Chibi Unoa discussion part 3

She's naked and without faceup right now, but I'll try to take a picture of her derpy ears xD They're really not that noticable at all but it's one of those things you can't unsee once you see it.

Thought I'd pop in and give you a few photos!
I was really disappointed to discover that there are no eyelashes attached - though I should have realized from the promo photos - and also was a bit shocked at how uhh.. "crappy" the default faceup is. It's really a good thing I don't plan to use it and just keep it as a collectors piece!

Another problem I'm having is that the Sist faceplate just doesn't look right on the body. The body ends up looking really fat somehow against the Sist face, and it's all just WRONG. The character I have in mind for this faceplate would not be chubby!
So at this point I'm back to square one with finding a body for my Sumire (Sist), and now need to go get a proper faceup done for Lilin (I think I''m calling her Hannya).

Dolls. Never easy.
At least all the lingerie type clothes I have seem to fit fine!

Edit: I have a question, are the faceplates on the Noppin website frequently in stock or do I need to worry about them being sold out?

It looks like Alchemic Labo is going to do a lottery for Chibi Unoas in brown skin (tan). The edition is going to be called "Sol y Sombra".

Where do you guys get your Chibis? I have decided I want one and over at Noppin it doesn't look like there will be a pre-order period soon... And there doesn't seem to have been one in ages . I'd rather not get one off of the MP here, that would be a waste of money wouldn't it?

 

Ive also been waiting, if anything it will be your cheapest bet to wait for Noppin to restock, though it has been a couple of months since theyve been trying out new resin (I believe). You could always go on MP or via yahoo japan, but both of those options usually run very high. So, for me, waiting is the best bet. Good luck!

I was pretty lucky I think; I got my chibi on the MP here for $600 which included two full outfits and two pairs of shoes, as well as two wigs. I was planning to wait for the kit restock, which should be in a few months, but I was too scared of the yen-USD exchange rate getting even worse, so I jumped at this one while I could! And I used Noppin to buy some more faceplates for her when she arrives. Those were so expensive. x_x;

 

Evelien: I buy mine at Noppin in June 2011, when the preorder was open, it is necessary to wait for the next one.

What about a littlefee head on a chibi unoa body? even though there is 1cm of a difference in neck sizes does anyone know what it looks like? it might work with a little bit of modding

 

Other heads don't work (physically won't fit) on the Chibi Unoa body because the top of the neck flares into a goblet shape and the head piece is shaped to fit that.

Possibly... but it would take more modding than I would consider worth the effort. You'd need to take off the whole top/goblet part of the neck, and then built it back up tot he right height with a rounded top instead of a hollow cone....

Besides, there are other bodies the same size as the Chibi ones that wouldn't need modding.

Hey guys, hope you don't mind me joining in since I don't have a chibi yet. Now that my MSD collection is almost exactly how I wanted, I'm turning my attention to the 35cm category so I'm relatively new to this size.

I have 2 questions:

Question 1: What is the exact measurement (preferably in cm) of the neck top without the headback?

I've seen pictures of the headback without the faceplate and of the goblet shaped neck. I was wondering if any of the wonderful chibi owners get me a measurement of the neck-top?

I'm entertaining the idea of eventually getting a chibi body and hybriding it with a regular head (the ones that just use a simple S-hook).

With the measurement I can ask around an see if there is any possible mod to make this happen.

Question 2: I know that the preorder dates happen a little sporadically, but typically how far apart are they?

I really want to save up and get *hopefully* two chibis the next time an order period opens up (although I will still be MORE than happy if I'm lucky enough to get one).

I'm back... I decided I don't want an Iplehouse KID, no matter how cute they are - I really want a Unoa Chibi as a little sister for my Sist/MNF hybrid Carly because that'll look best. I've been checking out Noppin quite a lot but I don't think I'm gonna wait for the next pre-order. Instead, I ordered a headback from Amaeta and a Lilin Cool faceplate from Noppin, hoping to find a suitable hybrid body soon :P

I got my hands on a Narsha body within my own country ^^. I also received Amaeta's headback already, and the wig I'm gonna use for my Chibi hybrid girl. Now I'm just waiting for my Lilin Cool faceplate from Noppin ^^

The clothes are Yo-SD sized. They're tight in some places and a little short all around, but they fit okay.

 

How advisable is putting a Chibi head on a 1.5 body? I love that Roar face, but I'm not sure I'd be able to handle having a doll that small.

 

I haven't been very active lately...
Here's a photo of my Chibi/Narsha hybrid twins from the last meeting in Antwerp:

 

I think it'd probably look just fine. I mean, honestly? My Minifee and Chibi are sitting next to each other and the size difference is not very great. Chibis have shorter, fatter legs and arms, but the height difference isn't very great, and the bust and hips are pretty much the same size as any slim mini. The Roar face is just a hoot, it's one of my favorites.

 

Well, the only slim mini I've ever seen in person is a Serendipity Sharmin, so the Minifee comparison is lost on me. As I understand it Minifees are pretty small compared to your average MSD...?

 

The head sizes are pretty similar so it would work in terms of proportions, I think

Well, Unoa is basically the same size as Minifee, and from what I've heard, Sharmin is pretty close to Unoa in size. C:

But this is all to say, yeah, a Chibi head on a regular Unoa body would work just fine if you don't want the chubbiness of the Chibi body, but to be honest, the Chibi body isn't a whole lot smaller than a regular Unoa. Just has shorter, fatter arms and legs. C:

 

Does anyone have any suggestions for a slightly smaller body to hybrid with a Unoa Lilin? I have a Narsha at home, and she's just slightly too big for me. Does anyone know how Chibis look on yosd sized bodies?

Well, they can wear 12mm or 10mm, it depends if you want your character to look sweeter (12mm) or more adult (10mm) ^_____^
