Ordering Clover singing is trustworthy?

Jul 9, 2020

    1. I have no idea. The last Alice order I did, the fees were the normal amount charged by PayPal. I'm tempted to ask her, because the fees being double what they should be makes me not want to order from her again, even though she's so great to work with.

    2. Yeah, definitely ask her. Even if her prices are usually more convenient that other dealers, and she’s super nice to work with, a fee so high popping up from nowhere isn’t really the best thing. I’m sure there’s a reason for it, but since she asks about 10% of the paid amount and its double than the pp fee I don’t get it either!

    3. I will and let you know what she says. If the items I was going to get weren't limited (and one I can only find on her site), then I'd honestly just forget it.

    4. That really sucks…! I was just about to order something from her and she seems to be the only dealer for it…

    5. @Rurimas
Christina got back to me. This is what she said about the fees
"PayPal is not so friendly to us, we don't want to use this way frequently.
i'm very sorry that paypal ask handling charge and transfer charge from us. we loacted in China, so it is hard to transfer the USD to RMB.

we apologize we did not declare this event before, it just begin from the end of August :(
of course we can cancel the order for you if you need~ "

Looks like she's charging the PP fee and the currency conversion? I get the fees suck, but it's part of doing business and accepting PayPal. :/
I've ended up just canceling the order, as I can't justify paying double what the fees should be when I could get the items for less elsewhere.

      @namika
It might be best to email her first and ask what the fee is. Who knows, it might be different for you. I still can't believe it was so high for my order.

    6. Clover-Singing is a legit dealer, but not all the companies she has listed on her site is she an actual dealer for. The items you'll get from her will always be legit, so if that's the thing you care about, you'll be fine ordering from her. However, unlike other dealers (Alice's, BJDivas, DDE, FF&D), Clover is more of a Taobao agent for some of the things on her site. For instance, she's not an official dealer for Angell-Studio and Granado, those are the two I know for sure because people I know found that out the hard way, but I don't know what others are like this. There's been multiple cases in which someone who ordered AS through Clover got a broken part and Clover told them that AS won't replace the part because shipping's so expensive, but when the person went to AS directly AS was like, this isn't our official dealer and we don't even know about your issue. The Granado thing was posted in one of the threads here on doa, someone received the wrong color doll and Clover insisted that they'd ordered in the wrong color (sunshine instead of tan iirc), even editing Granado's resin swatch image so that the labels of the two colors were switched. Granado fixed the issue for the person thankfully. I noticed recently that Loongsoul disappeared from the menu on Clover's site so idk if something happened with them as well, Clover's still offering LS though.

    7. I know they also aren't a dealer for ShouShouDoll (which they have kind of hidden on their site, but still listed there).

    8. I can't say anything about the other dealers, but Clover Singing's Ebay shore is listed as an 'Oversea Dealer' on the official Loongsoul website. :kitty2

    9. Just wanted to update that I did end up ordering through Clover Singing after all despite her new PayPal fees. I ordered a 1/6 Dollsky Paradise fullset doll and a 1/3 2D Doll body. I've not seen Dollsky's dolls being offered anywhere else (except on Taobao and I'd rather go thru a dealer than buy directly from Taobao) and 2D Doll was 50% off at Clover Singing. The order itself was $595 and she asked for $45 in fees if I paid with PayPal. (The other payment option was bank transfer which she said she could give me a 5% discount if I chose that but I wasn't comfortable with bank transfer...)

Anyway, I actually had a coupon code for $10 that I got from her a while back by emailing her for it after receiving one of her newsletter emails, so my fees were reduced to $35 and I discovered that it was still cheaper to get the 2D Doll body through Clover Singing than Alice's Collection even with the additional fee, so I went with it. Alice had a 2D Doll promotion too, but the discount she offered wasn't as much as Clover Singing.

Clover Singing seems to regularly offer this $10 coupon with her newsletter, so I would definitely recommend asking her for the code if you plan on ordering anything from her!

    10. It's nice to know that even with the fee it's still cheaper! Even if it kinda bothers me; I stopped to buy from Alice for that exact reason (I don't like to see a price on the item that at the checkout inflates for the fees, I don't find it very nice).
But at least Christina was open about the fee thing and she told her customers, and I get it's probably not her fault since she had issues with PayPal. Still, it's a lot of money for a fee, compared to before that there wasn't, an about 10% fee that pops up from nowhere isn't easy to adjust to.

    11. The doll I was going to order ended up cheaper through Alice's, so got it there (and qualified for two $1 items due to their event). I wish Christina's site showed the fees when you go to check out, like Alice's does. That way it's not as big of a surprise. It's still ridiculously high, unless she's having a very good sale (like the 2D one). But for something where the price is similar to what Alice has, I'll probably go with Alice.

    12. Christina just posted on Instagram that she's currently trying to get 'a good discount from PayPal' so that she can charge a lower fee! I hope she's successful!

And apparently her account was put on hold earlier because one of the payments she'd received was deemed 'dangerous'...

    13. Dangerous... She sells bjds, how is a payment for a bjd dangerous :XD: PayPal strikes again.
I hope she's gonna manage to lower them, cause atm they're pretty high.

    14. Not sure if this applies in this case. But, for me to receive money from others within the USA, it's roughly 2%. For me to receive money from anywhere else, it's roughly 4%. If she gets charged double, that could explain the cost in fees.

    15. Alice charges 3.9% paypal fee. Which, from what I can tell, is just a little more than what the actual fee is (including international transactions for merchant accounts, which I'd assume Alice and Christina both have merchant accounts). Christina charged about 8%. I just wonder why they would be charged such drastically different amounts in fees, if that's the case, because I would assume that Alice would be charging what paypal charges them. But, paypal is also a pain in the ass so it wouldn't really surprise me if they do charge them different fees.

It would be nice if Christina is able to get the fees lowered, because I do think it's ridiculous that paypal would charge her so much in fees and it's unfair to her.

    16. Just wanted to update that I just ordered an off-topic doll through Christina and was pleasantly surprised that she didn't charge me a PayPal fee! Not sure why.

Maybe it's because my order was under US$200 or maybe because I've ordered a number of things through her recently?

I did order another off-topic doll through her last month which was $200-something and she charged me a fee then.

Sadly, she seems to have stopped the coupon code offer in her latest newsletter.

    17. According to her latest IG posts, she now only charges fees if you take a layaway, so that might be why ?

      • x 3
    18. I think this is why! She wrote shs was trying to find a way to not ask the fee anymore for orders, guess she managed to get rid of it if you pay in full

    19. Looking back on her IG posts, it looks like she started mentioning charging a PayPal fee for layaway (only? it doesn't really say only, just 'we will ask charge for layaway plan') since 11 Sept? My other order was on 27 Sept and paid in full but she still charged me a PayPal fee then...

    20. Hello! Has anyone ordered from the store recently? There's nothing in the About us or T&C section, the website seems to have changed to clover- singing doll base since the latest post, and the only reason I'm considering Clover's Singing is one recommendation (Facebook seller I bought some clothing from) and the fact that they do seem to update the items every now and then.
I would love to learn about some recent experience w/ this website :)

    21. @ensei There are two sites active. The one you listed, and this one. And the sites have always been pretty bare-bones.

I'd recommend checking instagram for the latest info.
But currently... be cautious. Here is a recent DoA thread with more info.

    22. I've ordered from her for years now without problems and have ordered from her recently. Also received an order not long ago with everything I'd ordered in good condition. I think the recent problems she's been having are mainly related with the proxy service she offers for buying off Chinese secondhand sites? Preorders from doll companies should be fine?

She does have two websites now. She had problems with the old one always crashing, so she set up a new one but somehow decided to keep the old one as well... She does update both and puts different listings on them. I have trouble ordering from her old site, so if there's something I want from it, I usually just email her.

As mentioned above, the best way to keep up with updates is to keep an eye on Instagram.

    23. Thank you both for the info! I gave it a try, so far no problems, I was able to place an order and I got an invoice promptly... let's see how it goes :kitty2

    24. I got my order a few days ago; I don't know how some of the Chinese dealers are doing it, but it's just ridiculous how the parcels just transfer do European Postal services and don't charge a penny for the customs handling :o ... The shipping was free and the dolls are just amazing. I haven't found any thread for Box Group... Never heard of 'em before but the 1/6 dolls are just adorable and they pose great, and were super affordable. The resin scratches easily but that was the case with my darker tone Myou doll as well. I ended up placing a few more orders here... Hoping they're gonna arrive just as smoothly. I'm delighted with Christina's support and responsiveness too.

I can't tell if all of the above is the case for any other destination in the world but I couldn't be happier with this first order of mine. Wow.
