Great tutorial, made a dress for Calista today! My tablet's camera isn't the best, but here it is! Second & third pictures as well! The fabric I used is a bit sheer when tying the straps (when it's laying flat, like on the skirt part, you don't notice it). So I have to wrap her bust twice in order to get her completely covered like she'd like. The first layer (that's clearly see through) is kinda nice though the way I wrapped it, makes it a littler fancier/less "bulky."
Sorry if this comes out sideways, I'm doing this on mobile... Anyway! I made my girl one... and little foot wraps to match! Little harder to wrap because she has wings, not to mention the no bust thing, but I think I made it work. Lol
This is perfect to make for my layaway doll...so she will not be naked when she get home. Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
Thank you so much for sharing this design. I am so excited to try this for my girl. I love how simple the design is but the styling possibilities are so sophisticated.
thank you soooo much for this tutorial! I had purchased some jersey knit fabric a while back, was a breeze to make this (especially with a sewing machine)!
Wow! That's really adorable! Thanks for sharing. I'll have to save this one for when I get a girl doll. c:
Google "metric conversion calculator" and just type the measurements in. Or do your own measurements with a soft dressmaker's tape measure.
Should you hem a polyknit fabric or not? Most of the stretchy fabric I've used have been very hard to hem.
If it's stretchy and doesn't fray don't hem it unless you got to. Hemming is more for finnicky fabrics.
Thank so much for this tutorial :'D . I've taken my girl to every meet wearing the exact same outfit. Took me forever since I'm not used to sewing clothes, but at least she'll be wearing something different tomorrow. I'll post a pic after I'm back from the meet.
So here's the promised pic of how my girl looked on our last meet . Thank you so much for this tutorial!
I love the different styles used with this. So much creativity in the clothes and the tutorial is not overly complicated.
Oh my, my MNF Rosie is gonna be getting some cute dresses this weekend. That and I'm gonna make her a wedding dress too. I'll be sure to post pics of the finished dress.
This tutorial was great! I made the dress months ago and just realized that I hadn't posted a picture or anything.
I LOVE this tutorial. First dress I made for my girl was from it. Then, I adapted it to use a lacy skirt-- First dress: With lace:
Thank you for this tutoriel I knew this dress human version but I would not have thought of it for dolls. Bravo in all for your ideas, it is great! I would soon put myself in it.
It's nice I encountered to this post from Pinterest. I'll try this out with my zero sewing skills. I hope it won't be that bad. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much! It was so easy to follow! I was very intimidated but decided to give it the old college go. The dress is absolutely beautiful and perfect! I look forward to making more!
Yay I finally got around to trying this! I love it! I made the dress from the wrong fabric, next time I will get some polyester knit, but it still looks very pretty Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial!
I saw this dress on Pinterest and I thought it was so pretty and decide that I had to make it. I was at first hesitate just glossing over the directions. Then I actually paid attention to your tutorial and read the feedback given by others and decided I can do this. Thanks for this beautiful and simple dress design.
I failed in making this Because my friend had wanted me to make it with out stretchy material so I used some elastic around the waist but it didnt work but it kinda looks ok I think xD I still think it failed
Awww! Even if it didn't come out the way you wanted or the way you were expecting, I think it looks pretty good for what you did! If you learned something along the way, your efforts weren't wasted. For this style of dress, though, I do think stretchy fabric is key for achieving a fluid drape for the skirt and shoulder straps. I do think your use of elastic adds an eye-catching texture to the waist due to the way it gathers.
I'm gonna be looking at this tutorial about fifteen more times. But I FINALLY got some result from it - after y'know a million years. Definitely need more practice cause the skirt length is WAAAAAY too short from what I wanted but... I am glad I got SOMETHING out of it.
