CP Delf Discussion Part 12

Oh my gosh it looks like I missed out on so many good photos during my package debacle!

To update you all: He finally got here safely! His head got pulled from Philadelphia distribution Friday, and then got to my home safe and sound Saturday morning (of course, while I was at work).

His head is also a pretty close match! About 95%, just barely different in person, but not so much on camera haha. Now all that's left is to give him a new mischievous face and find a tan body for Dmitri (the OE head)!

 

Congrats @JellyParade! He's beautiful!! I love El's!

Help me, Delf thread! You're my only hope!

I'm working on cleaning out my extra doll bits and... I have a body. It's a girl body that I bought in late 2006 or early 2007 for a doll that never happened. Since the doll never happened, the body's just been quietly reposing in its box, gently yellowing, for, uh, fifteen years. Aheh.

It's been so long that I don't know what type of Delf body it is! I'm pretty sure it's a Type 1, but... is it? How can I tell which body I have?

 

@Gallye I'm pretty sure you can tell by the neck. If it's an S-hook then you have a type 1, if it has a twist mechanism it's a type 2 or 3.

 

These are like 15 years old and I don't have them anymore, but it's my old El and Lishe!

Had to show off Aiko's new dress! Found it on amazon & couldn't resist lol. And I took JellyParade's comment on Aiko looking like she needed some butterfly clips and made it reality

 

@kaboomkim Thank you! Also, I've used the site many times for references, especially when searching to find which release my OE El was from! It's a handy guide and so well organized! It's how I found out about the "sibling" sculpts like El and Lishe, Chiwoo and Shiwoo, plus things like Breakaway just being a modded El haha.

Hi all!
I've just been lurking and looking at the pretty pics, but today i wanted to share some of my Delfs.

Please bare with me cause I recently moved to another city and I barely know where my stuff is, much less the dolls stuff, so I just grabbed some wigs and some clothes that kinda went together and had them pose. ^^;;

Anyway, here's a semi-decent pic of my Caesar, a modded Woosoo.

And my Yder Jasper.

@kaboomkim I think the suggestion was that eventually all the MNFs at the time would have had the Elf / Elf Vampire versions, but from what I understand those style of heads were the brainchild of Luts, not CP, so when they split, CP stopped making them.

Yeah, that website is the work of @littlegreythings - she did a great job with it. She herself is an El collector and her collection and photography are amazing.

Oof I haven't been on DoA much because I have an ant infestation in my house and there's quite a few of them in my computer room, so I've been avoiding it It's nice to come back and see y'all still posting Delfs!! I was behind by like 5 pages lmao so I just left a bunch of hearts on some posts, hehe.

@himitsu I'm in love with your Woosoo!! and @Kim Pickle is so anime with his green theme, I love him.

 

@TeaPartyRevolution Hm, interesting that was luts' idea since fairyland had a few VE sculpts of their own, such as Nanuri 10/ve Chloe, but even those are far and few between these days. And thank you for letting me know who made the site! I like giving credit where it is due and I love referencing that site lol.

Aw thank you @kaboomkim i love Snow lady luwens are so rare, luwens in general seem to be! I can't wait to get her finished too! She's already so pretty~

 

i just realized who Lishe is always reminding me of, and it's Suzanne Pleshette who played Bob Newhart's wife on the Bob Newhart show. I keep seeing herr, and thinking of that actress, it's so funny! I just had to get it out of my system, LOL

Wow, I missed so many great pictures, I'm glad I wanted to post about Ms. Pleshettte so I could find out I've been left behind :P

 

@kaboomkim I think they probably started after they realised how popular they were once they did them for Luts. You have to remember that the split was in 2008 (the Elf Chloe or Nanuri A didn't come out until 2012 - the MNF version was probably around 2010 - would need to check). But from what I understand (and again, I'm happy to be corrected) Luts were the ones who asked CP to create the Vamp / Vamp Elf sculpts rather than CP thinking them up on their own. Most of them originally were limited editions and only available in short periods.
I think the Shiwoo Vamp was one of the only ones who wasn't a limited.

Since we were discussing it, here's a shot of my modded Dreaming Elf Lishe 05 (far right with the skull top), along with two Nanuri As and a WS F60 Lishe.

My girlies Juniper and Winter I love changing up their styles! Soony is all CP delf; Lishe is a feeple60 lishe on new type3 luts delf body.

@TeaPartyRevolution First of all, your girls are beautiful. Always love seeing anyone from your Lishe family It would make sense that CP keeps doing the VE sculpts after luts, like you said, they are some more popular sculpts. And that timeline sounds about right from what I remember, but I didn't get into the bjd hobby until about '09-'10 so I had to read about it from other people lol. Delfs were the first bjds I remember seeing/wanting but that was a confusing time to get into the hobby with them. I do remember when Chloe was released though! Everyone had to have her. And I think Shiwoo vamp was the only regular sale vampire (that I can remember) before the split. Fairyland had VE Woosoo and some other elves for a long time, but only minifees. Feeple elves would pop up a lot but you could never count on how long they'd last...
Speaking of Shiwoo & elves from CP I wish we had more CP elves with Elf Shiwoo's slightly downturned ears! They're so cute and it's always a treat seeing them

My dollmore order came in with the wig and tights, so even so my shoes were cancelled due to them not having pink, I went ahead and put my Emily (Juri 5) together and took a couple of snapshots. She looks SO much better, I love it!

Oh good, @Kirafay thank you. It's amazing what the right wig will do. Since getting her, nothing really worked until I was inspired by the Fer on sale and SacredMonsoon's beautifully pink/pastel girls. And that finally clicked, thank goodness as I'm sick of buying wigs!! LOL

 

had a little doll time today and tossed my soony who ive been calling egghead (for obvious reasons lmao) in an oversized sweater. ive kinda been ignoring her but it’s only because her actual body is still on long layaway ;o;

 

Your Soony is so sweet @nanaminore !!! Makes me nostalgic for pre-faceup Amyas I just adore Soony without makeup, her sculpt is too cute!

 

Oh Soony is so awesome @nanaminore , I hope you can get her together soon and feel the same joy I felt putting the right wig and a new outfit on my Juri. She finally has whatever look I was going for all these years but didn't know it LOL.

@JellyParade , maybe you should try different wigs too. I didn't have one that worked I guess, but this one I'm very pleased with and it just made her the doll I always wanted her to be

I've just received my Juri from her face up and took some quick photos! I decided I'm going to name her Nova. So happy after a little over a year, she is finally finished.

She is in the US! She has done two of my crew including my AES (she happily recreated an old CP style for her since I want all my Elf Soos to have a similar look).

Aiko's new eyes came in! I'm having a hard time getting the actual color photographed but they're like a dark fuchsia color? It's the best way I can describe it I wanted her to have pink eyes to go with her pink & pastel look; they're darker than I was anticipating but I like the look! And while I was changing her eyes, right when I decided I was going to try and keep this faceup a bit longer,I noticed her liner is starting to chip on the inside and the inner corners I did some more inspecting on her face and saw the sealant is starting to rub away around where her ears are. I always wear my cotton gloves when I have to handle their heads to try and prevent faceup damage, so I'm suspecting this is just natural wear and tear on the faceup. It's at least 8 years old!
So, Aiko will probably be getting a new faceup in the coming weeks. I'm not in a rush to wipe her, as this faceup has grown on me more than I thought when I first got her, and I have other projects to finish first lol. But I am excited for the idea of painting another Delf! I had sooo much fun doing my El's faceup and he was such a satisfying sculpt to work on. I also find it much easier to paint dolls when they have huge heads
...Ok I think I'm done rambling for now lol

 

Like you, I'm thinking my Juri needs pink or purple eyes, too bad though, as her current ones sit so well. Even so they are dark, I can still see the light coming through in the picture revealing their true fantasy nature @kaboomkim i love them

 

@IngieBee Aw, the never ending struggle of choosing whether or not to change your doll lol! I know what you mean. I had grown to love Aiko's first pair of eyes so much I almost didn't want to change to the new ones! But I made myself do it because these ones were expensive and I waited almost two months for them
I've had other dolls where I can't decide on eyes and just give them two different eyes and call it heterochromia

 

I finally got me a Yder head. He's cast the same year as my Dreaming Moon, my first bjd purchase, so it made me a little more special to me.


The only issue I think I might have is trying to track down a body that's going to match his resin. I really want to get a newer body without having to body blush or having to do a new face up just to match a body.

 

I hope you can find something. I love when people keep those original faceups.
I was super lucky to find an old Volks body that perfectly matched my white KDF Ani. Some times things just work out.

 

@Hana Doku Yay another human Yder congratulations on bringing him home! Does he have the old BW faceup on NS resin? Or is it custom? I hope you find a suitably colored body.
