CP Delf Discussion Part 12

Aug 27, 2020

    1. It would be nice if it were a member of DoA :thumbup

Oh No! I'm so sorry @SacredMonsoon , that's so painful :...(. Well, I hope you get better quickly. At least you have Feather and Snow to keep you company :thumbup

      Sorry @Cap'n , can't help :(

    2. @Cap'n aw thank you! I appreciate that you've admired her, thank you! :whee:

@IngieBee it is soooo painful! Thank you! I do, i just can't really play with them until i can stand up. But i can look at them and that always makes me happy!

    3. So sorry for you, @SacredMonsoon ! My sciatic nerve kicks me every so often, but never enough to completely lay me out.

      • x 1
    4. Aw, thank you!! I'll try to get better pics later.

Tsuminaki is awesome!! I'm sure your Woosoo will look great!!

Thanks!! It was part of a Leekeworld Hero fullset, many years ago. I got the outfit from a friend who had the doll.

      • x 1
    5. Man.. I miss out on that one! They did not use "Luts" or "Delf" in the title, so I never saw her pop up.

      • x 1
    6. Yeah, its really awful, i'm glad you've never been out of comission, its really not fun! :XD:

    7. I'm really wanting to get a DES at some point, she was one of the first I saw with Lishe and El. They're so pretty, I wish FL would just sell old sculpts again! :sigh

    8. Me toooooo they're so pretty! Delfs will always hold a beauty F60's can't quite grasp.

    9. The title was pretty generic but it did have 'Lishe' and 'bjd' in it, so it got discovered by others and shot up in price on the last day. I figured it would though. Was hoping someone here got it because she was really pretty and I wanted to see her all dressed up.

    10. I recently made a template tier list for ranking CP delfs, if anyone is interested to rank their sculpts hehe.

Tier list template here (you just have to drag and drop to play with it~):
Create a Cerberus Project Delf Dolls Tier List

My own ranking is on youtube if anyone's curious. Mostly I'm just curious to see what everyone's S tier Delf sculpts are :3

      • x 4
    11. @cian - I noticed you made a comment about the Elf Shiwoo - they were originally released as OE and Dreaming - but for Dreaming read "sleeping". (Luts called all sculpts that were asleep or half open eyed as "Dreaming").

The trick is to look for the teeth - only the Dreaming Elf Shiwoos had teeth. This one belongs to my friend, lillykitten (He is modded, since his eyes aren't shut) - she also owns an OE Elf Shiwoo (you can see him here).

And note, its the Elf 06 Lishe which has a narrower face than a normal Lishe. The Elf 05 (whose promo shot you used) is only different from a normal Lishe because of the ears. (other than the Dreaming and Dreaming Elf Vamp versions.) - you can kind of see it in this shot here - the Elf 06 is on the far right, all the others have normal faces.

    12. @cian Your video was such a fun trip down memory lane :XD: Thank you for creating the tiering system! I did my own tiering here which is quite different to yours.. :whee: My S and A rankings are dolls I own, used to own or would like to own... hehehe

    13. [IMG]

Huh... It won't let me swap the pictures in the editor, or delete one of them. Sorry for "breaking the rules" and having two.

But for reference, this is the unmodified sleeping elf version of Shiwoo.

    14. No Dark Elf or Angel Elf Soo? Do they just fall under Soo? I ask as I really like DES, but normal Soo would be further down on my list.

      • x 2
    15. I saw her on eBay and was so close to bidding on her, but when I got home from work, she was gone, she was lovely!

    16. I kept debating on bidding on her! She was beautiful!~
Had she been a Shiwoo though I would have just drained my bank account. :sweat

    17. Thanks for sharing those differences :) I only got into the hobby in 2008ish and most of what I said are what I heard/read about and I didn't really research on the details so it's helpful to hear that. I didn't know the 06 Elf Lishe has a narrower face... I always thought all the elf Lishe were the same sculpt so I often got confused why some Elf lishes looked thinner while others didn't. And ah, the name "dreaming" for shiwoo when he has a sleeping face combined with the fact that alot of owners modded the sleeping eyes to dreaming made me confused as well. Your explanation clears it up for me, thank you!

I'm happy to hear it was a fun trip down memory lane! Ahh, yes our rankings are quite different but I see my F tier ones in your F tier too haha

Thank you for sharing! It's rare to see an unmodified one, I've only came across the ones who had their eyes modded to Dreaming. His teeth and elf ears are so cute :3

I wasn't sure what's the difference between Soo, AES and DES, so since the page I was referring to listed just Soo, that's what I went with I'm curious, how is DES different from normal Soo?

    18. This page has photos of all the versions of Soo if you scroll down. DES and AES both have a thinner nose, pointier chin, and the eye shape on each is different.

      Soo

    19. Wow, that's an amazing reference @Tonboko thanks :D

    20. Did someone call for an unmodded Elf Shiwoo? Joining in on the spam. :) Peanut is my BW boy and my favourite thing about him is his little teeth! I was so lucky to snag him. His original owner had taken such great care of him that he perfectly matches his Type 3 body eventhough they are almost 10 years apart in manufacture dates!

    21. Chiwoo shipped today! Now to impatiently await his arrival and prepare a boat loat of outfits to try on. Do CP Delf boys have small feet? I used to have a more modern Delf girl and she could wear some MSD shoes.

      @clowve
      I love your boy's style!

    22. New picture of my Juri05, Emily. She had a smudge on her face I didn't see! Luckily it came off with a damp rag. Here she is cleaned up :whee:.

      Everyone's Shiwoos are so adorable!!!

    24. Thank you @SacredMonsoon , why I can't get names straight is beyond me, LOL. I've always mixed those two up but now my Lishe and Emily are so different, you'd think I'd get it right??. I just realized I messed up and came in to fix it.... But I Waz too wate!

    25. Not sure if this will help as a comparison, but here are my two "twins". On the left is my AES, and the right is my DES. The AES has much more full cheeks and rounder eyes. The DES is more pointy? Her features are very sharp and thin.
The ears are not a good comparison though, I do not know the difference in them as my AES arrived with broken ears that I had to re-sculpt.

I initially purchased the AES thinking that she was a DES because the sales pictures were so bad. It took someone else pointing out to me that she didn't look like a standard DES and me putting her next to my DES that I realized she was an AES. My luck isn't usually that good. :sweat

      • x 6
    26. @Angelesk they're both so beautiful! And not all twins are perfectly alike so it works ;)

also I've officially decided to put it out there that I'm looking for a NS Lishe girl so if anyone sees one, and you're not interested in her yourself, let me know :whee:
(all right after I say 'I don't have the space or money for another delf!' I decide to sell a bunch of my other toys & dolls and think, 'well I guess I do now!' :sweat:sweat)

    27. Aww Thank you so much! I love them both too!
I would love to find a VDES and a Human Soo, but I'm not searching too hard. I have been in the hobby long enough now that my patience for finding discontinued sculpts is WAY better now than it was in the past.

    28. @Angelesk Oh yeah VDES and Human are going to be tough. It always felt like DES and AES were more popular too... I'll keep you in mind though if I see any ;)
The wait for an old sculpt or htf doll always seems more difficult than the wait for a preorder :sweat
Doesn't CP have an anniversary coming up? If my research tells me right their first doll, Ari, was released in 2002?
I would love to see them come out with some of the old Delf sculpts for an anniversary event. Even if they are just event heads it would be so nice to see them casted again <3

    29. Thank you so much! It's always nice to have a group of enablers to help out with the search. <3 I'm not sure if they'll ever release the old CP sculpts again, I would be surprised if they still had any molds from the originals. I suppose if they did, it would be on their new bodies and styles, which would still be nice but I'm sure they'd have huge size differences.
But you're right, it's hard waiting on hard to find dolls! Especially keeping money held to the side for something that may not show up for 5+ years! :sweat

      • x 2
    30. @Angelesk yeah, I'm hoping enough people asked for some older sculpts to make returns on that survey they had a few months ago. I asked for Delf If and have kept my fingers crossed since but...yeah lol. At least if the F60s ever come back we know they have Lishe and El molds for them from a couple years ago and they are pretty true to the originals. You're probably right about the masters too. I remember when F60 Juri '12 came out, she was said to have been sculpted from scratch because the master Delf Juri '05 was gone. I have a suspicion that's what happened with the Elf Soony versus Delf Soony. Also think that when the older MNFs were discontinued the first time for magnet additions and only some of them returned due to interest, it was actually because master copies were broken or damaged when trying to add the magnets. I've seen some other people say this too when certain sculpts disappear lol. I mean, stuff happens. These materials don't last forever and people can also make mistakes.
Personally, I'm not opposed to the new bodies. I'm actually considering getting a F60 Moe body for my Juri '05 one day, but I understand why some people are not interested in them. The OG bodies have a personality of their own, just like the Feeple bodies! It can make a huge difference in your doll's look!

    31. Thanks for explaining and linking that page. I did see that page but I didn't realise the difference in the sculpts themself... To be fair, my attention tends to be more on the male sculpts than female ones haha.

Aww, he's so cool and he looks really good for a BW doll! I love his expressio and teeth :) Given that my own BW Lishe boy (made in 2009 so probably younger than Peanut) may actually be yellower than yours, I really think the original owner took good care of him ^-^

Oh this is so helpful! The cheeks are the most prominent difference but the nose, mouth, eyes are all slightly different as well. That's really interesting, thanks for sharing! Also both your girls are pretty :3

    32. Wow, it's not just in the eyes! I definitely see a difference in the face. Wow, they're beautiful!

Do be aware that the new MOE bodies are quite a bit smaller than the old F60 and even smaller yet than the Delf bodies. The old mold heads are bigger than the newer FL heads so this could make a big difference in looks.

      • x 1
    33. I'm hoping to get an F60 Carol at some point too, and I can't wait to see the differences between them. Snow is getting a Zaoll body soon too. Here's a little bit of Snow today too, old because I haven't been able to take pics yet!

      [IMG]IMG_20210429_172403_999 by Emily, on Flickr

    34. F60 females are actually only around 55cm (for moe and non-moe) so there could be a pretty big size gap compared to a Delf. As for the head molds, a big reason why I believe a lot of them were never brought back is because there might be a legality issue on who owns the sculpts. Is it Luts or Fairyland? Luts owns the Delf lines, I know that much, so Fairyland may not own many of the old sculpts as well. They could also very well have made agreements that no one owns (or can re-release) some of the sculpts.

      • x 1
    35. Oh, Snow will be happy to have her own body :D She's coming together :D I do hope you're feeling better and will be up and going again soon @SacredMonsoon

    36. @IngieBee The size difference really depends on the head - My Nanuri As (Chloe) are the same size as my Delf Lishes, and in some cases, the Nanuri A has a larger head. The newer the sculpt, the more likely they are to be smaller, but not all of them are.

Here's a shot of my Delf Elf 06 (in the middle) on an A-line F60, with an F60 head (left) on a Delf type 2 and another F60 head (right) on an F70.

You can see the heads of my Nanuri A and Elf 06 compared here, although my Elf 06 does have a slightly smaller head than normal. You can see a comparison of my approx 2010 Delf Lishe head (NS) and a then brand new F60 Lishe head here - but all that really shows is how the mould shrinks over time - but in that case, the F60 headback wouldn't fit onto the Delf's head.

I think I took these pictures when someone suggested that the F60 heads would be significantly smaller than the original Delfs.

@Cap'n I don't think Luts ever owned more than the rights to sell the dolls - if they did, then they would have casted them and they never did. They are the reason that Breakaway is now sold as "Ital", but if there had been more of a problem, then they probably would have told us.

      • x 2
    37. Thank you! Original owner definitely did. I don't think Peanuts head was played with ever since he came to me with his original masking tape which I still keep on his headcap. Btw I've just seen your ranking video! And your accent is so familiar, are you in Malaysia/Singapore by any chance? :)

    38. CP explained when the split happened that they own the rights to the individual sculpts they stamped their logo in, their individual names (Lishe, El, Nanuri, etc) and they own the rights to the EE/easy exchange (twist and lock) neck mechanism. Luts owns the name “Delf”. I believe the body designs are also owned by Luts - hence why Type 5 and Type 4 are more similar to the Type 1, 2, & 3 bodies and Feeple is where CP got to do their own thing. Not sure about the bodies though because that wouldn’t explain why Fairyland carried the B-line minifee for so long after the split. As for the heads, they were all pretty huge until around Yder’s release. Can’t say for sure, but it seems more like that wasn’t due to sizing but more due to CP refining their sculpting and becoming well known for their slimmer dolls as Fairyland became a thing. But I do understand that means the actual sculpts themselves would have to be redone to suit the available bodies :whee:

      • x 2
    39. I feel like I low-key remember this came to surface after Fairyland had released their own Breakaway (Midnight Sun I think?) and Luts wasn't having it? I remember the release of that BA was controversial but I'm not entirely sure if this incident might've been the match to start that fire

      • x 1
    40. @clowve I think you're right. I went back and read the Wordpress page again and that seemed to be the first incident of mass confusion between Luts, CP/FL, and customers. They released F70 versions of Moon & Breakaway after calling them limited edition at Luts. At that point they were working to make the CP Delfs compatible with their new Feeple lines.
      http://dollfairyland.com/board/view...OARD4&choose2=&choose1=&pagenow=12&CB=&ID=105
Also I went back and looked more at the bodies - the original delf bodies were sculpted by CP but Luts owns the rights and their sculptors made modifications as time went on and they created their own heads. I had to go back and fact check myself because I don't want to put any misinformation out there lol.

    41. Oh and speaking of breakaways there are two F65 Ital/Breakaways on Ebay right now! Its two faces - scar and human - with one head back and they have beautiful faceups! About $400 for both with shipping. Have to say, it's quite tempting :sweat

      • x 1
    42. Great sleuthing! I remember it caused quite the stir even on here as well as some people who had snagged Breakaways in the last Luts run (Bloody Valentine I think?) felt disappointed that Breakaways could be an annual thing (or something to that effect). Think some scalpers were concerned with the rates they could flip Breakaways for if they became less limited than expected. I didn’t care, i'd happy if BAs made it into Standard release tbh. Everyone should be able to get a BA if they wanted to :D (and not pay far beyond RRP imo)

      • x 3
    43. I managed to snag a Breakaway last year and I am definitely not disappointed. The problem is he makes me want to snag another lol. <3

      • x 1
    44. Good for you! I know how that feels as that urge has resulted in me having 2 heads myself. My very first bjd, Bambi, is a 2005 modded vampire Breakaway, but when I came across another opened eye one, I jumped at the chance. Now Bambi has 2 heads which alternate, but really, it was just any excuse for 2 BAs hahah

      • x 1
    45. Breakaways are like rabbits. You get one.. then another... and the next thing you know, you look around and you're surrounded by them. :sweat

One of mine is still in need of a body, though... My (non-vampire) Sleeping head from the Midnight release lost his Type 2 Delf bod to one of the other guys and has never gotten it back.

      • x 3
    46. While we're talking about BAs, I would love to see some of your BAs! He has always been a sculpt I super admire but I don't think I'll ever own him. Please spam some photos of BA, pretty please?

I see! I always have mixed feelings about well-kept dolls being well kept only because their first owners didn't play much with them. On one hand it's great for the next owner since the doll is almost new but on the other hand I feel sad for the doll, haha. And yes, I'm from Singapore. Are you from Singapore/Malaysia too?

      • x 1
    47. @clowve I can imagine the frustration! I was still new to the BJD community at the time & now the history/stuff I missed is fascinating to me lol. But yeah, these dolls are investments and, just like in other collectibles, rereleases can and will change the price of originals. Even if you're not just in it for the money, it's still important to know the value of what you've got just in case.
At least with the multiple releases of Breakaways (in this example), it's pretty easy to figure out which release you have since all of them have been so different. Like, even though he was released as a Feeple, the Feeple head system was much different than his head as a Delf, which I believe was the Type 1/S hook versus the Feeple exclusively using the twist and lock. I will say we are lucky in our hobby to have such obvious differences where say, comic book collectors, only have like barcode numbers or something to go off of when figuring out an issue release :| (one of the most frustrating hobbies I ever took part in...)
@TopHatDown @Brightfires I'm manifesting this mentality lol - I want multiple Breakaways so bad :drool Don't get me wrong - I love my El and I know Breakaway is a modified El but having both?! Dreammmm! Holding out hope for a Delf '05 release of him! :abambi:
@cian I second this spam request :aheartbea

    55. Malaysian here! Hi neighbor! I think the fact that the doll is in pristine condition trumps any other feeling for me haha. At the end of the day, a doll on mint condition is better for a buyer than one that has wear and tear, truth be told.

Ask for BA spam and you shall receive! Here's Bambi with the her biggest competition for my attention. FYI the console is actually so huge, she's standing pretty comfortably to even lean on it this way lol

    56. Is that why I have so many of them...? I thought it was because of their evil habits... unfortunately none are OT for this thread, since I only have Fairyland releases.

The 2008 releases of the Breakaway - Bloody Valentine and the Midnight Blue/Midnight Sun F70s were exactly the same head, down to the neck mech. I think you'll find they even have the same stamp on the inside of their heads. That was part of the problem. (Plus they were released at pretty much exactly the same time). The difference is that Bloody Valentine has an OE and a dreaming Vamp head (i.e. sleeping); while the F70 release had an OE, a sleeping and a proper Dreaming (with half open eyes).

The first two Delf Breakaways - the Limited (Vamp with open mouth) and the Delf Art Count Verre (Vamp with closed mouth) were both type 1s.

Here are two of mine (OT for the thread) with my on topic Delf Lishe/F70 hybrid.

You can see the full set of F70 BA heads here - there are two OEs in the photo and the Dreaming has uber eyelashes. [For the sake of clarity - the dreaming has the Midnight Sun faceup, and the first OE - also in the photo on the left, has a Midnight Blue faceup]

      • x 2
    57. Verre had the regular Type 1 sleeping vampire head as far as I remember... I don't think he had a unique closed-mouth Type 1. He just had a face-up that made it less obvious.

(For the curious, here's his original Delf Art sale page-)

    58. Man, I remember when Luts used to get Poppy to do all their special edition doll faceups. Still dream of getting a doll faced-up by her :love
