 3 Delf body and the neck mechanism is super tight. I’ve actually had to use pliers to twist it so I could get his head off and on. There are gouges in the mechanism from doing that now, but it worked.

    7. I also have some of my toggles that are super stiff. Others almost seem too lose. Just depends on how worn the mold it was cast in was I guess?

    8. This was my first thought too! But he doesn't seem to be that tightly strung to me - I would say he's just perfect. I was actually hoping to avoid restringing him because I didn't want to ruin the perfect tension. And also because restringing isn't fun and I always try to avoid it if I can

Now that you mention it, there are gouges in my breakaway's mechanism too. Maybe this is what the previous owner was doing to get it on and off. I didn't even think to use pliers! I will give that a go. Thank you for the tip!

Yeah, I talked to my friend who used to have one and she said hers was too loose as well. I wondered if maybe mine had gone stiff from disuse. But now I'm thinking that's just the way it is. It's a pain. I'd swap it for my Soony's old fashioned hook in the back of the head any day!

    9. Hyzenthlay, sure! Glad to help. Or, if you have anything like a small hex wrench or something that you could just slip over the mechanism and turn that way, it might not damage so easily. I didn’t have anything small enough or narrow enough to slip over the neck mechanism to maneuver it (like the handle of a pair of scissors or something) thus why I resorted to pliers.

I wonder if there’s some way to like grease the mechanism without managing to get it all over the doll. That’d be useful. lol

    10. My Breakaway is on his way from Taiwan to Ohio. I guess he's going to have the turnkey too, won't he? I guess if it really makes me mad I can miliput a fix in like I did with Baxter. My Feeple would just.....loose his head while walking through forests. -_-

    11. I have a neck connector turn key for Snow, I'm hoping it'll fit on the zaoll body! I'm just glad i got that extra when i did, they're so hard to get now! I have no clue when it comes to hybrids though, I always thought I'd never have a hybrid

    12. My Yder arrived!! I’m so excited, he’s beautiful…my first new CP doll in…17 years? I’m going to repaint him today and will post pics later.
      :love
Sorry, just had to gush. Good luck with that neck mechanism!

    13. Yay!!!

      Teddy

    14. PICS! PICS! PICS! :cheer

    15. Okay, here are the before and after pics.

This is what he looked like when I got him - check out those brows!

And here he is post faceup. I had a number of mishaps while I was painting him due to the previous coat of MSC being removed irregularly so I’m not sure if I’m going to keep it or not - might have to bite the bullet and commission someone else, lol, oh well. He looks a little more melancholy than I wanted but he’s still beautiful and I still love him. I’m so glad he’s home! Yder truly is a magical sculpt, he looks so different depending on how he’s painted!

    16. @Majenta Congratulations on your boy! I love his makeover and his new softer look. Yder is my favourite sculpt and it's so nice to see more of him :D

    17. I scored two grails, a delf lishe and soony! They're both getting faceups right now but I will sure post pics when they're back! I wired and sueded their bodies. Its been over 10 years since I've owned delf, they are so gorgeous and I'm thrilled to enjoy them again. They're super nostalgic! :)

      • x 2
    18. Omg @Majenta he's beautiful! I love his faceup, those brows are so gentle! :D

@juumou omg both grails! Congrats! I can't wait to see them both! Lishe and Soony are my fave girl delfs! :whee:

Has anybody got any new clothes they're excited for? I can't wait to see Feather in her dress! :D

    19. i got someone special in the mail today!! after being so disappointed with receiving a modded Soony unknowingly, i posted a wtb on ig for an unmodded one and someone replied tuesday and she got here today!!! three whole days earlier than expected. she’s everything i have dreamed of since i was 14!! ultimate grail doll finally truly achieved ;w; i can’t wait to start getting her together

sorry for the pic from my ig stories. it was late when i got home and i couldn’t do much else. seeing them side by side really makes me wonder how i, or anyone, could ever believe that the one on the right was unmodded. to be fair, that’s what i was told and she did have a faceup at the time so it was difficult to check in the pictures i was sent, but next to regular soony, she looks so different!!

and one thing that is strange to me is her head seems smaller than regular soonys? does anyone know anything about sleeping soonys head being smaller than open eyed soony? could it be a year of production thing?

      • x 5
    20. Omg congrats @nanaminore!! They're both stunning! But i definitely see the difference! Are you going to make them look similar or very different?

    21. @nanamiore oh wow they look like 2 completely different dolls! Congrats and what a short wait that you were able to get her so fast!! :)

    22. Love the new eyebrows!

      Congrats!

      Yay!

      Will you keep both?

Really? It looks bigger in the photo. To me, at least.

I managed to score a Volks SD13 Full choice system Sailor Suit "welcome" set. I thought it was the ultra rare SD10 version, but it isn't, and since my Volks SD13 boy already has one, Alphie, my Chiwoo gets another sailor suit (its a good thing I love sailor suits on my resin kids).

      Teddy

    23. they are both very cute!! i prefer unmodded Soony though so the other girl will be finding a new home!!

thank you!! i was expecting to be searching for months!!

unmodded girl will be sold to fund other things, though I would love to keep both! her head is about 0.3-0.4cm smaller!! im not sure the reasoning for that though? im hoping someone has an answer or has noticed it before with other delfs

    24. Well, darn it, I'm not getting notifications again :doh and I missed a bunch of posts. Looking into threads today because NOTHING was happening! LOL I was wondering where everyone was! Well, I guess I'm just going to say I absolutely adore everyone's pictures!

@nanaminore Wow, that's amazing! Congratulations! I hope you keep both, as they would make amazing sisters!

      Congratulations on Yder too, @Majenta

    25. Does anyone know of sewing, crochet, or knitting patterns that fit delf girls very well? Either paid or free. I'm modifying some smart doll and SD13 patterns, but always love when it is tested and true for the size?

    26. Have I really been away from my favorite thread for over a month? I had SO much catching up to do! :sweat And then to find out tht a new thread was started would explain why I hadn't gotten any update emails. :doh

Oh well, time to catch up. I'm loving everyone talking, posting pics and keeping this thread alive! Welcome to those that are new, and never be afraid to post pics of your CP Delf just because they "need work/faceup/clothes/etc." I for one, love seeing a doll's progress to become the entity their caregiver discovers they are!

Congrats on everyone that got new-to-them CP Delf! Not only are they classics, but so incredibly individual, even when they are the same sculpt, right? Maybe that's why I have so many Shiwoo. :love I got a new boy, but he's a LittleFee Shiwoo, so is off topic for this thread. That reminds me, I really need to take new pics of my Delf Crew! :3nodding: Whoever saw that SS Shiwoo, feel free to PM me a link if he's still available, I'm not on IG much, so I don't know how to find him.

I managed to finish the prototype tail for Sternauge, my BW/BG DES merman, so here's a quick pic I took. The tail didn't come out the way I wanted, but it gives me incentive to try again. Luckily, I have more of this fabric. "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!" :blush

    27. I think it looks great, @Ryuichi Sakuma 13 :D You do such amazing work, and no machine! Blows my mind!

      • x 1
    28. Sorry I can't help.

My girl has had her bust modded off entirely so I have to draw up my own patterns for her and they'd be useless for a doll with a bust.

      Teddy

    29. Nice!

Good luck with the next version. It came out pretty well as is, so that's great for a prototype.

If at second you don't succeed, destroy all evidence of your failure, and pay off the witnesses....?

    30. Congrats @Majenta and @nanaminore on your new darlings!! :3

@Hyzenthlay Hopeful as the elastic naturally loosens, it’ll make twisting it a bit easier. And perhaps on the next restring, you could take the mechanism apart and maybe sand it slightly in case there are casting defects that are making it rough?

    31. So many new delf babies! I'm so glad to see them active and being loved! :D:hug:

    32. You make very interesting photos, @SacredMonsoon , never just a head shot, like I do, LOL. Beautiful picture of Feather , as always :D

    33. Oh thank you! I try to change it up, because i love her face so much i usually just have those too! :XD: you should post some of your headshots too! I'd love to see them:hug:

    34. I haven't taken pictures in a long time, I'm so behind on so many projects, but hopefully soon :)

But let me give some love to my Juri07b
      [IMG]

She has one of my very first faceups. I should redo it, but it holds a certain imperfect charm for me ??

    35. Yeah, I hope so! And if I ever restring him I'll have to have a better look at it and see if anything can be done.

I got my Lishe head yesterday! :D I love her already. I'm going to call her Wendy. I hope I can get her a body eventually. I'm starting a small army of these old delfs. Turns out they're quite addictive

    38. Thanks! Might be a while yet. I'm trying to work on one doll at once so I'm not going to worry about it until my breakaway is finished!

      Thank you so much <3

Oh yes me too! Aren't they amazing? I have @Angelesk to thank for the beautiful face up (and the doll!)

    46. @Angelesk, yessss, more cute Shiwoos! All the Shiwoos!

    47. I'm not sure if Asa counts as cute, persay, but he's here, in the only other wig in the entire dang drawer that would fit his big ol' melon head.
(sorry for the low quality - krita is no photoshop, lemme tell you. let's just pretend it's a deliberate artistic choice, shall we?)

    48. Oh definitely cute, @Nasa, even if he thinks he's scary, he's definitely cute!

    49. Oh my gosh! How much I would LOVE to get my paws on a Vampire Shiwoo :...(:...(
He's so gorgeous! (And yeah, my Shiwoo has the same melon head problem) :XD:

    52. Oh gosh, they’re just so cute, I can barely take it. I paid for shipping on my little sweety, I hope he’s shipped soon. :whee: I’m so happy he’s finally going to be mine!

    53. Adorable, @malvinas ! Shiwoos are so cute!

    54. Hi friends! I am a thread-stalker and finally have purchased my first CP Delf! :whee: Planning to buy another shortly!

They are a modded Vampire Chiwoo. I think they are absolutely adorable. They are on a modded body as well, which isn't usually to my taste, but I can cover all the funkiness up with clothing!

They're coming from Russia so this is just the seller's photo, but I was too excited not to share! Happy to join this club!
