CP Delf Discussion Part 11

Aug 19, 2019

    1. Hi all! sorry for the weird question. I just acquired a beautiful DES (she's finally mine!!), but she doesn't have the neck piece. Do you know any alternative to it? any idea?

    2. Congrats on your DES @Sarilla they are gorgeous! You can either hook the S hook directly into the headcap (it's hard, but if she's not too tight strung you can do that). I have also wrapped a rubber band around the piece in the head cap and hooked the S hook through that. I have also found a place that sells the old donuts, but they're a little expensive to ship. I'll look for the site when I get home. :)

    3. Is she type 1or 2? If it 2 with the lock mechanism, I have some of these from shapeways that work great. I currently have them in a Juri06, a VE Chiwoo, and some newer fairyland feeples. (The only head I've tried that didn't fit right was the feeple shushu and that was just because she had a big uneven seem line in the way)

    4. If she’s a type one, you can buy the neck donuts directly from Luts still! I assume you’re referring to the piece that holds the S-hook without attaching it to the headcap. I use a neck donut (mine came with my Soony, but I bought another from Luts not too long ago in case it happened to break) and just some eye putty to hold the headcap in place!

      Hope that helps. ❤️

    5. I never bothered with it, I just have my Chiwoo's hook attached to the loop in his head cap.

      Good luck finding one.

      Teddy

    6. I also updated Amyas's eyelashes and freckles the other day, and edited this picture to make him look super adorable.

    7. Dark Elf Soo was only released as a type 2 in her tan-skin version. She came on the type 2 body with the joint at the hips instead of mid-torso and the neck mechanism. For whatever reason, Luts never released her normal or white skin versions as a type 2, although they clearly had the head cast for it. I don’t think any of the Soos were ever released as type 2s.

    10. Thank you so much for your help guys! I will try to find the donut for the neck, I was asking because I saw it soldout in LUTS page. But I saw they are selling it at Cool Cat. :D

    11. Back in late 2006 I asked Luts if they were going to offer DES in a type two head for normal skin and they said "Yes, this coming summer!"
I am guessing the trouble with CP/Fairyland started up at that time and derailed that project.

      • x 1
    12. I figured that might have something to do with it. I just wish Fairyland would re-release the DES sculpt in the F60 or even an F65 version since she’s my favorite!

      • x 2

    13. Well now is a great time to call them out on it. :XD:
Sooo...what about that type two DES head we were talkin' 'bout? <3

      • x 3
    14. Once Fairyland promised that they were going to release all the heads they had at the time in all sizes. I've been waiting for that for a long time, probably as long as for the revamped F70s, who were discontinued in about 2011.

As for the promise, some of their older heads are no longer available at all - Soo, Shiwoo, DES and some others have even been removed from sale at the MNF level.

    15. I was waiting for the DES to be released by fairyland in their big sizes with no luck...

      • x 1
    16. We must admit that Fairyland has changed the style of its dolls in recent years. I don't think we should expect a reissue of old molds.

    17. Oh I fully agree, although their new Delf line is pretty in its own manner, it is aesthetically very different from the old Delfs. I would be shocked if they even still have the older Delf molds in usable condition at this point.

    18. Does anyone have a tanning DES they can share photos of? Did the vampire DES also come in tan? Long-time lurker, first time question-asker

    19. Hey there <3
I use this website all the time. Soo
It doesn't look like tanning DES came in the Vampire sculpt. Just in the Elf version. :3nodding:

    20. Oh I'm fully aware - I haven't purchased a "new sculpt" doll from Fairyland since they released the Chloe, which is probably the last of their more classic style faces - and 90% of my collection is CP/Fairyland.(I would possibly purchase new dolls from Fairyland, but not any of their new sculpts, only those who pre-date Chloe, like a Mirwen- my last Fairyland purchase was a RealFee.)

I actually think they have less variety now in sculpts than they used to. The last 20 or so MNF sculpts feel like reworkings on a very similar theme when you look at them in the al a carte page.

On the old sculpts argument - some of them must be usable, since you used to be able to purchase Lishe and El as F60s, and they are some of the oldest CP sculpts (other than Soo, Chiwoo and Shiwoo). They also released Rona, who was originally an F70 sculpt. I have never known exactly why CP hasn't brought back their back catalog of Delfs, there would still be people who would buy them, you just have to look at the WTB section in the marketplace to know there is a healthy market for older sculpts.

    21. I would love a rerelease of El and DES, even Soony! They're so highly wanted, I'd love to see them, but I suppose it's all up to Fairyland. Either way I still love a lot of newer Fairyland sculpts too.

      • x 2
    22. They did release an elf-eared F60 Soony as an event head a couple of years ago. So on occasion they do use an old sculpt. I keep dreaming that they’ll do that with DES someday, too.

Even better if they’d release an SD-sized elf version of Shiwoo as an event head! Delf Elf Shiwoo is like my grail.

Someone had asked to see a tanned DES? Here is Ember for you!

    26. Love her glasses and bracelets! Colorful!

    27. Thank you! I love them too!

    28. They also did a SD version of Shushu recently, a sculpt which was only available in MNF previous to that.

Not sure if they will re-release sculpts that they've done before - Elf Shiwoo has been released twice from what I remember. And they won't do the wonderful ears again, which I've always thought was a shame.

And because we've mentioned him - here's a (very) old shot of my friend's Delf Elf Shiwoo - you can see his wonderful bent elf ears:

    29. Darn! I didn't know that - Elf Shiwoo was my first BJD love, but they'd already sold out before I discovered BJDs

      Teddy

    30. Elf Shiwoo was released as a limited minifee right before CP split, and then later Fairyland released him as an event Littlefee faceplate (I have both versions). Neither one is exactly like the Delf version.
He was never released as an SD again as far as I know, only El and Lishe were, which is what makes him so rare.

    31. I still need to get proper photos of her, but here is one of my tan DES for you @I<3MySD

    32. Thank you all so much! That website is so helpful, and both of your girls are stunners! Another one to add to the wish list!

    33. Ah.. That's different, I have the LittleFee faceplate, but it's the SD sized Delf I fell in love with.

      So pretty.

      Teddy

    34. I never knew I wanted an elf Shiwoo until you posted that photo TeaPartyRevolution!! <3
I have a little fee elf shiwoo because how could I pass him up with an Angeltoast fup?!?!? He is the reason some little fee kidlets joined the Undershelf Delfs here. At one point a vampire Chiwoo joined my undershelf delfs. But his head shape and half closed eyes weren't my favorite so he moved on.
Those tan elf Soo's are lovely as well. And Matte your girl is looking gorgeous even if she is feeling a bit put upon.

    35. Oh my goodness, Shiwoo elf and DES IN TAN TWICE!a! And feather! This is a page to remember!

    36. Oh gosh. I'm so in love with him. <3
I love the downward tipped ears, they're just beautiful.

    37. Guys... I ended up buying an Angel Elf Soo off of YJapan with her ears clipped off.
I'm so excited to get her and restore her ears. I had actually never seen one, so I initially mistook her for a DES since I was only familiar with mine.

    38. This is great! Congratulations!

      • x 1
    39. Ooooh, congratulations @Angelesk!!!

    40. There are two SD releases, one a Delf Art, called "Elf Shiwoo" - I think one of them may not have been an actual Elf even though he was meant to be an Elf Vampire, but it's difficult to remember - although there are two references to "Elf Shiwoo" in littlegreythings' wonderful database.

There is also a MNF Elf and Elf Vamp combo, I have never quite forgiven CP for the split as apparently Lishe was the next on the list to get the MNF Elf/Vamp limited, so there's no chance I can get one anymore!

They are quite gorgeous, even though Shiwoo has never really been my cup of tea - rather my friend is obsessed with them. She's lucky to almost have an entire collection of Shiwoos (similar to my collection of Lishe releases). She has both the sleeping mod Elf and an OE Elf in her collection.

Here's an old shot of her OE Elf to go with the epic spam on this page:

    41. Loving the elf Shiwoo spam! Makes me want him even more, though. lol

And here is a database I found with all of the Shiwoo releases:

      Standard

Delf Shiwoo (LUTS111) – between September and November 2003
Delf Shiwoo white skin (LUTS151) – August 2004
Delf Shiwoo Dreaming head (LUTS_156) – late November or early December 2004
Delf Shiwoo Dreaming Vampire head (LUTS_158) – early December 2004
Delf Shiwoo Special (LUTS_210) – late November 2005
      Delf Shiwoo Tanning (LUTS_233) – April 29, 2006

      Limited

      Delf Shiwoo Elf (LUTS117) – LE 68 – between December 2003 and January 2004
      Delf Shiwoo Elf ‘Vampire Shiwoo’ (LUTS129) – LE 5 – February 2004
Delf Shiwoo Elf ‘Fairy Land Story’ by Sunny Day – never released, possibly a special edition for a doll show – early to mid 2004
      Delf Art ‘Prince of Darkness Shiwoo’ (AL_003) – LE 4 – August 08, 2005
      Delf Cyber Bohemian Shiwoo (LUTS_226) – LE 100 – early March 2006

So, the only elf releases were the original elf and the vampire elf released in the same year. A third elf version was never actually released. The only two art dolls were human-eared. Their limited features were faceups and outfits.

    42. Thank you! I know that some people are a little hesitant on ordering off of Yahoo Japan, but this girl has her default face, Volks body (which majority of mine have), and she was pretty clearly an oldie. :XD: I recently was able to fix up an El sculpt, so I'm hoping to continue the trend with more of them. <3

    43. I don't know if this will help or not, but my Shiwoo "Lo" is a Dreaming Vampire with modded open eyes. He does NOT have elf ears.

    44. @Angelesk my only problem is everything at least used to be in Japanese. And it was so confusing. I should check it out and see what it's like today :thumbup

      Oh, he's gorgeous!

    45. There was a standard dreaming vampire head released. He was listed in their parts section. I nearly bought him and kind of wish I had when I had the chance. But there was also a very limited elf vampire. Only 5 released! I don’t think I’ve ever even seen a picture of that boy!

    46. I go through Buyee service and Google translate. I hate buying through a service, but it does help sort through the confusion and the language barrier. Google translate does a pretty decent job, with a few comical errors.

    47. I can't help with cravings for limited dolls, unfortunately!

The second Elf there, the so called "Vampire Elf" was the second release of only 5 - where it's either not an Elf or not a Vampire (I don't think it had Vamp teef). It's also the only one my friend doesn't have. The first Elf release came with two heads - the Sleeping (with open mouth and teeth) and the OE.

Technically that's two releases, although the strange one I don't know anyone who has one. You can see him here on the Luts site, if you look at the second image, you can see a Sleeping Elf head.

And as @Stormlight says, there was a "normal" release Dreaming Vamp (no Elf ears). I think he might be the only sculpt who got a normal release non-elf Vampire. Although I'm happy to be corrected (simply as I can't remember if there's a non-Elf Vamp Breakaway, which is possible since my memory of the Delf releases is sketchy.)

Yahoo!Japan is a treasure trove - I found an unmodded Dreaming Elf 05 Lishe on Y!J (or correction, a friend found her for me) in pristine condition and incredibly cheap - with a body and extra hands. It can be a good place to find old Delfs particularly, as long as you have a way of purchasing.

Since I was talking about her, here is that WS Dreaming Elf 05 Lishe:

    49. Which sculpt is Snow, @SacredMonsoon , I'm drawing a blank...again, LOL But yes, she will be very pretty!

    50. She is a luwen! Non vampire, of course! Haha :3nodding: and thank you, she's just so cute hehe

    51. Oh! I bet she's going to look beautiful when you're finished! What will her main colors be, do you know yet? I'm imagining purple in her future :D

    52. I think they'll be white and baby blue, as I have some things in those colors, but I think it'll have to be when she has a faceup what her calling is! Lilac is one of my favourite colors so she might pick those! Lol :XD: and thank you, i think she'll be so cute. I have faceup ideas already too, additions of little stars on her cheeks!:D

    53. Yah, sounds pretty too :D Looking forward to her completion :D

    54. Thank you! Me too :whee:

    55. There’s a pic of his sleeping head on the site (in the collage, 3rd pic down) with elf ears. So apparently this one came with a sleeping head, too. That is probably the vampire head.
I’m actually wondering if, since it was released around the same time as the first elf version, what made this release different is the outfit he came with. The head looks the same as the other elf version. It’s like another Delf Art set, which were usually just standard sculpts with limited fullset outfits (and faceups) to make them rare.

If that’s the case, IMO, I don’t count this one as a second elf release since the clothes are what make it extra-rare. The sculpt is the same one as the first release, though.

    57. The only one whose sculpt changes between releases is the 2005 Elf Lishe and the 2006 Elf Lishe - the 06 Elf has a distinctly narrower face. Otherwise all releases have the same sculpt, and it's the faceup and clothing which makes the release unique - except in the case of the Lupinus Lishe, which was of course released as a male.

Lishe was also the only one who was released as an Elf with three different heads - an OE, a Dreaming and a Dreaming Elf Vampire. The others only had OE Elf and Dreaming Elf Vampire (Dreaming was occasionally "Sleeping") combinations.

So it's all relative what you count as a unique release - I would still count the Vampire Shiwoo and Elf Shiwoo as two different releases, as I do with all limited and fullset versions.

And because I enjoy adding spam, here's one of three of my Elf 05 girls (I looked for a shot which showed the narrower face of my 06 Elf, but will have to take one) - (L to R - Modded Dreaming, OE and Dreaming Elf Vamp)

    58. TeaPartyRevolution, I was given a Vampire Elf Lishe with faceup by Evenstar from long ago when my friend was stepping away from doll collecting. Would she have been modded since her eyes are open?
I didn't start collecting any bjds until 2009 & the old Delf event heads origins are info I've never kept straight. (I had had Y'der several years before someone pointed out his vampire elf head had been modded as his eyes are open)
Adding the correct info to her log page in my inventory book would be helpful.

    59. She would be modded yes - the original would have looked like my girl on the right of my shot, with the slit dreaming eyes. As far as I know, with the exception of the Shiwoo Vampire head, all the Vampires that CP did for the Delfs were either dreaming or sleeping.

The Dreaming Elf Vampire head was released as an extra head with the Lishe Elf release in 2005. That release had three heads, an OE Elf, a Dreaming Elf and the Dreaming Elf Vampire. If you want the exact dates of the original release then I'd have a look at littlegreythings' Delf database as she did the painstaking research to find out the release dates of all of the limited release heads!

When I first received my Dreaming Elf Vamp, she had a really dark faceup, particularly around the lips - to the point where you couldn't see her fangs at all. So right before I had her repainted, I was doubting that she was a Vamp at all!

Luckily her teeth reappeared when she got the lovely new faceup she has now.
