@IngieBee I'd say if you never plan on selling her, go for it! Otherwise it just might make it a touch more difficult to sell in the future. I know when it comes to older dolls like Delfs, I prefer as few modifications as possible. But if someone really wants the doll piercings shouldn't devalue too much anyway! It's not like you're modifying the sculpt in a major way

 

Agreed. I am NOT a fan of piercings. If I had the choice, I would choose to pay more for one without them, but that did not stop me from getting either my tan DES or my AES. The old Delfs are just too rare to be anally picky when they show up.

 

Thanks ya'all I got her a gorgeous necklace that is kind of elf like and I'll see how she looks in everything before deciding on earrings /pierced or not. Maybe I'll just glue half pearls on her lobes I have to wait until Monday to make my wig order (getting a few other things too to save on shipping)

Thank you, @Brightfires, I really couldn't think of what the "Shiwoo Crew's" name was! I wonder if they're still around, I'd love to join it, even if I only have 11. (My LittleFee Shiwoo has a Sleeping faceplate as well as an OE one, does that count as one or two Shiwoo?) Definitely need MOAR SHIWOO! Oh man, a Moon! I'd love to have one!

Congrats, @talithax on bringing Kyran home! I still want an El, maybe I should go to the FL site and add it to my Shiwoo wants. But I have to admit, I'm loving living vicariously through my partner's Kitsune. I'm still trying to have a pic of him posted in this thread!

Lucky you, @LupusDarkmoon! Love "Winter's" faceup, its so different! I do have two Shiwoo with factory faceups, but they're MNFs, so not on topic with this thread. My Crew (Shiwoo and non-Shiwoo) are also all over the house. I love to have them where I can see them, they make me smile. Although, between my partner and myself, having well over 20 BJDs (mostly SDs and larger) all over is becoming a challenge to put them where they can be seen in a small house. I'm hoping that the IKEA cabinet I plan on getting will help. Of course, I'll be taking them out to play with and take pics of, but still, I'm hoping the case will help keep dust off of them.

I'm quite happy with the one Chiwoo I managed to grab via the second hand market. Shuichi is really cute, so I definitely see the attraction. He's keeping his body, having dolls share them, I don't think I like doing that very much. Sternauge (DES merman) is quite delighted to have one of his own.

Congrats @witch-hammer on "joining" the Shiwoo Crew! He's a real "doll!" Whoa, is that a factory faceup?

I am loving everyone's spring pics, I'm so happy that there's more sunlight shining through the windows now, even if my Goth self doesn't like to go out into it much.

@SacredMonsoon, if you think about it, most humans have bodies that are lighter than their heads due to being out in the sun/weather. So, as long as her body is in the same color range, it should still work, even without scarves. Good luck getting her body, have you found it yet?

I have to agree that I don't like permanent piercings either. I forget which doll it was, but I didn't do it correctly, and the bottom broke off. I ended up gluing the parts back on, and hiding the broken parts with an earring, but ever since then, I would use stick-on earrings. I was going to permanently pierce Noriko's ears before the "mishap," but her hair usually hides her (elf) ears anyway.

Here is a (more summer-themed) pic of Sternauge (BG DES merman), showing off the custom star eyes that give him his name. Sternauge means "star eyes" in German. I think I want to start working on his next merman tail, I'm just formulating how I'm going to do so since it will be using some of the sequined fabric I got for him, and I've never worked with it before. I've always imagined him being able to change the colors of his tail.

Just in case it's of use/interest to anyone here. I gave my old and very yellowed (modded) CP Delf girl body a bath in Polident denture/prosthetic cleaner and it reduced the yellowing considerably. It's not back to the colour it was when new, but it is visibly de-yellowed and far pinker. The head and hands are from other companies, before anyone asks. (the head, sadly has faded drastically and had taken on a green tinge before the Polident bath).

You know , if you don't mind the head NOT being white, it's pretty easy to blush it a darker color. If you can get it another body that's darker. I've matched several dolls with my pastel set, which has so far given me very close matches, with some mistakes I made due to being impatient and not testing first or working in artificial light, LOL On the darker colors, the sealant can darken them more.

This thread = old CP/Luts "delfs" prior to Luts and Fairyland splitting apart. CP owns Fairyland. After the split, a lot of Delf heads were discontinued, and eventually all of them were.

I will buy dolls with piercings, depending on the piercing. I don't like nose piercings at all, or the plugs that make stretched out holes in the ears, but lobe and cartilage piercings on the ears are subtle enough to be not noticeable if I don't want them to be noticeable.

 

Agreed! I think my issue was not being confident enough to buy a pin vise to drill the earring holes. I also don’t have the time or energy to destroy a pair of ears to make gauges... I guess that’s why my stick on earrings work so well in theory.

Anybody have any good sewing patterns for Delfs, girl or boy? Some SD sewing patterns I've found are ok but none that fit just right and I'm not good at making patterns myself

 

Gracefaerie makes a few, including a basic corset pattern for the old Luts doll.

 

Missy's Imaginings (< ready to print PDF page)has a lot of different patterns (< some pattern previews, you might have to scroll past alternative "free stuff") for SDs! While I think a few are too big/baggy for smaller SDs like Delfs (some were made for skinny but taller bodies) some of them are super easy to resize/hem to fit. I used the SD boy sweater pattern for Amyas a while ago-- and all I did to adjust was cut the sleeves and torso pieces a little shorter, and then hemmed them. She also has some tutorials on YouTube, you need to see what models she's using for what patterns! Hope that helps you some! @kaboomkim

 

She’s so pretty! Her mods look really good...which is probably why the previous owner didn’t know. I’ve had modded dolls that were hard to find and keep them until I could find an unmodded one. Can’t wait to see her with a face up :-)

 

@Tonboko @JellyParade Thank you both so much! I'll definitely check them out. I've tried modifying and resizing the patterns I've used for my 65cm girl but I'm not that talented lol. I did try to make a sweatshirt pattern for Delfs similar to my fave one for MSDs. Going to test it out tonight and see how it goes! I'll definitely still need some patterns from those links tho

 

So my Dreaming El head was in Warrendale distribution two days ago... then Pittsburgh distribution yesterday......... and now it’s back at Warrendale as of 9pm?! It should have been here yesterday at the latest if it was in Pittsburgh in general! Why USPS, why?!

For image hosting, I use Flickr now but you have to copy the bb code from the desktop site if you're on mobile. It's a bit of a pain!

Took some proper photos of my Tanning Chiwoo, accompanied by my modded Vampire Elf Chiwoo (who is on a sanded girl Delf body)

The bad thing is that it was! The seller sent a picture so I would know what to look for, and my address was legible and correct... but it didn’t even make it to my neighborhood! I was really looking forward to getting him today too...

@JellyParade so sorry to hear about your troubles. USPS has been strange lately. I sent my cousin a birthday gift & its been in her city for 5 days now and tracking says out for delivery but never got delivered

 

Oh wow, that's weird @kaboomkim. I was hoping today that he would arrive because this has happened before (with a doll, too) where they've told me suddenly it was being returned to the sender and then it shows up at my door the same exact day after "travelling to another distribution center."

I got my breakaway back home from Bangarang yesterday! I'm completely in love.



I don't have a wig for him yet so I just put this spare one on him for now. I was planning on giving him red hair but I actually quite like how the blonde looks. I might just order him a few different ones and see which I like best xD

Oh - my stepdad visited me at work today and told me he'd seen this picture on Instagram and it gave him a sleepless night Apparently Ethan is scary looking. I thought this was excellent and took it as a compliment haha.

As someone who used to really, really creep people out doing this myself, it's the eyes. Some people do not like looking at people with their eyes rolled that far back in their head with so much white showing.

Once you have uploaded, you'll have to go to the flickr website, and in the bottom right of your image there'll be an arrow/share button-- then you just copy the BB code at whatever size you'd like, and paste it into DOA!

 

I had that problem recently too, tried flickr, imgur, and a bunch of other couldn't get them to work with my phone or tablet. I use discord now, I have a private channel I load my picture to and then put the photos link in the photo box on here. Its the easiest image host I've found.

Try using a smaller photo size. I can see it when I quote you, but I think the image is too large to post.

 

to use the bbcode on flickr, you need to 1st view the website in desktop mode (a setting in most browsers on phones, then hit the curved arrow in the black field that your picture is shown on, then on the table it shows you, you have to choose bbcode, and finally, you have to make sure the pictures is small enough for DoA, something like 480x640

 

I also can see them when I reply, you just need to choose a smaller size in the drop down menu under bbcode. But oh boy, those two are CUTE!
