Coral Reef Doll & Whale Island (some gore/body horror)

I almost got one of these Mei Mei sheep dolls! They are adorable! I was concerned because they didn't look like they could stand by themselves and so I didn't order one. Can they stand without a doll stand?

 

OK, that pirate girl is really cute... The ship on her hat! The tiny parrot! The mismatched stockings! I soooo don't have the money right now, but man...

Yes, the version with the crocodile head is such a fun sculpt, I really like the hands and legs! I'm not sure if I'll be able to pick up a pure crocodile as I'm currently saving for a different doll but it's gone on my 'would like' list. i'm hoping they'll continue with anthro dolls with animal heads as it's nice option to have instead of a human head and seems like they can make the animals heads look appealing

 

I love my Miemie, but I don't get why their 1/6 bodies' knees are single jointed. It's disappointing since their arms have good movement, but their legs are very limited. I hope they consider fixing that.

 

I also wouldn't mind the feet a little bigger. I heard people's miemies couldn't stand on their own and (with difficulty) the rabbits could stand. They live on doll stands even though their in a closed cabinet just cause I don't trust their tiny feet

A different version of the rabbits became available later on. And I think dde has a full set in stock at the moment

 

@mnezja I'd say that it is likely. Like Vimes said - the rabbits got a sort-of second release, and the mantis girls too. So if they sold well, it's not impossible that they might return.

 

I sincerely hope so. I’d love a mie-mie. Dolk Japan currently has a lotto for some but it’s Japan only

 

I got mie mie! She just came home today~ Back in December I asked legenddoll about wether I could use them as a proxy for the Japan only raffle sale of some mie-mies from Dolk and while they said that wasn’t possible they did contact Coral Reef on my behalf and found there was one more doll of the specifications I was interested in. Of course I had to snap her up. I’m so excited~

I'm thinking of getting a Mimia in old blue and making her into an anglerfish-themed little sea witch. Still in the conceptual stage at this point but I'm like 80 percent decided on her. Does anyone here have any owner pics of Mimia? I would love to see them! She has the most odd yet cute eye shape

I have noticed legend doll is the only one offering mangosteen for some reason. I got an old blue for the buggy and a mango steen for the octopus. I would done it for both, but the bugs come only in black and likely would've disappeared. Plus I love my red rabbit in blue

Ahhhh Zähne's new wings arrived while I was out of town and a;skljdfa I am so pleased with how well they fit!

As much as I adore the plastic 3-tier action figure wings, they were very difficult to work with. I also feel like Zähne is my lucky doll because not only did I find her (didn't think that would happen at all - and she was local, so no shipping!) but I also found the dream valley sherra wings that I had been kicking myself for not getting when they were released originally! These wings pose so nicely too and are a lot sturdier. Someday I'd love to get or make her a full set of six wings but for now, this is a little easier to handle!

@Vimes yay what an awesome collection you'll have going! I'm excited to see that mangosteen color, but yes I agree it might have washed out the bug parts. Good choice!

I ordered the Octocat from NewClover in just the basic white so I can paint/dye mine. Absolutely love these designs, and I'm excited to see how different people style them.
I'm planning to get that little crayfish girl too, and I'm hopeful that the octo and crayfish will scale nicely together.

 

@furui Oh, it is indeed down!
But it might just be that the site "license" is not renewed, and it'll be back soon. But I wouldn't be surprised if they've abandoned it as well... It wasn't properly updated with new releases, and many long sold-out dolls where still listed as available.

 

Hey, it's been a while since I've posted on the forum but I was wondering if anyone else has received their SpiderCat? I just received mine over the weekend and I have no idea what the eye sizes are.

Bjd collectasy is the most central, but no one website grabs everything, at least from what I've seen on English speaking sites

 

I am also awaiting for the octo-cat. (In mangosteen, so curious how it looks!)
In the meanwhile I received the purple transparent bunny from Legenddoll, but I wonder how to attach the bunny faceplate.

Edit: It seems putty is the answer. Now to find transparent putty of something else sticky.

 

oh my gosh she is GORGEOUS.

You might look into nanotape for the faceplate? It should hold well and it's super clear.

Don't use museum putty - it's oily and will slide if vertical

Depending on how you paint the face and inside, you might be able to get away with some white sticky tack rolled thinly around the edge so there's not just a single spot showing.

I've also been eying the transparent purple bunnies, and also wondered about how to best attach the faceplate without it showing.
But how do you find the transparency overall, like for the stringing? I suppose it won't matter as much with clothing, but still!

 

I would have never thought that the inside would be reflective, like that. It has a nice psychedelic essence to it.

@Yumeiro It is really gorgeous in real life. The light is reflecting through the whole body. The purple is very subtle in reallife. In the pictures it is more showing. At first I thought I got the normal one.
I barely noticed the strings or the hooks. The strings looks like bones. And the magnets are only visible from the back.

i only saw the plain clear somehow during pre-order, the purple is really neat looking! it would have made me look twice too!

I wish I had been able to score the clear skull plate, but neither of my bun-buns included it.
here's the blue bun-bun for some doll tax it's really difficult to get the pale blue to show up with my current lighting situation, but she makes up for it by being fancy

@SmoteyMote - ahhh thank you! i loved these rabbits so much and was so glad to stumble across a blue one when i did.

at first i thought the outfits were already in stock, so I requested the DoDollsdream teacup size - which should usually work on the rabbits for outfits that don't have tight hip features.

When i found out the set was to be made to order I did ask about the hip size since the Red Rabbits are slightly bigger at 19.5cm. Then we talked about it being for this doll (which she thought was fun) and I sent the measurements photo and provided a few more not given on the image. I think she could make things for this doll anytime now
I did take off the hands and her head to dress her.

 

Oooh wonderful! I have three outfits from her for my Kumukuku and Cocoriang dolls and I love her work!

 

These buns are so cute!! Thanks for the info on sizing. I'll need to start looking for an outfit soon because my Miao (Octo-cat Cyclops) just shipped from NCS!!

Hi all! Hope it's okay to ask here: I'm possibly interested in one of the Coral Reef 1/6 bodies... the human version of the cat legs one, I think? I wanted to ask, if anyone happens to have it, does the color listed as Volks white really match Volks white? Also, how did you order from Coral Reef? I can see that they seem to have a lot of distributors, who all have different things? And there are dolls on Coral Reef's social media that aren't order-able? Sorry, thank you!

 

@snowgray Coralreef has moved to a more period based availability, so to say. Some dolls/bodies are only available at certain times - they come and go. And it seems to vary by dealer too, yes. So I'd ask before placing an order for items that isn't recently released, to be sure.

I personally enjoy the chubby bodies. I've bought white, but it's all painted up so I can't help for comparison. Nor have I ever gotten human hands, but they typically offer them when they're selling the paw bodies. I know they had the option for the last critter body.

 

Coral Reef dolls are so creative! I love dolls that are a little on the creepy side.

 

@furui omg. i'm late to the party i JUST emailed them to ask about her because i'm completely smitten... not often do i see a doll and my brain goes "i would sell my left leg for that" but that is currently happening to me with their sheep/lamb lol. i hope they rerelease her again at some point because i'm not seeing anything about this one, maybe it wasn't an overseas thing?
