CP Delf Discussion Part 11

Aug 19, 2019

    1. Thanks for the info TeaPartyRevolution!
I would have been such a sad bjd dreamer if I'd discovered these dolls when they were originally for sale!
One of my friends was able to buy a lot of the Delfs when they were first out so I enjoyed her dolls once I did discover bjds.
Another friend was telling me of sitting, waiting for the Delf sales to begin, hoping to get one purchased before they sold out but not managing to get the one she'd hoped for. I can't imagine what it was like when they were first coming out. And then the disappointment many folks felt when the resin began to discolor on them. Good thing I'm fine with mellow resin & beauty greenish white...
Vampire teeth are tricky when they are small & subtle, which is the way I like them. Y'der, Lishe & my Maskcat Lisette all have hints of teeth in the corners of their mouths. I'm glad you're happy with how your Lishe's teeth appeared after her faceup redo. :)

    2. I didn't start collecting until 2008/2009, so I missed all the original releases. I did participate in my friend's attempt to get a Smoky Quartz Siwoo - of which there are only five, and it was an absolute shemozzle with dodgy connections and things not being loaded when they should have been.
Long and short, we didn't manage to get one then - luckily someone who did get one knew she wanted him, and sold him onto her.

I have spent a long time searching secondhand marketplaces and the like and eventually I was lucky enough to find all the old Delf releases - I am quite proud of myself, I have managed to collect at least one version of every Lishe released, except for the oldest fullset the "Sweety Lishe", but I have all the others.

    3. Love that very baroque photo, @cthulhu , the colors are amazing in there!

@TeaPartyRevolution I always love seeing your Lishes, but I didn't know they released a male Lishe. Do you have that one?

    4. Two years ago we put together a Delf's for the CP booth at Dollscar in Russia. Among the presented dolls was Lishe Dreaming boy. It was purchased by the owner directly from Luts.[IMG]

    5. Thanks IngieBee! Its always fun playing with the filters on either the camera or the photo edit options.
Luthien has such a dark & dramatic faceup along with her Lishe vampire air, that she always demands royal respect.
But sadly she settled here about the time I became less obsessed with constantly photographing the dolls...looking for photos of her yesterday it is clear I need to begin taking more photos again!!!

    6. Nadincat what a fun chance to see all the Delfs together!
Someday I'd love to see the creative displays & dolls at a large bjd event like Dollscar. Even if it is simply enjoying the photos from them...

    7. I do have him, yes. He's my only incomplete Delf Art - the Lupinus Lishe. Unfortunately a lot of people dismantled him as a fullset, so I was only able to find his head, I still have to find the eyes, wig and outfit to go with him, but I don't have much hope that I will find it. As you can tell from the photo above, even there he's not in his fullset.

But he was an OE, not a Dreaming - the Dreaming was the Perennis, who was a girl.

Here he is with the Perennis, before I got her wig:

    8. Lishe boy is anything different from Lishe girls?

    9. Other than the male body and the faceup, not at all. The Perennis Dreaming has a different style dreaming eye than the usual dreaming Lishes, but the Lupinus was just a Type 2 head.

    10. @TeaPartyRevolution
I have been reading through your conversation about your male Lishe. I didn't know that there was a male version that was released officially. I have only seen where people have made the sculpt more masculine looking and gave it a male body. He's very handsome though!

This does make me wonder what has happened to the more limited dolls that were released. I remember when the Cyberpunk Shiwoo was released and I wanted him so badly I could barely stand it. But what about the even more rare ones? Does anyone happen to know of anyone else who owns a rare (upon release) Delf sculpt?

    11. I also have a funny (and terrible) story for you guys too. Buckle up!

As I mentioned before, I won a AES off of YJapan! I had chosen to ship DHL as that seemed to be the quickest and the most reliable with current events.
The day it shipped, I got my confirmation email that it was shipped and everything was correct. My address was good, my name, etc. This was Tuesday.

Yesterday I got another email, this time it was a CHANGE OF ADDRESS to a location about 45 minutes away from my house. This location was actually a hotel with a room number. In a panic, I attempted to login to DHL with my tracking number and I was met with it asking to send a confirmation number to a phone number that wasn't mine.....well....not anymore. The phone number on file was mine at one point, as DHL had the last four digits to the number shown. I haven't owned that phone number in years, long enough that it shouldn't have been attached to my DHL or YJapan. So where did it come from?

After calling DHL, they rectified the issues and now she is back on track to me.

But being crazypants, I was FURIOUS and couldn't just let it go. :doh
I called the Police in the County where they were sending the package to. They told me that they couldn't do anything about it and I would have to call the post office that currently has the package (It hasn't even left Japan yet). I told them that it's likely that I have the person's phone number since I'm GUESSING they were getting texts updating them with the package information and they just decided to change the address to a random hotel and room number so that no one got the package. They still didn't want to pursue it, and I totally get that.
      But...I was still mad.

So I called the drop off point for the package and asked to be transferred to the room number. Knowing that they wouldn't have caller ID on the corded phone. It rang, rang, rang, rang....and nothing.

Honestly, I didn't have a clue what I would have said if someone had picked up. It could have been a clueless stranger, or it could have been the person who tried to steal my doll. I hadn't really thought that far in advance, I just knew I was fuming and no one really wanted to do anything. Now, short of calling my old phone number I'm just sitting here stalking DHL until she arrives. :sigh

    12. After 10 years I finally have another CP Delf doll! ^_^
Anyone know what sewing patterns for clothes fit the older female body? Or are easily modifiable? There's so many Iplehouse and smart doll patterns but I'm not sure how they would translate..

      • x 1
    13. Iplehouse would definitely be too big. SmartDoll might fit though. Might be a little big but not as bad as Iplehouse.

    14. Take a look here.

Things are suitable for Zaoll, but you need to take into account the difference in height.

      • x 1
    15. Yeek! What a dreadful experience!
      Fingers crossed!

      Teddy
(I'd have to say, I'd be tempted to call the old number just to find out who it is)

    16. Truthfully, if I wasn't worried about caller ID and she wasn't going to my parent's house (who have my kids during the week) I would have. But since they had changed my address, they likely could have as much information on me as I do on them. I didn't want to risk anything too serious. I really wish the police would have at LEAST followed up on the phone number, if nothing else maybe it would have scared them. :sigh

    17. @Angelesk - They have only released one officially, and there were only 5 of them in total, CP have never done it again.

As for the limited dolls, I know of a few people who have them - I personally have three Delf Arts, Dear My Lady Lishe and the before mentioned Lupinus and Perennis. Unlike my Lupinus, my Perennis and Dear My Lady are complete fullsets.
My friend with the Shiwoo addiction has the Cyber Bohemian and the Prince of Darkness, both of which are complete fullsets. The rarest would probably be the Prince of Darkness, of which there were only 4 sold. There are five of each of the Lishe fullsets. Cyber Bohemian was a limited edition of 100.

Unfortunately, I have seen cases where people have spent the money to purchase these dolls (and they're considerably more expensive than a usual release), then wiped them, repainted them, split them from their outfits and the like, which for the majority of them, would reduce the price from what they were originally sold for and make them basic releases.
Even people attempting to sell a repainted doll as what it was before they wiped everything!

I do agree with you, the Cyber Bohemian is a very nice fullset.
Here you can see a very old shot of my collection of Lishes and my friend's Shiwoos (so old it predates my Perennis and Lupinus), but you can see four limited dolls in the shot - the Cyber Bohemian and the Prince of Darkness are either side of my white-haired Lishe in the backrow, and the Dear My Lady Lishe is sitting in the second row in her green dress. Just to the left of her is the Smoky Quartz Siwoo I mentioned earlier (he is also one of 5).

Oh no! I hope you get your package soon!

      • x 5
    18. Cyberpunk Shiwoo :XD: I can't believe I couldn't come up with the BOHEMIAN part. You and your friend's dolls are amazing!! It's sad to think that someone would buy a limited doll to wipe it completely, sell off its fullset and make it a basic release. I felt like that was going to be the answer, but hopefully there will be more people who pop up and say that they own one of the very limited dolls.
The Tanning dolls are stunning and the amount of Lishes and Shiwoos in this picture should bring down the internet. <3<3<3

    19. Thanks - I will admit that our collections are both considerably larger than that now - that photo was taken about 7 years ago or something like that. Everytime I look at that photo I think we have to get together again to take a new photo!

I know, I still don't understand why those people spent around twice as much as a basic doll to purchase a limited and then basically wipe half of its worth off.

There are some around, after all, my friend and I bought all of ours secondhand, so there would have to be more people around with some of these limiteds who have them stashed away.

    20. Wow, so much going on! I can't keep up!

Ugh, hope it all works out, @Angelesk, ugh!!!!

      Amazing photos on this page!!

    21. So many awesome pics! I'm still in the process of moving, it's been pushed back a bit, but still in September. I'm so looking forward to it!

Here's Feather in blue! A change up from the unusual! I think it makes her eyes really stand out!

    22. It does, @SacredMonsoon , and she rocks blue like she rocks pink!

    23. Thank you  i hope i can get her some more colors too!

    24. I think the main reason is that the dolls do not match the images with the promo photo and the expectations of the owners. And, as a result, there is a desire to redo.

[IMG]IMG_0176 by Lisa Douson, on Flickr

I haven't been a Lishe fan before. I got an old one, damaged by an unsuccessful modification, head to body. At first I thought about selling it later, but I was too lazy to do this, and my head just lay in the box. Until I was told that Lishe makes good boys. The make-up artist masterfully hid the defects, and the old wig and random eyes created a very successful image that I just fell in love with.

      • x 3
    25. He did turn out well Nadincat. Good thing the head waited around until your ideas coalesced!

    26. So a tanning El has come to live with me, and I decided to join this thread - it's been about 13 years since I've had a CP/Luts doll, after I sold my tanning Lishe for some reason that escapes me now...

But anyway...this is...Edward..? I can't seem to hear his name properly but this is the one I keep coming back to. He's in borrowed wig and clothing but the eyes are his own...and once I excavate access to the clothes cupboard, we can see what we have and what we'll need to buy. He strikes me as a bit of a fannish lad, so he may cosplay, but he'll certainly get the spare set of headphones as he definitely likes his music...

    27. Congrats!! Edward is gorgeous!! I would love to have a tanning...anything!! :whee:

    28. This is my favourite thread! I'm loving everyone's updates. But also I'm kind of annoyed because I subscribed to this thread ages ago and haven't been told that it updated. So sorry for not being here! I think I'll have to keep checking on it myself instead of waiting for notifications that aren't coming...

ANYWAY. Adding to the discussion about the fullset dolls. I have a fullset Lolita Soony (2007) I believe she was limited to 3. She has her original face up and I still have her complete outfit. The only thing I didn't get with her was her original box. I used to dress her in parts of the outfit (though never all at once, it was a bit much for me  And honestly, I didn't like the eyes much and I reaaally didn't like the wig) but nowadays I keep it safely stored away, as I play with my dolls a lot and I was worried about wearing it out. I bought her from the marketplace here a few years ago (and paid what I thought was a stupid amount for her, until I started seeing how much people are willing to pay for basic Soony nowadays...)

      • x 1
    29. We should really have taken the time to photograph Possibly Edward with Alphie while you had him here. We could have compared Alphie's massive Chiwoo head to Possibly Edward's much smaller one.

      Teddy

    30. I would love to see a picture of her, even without her fullset items! I love that you have one out of the three made!! That's awesome! People are paying CRAZY money for Soony right now!! I mean, she's a pretty sculpt, but my goodness!!

      • x 1
    31. Yeah it is pretty awesome! I wish I knew where the others ended up and if they're still complete. When I first bought her I did a bit of research on here and found two users back in the day who owned them. I don't know whether mine was originally one of those two (it can't have been one of them because I noticed the owner had removed her eyelashes and mine still has eyelashes intact). I think she has been through a couple of owners though. The last owner had her for many years and never played with her so she was in immaculate condition when I got my hands on her.

Here is a picture of her face:

She looks pretty different without the wig and eyes from the set. But it is for sure the same face up!

Tbh I would love to get a second Soony just so I could give her a different face up. I LOVE Blue and would never want to change her even if she wasn't a fullset. But when I was dreaming of having a Soony, I had always thought I would give her a face up with more attitude. I would love to one day get Blue a feisty twin sister

      • x 5
    32. I remember seeing her on Instagram! She's stunning! She does look like she's brand new, I certainly wouldn't change her. But I totally agree that her having a feisty twin sister could be super cute!! Your girls sense of style is absolutely adorable too! :D

      • x 1
    33. Aww thank you! :D Yeah, I kind of stalk you on Instagram  Love seeing your delf restoration projects!

      • x 1
    34. Aww, Thank YOU!:D:D I'm trying to MAKE myself get more involved in my dolls. I have been in the Hobby long enough and I just recently (within the year) started doing my own faceups. So now I'm trying to restore the older Delfs that I find, if I ever get confident enough I may resell them, I feel like there's no excuse for me to hoard as many Els as my household can accommodate :XD:.

      • x 1
    35. @Hyzenthlay Soony! What a beautiful girl! I remember that set ^^

Everyone’s dolls are so lovely. I’m so happy to see all these CP treasures.

My Haruhiko (Shiwoo Elf) got a magic eraser bath today. He was filthy, lol. I have no idea how he got so dirty! It was so much fun to take him apart and restring him and spend time with him. I often forget how special that maintenance can feel.

This faceup is lovely (Rabiruna) but I am toying with the idea of repainting him again. He used to have bright red lips and I miss them every time I look at him.

    36. He's beautiful!! Elf Shiwoos are just magical!!

    37. @Hyzenthlay I love seeing Blue! I stalk your insta all the time, and she's my favourite soony! Having a fiesty twin would be so cute! Do you think you'll buy one?

@Majenta your shiwoo is so pretty! I love the white hair!

@Alice80 congrats on your El! I love El's, someday I might get one too. But for now I plan to finish my luwen!

Here's a sweet lil bit of Feather for your day! :3nodding:

    38. Here's my absolute cabinet baby - my Dear My Lady - she doesn't wear her fullset wig because unfortunately it's rather fragile, and her previous owner swopped out her eyes (though I do have them).

I do admit I prefer her with these aqua eyes.

    39. Loving all the Lishe spam and the elf Shiwoos! :love

I think El was one of the first BJDs I ever saw, way back in like 2005 on DeviantArt. It was a neat photograph and I spent like half an hour trying to figure out what I was looking at. Was it a digital painting? Was it a photograph? But that wasn’t a HUMAN, was it???

Finally commented and asked what he was and the artist directed me to Luts. It’s been a downward spiral ever since. :blush

Oddly, though, I never did get an El even though I love his sculpt. My first boy was Moon.

    40. in my dreams maybe  and thank youuu <3 I love all your Feather pics. And occasional Snow!

@Majenta he is amazing :D I really love the face up, but can totally get missing elements of a previous one

@TeaPartyRevolution she is just lovely! The aqua eyes definitely suit her :D

    41. Oh, such gorgeous dolls! I'm not getting notifications again :( Ugh! Wonderful pictures on this thread, I hate missing them :D

    42. I finally figured out that my notifications stop if I read the message in my email, but don't click the link to view it in DoA (easy to do if you're just doing a quick run-through of your emails and deleting them)

Has the name settled yet, Alice? And how's his stringing? Is it still too loose - do we need to restring him when I see you next..?

      Teddy

    43. Yah, but I don't do email, so??? I always have this trouble :(

    44. How do you get notifications then...?

      Teddy

    45. Oh, I'm so thrilled! I just won an Ebay auction for a Tonner 22" American Model Belladonna outfit for Kirah! I had one several years ago, but sold it and have regretted ever since. I can't wait for it to get here!

    46. Teddy, I couldn't see the first one, but the second is gorgeous!

    47. I get them at the top of the page, where the bell is.

Oooh, congratulations, @Kirahfaye will have to see if I can find a picture to see what it looks like! It fits the Delf body? Oh, I think i found it, it's the "Gothic belladonna" one? Very stunning :D

    48. @IngieBee Similar to email alerts, I've noticed that if you check from the alert icon, but happen to miss going to a thread that you've been alerted about, you won't get any new alerts for that thread until you visit it. For an example, say you sign into DoA and the Alert icon shows that five threads you're subscribed to have new posts. You hover over the Alert icon click into one of the threads. After reading said thread you hover back over the Alert icon to click into the other threads, but for some reason you miss checking one of the threads. Well until you check that thread, the alert icon won't show you a new alert for that thread, even if the thread gets more replies.

What I do, to make sure I don't miss a thread, is that once I sign into DoA, I click on my user name which will take me to my personal details page. From there on the left hand side are a bunch of options, one of which is "Watched Threads". Clicking on that will take you to a page showing all the threads you're subscribed to that have new replies since last you checked. Afterward I just right click and open up each thread into a new tab.

    49. Poop! It works for me just fine - anyway, it's the white velvet Victorian with the dark blue trim.

It's so nice that these dresses fit the Delf body (and, the Elfdoll body) as they're such nice designs.

Actually, they don't fit my female Delf body very well because it's had the boobs modded off (hybrid with Ninodoll Merry head) but that doll is a child so wouldn't wear such grown-up styles anyway.

      Teddy

    50. I’m so heartened to see that Delf still get so much love! My El was my first doll, and even though my tastes have changed somewhat, I love all my Delf babies so much. Can’t bear to part with them!!

@Teddy love that red outfit you linked!! It’s so majestic!!

    56. I just adopted an Yder!!! I’m so excited, I always wanted to own one of those beautiful boys and I listed a WTB a couple of days ago thinking it might take a while for me to find one and a kind soul messaged me right away! After all these years, I’m so happy to get to add to my Delf family ^^ He’s in the mail now - I will post pics as soon as he is home and painted!

@NadinCat Your Shiwoo is so adorable!
